The Pickup

Miho is just working away, she's going over notes for Kau's request at thefront counter. Her tail swishing about as she's lost in thought. It's funny now she's not sure she could function without a tail at this point. It's kinda funny how she's adapted to to the new her in the end.

     Soon an elegant man, with well maintained hair and glowing, predatory eyes would walk into the facility. His fingers tracing along the shelf before he made it up to the counter. He could see Miho working, seemingly dancing.

Vafrum tilts his head gently, before raising a brow, then he ahems softly. "Hello Miho. I've come to check in on the progress if my daggers."

That tail keeps going in it's littledance until she's spoken to and she looks up. "Oh Vafrum and yes they are ready to go I was going to message you later today about it." She grins rising up and setting down the items she was sketching with. "Just give me a moment to go fetch it."

Mister Big Business isn't the only one to grace Miho's shop at the moment as the tall pigtailed Salamander strolls in shortly after. "Looks like a busy day in the forge today." She turns her head to look around, and figures the two Weird Mood crafters are either off working on things, or actually getting some sleep for a change.

    Vafrum bows his head, "Thank you, Miho." He says as he waits patiently leaning against the counter. This is when he spots Vertina entering the shop and gives her a gentle smile. "Good day to you, miss."

Miho will come out from the back with a package wrappped in cloth and she'll set it on the counter. "Come take a look good sir and not so much I'm mostly caught up on things. Good thing too with the duo at work i'm just going to let them go at it today."

"A good day it is!", Vertina replies. Then turns her attention back to Miho as she returns to give Vafrum his purchase. She's assuming it's that, at least. Not really her business. "Daggers are good Miho... but you know anything about kitchen knives?" She rubs the back of her head with one hand. "I know it's not weapons and stuff, but now that I've got my cooking skills honed I really need a proper set of hardware for the tavern kitchen."

     Vafrum waits for Miho to bring out his package, which he opens with a big grin on his face. He pulls one out, looking over the curved edge that was like a raptor claw, down to the handle. "Exquisite work, my dear."

He placed the dagger away, before moving aside for Vertina, after all! He didn't need to hog up the whole counter.

Miho looks at Vertina for a moment "Do I know anything about kitchen knives? That's most of what my Uncle, Cousin, Grandfather and I made. Back on Earth so yes I can do kitchen knives." She nods to Vafrum. "Thank you I'm glad your happy with it."

Vertina thumps a fist on the countertop with ethusiasm. "Excellent! That's exactly what I need, especially with how busy Tolbana has become as of late. Lots of refugess and people working hard to keep them from spiraling down in dispair."

Miho says "Now I ask what /type/ of kitchen knives do you need? I can do cleavers too Vertina."

    Vafrum watches the exchange closely. If he had a tail, it would be moving with interest, but alas, he is in human form. So, no raptor tail. He does continue to listen, tilting his head ever so slightly.

That's okay, between the two Salamanders there's plenty of tail to go around, if you're into that sort of thing. Vertina answers Miho's query with a tenative "Almost everything? I mean, I didn't even realize there was that many different knives for different kitchen tasks until it was demonstrated," she explains after the brief hesitation. "So whatever constitutes a set of knives? Aheh, I know more about using them than trying to describe them."

Might fine tails too, with those healthy scales and all that. Miho listens to Vertina for a moment as she brings up. "So a full set right? I can do that any extra styling on them or just plain and simple?" She looks over to Vafrum and hum. "So just what sort of business are you up to sir?"

Vertina shakes her head, making the pigtails sway. "They don't need to be fancy. Functional is more important. Functional and high quality so they don't break when working with some of the tougher monster meats." She leans forward over the counter to give Miho a hug. "I appreciate it, big time!.. And will make sure you're properly paid for it too, of course." Not that there was a doubt but we're just making sure everything is properly in the clear here.

    Vafrum still listens in, though once Miho asks him what type, he looks over to her. "I have plans, but this damnable war has placed a halt to my own progress, so turning my attention to reputation building and cash flow growing." He admits with a simple hand gesture.

"After all," He chuckles gently, "Nothing comes for free." He then looks over to Vertina, "And speaking of, you inspire to be a chef, do you?"

