Last Light's Fall

Reviving an old Eas custom, Baroness Wake will host a special celebration prior to the Shadow Festival. There will be music, dancing, and... there are whispers about spectacular desserts being prepared. All are welcome for social RP and hopefully some multi-Alliance scheming related to the war.

Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The Arcade of Eas

Seen from above, the Grand Theater of Eas would appear like a vast plumeria of pink, white, and yellow resting on edge of the easternmost point of Lake Eas. In front of this colossal structure is a large pool. In its center, a statue of The Beautiful One stands. Like a series of shells, three broad walls enclose the area in large oval shapes, each with space enough between for parks and gardens. Through these walls, two aqueducts pass, bearing the water of the inner fountains to the fields and village of Eas. Stretching out of the center of these structures is the great road, which leads eastward, out of the mountains, with branches curving towards the castle and village.

The first structure one encounters as they enter are the walls, which are supported by arch after arch, earning this place's name: the Arcade of Eas. Inside each wall is a broad hallway in which artwork from all corners of Yamato is displayed.

Five passages lead through each of the walls, allowing passage to the central square. There, standing amidst a vast and shallow pool of many fountains, a 25-meter-tall statue of The Beautiful one welcomes guests. Her calm gaze is directed to the east. At her back is the Grand Theater itself, large enough to serve as an elegant backdrop for The Beautiful One. Its entrance is made mostly of glass, allowing one to see the front of house. Inside, there are many more sculptures of The Beautiful One and paintings highlighting the beauty of Yamato.

Last Light's Fall provides an opportunity for the people of Eas to show their gratitude for the gift that is the summer growing season. It also is the desired time to end larger efforts, as traditionally ending something during the Shadow Festival is considered bad luck in the area. Or was, at least, when Eas was a people with an identity and traditions of their own.

Perhaps the old celebrations might bring some of this identity back. On this evening, though, the majority of Eas' citizens are far away, still in exile during the war. The new occupants-of which there are many-are Lander soldiers provided for the defense of Eas so that the adventurers can focus their warriors elsewhere. Notably, a modest handful of Landers and their children rescued recently from the invaders is here. At least for now.

The celebration begins in the late afternoon, precisely when the sun is half way from its apex and the horizon.

The where is important, as well. This all begins in the dedication work that made Wake a legend. More importantly, it inspired her to serve her patron goddess. This is why Wake is standing, wearing a black cloak that billows in a wind entirely its own, next to the statue of the Beautiful One in the Arcade of Eas.

Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Rylen has always gone where he was needed, first to the Isle of Beginnings, then Ninetails, and now Eas. As the only settlement with ties to the Olympus Alliance, he has made it a priority to protect these lands from the threat of the Palace Landers. He has been working with the guards, providing training and serving where he can.

So, it is likely little surprise to find him here. However, he seems to be dressed quite unlike his usual attire. He has a fine growth of facial hair that is neatly trimmed on his chin, his long white hair hanging over his shoulders, a few strands lightly braided and pulled back to the side. His clothing is distinctly dark, with tight fitting pants and a shirt which barely qualifies as that title. It is buttoned only at the bottom, showing most of his chest in the process. Entirely, the Hero of the Peko Army looks the very part of the playboy that many expect him to be. The entire ensemble is meant to catch the eye and show off his build and athleticism.

Putting on a smile, he makes his way forward, approaching the Baroness before offering a well trained bow that causes his hair to tumble forward. "I am glad to have found myself worthy of an invitation, my dear Lady Wake. I will admit, this will be the first time I've experienced this celebration, so it will likely be interesting to see the culture of Eas." As he rises back up, the charming acrobat gives a wink and one of his characteristic smiles.
Merek
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Merek wears his nice dark attire with white trim, and he has a cavalier hat along his features. The man takes the time to look around, and bows then to Wake while he smiles a bit. "It is good to see you," he offers.
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Kauchemar is, as usual, respectful but no more formal than necessary. It's just essentially a prettier and fancier version of her usual attire, without the ominous hood and cloak. The resident professional musician of Eas is off to the side, fiddling with her instrument to make sure it is properly tuned. This is a party after all, formal or not, the last thing she is going to do is not be prepared to do her job as a Bard in middle of a celebration.

And show those bumhole invaders they're not keeping them from having a good time. Hah. No morale is going down the drain on her set!
Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho hears the word arcade but knows she won't be playing Street Fighter or Space Invaders. Still, she needed a break and this sounded wonderful. She was all cleaned up at least and her braid has been undone. Something no one would have seen before. She is however just well in her forge clothes, cleaned mind you to the point they look new but she's in her work clothes more or less.

"I didn't expect to get invited but this is going to be fun!

She would come up behind Kauchemar and throw an arm over her shoulder.

"Heyyy shall we have some fun and cut loose tonight?"
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang turns up in what in the real world might pass for a formal gown in black, ankle length, but with bare arms, her long blonde hair spillng straight down her back. It's certainly equivalent to 'black tie', for women, though those that look closely might notice the dress as a long slit up one side - with overlapping edges so it doesn't come open when she walks, but allowing for movement in an emergency. The dress is silk, and clearly tailored and expensive. The shoes were the hardest part, it took some time to explain to the cobbler what she wanted, and what patent leather was, but the gold was spent and what she got would do at any formal gathering back in RL. It is perhaps a waste of time, in game, but it settles Yeowang to know that whatever may come, she has dressed well.

When she first arrives at the party, she will come and pay her respects to Wake, bowing formally. "This is quite the place you have," she says with a tone of admiration. I spoke with your ... aide de camp the other day." She sounds amused, looking around to see if she sees him in the crowd.
Curtana
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Parties are something Curtana hasn't really done for his entire time in Yamato. The biggest 'party' that he can recall going was being in a crowded tavern, so a gathering such as this is something he is not quite used to. He was certainly be surprised when he was invited to say the least. Not wanting to disapoint the Countess, Curtana decided to go the extra mile on the attire.

The Pooka's shaggy brown hair seems to have actually been tamed for the moment combed in a smooth hairstyle, though the bangs are starting to slip free. A black tunic, pants and dress shoes can be seen though the open front of a stylized dark blue overcoat that reaches his ankles. Bits of gold decoration are added to the overcoat and tunic, accenting the otherwise muted color scheme of his attire. It's style over function, which would be certainly different for those that know the hedge knight, but he wouldn't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

Approaching the Baroness, Curtana takes a deep bow from the waist and straight himself after just a moment. "I certainly did not expect an invitation, Baroness, but I am pleased to know that I made an impression. Like my fellow guest here, this will be my first time seeing this event firsthand. Hopefully I don't become a burden for you during this event."
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru has stepped into the observances earlier in the afternoon. The respite from all the other events that weigh on him so heavily as of late being replaced by a moment to reflect and have a good time. The Enchanter's long navy jacket is replaced by one of formal charcoal with ashen slacks replacing his typical denim jeans. The monochromatic setup is accented by the same purple lens monocle and an amethyst design against a white shirt that looks like fading fractals or an inversed starscape. It is busy. He offers a slow blink of the visible blue eye. It could be a wink, too. The whole issue with one eye exposed only.

