Necromancer on the roof

    Dusk was setting on the town of Tolbana as people scurry back to their houses, today in Tolbana there has been a rumor floating about, the crazy necromancer has been jumping off the roof over and over today. Why, one may ask and most people would just respond it is the crazy monster loving necromancer just don't pay him any mind. On the roof of the Tavern stands Setsuna, a stick in his hand, and he just hums to himself as he paces at the edge. His face says he is not a happy camper.

"I hear this is a good place to jump off the roof," Uta states from behind Setsuna. One moment she wasn't there, the next, somehow, she is.

Sneaky Spriggans.

"I've heard rumors of a crazy monster lover repeatedly jumping off a roof, and at first I was confused because that sounded like me, and I was pretty sure that with all the refugees flooding the Clinic of Tolbana, I had no time to do any jumping off roofs. But then they specified 'necromancer' and it all clicked." She moves to sit down next to Setsuna, and asks, "What's all this about?"

    Setsuna jumps at the voice and looks around for the moment at the sky as if he thought it was in his head before turning and seeing Uta and relaxes for a moment, "Oh it's only you, Uta. Good good, I thought I was going crazy. Anyways now then about jumping off the roof." In the necromancers hand is a branch, well more of a petrified branch. Somewhere between rock and wood and it is right before he starts explaining he gets an idea. "Perfect, just perfect. Here take this but don't inspect it. It's a surprise." He shoves the 'Dead Branch' into Uta's hand. " Now go out there, jump and hang on to that." There may be subtle nudging and negotiating Uta to the edge of the roof in the process.

"Going?", she asks, as Setsuna mention he thought he was going crazy. As Uta settles down, Setsuna might notice an addition to her outfit: a smooth looking necklace, glowing, mechanical in appearance, which stays flush to her body.

The Spriggan glances at Setsuna, and after the nudging and coaxing, she jumps and-

Pause.

Blink.

"I AM FLYING! I AM FLYING! IT HAPPENED, I AM-"

A few seconds later, there is a Wile E. Coyote style fall, only in slow motion.

    Setsuna watches the moment happen and focuses on counting for the delay before Uta falls to the ground. He takes a few easier ways down, hopping from outcrop to outcrop before ending up back on the ground by Uta. "Unfortunately it's not flight. No instead it is, well stopping." Taking a moment for letting that process he adds, " You can inspect it now. It's a relic from the seventh floor. " With another moment he fishes the butterfly hairpin from his hair as he offers it towards Uta. " Feel free t see what your spriggan eyes can see." This the roundabout way the necromancer tries to suggest appraising the items.

Uta looks at both items. Loremastering must be going on, because she just looks, doesn't touch, and- whistles. Just whistles.

"The Crystal Tower rebellion -again-! Seriously, how many of these relics come from there?" A pause. "Ok, try appaaising this," Uta says, pointing at her necklace.

If Setsuna fails his Appraisal roll, Uta will gladly provide the flavor text herself.

    Setsuna does as he told and stares at the chest of the Spriggan, as he does his best to appraise the necklace but gets no where with it. Looking up Uta reads the text to him as he listens. Finally she finishes and he has many questions, the important one being, " What is the Einzieg?" He takes the branch back and puts it back into his inventory for now, having not worked out a way to keep it on him at all times, the hairpin slides into his top knot, resting the butterfly nicely there. "So many questions."

"Indeed. No idea of what the Einzi(e)g is. If it's a form of 'Einzig', it means something like 'the Only', or 'the Unique', 'the Sole'. Some sort of computer?"

There is some thinking. "I'd also like to know who the Four are... the Four -what-? And the Witch of Greed? I kind of feel for her want for knowledge..."

"Still. Oracle? You can see the future?"

