Flighty Fashion

    Outside, it's a lovely day, and - having spent a few days hanging around Alne - Miyako has decided it's time for a bit of shopping. So she's not outside, she's inside! She's dragged Kotono out for the day, starting with lunch at one of the nicer restaurants in the area, and then moving on to look at clothing.

    The Spriggan Bard has tended to favor medium shades in the past, mixing in bright colors like her favorite turqoise blouse with blacks and other dark colors. "What do you think of this one, Ko-chan?" she asks, fingering a black kimono emblazoned with crimson lotus flowers. "Would this work for me, you think?"

To say Kotono was dragged along would be partially incorrect. At first she was wary about going until Miyako mentioned a nice restaurant, and that seemed to change Kotono's mind. She enjoyed her lunch with Miyako quite immensely, and now they're in a clothing store.

Kotono would take the time to look around for her own things after Miyako was finished. After all, it was important to take turns!

"Hmmm," Kotono says as she tilts her head looking at the kimono as if trying to size it up. After a few moments of thinking, Kotono gives a smile and a nod. "I bet it would look great on you, Miyako!"

    Miyako hmmms and considers it. "I... I dunno. Bit garish, don't you think?" She sets it back on the hangar and considers other items on the rack. Eventually she picks out a dove-grey kimono with a subdued blue geometric pattern. "The other one looks too much like blood spatter," she declares, with an almost disappointed tone. "Don't you think?" She almost seems to want Kotono to say 'no'.

Looking closely at the kimono, Kotono does in fact shake her head. "I agree, it does look like blood spatter, and it just doesn't seem to work well in general in terms of colors." She gives a sympathetic look. "Keep looking, Miyako. You'll find something."

    "Mmm, well," the shorter Spriggan muses. "I guess you're right." She sets the grey-and blue aside, replacing it with a similar one in grey-and-gold. Then shakes her head again, going for a darker grey with a brighter blue. "I think this one," she finally decides. "Now let's find something for you."

"I agree, that looks perfect for you Miyako," Kotono says before she goes to look for a kimono for herself. "Let's see, I usually use blue so let's try something within that range. Maybe purple?"

    Miyako pauses, turning to look at Kotono, and blinks. "Purple? With your hair?" She reaches up and tousles Kotono's verdant locks. "Lavender might work, but a richer purple... I dunno. I'd have to see it." She paces along through the racks, looking for just the right color.

"I'll let you make some choices, Miyako. I trust you after all." The girl giggles a little at the tousle of her hair, although it's more of a show of happiness than an actual laugh.

    Miyako hmmms, picking out a relatively plain lavender kimono for her friend. "Hmm, yes," she muses, pointing out the subdued flowers picked out in a pale, almost-white yellow along the lower quarter of it. "How do you like this?" she asks.

Looking at the kimono, Kotono looks it over before giving a slight nod. "That looks perfect for me, I definitely think so." She smiles. "You've got good taste, Miyako!"

    Miyako smiles lightly as she holds it up to Kotono, noting the length and how it compares to her hair color. "Yes, I think that will do nicely." She smiles and adds it to the one she was getting for herself. "See anything else you like?" she asks, her eyes lingering on a pair of gloves that she walks over to examine.

     Pela has been here the whole time. Not, really in the front though. No, in the absence of her own place, she's taken up residence in the back of Chain Mail Bikini+1. She didn't really get permission for this, she just kind of. Walked in, integrated herself, and started cooking for the little food stand off to the side. Which is why there's the rather pleasant scent of freshly baked bread wafting through the store.
     While her bread cools, Pela had decided to come out of the back, wearing a more traditional maid style of outfit with an apron over it. And then she noticed something. There were customers in the store. There was a moment where she just kind of stared at them with a deer in the headlights kind of response, before suddenly she was under the little stall. Until Uther scruffs her and lifts up the cat with one hand to set her on said counter. "... ..." She looks up at Uther. Who gives her a Look. She looks back towards the two. "..Hi. ...Uhm. I think you've already been here but uhm. Welcome to Chain Mail Bikini + 1. ...Can I help you with anything?" Pela is not the best employee. Especially since she's not an official one.

"I'm pretty good, I think," Kotono says with a smile to Miyako. Just then she looks to Pela and gives her a smile as well. "I'm doing OK, but I appreciate your offer." She then looks to Miyako. "Do you need anything else?"

    Miyako hmms and considers the gloves, then tries them on briefly, flexing her hands and moving through a few of the runes she uses in combat. "These gloves," she muses, "And maybe some new boots for us both. That should do for today, you think?" She smiles lightly, friendly. Spriggans might have a certain -reputation-, and maybe she's been leaning a bit more into her heritage of late, but still, she's not the scary sort. Not now, at least.

    "And we'll have to pay for it all, of course." she adds, a moment later. Obvious? Maybe. But there's that reputation again. At least these two are adventurers, who escape most of the stereotypes....

Nodding a little, Kotono takes a look for some gloves as well. She picks out a nice pair and tests them with her spell runes as well. "These should work nicely." She then gives a nod to Miyako. "And yes, some new boots would be nice too. These slippers can only go so far."

     Oh, good, Kotono didn't need anything. And then Miyako mentions the gloves. and some boots for them both. Pela hops down off of the counter and immediately walks over to the two, the little cat resting a hand on her chin and arm crossed over her waist, looking over the two. Hmm. Okay a ninja-style robe and samurai-style armor. "...Do you want matching or to change things up slightly? ...Your current designs seem very functional and match your current outfits well." Pela says softly. "...Do you have a particular style you're looking for or interested in?" She asks towards Kotono, moving over towards the counter to acquire a small piece of paper and notepad, which she seems fully ready to write on now.

    Miyako has nothing to apologize for, as far as she's concerned. "Functional, yes. But that's the point," she explains. "A little lacking in style. I've never spent a lot of effort on that before, but I'm looking to change that." She lets her smile widen a bit as she watches Pela. "Maybe something fancier, you think?"

     "...A little lacking in style, but functional. So you want it to be a little more stylized. ...Perhaps instead of just turquoise underneath, having it match the armor more, adding more flair to them... maybe some distracting accessories on the side to draw attention to them and away from hands and arms..." Pela muses out loud, crouching down to examine Miyako's boots even more closely, tapping the metal plates if Miyako lets her. . "...Possibly layering the metal plates for a little more flexibility and to add some more desgin to it..." Looking towards Kotono, Pela's eyes actually sparkle a little. "And for you, possibly a blend of a ninja style armor with your martial arts shoes; keeping the flexibility while adding some armor and blending it with your standard robe's style; or if you're going to change to a different outfit soon, it could match that one instead. And with it some split-toe stockings are a must so that you can properly match the ninja style!" She nods quickly, writing down notes as she goes. Whops, did they catch a crafter's muse?

"You know what you're doing," Kotono says with a grin. "I'm sure we can afford all of these." She looks to Miyako. "Now I'm glad you brought me here after all! We should do this more often!"

    Miyako nods, her slight smile turning to an impish grin, and she reaches up to pat Kotono on the back. "I told you you'd enjoy the trip," she says. Wth a flippant gesture, she tosses the pair of kimono to the counter, then turns back to Pela.

    "I'd love to see what you have in mind," she starts. "I like the idea of a bit of armor here and there, makes it easier to anchor defensive enchantments. Something the right caster could carve some runes on the underside of, that kind of thing." She hmms and looks at the gloves, adding them to the pile. "Maybe a set of it for the gloves, too?"