The young human makes his way to get a drink before starting the rounds of socialization. This isn't new. Smile and mingle. Three to four topics. Move on. Leave a favorable impression. Its muscle memory of the social order. The thing that interupts his flow is a Lander. She is fussing over a flower that is wilting to her father. "May I?" he asks the father, two strangers otherwise, as he motions to the his daughter. Confused a bit at the sudden and vague request, he nods. Haru lowers himself to the young Lander, "That your favorite?" She nods, hiding behind her father quickly. "You have good taste. Its an excellent color. A coral peony," he says as he extends a hand. She looks up to her father, who looks to Haru and then to his kid. She puts the flower into Haru's hand and he slowly puts his other hand over it. A bit of magic and crafting and when he raises his hand there is a floral scent and flower crown. He couldn't restore it. Things live and things die. But they can be reborn anew. It is swiped from his hands quickly. "Enjoy the festivities," he offers more to the father.

And with that, back to finding a suitable drink.
Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

a Tiny spriggan is arriving, wearing a kimono that looks similar to her usual one, but more well decorated with some floral embrodiery, and her bodysuit is absent. A hair ornament is tied into the side of her hair, with a violet flower upon it. Even now she carries a weapon with her, a katana at her hip, with a scabbard designed to be more decorative than anything else. She looks around at the gathering as well as the room itself, she stares at the tall statue for a moment, and sometimes have to hop a little to see past someone to get a better view of her surroundings, she mutters to herself as she looks around "Crap, I didn't expect it to be this busy. I'm not good with crowds." though if anyone knew her, they knew that if it was a tavern crowd? She'd be the one leading the drinks.

Viviene approaches wake and offers a polite wave and short bow. "Hello, Baroness. Thanks for the invitation. Seems to be quite the showing so far!" she also offers a nod of greeting to Curtana.
Fukaziroh
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

An opportunity to show off, a chance to see friends, a chance to eat good food. Of course Fuka's there, and with every intention of showing off her best! The little sylph wears an evening dress of fine mint-coloured cloth; no silks for her. The cloth is daringly cut however, showing off some of Fuka's finer features. Not that she has much in the way of body fat or anything like that to give her those pleasing curves some women seem to have naturally, but she has something else up her sleeve. Or within her bodice as the case may be. Armed with proper fashion and more than a little bit of extra support, Fuka's actually managing to look a little less maidenly and a little more womanly this day. Of course that's not the only daring part of her fine dress. The hem is also slit high up her thigh, allowing her to show off some not bad leg length. Well, not a lot of leg length, but what she's got she's showing off.

Deciding to make a dramatic entrance, Fuka pushes boldly on in. "I hear there is food and dancing!" she proclaims loudly. "I *hope* I don't need to look around long to find EITHER!"
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The Baroness turns to greet her guests with a deep curtsey. For the most part, she clutches her cape about her, concealing whatever she might be wearing beneath it. It is an imperfect approach, and here and there, bits of some dark fabric with glittering dust on it can be made out.

"Rylen! Thank you for joining us. I appreciate it. You have been so busy lately. I am glad to see you are well." With a playul laugh, she tacks on, "And you look even more handsome than I remembered. And if you like, you can just call me Elly now. All my friends and everyone in Olympus is welcome to."

Merek gets another of her curtseys. "It has been some time, Master Merek. Eas is delighted to welcome you! I trust you have been keeping yourself out of danger?" She rather expects the opposite.

The Baroness catches sight of Miho in the distance, raising a hand in welcome. "So many friends here. I never imagined it." Speaking of which, Yeowang catches her eye. It's an appreciative glance before the greeting. "You have outdone yourself, Yeowang! And did you? I hope that went well."

She has a moment, then, to inspect herself. For some reason, for just a moment, she seems slightly uncertain. One might even get the impression that was counting something in her head. A few seconds later, and it's in the past. She makes her closer to the front of the statue, where she greets Curtana and Viviene. "I'm happy to see you! Both of you. You are most welcome, of course. I'm delighted you could find the time to share with us!"

Even over the chatter in the crowd, Fukaziroh's voice can be heard. A few guests laugh, while the more stodgy in the group seem uncertain at best. Baroness Wake-Elly, that is-simply laughs for joy. "Fuka! Hi!" she shouts back, over the heads of a few dozen people.

Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Merriment waits on no woman! Which is fortunate in this case, because it means that just after Fukaziroh calls out, beautiful little carts start rolling into the arcade through every arch. The scent of a dozen different kinds of food can be caught on the wind. Peko, gruntie, every manner of herb or vegetable that is available in Eas is to be had. For the moment, however, there are no desserts. Not yet.

"Well, we have some time, judging by the light." Wake keeps looking up at the statue and the arches, waiting for something, most likely, to kick off an event.

"Friends! Eat and enjoy yourselves! Let there be music and laughter! Last Light's Fall is almost upon us!" she cries out.

Merek
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Merek seems to think about that word of Wake's, while he nods to the woman, "You know, fighting the war. That said, for all of the danger, I'm winning. I run more when I need to," he will admit. There's a grin, while he looks to the people that are in the place, "Anyway, I thank you for inviting me. I will enjoy the festivities." With that, he will walk to find a few things to do.
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang smiles at Wake's praise, and nods in reply to her question. "It did. I think we see eye to eye on the path forward. With your approval, I will see that things are taken care of?" And this ends the business part of the meeting. It's intended to be social, as she understands it, and may of the people she sees here she knows from fighting, against one foe or another in game. It's a bit of a limited ecosystem, perhaps, but events like this are the escape valve. It's not usual for her to meet fellow fighters in a formal environment, but the formal environment itself is not foreign to her. When the food goes around, she will nibble, having a bit here and there, but not much all told.
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru pours himself a glass of wine, looking back over his shoulder to Fuka's rather Fuka announcement. He waits for the first wave of greetings to the Baroness to pass before stepping over to greet her. "An excellent festival. Nothing short of beautiful for Eas and her Baroness," he gives a nod of head and a raise of the glass in light toast or honor for the hostess. "I trust you will be letting your hair down as well amongst such good company, mm?" Though it occurs to him to look for Tae on that note, glancing to either side.
Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

A smirk plays on Rylen's features as he reaches a hand up, lightly running it against the scruff of a beard he has grown on in recent weeks. "The lady always did have a fine eye for beautiful things." He lifts that same hand and motions around them to the many works of beautify that have been built throughout Eas. Things they have fought hard to protect.

At the offered name, he inclines his head, "Elly it is, then." There is a brief flash of sadness that passes his features, "Rylen is the name my sister gave to me a long time ago, but perhaps we can talk about the name behind it some other time." He has learned better than to monopolize the time of someone quite so important in an event such as this.

Instead, his eyes sweep around to the others, noting familiar and unfamiliar faces amongst them. It is Viviene's comment about the crowds that has his silver eyes offering the Spriggan a gentle smile. "If you hang around with certain people, you get used to the crowds after a while." He laughs softly, then offers a hand, "I'm Rylen Corvus, Representative of Crescent Moon and Hero of the Peko Army." He winks playfully, "Also resident beastmaster for Olympus. May I have the pleasure of making your acquaintance?"
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Let there be music.

