Duty Session 478: Haunted House On Ninetail Hill

An Obsidian level quest has been posted at the Hunters Guild in the Ninetails Dominion. A rather eccentric Monster Handler Lander named Rionnag Taisbeanadh, the owner of a rather sizable mansion a few miles out from Dun Loireag, was attempting to create a haunted house. But the problem is that it has gotten a 'bit too haunted' for his liking, and he has requested Adventurers to please go through his house to minimize the amount of monsters in his house without making a mess of the place.

Difficulty:    Average
Rec. Party:    4+
Rewards:       1
World Impact: A safe Haunted House!

Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

The Ninetail regions have been suffering undead problems for quite some time, and the festival season of darkness certainly isn't helping. Fukaziroh, after participating in the race, decided to stick around to bring some light to the region. Or fire, as the case may be. Perhaps even sick beats. Whatever's needed!

Catching notice of a haunted mansion mission she almost rolls her eyes. So cliched of a seasonal quest, but that's what makes it fun! She's quick to sign up despite the relatively low level and likely correspondingly low reward because, well, that's what you do with seasonal quests! True gamers would surely understand.
Naniko
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Naniko doesn't really care if it's tacky or cliche. Ghosts are fun when they're not trying to kill you...they were more fun when they were just imaginary, but still fun. And skeletons and stuff, too...more fun when imaginary...still fun.
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"Well, give them credit for not going for the standard rundown and boarded up style for the exterior," Kauchemar comments as the group is gathered. Then has to crane her head back a bit. "That's tall." Then looks down for some reason, peering at the seam between the floor and one of the walls. "Nope, looks legit. No forced perception or moving panels to mimic stretching." What is the Were Fang going on about? There's a fair chance few here might get it, but that's neither here or there. "But if they used real skulls, that'd be something..."
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Baroness Wake really had a lot to do, but it just so happens some of her people aren't too far from this place. She eyes the haunted house and shakes her head. "Goblin maintenance. How unexpected."

Her attention diverts to the others and, as is her way, curtseys. "I trust everyone will have a wonderful time in this haunted.." She pauses, not quite sure what to call it. "... establishment."

Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang is in the area, organizing the local Red Chain groups with some new ideas that have been filtering up through the organization lately, implementing some of the good ideas group-wide. There is sometimes resistance, but her role as head of the group smooths much of that over.

But when the call comes to help with a problem locally, well, she can't not help. That'd be anathema to her organization's purpose. It's not too much effort, anyhow, and she will earn XP, so it's all good.
Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Soujiro Seta is a recent arrival to the Adventurer community. Re-arrival? Returnal? His kind eyes and warm smiles seem familiar to those from before the whole 'lets get stuck in an Apoc' eventage. The reason for taking on this Hunter's Guild request is simple: It seems like fun. Spooky haunted house with actual spooky potential? And there is even an opportunity to get in constant training while having a good time.

"Very tall," Souji says as his eyes roll up the full majesty of the ten floor tower-mansion. "I wonder if each floor has a theme," he says like this was a seasonal event in a game and not something far more serious. Not too far in the distance there are three cluck clucks that have wandered in and appear to be following the samurai. Natural magnetism, it seems. "I hope you will as well," he offers Wake a warm smile. Everyone should have a good time! Plenty of jumpscares and screams and clings to be had. The best.
Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Ah the undead problem, the problem that really let Setsuna come out of his shell and really start making a name for himself and so here he is . As he approaches the haunted house of the year he looks it over and whistles to himself, "Really gone out this year haven't they. What happens to these houses when the festival is over?" Looking over at the group that has gather he eyes Kauchemar and smiles, "This isn't a trick to get us to clean out your house right?" The sly grin and sarcasm would be evident he is pulling the nightmares leg.
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Kauchemar pauses to glance over her shoulder at Setsuna's first question, and smirks slyly. "You ever see the movie Monster House?" Then turns back ahead, only to be handed a map, and a key passed to the group. Watches the owner walk away. "... Am I the only one that is only -more- supicious that we've been given useful items off the bat?" But she shrugs, and seeing as this kind of makes her the 'leader' unofficially, takes the lead.