Miho thinks for a moment "You want your tavern's name on them at least?" She aks raising a blue eyebrow iun thought at this. "So what were your plan aside from cash and building rep till this is over? True you don't work? You don't eat, right?" She notes as she starts to make notes for Vertina's order.

"That's a good idea, putting the name on them. Good thinking." Vertina returns to just leaning on the counter, tilting her head towards Vafrum. "I run the tavern in Tolbana. So being able to provide foodservice in addition to drinks and time to relax is important. Especially with a lot of the refugees from Mac Anu taking up residence there for now. Lots of people to keep working and fed."

    Vafrum looks at his nails gently, then back to the two ladies. He goes to stand where he can get a good view of them both with ease. "Cooking has a chance to provide services outside of just your tavern." Then he motions to Miho, "Just like your smithing skills."

"Oh, I know it," Vertina replies. "What's the saying about armies marching on their stomachs? Plus keeping all the laborers and crafters fed so they can keep laboring and crafting so we can properly fight back and defend ourselves." And that's as much her purpose with learning to cook properly as it is operating her business.

Miho has an idea of what she needs to do. "Aye they do i'm curious to what you got in mind good sir for when the war's over. You have my intrest now." Her tail sways back and forth now and she looks over to Vertina nodding in agreement. "Yeah we were not expecting this..."

    Valfrum has both of their attentions now. Good. "You see, before this war took place, my plan was to aquire some land in order to build a grand little town. A place for merchants to sale their wares. A place of grand entertainment... wonderful foods... and where all could aquire," He pulls out a gold coin and twirls it around his nimble fingers. "Gold to fill their pockets... or perhaps." He closes his hand around the gold coin. "Lose it to lady luck."

Vertina whistles. "Don't let the invaders find out that plan, that's pretty much the thing they hate being Adventurer run."

    Vafrum looks over to Vertina, "Oh, i am sure. After all, they been attacking any local traders and one had it generally in for me." He muses. "Though I wonder if it was because of my merchant air, or charming looks." He does a beat pause. "I jest mind you!" Or does he?

Miho mmms for a moment "I can say you do get quite a bit of attention." She'll think for a moment. "So our own little sin city then?" She seem interested in this now. "Aye, they want us dead, mind wiped or enslaved in some fashion."

Vertina looks Vafrum up and down for a moment. "I'm going to say both," she replies with a shrug. "Though going after our means of supplies is a sabotage approach, so probably more that. All the more reason for us to make sure we've got our stuff together before they get to it."

    Vafrum takes out of his new knives and taps the tip carefully, "And that is why I, for one, plan to get better at combat. I can't always depend on the inner beast to intimidate everyone for me, after all." He says that with a devilish smile, with just a dangerous glow in those predatory eyes, before he flips the blade into the air and manages to catch it without injuring himself... or others.

"However, once this war is over... would you two be interested in adding your talents to the marvelous city?" He holds up his free hand. "You don't have to answer now, but i can assure you, those who partake will earn a portion of the profits."

Vertina rises from the counter and takes a wary step to the side as Vafrum plays with the dagger. It takes her a moment to catch on to 'the inner beast' but it makes sense when she sees the brief glimmer in his eyes. "Yeah. It's good to be able to handle yourself. And we'll see. If nothing else, I can help provide liquors from the brewery."

    "Well, if you ladies excuse me." Valfrum says with a gentleman bow. "I have some other things to check in on, but I do hope our paths cross again." He then goes to make his way out while humming a song

Miho says "Like I can't depend on brahting fire and I would be interested and we'll see when the time comes." She nods at the idea of money it seem pretty good to her she'll also look to VErtina for a moment. "Funny how that goes about handling one's self ain't it?"

"Yeah. But its important people find their own way, and not just rely on the way the world works." Vertina stretchs a bit and starts back to the exit. "Let me now when you've got the knives ready and I'll come pick em up."

Miho Says "I will Vertina and I best get to work if you want a full set, I'd honestly suggest you get two sets given how busy you are. See how the first one works for you however." With that she'll grin and scuttle on into the forge to get to work.