"Well, I'm never one to miss a cue," Kauchemar murmurs to Miho with a smirk, though she has to shrug loose of the shorter Salamander's arm as she's rising from her resting spot. Her staff rests nearby against an arch but for now it's not what she needs, instead taking her lute as she strides out into the party proper. Over to Wake, and makes a flamboyant bow of her own. "You called, m'lady." She can play up the moment as much as anyone else can. "Though," she adds as she stands back up, "I think best we save the dance until after the guests enjoy their festive food. Instead," Kauchemar dramatically holds up her instrument and winks at Wake, "I have something many have been waiting yet to hear."

The lute is settled back into a proper playing position, and fingers strum across the strings in a vibrant chord signally she is about to start. Followed by a brief pause for dramatic empahsis.

Then Kauchemar actually starts to play, fingers dancing across the strings, somber yet melodious music ringing into the air. Even with no words sung the song itself tells the story, a tale of hardship and triumph, of battle and solace, of the birthing of a new nation under the watchful guidance of one rather wonderful woman.

The Anthem of Eas. The one Kauchemar herself wrote.
Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho does take note of Haru and Fuka as she looks around for a moment she also spots Viviene and homes in. Wait someone shorter than her?! That is notable to Miho Wait no with Fuka that makes two, two ladies shorter than her at the party. She is not the smallest now! She's also shruged lose by Kaychemar, it does not seem to daunt her at all.

She'll make for the Baroness as well and bow formally.

"Thank you for the invite to this party. I haven't had a chance to cut lose for a bit!"
Curtana
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Curtana smiles and dips his head in pleasure, with that smile only growing stronger when he sees Viviene next to him. "Honestly? That surprises me, you always seem ready to make yourself known to others, even if they never planned on it."

Hearing Fuka call out like that, Curtana looks slightly horrified and worries that Wake might take offense to Fuka, but the burst of laughter has him relaxing. It seems like Fuka's personality makes herself a friend of many people. "Surely food and dancing don't need to go in that order, right?"

Seeing Viviene being the focus point of an introduction, Curtana takes his moment to start better exploring the Arcade, though never going far from the central statue of the Beautiful One. He might nibble on a bit of food as he goes about, but he only samples food that seem to interest him over any real sense of hunger.
Fukaziroh
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Fuka lights up as she hears her name and sees her 'aunt'. Also the people with her, of course, important friends and notables. They're far more important than the stodgy guests who might find her attitude unbecoming. Grinning hugely, she makes her way towards them.

As Kauchemar breaks into the somber anthem, the little Sylph pauses, listening keenly. While it's not her preferred style - really, no anthem would be - it's good. Maybe even better than just good. It's fitting and noble. When it ends, Fuka applauds and cheers whether or not anyone else joins in. She can show appreciation, and if it's culturally inappropriate she's even more willing to do so!

When it ends however, she resumes her approach. "You throw the best parties, Auntie!" she beams at Wake. "And you attract the *handsomest* men too! Are you claiming them or are any of them ... available?" she asks roguishly, smirking at the group of men who have so far introduced themselves, almost daring any of them to take up her offer. Mind you she's grinning a bit too hard to be actually leering at the menfolk. Mostly.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"Running has its place," the Baroness says to Merek. She laughs gently, "And of course I invited you! Please have a wonderful time. There are so many people here tonight." She smiles playfully, "Perhaps you might meet someone!"

Before Yeowang turns her attention to the food, Elly replies, "Please do. I hope that soon things will be better than normal. The new harvest, I pray, will flourish in peaceful soil."

A warm smile is shared with Haru. "And here is a good man," she says simply. A deep curtsey follows. "And thank you. So many have labored to make this place beautiful, and yet.." She glances over towards Fukaziroh, "I think a most exquisite gem awaits your attention. Let my hair down? Oh, my dear, just wait for the show. The light fades."

"I will be honored to learn more, Rylen. I hope you can find me after the night falls. People will, if I do this right, be rather more occupied with each other's company than mine."

The anthem has been heard by Elly before. She was there when Kauchemar crafted it. She has been moved by it. But in this moment, knowing that the light is about to fall and her people are far from their homes, it has a profound impact on her. She needs a moment to turn away from the crowd, hiding emotions that shatter the calm smile that serves as her mask. The laughter of the child bearing Haru's gift rouses the Baroness from it, and she straightens her posture to its usual near-perfection and meets Miho with a smile.

"Please, enjoy yourself! I'm so happy you could join us." She turns her attention to Miho's clothes, tilting her head. "You are lovely, dear. I am so happy you have come as your are. You are radiant."

Turning her attention to Fukaziroh, the Baroness does not curtsey. She hugs her niece affectionately. This she manages to do smoothly, despite the height difference. It's the magic of posture, perhaps.

"Well, I may put a few of them to work for me, my dear, but I promise to let you have first pick! I do hope at least one of them is worthy of your affections."

It is growing darker, bit by bit. As that darkness grows, lights begin to glow around the Baroness' brow and smaller ones soon flicker into being like a net made of moonlight in her hair.

Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The tiny spriggan looks to Rylen and the outstretched hand, accepting the handshake with a strong grip and a firm shake, her body language is that of poise and discipline, giving her a very military esque vibe as she greets Rylen. "Good to meet you, Rylen. I'm Viviene. Something of a Newcomer to the Sleeping Knights, and Olympus Alliance. Usually I'm just working as a mercenary, being a lot of people need help due to the war, it at least pays for my food and repairs." she explains, looking about, her eyes peer about the area as if analyzing the place thoroughly. She returns her hand to her side after the handshake and said "Know what they're bringing out for food?" she looked quite interested in that, if not a bit desperate. "Most of the time I'm living on menu-made rations to save on gold."

a pause is offered as she listens to the anthem quietly, as to not interrupt the performance, an impressed look, and a look of approval is seen on her face as she nods to Kauchemar, out of simply appreciation for the art itself.
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Kauchemar plays to the end, letting the final chords trail off and fade lightly. "For tonight as we celebrate," she finally speaks up again, "let this be a reminder. We may now stand on the land called Eas.. but the true nation is not a stretch of soil with a fancy name. It is in the hearts of her people, and wherever they thrive, so does their loving home. Eas is with her people, wherever they may be, and that will never be taken from them."

Okay, that's enough dramatics for the moment. Kauchemar bows to the gathered people as they applaud, and then slips off to the side. She wants to be sure to get something to eat before darkness completely falls, and the real party people came for can begin.
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru takes the length of the score too appreciate Kau's performance. The glass raises to her when it comes to a close. A fitting song for the late afternoon and eve. He doesn't say anything to Kau with his words but it has a Great Gatsby approach to appreciation. Words don't do it justice.

"I look forward to that," Haru says with a smile returned, "a well earned night for such countless acts for the people. Including arranging all of this. My non-existant hat off to the hostess." There is a pause with Fuka's antics, be it brief, before he draws the wine to his lips for a drink. Sip. The wine glass lower as he turns to Rylen. "And Rylen, good to see you again. It feels like only yesterday we were here during more pressing times in defense against a man who would dare abandon his Peko," he laughs. A fellow Earth dude is a welcome sight.
Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"I will endeavor to do so, then, m'lady. It's likely we have much to talk about, regardless, but I do not wish to take up all of your time. Duties as host come first." The beastmaster seems to have a natural finesse with dealing with people, even if he doesn't quite follow traditional ways of 'court'. He inclines his head, content to allow the Baroness to return to tending to her guests.