Into the first room, cobwebs, and some very fresh hands. Being an equine she's got plenty of hindequarters for a few grabs to get at, her tail snapping at the offending fingers like flies. "Gah! K-Mart Discount Wallmasters!" She KICKS the wall with a hoof. "BAKA!" Someone can be heard whining on the other side for getting rattled.

You might want to rethink about pulling that leg, Setsuna.

With a huff she rustles the map... "Anyone got a light? This is dark even for my monster vision." Or she might just be playing along now. "Make sure someone has the key."
Naniko
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Plucking the key from Kauchemar's hand, Naniko says, "I got this," she says. Moving to the door, she inserts the key and jiggles it...then jiggles it again. She then huffs and slips a couple thin pieces of metal from under her bracers. In a moment, the door opens. "I will hang onto the key for when we actually need it," she says, pulling the door open and gesturing people through.
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"Don't worry Aunt Elly, we have Setsuna here to raise our spirits!" Fukaziroh observes brightly. Yes, she's having a wonderful time at least. And bad puns raise everyone's spirits right?

She tries hard not to laugh as they're given a key and she begins to see the truth of what's going on here. "Oooooooooooh, this is scaaaaaaary!" she hams it up. Okay this is going to be awesome. Hopefully no one kills any 'monsters' here. That would be unfortunate. Instead, not entirely sure she's following the spirit of things, she chants softly and calls a globe of light to her hand. "Got your back, Kaumare." Fuka says confidently.
Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang enters the hourse with the group and blinks at the dim light. When Kauchemar calls for light, she agrees, "It'll be easier with thar." Her initial plan is a torch, but the light it shes is eaten by the gloom of the place, and she frowns. There are rituals and such she can do, through the menu, as she's never worked on how to cast any of the shadowfist spells through gestures, but somehow she can't manage that, either. Or perhaps, being a shadowfist, Light isn't her specialty?
Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Setsuna shakes his head, "No no I deal with the hardware side of the undead. Spirits and souls that just has a whole lot of baggage and makes you want to just sing out in dark rage goth style...right Kauchemar?" There is a grin as he pokes at the nightmare again, nope nothing can go wrong here. Stepping up to the door and the walls have hands, "Oh hey are these the helping hands of myth I here all about. Let me just thank you all. " So what does Setsuna do, he begins to shake every hand as if he was running for president, keeping them to busy to steal a thing.
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"I should warn you, if any of these hands should grab inappropriately, vengeance shall be swift and terrible." With a glare at the cobwebs, the Baroness floods the area with light.

"And frankly, I've a mind to leave this place shorthanded as it is." At some point while following Kauchemar, Elly jumps. It happens briefly and she applies a painful looking grip to one of the hands.

"I'm sure we'll have a wonderful time, Fuka, dear." The Baroness looks over to Soujiro, "Oh, I am.. certainly getting a lot of.. joy out of this already."

Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

The concern over being handed key items like a map and a literal key is met with, "It means we are already a step ahead. We don't have to go find them now. You know, I think everything is going to be okay." The notion of anxiety doesn't come often. It probably rolls in one ear and out the other with this guy by the way he is smiling.

The samurai notices that lightning conditions are a little on the dim side. Of course they are, its a haunted house. A hand goes to get a bit handsy with the ladies here, like one going for Wake, and instinctively he reaches out to grab it, throwing the poor guy to the ground. "Oh," he says as laughs, "sorry guy. Let me patch that up." The sword saint takes a still breath in. With the exhale, light comes from his hands in the form of fireflies. One of them lands on the assaulted haunted house staff, healing his wound. Shouji helps him up. "Doing a great job, keep at it," he thumbs up, walking with theparty towards the destination with a low-key more 'maybe we shouldnt grope this group' from the handsy people. Bonus? The fireflies provide ambient light so it is more difficult to get lost! One of them helps over over near Kau's map, though Wake's light more than handles it.
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Kauchemar brays a laugh at both Fuka's pun, and Wake's possibly unintentional one. It does keep things from being a bit too dreary despite the backdrop. "I'm the one that deals more in the spirit and supernatural side, yeah." She's got more than enough light to see now, and Naniko takes care of the door the map guides to even when the key doesn't seem to work. Easy peasy, moving on!