    Setsuna shrugs, " I mean the first type of thing I think of when it comes to mapping is a satellite, you know like back home where they would use them to capture images and map the planet. However maybe it is the system undereneath the world." He shrugs and ponders for a moment before the oracle question comes up. "It appears to only be my future, I can't see what you are going to do tomorrow unless I am going to be there with you. I also think the more random something is, the more iffy the future is." With a groan and rubbing at his head for a moment he adds, "Also it always seems to come with a headache. "

"A satellite... that'd make a lot of sense...", Uta ponders, tapping her chin.

"Oh, yes, the headache. Welcome to the club! Have you had the sore throat already?", she inquires, casually. "Been looking into that with Prophylaxis. Seems like this sort of Power involves activation of something in the general area of the larynx. Just stethoscope analysis for the time being, but I'm trying to think of ways to get deeper into this sort of mystery." There's more thought, and she adds, "And it's a pity it only involves -your- future, but... hmm. I am considering various strategies for figuring out what the Palace Landers did in Mac Anu to turn the Guardians against us, and knowing a more general version of the future would have been handy for some of them."

She sighs and hangs her head. "Loremastering -the event- directly would require me being in Mac Anu itself, and..." She makes vague gestures.

    Setsuna shakes his head at the mention of the sore throat, " No sore throat. Also I can send message to people without chims. it's limited and one sided though. Only enough for a few words, that's it. " He then listens to the medical explanation of it all adn frowns at the mention of Mac Anu. " We unfortunately have our own problem. We have a week or so until a Machina comes crashing through the fifth floor into the fourth floor and yeah. It's going to be a mess." there is a weight to his words before he changes the subject and simplies ask about Mac Anu, "Doesn't Mac Anu have a rather intricate sewer system? Can't you sneak in there?"

"You mean sneaking in from the outside? Might be worth be taking a look into, but the point is..." Uta thinks. "See, if my hunch is right, the brief blip in the chimlinks people in Fourland experienced might be related. And based on what I've learned as part of a completely different research project, I suspect that whatever they did to Mac Anu, they did it somewhere the sewers. So there's a high chance they'll probably be guarding the entrances to the sewers as well. But who knows, maybe we could arrange an infiltration mission or something..."

There's more thinking, and then some shaking of her head. "No, no, as said- sorry if I'm being vague. It isn't that I don't want to share information, it's just that I want to share it after I've done all my double checks and I know things for sure. I'll do some more work in the background and come back to you."

Uta remains silent again, then turns to Setsuna, "The Tear of Ice, right?", she asks. "There were some vague rumors about a Situation with an 'ex-Machina', and I offered my Loremastering and contacts to Doctor Prophylaxis. Was told something to be able to do my job. She's on a rampage. Something seems to have been taken from her. I'm supposed to be looking into how this started, and hopefully to find if returning what has been taken from her will stop her." She waits for some time, lets the words hang heavy, and continues, "Based on my estimation of the situation, in order to do so, my only choice is to go into the Karluin Catacombs, where she is rampaging." Another pause. "I shall do it."

    Setsuna listens to it all and processes it himself. "You don't need a full infiltration team. You simply need a very loud distraction and a big enough roar to attempt to draw people from the sewer if thats where we need people to go. We could attempt to lay seige or even better fly over and bomb from the skies. We could mine the land around mac anu. Several options. " There is a coldness in his words as he talks and for a moment he looks much more serious then normal, "If you are going into the Catacombs, wait for as close as you can till she is going to be bursting through to Rovia. That way you have less chance to running into her or other monsters." Taking another moment he says to no one particular, in fact if anything he says it to the air around them, " Then I can go hunting."

"It is a plan worth taking into account," replies Uta, in a way that makes it obvious that she means it. "My other plan, in an ideal world, would involve no interaction with the Crowned, but at the moment there are enough unknowns that the plan might end up not being viable, or not ideal, and that would mean interacting with the Crowned. Very angry crowned in full murder mode. And worse. Not good. With yours, at least, we'd have a calculated risk."

She turns and looks at Setsuna. Studying his expression.

"I will keep that in mind."

She gets up, and dusts herself off. "That said, I think I should be going. All those projects aren't researching themselves."