Instead, his focus falls back on Viviene. It is her grip alone that keeps him from offering a more gentlemanly attempt at laying a kiss to her hand, and instead he just inclines his head. He seems well familiar with those who give off that military vibe. "Ahh. The Sleeping Knights are probably one of the most capable groups of Adventurers in the Alliance, so I'm sure you are quite skilled if counted among their number."

At the question about food, he chuckes, "Oh, I fully expect that we will see some delicious food this evening. The Baroness's dear companion usually sees to that. Since it seems you're in desperate need of a good meal, I shall leave you to that, but if you have interest in a dance later, you know where to find me."

The mention of his name draws Rylen's attention towards Haru, offering the fellow earthbender a wide grin of familiarity and welcome. "Ahh, yes. It's better not to be meeting under such trying times. I've been taking care of that peko and they are doing remarkably well given the circumstances."

As Fukaziroh has those roving eyes over the men at the party, Rylen makes particular note to meet that gaze briefly, his lip quirking and a wink offered in her direction.
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang smiles to Wake, and nods to her sentiment. "A good goal," she agrees before turning and selecting one of those tiny sandwiches. Nibbling at it, she considers the anthem. Korea's is more of a choral hymn, Japan's is a bit more orchestral to her ear. Third world nations often have lengthy marches so that parading soldiers can pass in review with the anthem playing. England and America's anthems are a bit simple and straightforward compared to some she's heard. As Kauchemar finishes up, she nods agreement with the sentiment, adding, "If the strength of the land is the sum of the will of its people, then let us embolden the wills of the people of Eas as powerfully as we can."
Curtana
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Curtana draws in a deep breath and starts to clap as soon as Kauchemar's Anthem of Eas comes to an end, pleasantly surprised by the melody. The way the tune had sounded has stirred something deep in his heart, despite it being the first time he had heard such a tune. Despite it coming from only one insturment, he could see how it would only become grander once more were to rise to the chorus.

Fukaziroh call and challenge to the men present is heard, and one that is swiftly declined by the Pooka knight. A soft blush reaches his cheeks and he pointingly looks away from the Sylph. "Best not to encourage her tonight, Fuka already seems quite excitable..." Murmuring to himself, Curtana looks to find something new to distract himself with.
Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho grins back at Wake.

"Thank you and I will!"

She has no idea her fashion sense has caught the Baroness' attention or maybe it is the lack of it. She's too happy to notice and what's the worse that could happen from this? She also watching the effects with the light on the Baroness for a moment. She pauses for a moment as she hears what Viviene says. "You willingly eat the cardboard food!? I need to take you to Hifumi's Miss."

The smith is just taking exception to how anyone would willing eat ... the stuff that drove most of the Adventurers into utter depression or worse.
Merek
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Merek nods a little bit to Wake, then he's moving to find things to eat and taking his time to relax. He of course will take off the hat which he wears, placing that away while he finds a drink to lift up to his mouth. Then it's back to settling in. He does notice a few people he doesn't know, and Miho he will offer a wave to, "It's nice to relax. With the war we need a lot more of that."
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The evening comes quickly this time of year. It's not so much the general season, but the position of mountains peaks around Eas. Shadows grow long and then a beam of light suddenly cuts through two peaks.

Reverently, the Baroness murmurs, "Last Light's Fall."

That light is a spotlight on the statue of The Beautiful One and it's reflection bounces off of the shackles, skattering light about the area like a mirror ball.

Elly reaches up to her neck to unclasp her cloak, but holds it in place as she strides towards the statue, pausing at the edge of the pool. Her cloak is released and with a touch of air artes it flies away from her in a whip of wind, settling neatly around the shoulders of a most familiar woman. It seems Tae was able to sneak away to see her lover's debut performance.

Elly's clothing is revealed. It's a form-fitting outfit crafted of some dark material. It looks a bit like velvet. Worked into it are dozens of gems which already sparkle in the fading light.

Casting her hands upward, she draws the reflected light to herself, and when the Last Light is blocked by the mountains, she dances. With that first step back into her dance, music can be heard. Its source is inside the concert hall, and by cunning design it seems to come from every direction.

Shining brightly with the music, Elly moves through the crowd. As she does, she pauses here and there. The child that Haru saw earlier is her first stop. The Baroness lingers there as the Lander child plucks the first glowing star from her magical crown. And it continues to glow with the Last Light.

It is not only for children, but for everyone, that this offering is made. It seems most guests are swiftly able to discern what they are meant to do. And even when the crown of stars is gone, the shining gems on her clothing slip out easily enough.

All of those little gems keep glowing. A practiced and attentive eye might catch the dancer tapping into magic pots to keep up all those little bits of light. It cannot last very long, of course, but she will strive to manage it until she's got nothing left in the tank.

While this is taking place, the crowd grows, and the food carts are now joined by dessert carts. It seems green tea themed desserts are common in Eas. There are many traditional cakes, as well. And, at least something like carrot cake. Blame the Barrista for that. Without it, Elly would cry and that would hardly inspire celebration!

Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

When the music eminates from the concert hall Kauchemar holds up her hands, clearly away from any instrument. This is not her doing, nor her moment to be in the proverbial spotlight.

That belongs entirely to Wake and her display.

At her turn she plucks one tiny sparkle, while grabbing Wake's hand with the other and giving her a fancy twirl. "Like a living twilight, all the stars in the sky are merely sprinkles to your shiny personality," she waxes poetically, before releasing the woman back amongst the crowd.
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru offers a jovial short laugh and smile at Rylen's comment about the Peko. It was like the beastmaster read his mind, there. "Warms me faster than wine to hear the Peko is being taken of so. I literally can not think of a better place for care than the man who runs a Peko Ranch. We were in the area not too long ago to check on Slime Labs. Next time I am in the area I will stop by and see how they are doing." And with a race coming up, the Artificer assumes it will be plenty lively to boot. He gives space for the charming man to woo Fuka and Viv with that natural charisma, turning his attention to Curtana next.

"Curt," he calls out, moving over before being able to hear what he was saying. "Forgot how to handle your liquor, buddy," he teases to the light blush on the knight's face. Haru smiles as he sips his glass of wine, "or did the performance get you? Kau is such a talented musician. Penned just for this place, an anthem. The Baroness is a well loved woman." A head tilt to The Beautiful One, a goddess. "Very fitting."

A turn to Wake's ceremony, giving it is turn to be enjoyed and appreciated. "Magically so." Haru sips his wine, appreciation seeming quite sincere.
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang was certainly not expecting Wake to make herself the center of some sort of what she can only think of as performance art. Are religious rituals like this in Yamato? She should probably have paid closer attention to the civics-type background info when she first entered the game. She will pluck a sparkle when Wake passes by, glancing at it thoughtfully as Wake moves on, spreading the emotion among all the attendees.
Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Viviene lets out a laugh. "It was sort of a whim to join, but I knew I had to get in on the guild after I dueled Yuuki, was one of the best matches I ever had, and I'm looking forward to the next one. But yes, I think its time to attack the dinner table. That is the current mission." Viviene stated with a wink, enthusiasm in her tone. When Miho calls to her, disgusted at her food choices, she shrugged. "I'd rather the kids at the orphanage at the town of beginnings get the good food. I can handle basic rations for as long as I need - thats what moments like this are for!" she said, already on the way towards the dining table.