Into the next section that's already a cacophony of slamming doors and floor scratching furniture. Though as the party enters the chairs stop moving a moment, somehow give the impression of all doing a slow turn to glare at the group without having eyes to do so, and then leap from the floor to hurtle down the corridor towards them! Doors slam and clatter like dozens of horizontal mouths eager to chomp down!

"Cute." Kauchemar's eyes flash their psychedelic lavander glow and she snaps up her own arm, thrusts it out.. and several chairs just stop and drop to the floor as the spirits animating them are forcefully ejected.. and then tossed throw one of the doorways as she sweeps her arm aside, then the door slams closed and stays shut as a spirit is expelled from it as well.

"That will do a suiting demonstration of the difference in specialization, yes."
Naniko
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Naniko, being the one holding the door open, walks in just after and is immediately accosted by a vase. Her hand is already up, intercepting the thing like she does this every day. She sets it down and tosses her hand out the other direction, catching a book and carefully smoothing down the pages before setting it on a shelf as well as she moves through the room. "This is fun," she says.
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Wake looks back to Soujiro, her interest piqued. "You have remarkably good manners and you seem familiar somehow. But I don't think we've ever been in a party before."

She looks at the room ahead with some trepidation. "You know, I hate to be a one note contributor, but.." She strikes out at the animated furniture with blasts of pure light. A particularly threatening end table takes the brunt of her wrath. "When in a haunted house, blast everything with beams of light."

Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Setsuna looks at Kauchemar and nods his head understanding, " Right right, a demonstration. Prepared to be amazed." He snaps his fingers and from nowhere two skeleton servants rise up and go to fetch one of the moving chairs. After some foolery that is only right for a certain # of stooges they drag the chair to Setsuna and then the bones of the skeleton merge with it to make an impressive looking throne like chair, holding the chair in placce. Taking a seat he smiles, "Tada!"
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Fuka grins at Wake. Definitely not an unintentional pun there, she's sure. "Now now, I'm sure no one's going to grab anyone inappropriately here. Except maybe me." she observes playfully. Not that she does such things, or encourages others to do them. Her lechery is for the most part entirely hands-off, and she's got a sword to enforce it with!

"Oh hey, that's neat." Fuka observes as chairs rise up and begin coming at them. She stands ready, arms raised, ready to use her vambraces and sheer physicality to knock the chairs aside if necessary. When Kauchemar ejects binders from some of the chairs though, she stops to applaud. And then Wake gets in on it, putting light to good use. Fuka grins. "And to think if anyone gets tired, we have all these chairs to rest on!" she observes. "Though Setsu... something something bony arse."
Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang looks around the haunted house, and at the haunted house things, but she hasn't been scared by a haunted house since she was a toddler. Of course back home, a haunted house was just people in costumes, and what's scary about that? Here, it's real, but then again, it's real, so there's still nothing particularly unusual about it - supernatural is the new normal. A few of the grabby hands now sporting broken fingers would complain about how she deals with things, but she's always been straightforward. Wake would be pleased to know she wasn't grabbed inappropriately, but Wake was almost certainly never worried about her.