The display and dance Wake puts on catches Viviene's attention as she gets to the table, she opts to respectfully wait a few moments and appreciate the performance. She does pick up on the theming of the event, and plucks her own little gem, looking upon it for a moment, holding it up to examine it gently. She keeps it in hand for now, respecting the dance.
Fukaziroh
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Fuka returns Wake's hug enthusiastically, if not quite so dignified as the noble lady. Some might see it like a child hugging an adult, and they probably wouldn't be far wrong at that. She doesn't mind though. She's never minded anyone considering her childlike; children know how to have fun after all! Though admittedly she looks somewhat less like a child right now than she usually does. Ah corsetry, such magic indeed.

After releasing Wake to do her duty and share in the celebrations, Fuka returns her attention to the men. The poor men. Curt's blush is noted and thoroughly enjoyed, and Rylen's bold confidence is no surprise. Alas, despite her teasing she's only really interested in one right now. Playing is fine and all, but even Fuka can admit to wanting to be at least a little adult now and then.

"First pick?" Fuka murmurs to herself, turning to stare at Haru directly. All playfulness aside she's not actually the flirty type, and he hasn't given her an opening. Well fine then, she'll give him one. Blushing just slightly, she approaches. "Well, I'm sure a man like you must have an absolutely incredible girlfriend." she says to Haru. "But the Baroness promised me first pick, and you are rather ridiculously attractive and all that. You wouldn't want to disappoint her, would you?"

Later she might acquire a glowing star from her Aunt. Perhaps when the woman's rounds of the room bring them close once again... but for now, she's only got eyes for one star.
Curtana
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru calling out to him has Curtana raise a hand in greeting, but it takes him a few moments of puzzling over the liquor comment before he starts to laugh. "Hahah, more a bit of the performance and still trying to get used to Fuka's teasing, truth be told. The performance was wonderful though, and honestly inspiring. I'm no musician in any sense of the word, but you can tell...Kau, was it?-you could tell that Eas was the sole inspiration for that piece."

The last beam of light being channeled between two peaks remind Curtana of a similar usage of light in a story back at home. It's quite poetic how a story that he mentioned off handedly only a week ago in the presence of the Baroness seems to appear once more, and a melacholy smile forms on Curtana's lips. "In a sense, this is a Mountainhome..."

Curtana sees his chance to do his own bit of teasing, and elbows Haru gently in the ribs with a sly smile. "The Baroness wouldn't want to be disappointed, and she would likely be displeased if you didn't make Fuka happy. I'm quite certain your girlfriend would understand as well, so go on."

Curtana would patiently wait until the Baroness graces him with her presense before taking one of the gently shining gems. Holding it upwards inbetween two fingers, he continues to smile at the tiny spark of pure light held within. "So fragile yet so beautiful. Something worth protecting."
Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The shadow that passes over Rylen's features is brief, just a glimpse beneath the mask of a performer who is very good at always putting forth a smile even in trying circumstances. "It's my greatest hope to match any wayward pekos with new owners who will take care of them. So hopefully I'll find someone who will give them a good home." The mention of the ranch, however, gets a slightly more reserved response. "Hopefully we'll re-open the ranch soon. The place has been like home to me and is good training for those who want to work with animals. Hopefully when all this ends, we can get things back up and running."

He quiets briefly in order to pay proper respect, both for Kauchemar and then later Wake's performances. As a performer, himself, he knows how to give time to allow others to shine. It's also when he realizes that a certain someone is eyeing up Haru. He nudges the crafter with one elbow, motioning towards Fukaziroh but saying nothing, only seeming to offer quiet encouragement. He may be a flirt, but he also knows when to try to push someone else in the right direction.

For Viviene, he does give another nod of understanding, "Yuuki is pretty amazing, though I'll admit to never having a chance to fight her, myself. Dueling isn't really my thing." Rylen laughs softly, "Still, if Yuuki thinks you're good, then I look forward to seeing you fight, someday."

In time, when it seems appropriate, he likely receives one of the gems as well, which is held briefly in his hand before he removes a sort of accessory made from a remarkably large peko feather. The gemstone is slipped into a tight weave of leather cord that holds feather to one of the braids in his hair. A flicker of light comes from the gem and down across the feather. Focusing his eyes on Wake, Rylen closes his eyes, repeating a phrase in his mind: RYLEN_HAGALAZ_PEKO_ARMY_FEHU_AURA_ARTONELICO

It sends a flash of inspiration to the Baroness, bolstering the beauty of her dancing and accentuating the impact of the moment.
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"Yeah she does that," Haru replies to Curtana on the topic of Fuka's teasing but doesn't go further into it without shifting to the commentary back onto Kau's performance. "You should talk to her about it. Kau's process is really inspiring to hear about and the results speak for themselves."

A smile is placed on Fuka's face as she approaches. "No bites, huh," he teases her, "well thank you. I do try to look like a pretty accessory for Wake to help you pick out." His eyebrows waggle, raising his glass but realizing it is a touch low now. "And my first duty will have to be to find a nice drink for us and, I /do/ believe I spotted some cookies and cake as well." A wink or a blink with that one blue eye.

Haru steps away from the blushing Fuka to top off his wine glass and also grab one for her. He finds a nice port with a grape-y taste to it and also a bit of mellow cake to compliment that on a dish. "A dish for a dish," he tells the small Sylph, cake first and glass second.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Eventually, the last gem of light is given away, and the Baroness stands where she started, now diminished. All around in the crowd, the little lights continue to cast off illumination. While Wake is a Legend, that doesn't give her awareness of its use. She can only sense that the performance has meant something by seeing it in the faces of the Landers.

She calls out, "As the Last Light was given to me, I give to you!" She lifts her arms to the heavens, and with one last, intense display, burns every bit of mana she has left.

The sky simply erupts in light. Into every little light an aurora flows from the sky. The strain of it shows on Elly's face, but hopefully everyone is looking upward. Just a little more. It lasts a few seconds and the sky light fades. In the hands of the gathered people, the little stones flicker, and the light seems to flow into their bodies.

"The Last Light now shines in you forever! On your hearts, darkness may never fall!"

The music grows softer with this pronouncement, and all around, the shutters of lanterns are opened, allowing their soft light to drive back the darkness. And call attention to the many culinary wonders that remain to enjoyed. There is no lack.

Relieved to be in the shadows, Wake calls upon her stealth to spirit her away from any Lander nobles who might want a word or an opinion on some matter. She finds a nice bench, near a clearing where the few children in Eas have decided to chase each other around. Anyone who knows where her heart truly lies will know she's there. And she's soon joined by her fiancee.

Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho has been entraced for a little while watching the Baroness dance. She has lost track of time for a moment as she watche the whole affair play out even as the food comes in, she looks at her. "It's pretty to do so given how many adventurers can make them."

She keeps gaping at Viviene as she comes out of teh trance from the dance.
Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The smell of good food can no longer be ignored, but she was definitely left struck with a bit of awe with the performance, and just has a small grin on her face, seeing as Wake had absconded, she seems understanding of such a manuever and begins taking out a selection of food, more food than would befit her size, and takes a cut out of a some roasted meat similar to ham, and devours it in a few bites, looking at Miho as they stare at her, she swallows, takes a drink of water, in particular then said. "Mh? Why the stare?" she gestures Miho over. "Come, you're free to join in on the food!"
Fukaziroh
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Fuka beams at Haru, clearly delighted with the response even if there's teasing there. Perhaps more so because of it. "No bites? Well... okay, since there's cakes you're safe. For now!" she promises lightly.

She follows along with Haru in search of wine, which seems to be an easy hunt indeed. Soon she has cake and drink both, happily so. She doesn't immediately dig in however. No, first there is performance, and Fuka's enough of a fan of stage and song to be captivated by Wake's display. It's enough to make her forget herself... but only for a moment.

Soon enough she finds herself back with Haru, both in body and mind, smiling and laughing over cake and wonderful company.
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang watches the final display and is now entirely impressed with Wake's performance. If nothing else, the Landers have seen what is surely a wondrous performance, clearly linked with Wake's status as a Priestess of the Beautiful One. Her glance turns on Rylen for a long, considering moment, but then back to Wake, and she nods gravely in understanding. As the focus of the evening shifts from Wake's Blessing to Wake's Catering, and Wake hersef slips away, she will move in the direction she expects Wake went, and park herself, sipping from a champagne glass of juice, and intercept any Landers that may want a bit of Wake's time. She has her own way of dealing with Landers; as something of a polyglot, she can engage them on a number of subjects that may distract them from their goal.
Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho says "I never met anyone who would tolerate that soul destroying flith to save money." She sighs then grins "I think, I shall!" Her tail is swahing as she heads for the table now she totally going to ahve fun with this. "I'm Miho by the way, you?"
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

There is a part of Wake's peformance that Haru can't quite wrap his heart around. Yet it is more of a nuance so Haru raises his glass for that. This time it is full. A cheers and clink of the wine glass with Fuka before a sip. Of course they are not the only ones getting food.

"Miho, Viv, nice to see both of you here. Try the cake, its really good," he suggests, though grins at Viv, "though the alcohol isn't quite pure spirits. Yet." He is sure there is stronger stuff around, but he has been sticking to wine so far. It dawns on him, "Ooh, you two haven't met before?"
Curtana
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

A stirring against his senses, like a feather being lightly dragged across the hairs on your neck. That sensation draws Curtana up short, and he purses his lips as he glances around. As Wake calls upon the last senses of their mana to create the aurora, his eyes linger upon Rylen then the Baroness for a moment before he starts to ease his shoulders. Whatever took place certainly wasn't in the norm as he's used to, and Curtana's eyes keep flicking back towards Rylan even as the rest of the party continues around him.

Having missed the results of the actual blessing and seeing that Haru and Fuka are now interacting with one another, he decides to take Haru's advice. Despite the main courses and desserts being brought out, the knight carefully only takes a glass of champagne before beginning his search for the signular artist. The search wouldn't need to take long, and he bows in greeting upon meeting Kau. "That anthem that you played earlier this evening was quite beautiful. May I ask how you were able to create such an artistic artpiece?"
Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

There is a relaxed expression on Rylen's features, even as his silver eyes open again to take in the final moments of the Baroness' performance. That little nudge of power, it is what little he can do to help her better demonstrate the importance of this night for the people of Eas. Besides, as a performer, himself, he knows how to make a good show into a great one.

He shifts his eyes to meet Yeowang's for a moment, then inclines his head towards her, offering no more confirmation than that. Instead, Rylen makes his way to collect a glass of wine. There are others who clearly had noticed his 'interference' but many wouldn't know just what sort of effect he had in the show being put on and he is just fine with that. No good performer gives away all their secrets.

When it comes to secrets, however, he is relatively good at reading people. Enough so to understand that Wake may want some relief from the limelight. So, his attempts at attracting company for the night having failed, he decides that perhaps his time is best set elsewhere.

"A remarkable performance, m'lady." His voice sounds from nearby where Wake and her fiancee have settled. "I hope you didn't mind me assisting a bit at the end." Of course, Rylen doesn't know if Wake would even realize the strange power he had used, but he seems open enough to admitting it.
Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Viviene lets out a laugh, though a distant look on her face shows for a moment "Have you ever had military rations while on field? They're worse. Its like eating an old boot. You get used to it." she said to Miho, but her expression slowly turns into a grin, and gestures to herself. "Viviene. I'm a new member of the Sleeping Knights guild. A mercenary and duelist." she noted to Miho. "Good to meet you, Miho. I saw you during the rescue. You did well." she compliments. Viviene is not carrying her other weapons presently, just the Katana, but she had been carrying a massive greatsword normally saved for the heavy blade class that day. "Still doing what you can to help, I hope?" she asks of Miho.

Viviene waves to Haru, and nods "I'll get to the cake eventually, I want a good taste of everything! I'm just not that big on sweets." she admits.
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"My heart happens to like the darkness, thank you," Kauchemar retorts playfully to Wake, "but there will always be a bright spot for the likes of you."

Speaking of darkness, the true full night has come. And time for the Nightmare Bard to come out fully to play. She strolls over to her initial position, this time retrieving her Grindcore Staff from where it has been resting. Then strolls back over to stand before the fountain and the statue.

Time to get a real party started.

It starts with just tapping a hoof to get herself a beating rhythm started. Her tail flicks from side to side like a natural metronome. One hand holds her staff while the other starts tapping the same rhythm against it with her fingertips, causing little flickers of colorful light to flash around the heavy metal skull topping the item in the same sequence. It's not technically an instrument, yet at the same time its enchantments help the bard in conjuring her attention grabbing music into being in short but energetic beats. And then she raises her own voice with the Song as well.

" o/~ Stamp on the ground; jump jump jump jump.
Moving all around; tep tep da dow.
Stamp on the ground; jump jump jump jump.
Moving all around; we're jumping all around!

Dub dub dub, dub dub dub-dub-dub, Dub dub dub, dub dub dub-dub
Dub dub dub, dub dub dub-dub-dub, Dub dub dub, dub dub dub-dub... Jumping all around! o/~"

And that's when Kauchemar strikes the butt end of the staff to the ground. "DROP THE BEAT!"
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Briefly the darkness returns, almost even thicker than before. But then color comes to it, shades of the rainbow flashing in and out of sight, the staff's power of illusionary magic recreating an arcane approximation of club neon and laser lights upon the darkness of night as Kauchemar raises the staff again and starts to dance along with her recreation of a dance club vibe.

" o/~ We're sending out an invitation... to everyone, in every nation
But don't sleep, get on the run
Stop thinkin' and have some fun!

Stamp on the ground; jump jump jump jump.
Moving all around; tep tep da dow.
Stamp on the ground; jump jump jump jump.
Moving all around; we're jumping all around! o/~ "
Miho
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Miho says "Hello Haru and no I have not. So far as I know..." She looks at Viviene for a moment and stares again.

"They have taste and texture to them the menu food has none, none what so ever... lets just go eat and thank you. Aye I'm processing as many orders as I can. At this rate I might start getting forge gods attention at the rate I'm producing things."
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Wake looks up as Rylen approaches. "Thank you, Rylen!" She is confused for a second, then it dawns on her. "Ahh, is that why there was such a strong reaction? You have it, too." By which she means Legend. It makes her curious, but she doesn't want to hit him with 20 questions.

Tae offers a little wave, "How have you been, handsome? Taking a break from saving the world?" She scoots closer to the Baroness, leaning against her fiancee's shoulder. "Grab a seat, if you have time to join us."