With the shuffling furniture, it's another annoying thing that's supernatural, but she's got practice getting her menu up and choosing a protective charm against intrustve home spirits. This time, she selects the correct charm, and several of the spirits find themselves no longer able to move furniture.
Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Shouji Seta meet Shoji Doors. Slam slam slam! The samurai looks at them as if they need to establish an unseen bond, from one Shouji to another Shoji. During that time a chair flies his way. One of his katanas is pulled from its saya in an iaido style counter attack. Not a conventional way of shielding as the second katana sweeps with the flow to redirect it to a wall where it crashes. "Thank you for making it effortless to be so cordial with such elegant grace," the samurai says with a warm smile to Wake. He doesn't go deep into where they may have crossed paths before, but is certainly up to the topic a little later on. Both of his swords cross at the next angry chair, holding it at bay for a time.
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

With two Summoner classes, some good defenders, and general users of Light the party has an almost trivial time with the haunted hallway, which finally ends in a flight of stairs taking them up to a more ramshackle looking third floor. Or it's just all the mirrors being tilted that gives it that appearance. She straightens a mirror as she walks past, and her 'reflection' (more likely a spirit mimicing it) shoots a glare after the Nightmare before bumping against the framed side to tilt it again, and disappears. A puppet drops down, flails about... then Kauchemar swats it aside with her staff, unphased. "Really, after the last show you're resorting to these cheap parlor tricks? I'm almost insulted, if this wasn't obviously some manner of distraction so we do--" Around a bend they turn, and a treasure chest sits against the far wall. "--Oh, maybe that's what the key is for." Kauchemar steps forward, reachs a hand out... then jerks just as the lid pops open to display rows of sharp teeth within and tries to snap down on her.

A moment later Kauchemar is standing with the group like she never left. "A mimic, now that's more of a proper jumpscare!" And now it's rumbling down the hall towards them, and with all those teeth and drooling tongue/pseudopods it looks hungry!
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Fukaziroh seems to be treating the haunted mansion with all due seriousness. That is to say she's oohing and aaahing and not at all frightened by any of it, simply in wonder of the creative messing about these people seem to be doing and entertained by the littlest things. Appropriately enough.

This changes when an actual mimic leaps up and attempts to bite. She squeals, just a little, and reacts as any girl might do. She thumps her mailed fist down on the top of the mimic's head, slamming the 'chest' shut. "Okay you got me on that one!" she laughs, suddenly taking this as something quite harmless that was only meant as a jumpscare instead of an actual monster likely to take someone's arm off.
Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Jumpscares! Where people jump, scream, and otherwise look the spooked. Shouji alas is not all spookys jump. He keeps an advance guard ahead of the hungry bane-of-Adventurers with a push back every time it snaps at Wake. Its a good game of coordinating with the party to keep the beastie at bay without letting it gobble up the amazing people he is traveling with. Samurai Protecc. He also gets a healthy laugh out of Fuka's scream, "it got you pretty good right there." Also a health bonk that leads to a grin. Mimic deserved that.
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Moving along with the group, the Baroness/Priestess seems rather relaxed. "I enjoy being in the company of so many able fighters." Elly laughs softly, "Don't get me wrong, I can generally handle myself in a fight, but.."

And that's about the time a mimic charges into view. She isn't too proud to admit it. She ducks behind Soujiro. She's not a horrible fighter, but she sure doesn't deliver any damage in this fight! Wait.. did she shriek, too?

    ... that can't be. Right?

Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang is, apparently, unflappable. At least not to -these- jumpscares. Now roaches, they'll make her jump. But anything big enough to be hit is going to get the worst of any exchange from her. Its a matter of being alert, there's no ritual for that, thnafully, and paying close attention to one's surroundings.