Elly nods her agreement, "Please do! Would you like something to eat or drink? There's so much to eat."

Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

There is a lift one of Rylen's pale eyebrows as he makes note of that particular wording. It doesn't particularly surprise him that Wake, of all people, would share a similar unusual power to the one that had been granted to him. She is, afterall, someone of great importance. "I would say I'm surprised but..." His laugh is soft, "Couldn't have happened to a nicer lady." He raises his wine glass to her as if in a silent toast.

Tae's greeting has that smile lingering, "You know, sometimes you do wish the world would just stay saved for a few days, right?" He isn't one to turn down the invitation, so he joins the pair with relative ease, leaning a little forward and lightly moving the glass of wine at the mention of if he needed anything. "I think this will be good for now."

He seems to expect at least some of the questions Wake might offer, so he preemptively motions one hand towards the peko feather dangling from that braid in his hair. "A gift given to me as a hero of the Peko Army. For services in their defense of Ninetails. It... seems to allow me to give support to others when they need it." Then, with a pause, he asks, "You?"
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"Hah, as for me I have quite the sweet tooth," Haru admits to Viv on the topic of food of choice. "Miho here is a good friend and gives me space in her store to put up the accessories I make. Not to mention shelter on some of the most difficult projects," the Enchanter says, chatting up Miho's greatness, "also? One extremely talented smith. I'm surprised the Forge Gods haven't annointed you an avatar or something by now." That isn't a thing. He thinks. He thumbs over to Viv, "Meanwhile you break weapons like they are made of rice paper." A grin. He offers a bit of a wave before heading onwards.

It turns out Yeowang is the next person that Haru approaches. Well, Yeo and any of the Landers she is sheparding. The Enchanter smiles, "Evening Yeo. Are you having a good time?"
Viviene
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Viviene lets out a laugh at Mihu and Haru's words, speaking amicably. "I'm just used to it. Its not that I don't like good food though." she said as has piled up a rather notable 'salad' of various fruits and vegetables, and even some meats, all together, beginnint go eat in earnest, in between a bite and swallow, she mentions. "I'm a dabbling smith, mostly to repair my weapons. If you ever need help with some less complicated works, I could use the income." she said, but she gestures to Haru. "As Haru said, I often break my weapons way too easily.. too much strength stat, but hey, it pays off in many other ways, having a constant repair bill is a small price to pay!"
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The Baroness listens to Rylen intently. The explanation is a surprise. "It works the same, but I was given the Legend when this place was built. The Beautiful One granted it to me. Which eventually started me on the journey I am on now. I didn't realize you and I had this ability in common. It's a wonderful gift, being able to help others."

Tae has nothing to add to the Legend chat, but listens politely until there's a break for her to sneak into. "I wish it would remain saved for a few years," she agrees. "But this world seems bent on high drama to mingle with-and interrupt-attempts at romance."

Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang is standing around, enjoying a quiet evening by herself when Haru approaches, having discouraged the last Lander to try and intrude on Wake by mentioning certain financial obligations he was behind on, and wondering if he needed a loan. He was not pleased to pay the interest rates she quoted, much higher than her actual rates, so he excused himself. She seems to have dirt on a lot of important Landers, if it comes to that.

When Haru approaches, then, he will find her standing quietly by herself. "Good evening, Haru," she replies. "Yes, I am quite enjoying the event. How are you finding it?"
Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Haru finds it a little easier to be honest around Yeowang. It could be that they both have that shard of utilitarianism in them that create both distance and clarity. He stands besides her instead of facing her, raising his drink to his lips and looking over the area with his blue eye. "I am finding it delightful. Wake and Kau never fail to put on a memorable event, right? I think that in light of everything going on that this is just what is needed." A head turns, "also the upcoming Peko races. Karen is a draft Peko but she loves to give those her all." Meant for farm work and the earth, not racing. "Are you planning on riding in the upcoming event? Since we were attacked in the last one, I'd certainly feel safer with you in the pack."
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Zooming around in front of the adventurers and their conversation, a child skids to a halt and fixes his eyes on Rylen. There's a jolt of excitement in his eyes and he claps his hands. Boldly, the child moves forward. Judging by his height, he is perhaps five or six years old. "I know who you are! Someday I'm going to be peko on a knight and we will save the world!"

Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"Interesting." Rylen gentuinely seems intrigued. "It seems like there are many paths to coming into these sort of powers. I am glad for the beneficial impact on others, though." He looks between Wake and Tae then lets out a humorless laugh, "As a young man, I was a pretty selfish individual. It took a lot of bad turns to realize that life is about more than that."

Tae's comment about romance has another chuckle as he lifts the glass to his lips and sips at it, "Mmm. I know that problem all too well. It's good to see you two back together, though." His smile for them is real, even if there is that shadow of some pain behind his eyes, "I haven't seen my partner in months. Not since just after this all started. I never expected that I'd be the one waiting on word if my soldier was ever going to come home or not. Leaves a man a little uncertain where he stands."

He shrugs then, knowing that it is a topic best not delved too far into. Thankfully, the boy skidding to a halt in front of him has Rylen putting on one of his biggest smiles. "Is that so? You know, I've heard some of the best Peko Knights bonded with their Pekos just after they hatched. When they were just little chicks. They grow up along side one another and learn to fight together." He grins, "Of course, that's up to your parents, but... If you ever want to learn more about Pekos, I'm your man."
Yeowang
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

Yeowang looks a bit surprised as Haru speaks with her, she's not actually accustomed to talking with Guildies. "Yes, those performances wre both quite breathtaking," she agrees in response to the praise for Wake and Kauchemar. "Indeed, the Landers are certainly much better off with a solid morale boost." And -this- she knows as if reading a status buff: Patriotic Pride. For her, with guildies, it's so often all business, and she doesn't mind that, but ... and it turns out this isn't a /purely/ social visit in any event. But that's fine, she knows exactly where her worth lies, and it involves hitting people until they fall down. "I wasn't planning on entering the Peko race, no," she admits. "I don't ride, and I'm much more comfortable on my own feet. But if you like, I suppose I can attend. I heard the last one was attacked, but the players in attendance gave a good accounting of themselves, taking care of the issue before any harm could befall?"
Kauchemar
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

In another life and time Kauchemar was a proper club deejay, and it shows. It doesn't take her long to get the proper party mood going, while showing off a bit of what her unique staff is capable of doing.

And somewhere in between ending her performance and letting the party settle into it's own celebrating groove the Were Fang Nightmare as come to stand near Curtana. She has this knack for being there even when you didn't see her a moment ago, like she knew that's where she should be at a specific moment. "A lot of blood, sweat, tears and jow went into the rising of Eas into it's own entity." Ah, so she did hear the previous inquiry, it just got sidelined as she was establishing her performance. The staff now held loosely in both hands, as she's leaning a bit on it while catching her figurative breath. "Who could not be inspired to immortalize it in proper song? To remind the people both where they came from, and to look forward to the future."
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

The parents of that child are not far away, but they have grown rather accustomed to the safety that Eas provides. Being rescued has an effect. Interestingly, this may be the first time any Landers have been so near two Legends. The reputation of both of them projects safety, protection, and care.