The crooked mirrors with the odd reflections? Not a threat. Chests that pop open? Anytning interesting inside? When Kauchemar approaches that one chest that's not quite like the others, Yeowang calls out "Kauche-" but it's too late. Oh well, she can give it a kicking, then, and see how it likes that?
Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Setsuna's eyes fall on the mimic just like he just saw a lost puppy, "AAwwww, it's so cute. Look at it's teeth you can see it's been chewing on things because of how clean they are. This thing is adorable and as long as we avoid it's territory I am sure it won't follow us." He then looks in his inventory and pulls out a leg of bison , still raw and tosses it into the mimics mouth. The noises it makes are absolutely nightmare fuel. He then gets up and walks away, "So then where too?"
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Everyone else seems to have things handled, but she can't really not help now can she. "I know what this needs, a friend." She makes an overly flamboyant gesture with one hand. "I cast SUMMON: PET ROCK." That can't really be a spell, can it? Or maybe it's just a small elemental. The point is that after everyone else physically backs the Mimic into the corner and Setsuna tosses it some food, Kauchemar gives it a friend to keep company. By dropping the 'pet rock' on top of it's lid so it can't open again after the undescrible display it makes of eating. "There we go. Shall we move on?"

Moving on as it were puts them up against more animated obstacles. This time in the form of several animate armors, notible both for their sharp weapons and their lack of a helmet. "Oooooh~" Kauchemar sounds almost giddy now. "Headless armor. I was wondering if this realm had the Dullahan variety. Not the sharpest monsters... but their weapons definitely are."
Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Nothing wrong with a good jumpscare! Shouji is a complete gentleman about Wake's prowess, saying, "You have the eyes of a lady who knows exactly what she wants and stops at nothing to get it. If thats not the soul of a warrior I don't know what is!" He gives a warm smile with complimentary kind eyes. "And with hitting that note I bet a lovely singing voice, too."

"It would be a shame to damage such priceless armor," Shoujiro says as he notices the helmetless spirits approaching. He keeps both of his katanas safely in their sayas for this one. So far he has been okay with just using his casual kimono garb, but he switches out for his red armor for this one. The samurai walks up to the slow moving armor confidently, sidestepping the first swipe and grabbing its arm. With a pull he dislocates, pulling it off and literally disarming the enemy. "All they really need is a helping hand," he says with a grin, throwing it at another to distract before moving to disarm another.
Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang is not afraid of a bunch of little toy soldiers, and if they're valuable, they're not particularly valuable to her. It's not like she'd get any gold by collecting them up and selling them to a toymaker or whatever. On the other hand, there's no need to do more damage than necessary to stop them from attacking. A swordstroke nicks the end of the toe from her boot. So, they need stopping, but a hunter's insight is key to doing just enough damage to stop them moving, without wasting time or effort.
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Fuka's filled with a warm feeling, seeing everyone be so considerate of the horrible slavering monster that she didn't totally scream for. No, more a squeal. And no the warm feeling isn't a blush. Well, not entirely at least. She gives Wake a funny look though. Was she not the only one caught off-guard by an actual monster in the middle of a cool haunted house mockup? In any event, it's nice they feed the horrible monster, drive it off, and don't like murder it or anything. Kaumare even gives it a pet rock! Awww how nice!

The monster theme isn't entirely finished though. Binder armour. Okay, that's incredibly cool. "Uh... that's sure some fancy armour." she muses, putting a hand on her sword's hit. Her greatsword which doesn't really need an edge to do damage because it can bludgeon clean through plate armor. Hmmmm... might not be the most considerate thing to use in this situation, and if they do too much damage, the next group to come through will face only battered armour! Fortunately Soujiro has a good idea and she follows suit, using her own experience and prowess to wrench at armour and dismantle it rather than doing it any significant damage. She grins at him. "My, are you flirting with my aunt good sir?" she asks.
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

The Baroness is not more effective this time around. When it comes time to let loose the power of light, it does little more than brighten the area around Soujiro, giving the handsome samurai a wonderful spotlight.

Perhaps that was meant to be a protective spell? Or maybe the priestess has a lot more to learn about her magic of choice. Or more likely.. Soujiro just has a really wonderful way with words and it is having an impact on Elly.

Hearing Faukziroh's accusation, the Baroness actually stumbles. The haunted house is clearly the reason she's off her game!

Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Setsuna looks at the headless armor for the moment and then over at Kauchemar, "Call it back Kauch, we need to move on. " Then as others interact with it he realizes that it's not Kauchemars. "You don't see spiritual armor like this every day. How is the quality Kauchemar?" As he waits to hear how it is a butterfly symbol appears on his forehead and he does his best to communicate to the spirit to just let them past, they don't need to fight and ruin the armor. It would be better to move on.
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"She also had a really good teacher," Kauchemar chimes in towards Soujiro and Wake, even as she sidesteps a swing. Big grumpy armored spirits with big swords and axes don't mean much when she can just shift through the shadows around them. Then she tilts her head at Setsuna doing his thing. "... Interesting trick you've got there..." in a slightly ominous knowing tone. A very 'we'll have to talk later one'.

Others take a more direct physical approach. Or just pull the armor apart. Less distructive, but it will take the spirits time to pull themselves back together. Literally. "That's one way to make piece with them." Of course the Nightmare has to get the witty remarks in.

Finally, they get to the door that the key actually works in, which opens into a rather spetacular display. A mobile of planet and moons decorating within an observatory. ".. Huh. That globe only has Yamato on it. Must be from before the other server was opened."

Of course that's when, once everyone is inside, the door slams shut and locks itself again. The mobile spins the life and seperates, each of the orbs being taken by a different elemental spirit. Earth, Fire and Light, all glowing with ghastly power as they whirl about the room, trying to bowl people over with their elemental forms.

"I've heard about making worlds collide, but this is getting a little rediculous." Kauchemar hmms softly as she raises her staff, ghostly vapors waifing from the heavy metal skull's eye sockets and jaw. Points it at the Light orb. "Can you feel the sound? Shaking unbound. Darkness all around." A bolt of black leaps from the staff to engulf the Light spirit, leaving it thrasing about in a spheroid with blacklight glows. "Nightmare Rave!"
Soujiro Seta
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"I thought I was flirting with your sister, young miss," Shouji offers to Fuka as they dismantle the armor together. He gets that nice radiant backlighting thanks to Wake. Sparkle sparkle. Yes, the haunted house is the cause! "Really good," he smiles to Kau at her hints at being the mastermind behind Wake's lovely voice.

The armor is all taken care of and Shouji decides to keep his red samurai armor on. If what the Guild said was true, they should be getting closer to the disturbance. Top of the tower. Boss. Very much game logic. The logic does not disappoint when there are 3 seperate spirits getting all fiesty. His blue eyes track the motion of the flame spirit as he steps in as calm and confident as if it was into a tavern. A hand rests on his sheathed katana. Timing. He waits for it to come to them. He sees it. There is the opening thread! First Form, Water Surface Slash. The blade comes out quickly in a blurr of blue light, imbued with the Water element as Shouji dashes through the fire and arrives on the other side like so many trope 'I will end this in one blow!' samurai and ninja action scenes. He doesn't look back. Never look back after explosions happen or you do cool katana slashes. Its practically a rule. Plus he has all that cool rave music and light around him from Kau's attack. A glorious boss battle!
Yeowang
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Yeowang faces the fire elemental with the element of water. Well, some practitioners of the technique she uses call it the Fist of Flowing Water, and it's a bit Tai Chi like, flowing smoothly as she avoids and steps aside from the fiery attacks, flowing around it, striking it from behind, then flowing away again, as if she had some preternatural awareness of where the fire elemental was and what it could do at all times. This seems to confound the fire elemental, which is a much more direct thing, and as she continues to flow around it, the party's damage is telling.
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Fuka grins at poor Wake's predicament and seems to find Soujiro's response hilarious. "No, my sister's shorter." she claims. Shorter than Wake at least. Not shorter than Fuka herself. Yeah she's having a good time here. Enough so that when they get locked in a room and the planets animate, she's disinclined to pull a Sephiroth on the solar system.

That's not to say she ignores her overly-large two-handed sword. No, Fuka actually draws the blade. Is this the moment when someone shouts FUKA NO!?