"You would make a fine knight, I bet," Elly says gently. She reaches out to playfully tousle the boy's hair. "If you parents do approve, perhaps we might arrange something." She looks over to Rylen curiously, "Are there any hatchlings on their way at your ranch?"

More clearly, she notes, "After all, even if you do not end up serving as a knight, we all benefit from learning how to ride." Considering how Wake is on her steed, Tae's ability to surpress her laughter at this comment demonstrates saintly restraint.

Haru
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"I don't ride either," Haru says with a bit of a laugh, "so you'll be in good company. Still something to be said about cascading down a hill along a seafoam beach along others that really gets your heart going." A smile and a sip of the wine as he talks to Yeo. Is he being /nice/ to Yeo? Clearly this Haru is a doppleganger hacker imposter. "We did. I was right at the front because I was right at the back," he makes a motion of where the race track was, "and it was a true test of character that so many went back to fend off the assault." The Enchanter rolls the wine around in the glass. "I think you'd have fun, but," he takes a couple steps away, "just my opinion." He raises his glass in an 'enjoy the night' non-verbal gesture as he makes his way to Kau.

A wave it tipped in the Nightmare's direction for all the solid work. "Kau, you slay. As usual." He grins wide, "We have to have a duel in Carmina, with as flash as both of us are, it'll be striking entertainment for the League and the bystanders." Though the real focus here is Curt, motioning between the two, "have you met Curt?"
Rylen
Castle Eas - Dome of Stars

"We're heading into the colder months, so I expect that we won't see hatchlings again until spring." Rylen answers, seeming thoughtful at this. He reaches up, likely stroking the scruff at his chin. "The ranch was too much of a strategic point, so we mostly boarded the place up and have it shut down at the moment. We couldn't let the Palace Landers have access to it. But... I plan on re-opening when things are over. And I do have some strings I could pull with the Peko Army to get some hatchlings if there is enough interest."

He looks between the pair once again, a chuckle rising from him. "Well, if you know anyone at all that needs a few lessons, feel free to let me know. And, if you know of anyone that might make a good owner for a Peko we reclaimed from the Palace Landers, I'm still looking for someone to adopt the one abandoned during the Battle of Eas."

It is at that moment that he realizes that his wine is getting very low. "Ahh, looks like my drink is empty. That is probably sign enough that I should retire for the evening. But, I would like to talk more in the future if you'll have me. About the war, about ways of improving matters for our friends and allies, about developing Eas... I want to see us all succeed and help as many as we can along the way."

Yeowang smirks at the suggestion she'd be in good company by being unable to ride. "Are so many so desperate to win?" she wonders thoughtfully. "But no, I find my excitement levels quite high enough," she explains, and as he bids her good evening, she returns the gesture. "I am sure you will perform well, in whatever demands the race places upon you," she says carefully. She clearly has little interest in embarassing herself with the pitiful racing performance she would put on. Though now it occurs to her that if there is no betting arrangement on the Peko race, that it should certainly be organized.

"Our unfriends from across the waters have made a mess of things," agrees Elly. She looks to the child, seeing the ghost of fear on his face. "But we'll triumph one way or another. And then we will have new friends and by the will of the Goddesses, we will have peace." It seems enough to drive those fears away.

She and Tae both rise to see Rylen off properly. Curtseys, of course, set in a matching pair, each complimenting the other as the Baroness changes her posture to better align with Tae's. "You are always welcome. And you know I love feeding guests," Tae says warmly. "Especially handsome ones."

Elly laughs gently, "And I would be happy to talk about whatever you wish. As for the peko, I'll keep my eyes open. Oh, and I've been doing a few new things to keep people abreast of matters. Yuuki will be delighted to learn that I've found new paperwork to do." Much friendly mockery can be expected.

Rylen

Rylen leaves the reassurances to Elly and Tae. As the leaders of Eas, they are the ones that the people here look to first and foremost, regardless of what sort of renown or recognition he might have.

The beastmaster returns their gestures with a gracious bow, making sure to lightly take Tae's hand and place a kiss upon the back of it. "It is always a pleasure, Lady Tae, Elly." He offers them a gracious smile.

"I'll be heading up to Ninetails for a bit, to assist with some of the preparations there against the Palace Landers, but I imagine I'll be back shortly after that. Until we've driven them out of Mac Anu, Eas will need the extra protection and I'm glad to offer my services."

With that, he inclines his head to them both, then makes his way back towards the bustle of the party. Perhaps for food, perhaps to share a dance or two with any individuals who might seek his favor. It is a good night to celebrate, as who knows what the morrow might bring.
Curtana

When Curtana first saw Kauchemar and how they played such a beautiful melody, he thought her as an elegant artist. Someone who was a master of the strings that she played and would likely be seen in concert halls if it wasn't for the ongoing war. Then they start up a new song completely unlike the previous one they played. The differences between the two were like a neon-flooded flashbang to his senses, and it takes him a few moments for him to realize that the performance had been ended.

Calming himself and schooling his features of the shock that likely was still there, he coughs softly into a closed fist. "Um, that does make sense. I admit, I know little about the rising of Eas, but such a piece that you played has stirred me. You should be quite proud of what you have managed to capture in song."

And in comes Haru, smoothly sliding into the conversation as if he was a founding member. With that, Curtana would take a quick bow towards Kauchemar. "Forgive my manners. I'm Curtana Willowbright, a member of Moon Tree and just a simple knight of no reputation. Pleasure to meet you."

Kauchemar dips forward with her staff to bow properly to Curtana. "A pleasure." Then rights herself, uncurling a finger from the staff to point at Haru. "And that would be great. Always nice to see how other summoners work their style, as it's more of a secondary venue for myself." She lifts a hand to flick her bangs out of her face, then regrips the staff as she stands properly. "But if you will excuse me, I've got another number or two in me yet to run this party into the night."
Haru

Haru raises a hand to Kau as she goes back to making the party be a party. "Likewise with you and your binders. Hopefully we can get the arena going," the Enchanter lowers the hand with a pat on Curt's shoulder, excusing himself as well to make a final round of socializing. Its social muscle memory. He has done it so many times with his family's events. Its almost its own rhythm. Like a Raid Party for fun. Finally he stops back to the hostess.

"Elly, if you don't mind me being so casual," Haru nods his head to Wake, "it has been a fantastic time. I'm due to head out and take one free spirited niece back with me." There is a processed smile on his face, "thank you for having me and I hope to see you at the next one." A bow. He finishes what is left of his wine glass and returns it to a nearby table.
Baroness Wake

Shortly after Rylen leaves, the little ones are drawn off to sleep. Even the littlest, who can barely keep her eyes open, protests, but with a gentle lullaby is calmed. Not by Wake, but by Tae.

Elly is on the bench. Strangely slumped when Haru approaches. For just a moment, he can catch sight of a deep sadness in her eyes. Or perhaps it's just imagination, because once she focuses on him, that calm of hers is back.

"I am delighted you enjoyed yourself," she says warmly. Her tone is hard to place as she says, "Please take good care of her, Haru. She's a wonderful young woman. You know, I think you are probably a good person, too. I'm happy you found each other."

The farewell is cut off after Tae directs a look at Elly. "I'm sorry, I had best get our Baroness to her bed," she says smoothly. "I hope you are able to stop by again. I've heard good things about you, Haru. But.." She gives her fiancee another look, "Another time is best for all of us, I think." After that, the couple departs.