She doesn't swing the mighty blade however. Instead she uses the imbued enchantments to channel mana through the blade itself, setting the blade ablaze with lightning, and then using it to counter and weaken the earth elemental. "We're not going to be ground down here! Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightning!" she cries out, fencing with the spirit, seeming to be having quite a good time in doing so. It's her specialty after all!
Baroness Wake
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Soujiro and Kauchemar both talking about her has a way of focusing Wake. For the moment. Snapping out of it, and seeing everyone else looking great demands that she rise to the occasion in her own, unique way.

"Well, if you really like my voice that much," she says playfully. She steps forward, her attention centered on the earth enemy. She waits patiently, gathering herself for what is to come.

    "BE GONE!"

One wouldn't expect such a noise to come from her, perhaps. Her words tear forward in a sonic blast that pounds into the enemy in a most satisfactory fashion.

Setsuna
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

Setsuna looks at Kauchemar as the butterfly sign on his forehead vanishes, "Huh trick? Me? I don't subscribe to tricks." As he follows the group into the next room the door slams and he jumps a bit before laughing to himself, "I really miss automatic doors. I need to buy this house if its on the market. " Then the elementals appear and he tilts his head, for a moment before he grins at the light elemental and begins to jump around the shadows around it to dilute its light abilities. "The stronger the light, the stronger the shadow."
Kauchemar
Yamato - -30 - 11 - 0

"Not that I'm surprised," Kauchemar asides to Setsuna as they're both holding the Light back. Being able to talk directly to Monsters has it's perks for their kind. The Fire body rebounds off the icy shield, leaving it vulnerable to getting doused by the samurai and the shadowfist's Water techniques, while Wake blows the Earth one off-course and into Fuka's electrical strike. The strategic group use of elemental counters makes sharp and quick work of the elemental trio posessing the three mobile bodies.

They return to their dormant state within the mobile. The constant clapping of the doors beneath easing to a more reasonable speed for a haunted house. Taking the opportunity, the group takes turns gazing into the telescope and find that it is in fact not looking towards the stars, but towards Aincrad Tower. Except, topping at about half its height, is a beautiful crystalline-blue tower, glistening as it catches the sun from various sides. It seems this Relic is firmly set to only observe the Crystal Tower, lost many centuries ago to history itself.

When the party finally return downstairs, they are each thanked for their participation in freeing up the haunted house, and are given glowing baggies of Ectoplasm as thanks for their work.

"This... is actually a good treat AND a trick," Kauchemar muses, stowing the baggy in her inventory. That may be very useful in future endeavours. Then points a finger at Setsuna. 'We need to talk later'. Though she says it in no way anyone else would here, just between the two of them, Oracle to Oracle.
Yeowang

Yeowang looks through the telescope, sees something she's entirely unfamiliar with, and sighs at a game full of things she doesn't understand. "That's not the Tower," she knows what the Tower looks like. "What is it? Why are we seeing it? Is it like a slide in a projector?" This game requires so many assumptions, and she doesn't know any of them. It's frustrating.

Soujiro Seta takes a round at the telescope too. Very cool view. He gives Yeowang a pat on the shoulder with the sigh, "I don't understand it, either. Great technique back there. We should get some training in sometime." Normally there is someone else doing all the big connections like that so he does what he understands and training is something he understands. The path to his goal requires an attitude of constant improvement. The samurai makes his way back down the tower with the rest of the group to collect his 'reward'. A thankful bow to the giver of such a 'unique' prize.

Setsuna stesp up and peers into the telescope and looks at it marveling for a moment and then looks above the telescope to see the tower in the distant and then back. "Thats the tower..." Already he is about to call out on chims, he could have researchers here in hours for days of discovery. Then he considers it for a moment longer about what to do about that before he hears the voice of Kauchemar in his head and grins wbefore he just scoops some of the ectoplasm into a jar. "Well I got a few things out of this I didn't expect. Not as good as a dog, but close."
