Duty Session 490: Travel with Triffids

The Mage's Tower has put out a request through the Hunter's Guild. There is a rare monster migration, a rare subspecies of ambulatory water dwelling Triffids are traveling to their ancestral breeding grounds. These carnivorous plants have become very hard to gather given the Leviathans, their rare components are much in demand. Where they come ashore and where they're traveling to are both known, but the route they take wanders so there may be some trouble locating them in transit.

Difficulty:    Moderate
Rec. Party:    3+
Rewards:       2
World Rewards: Safer routes near Ninetails Dominion.

A quest? With plant monsters? How has Pela not done this yet? Has she really been that distracted? Probably. She had been pretty busy dealing with getting her business set up and going. And now? Now she had all the time in the world, and in a way that was ... almost more distressing than not having much time. And so? Well. Pela's been filling her time. Such as when she came out to join the party for this quest that she'd heard of gathering for!
And so Pela has arrived! Or, well, she's around them! ... As usual, she's blending in reflexively, dressed up in a pair of shorts and comfortable shirt that looks, vaguely, maid-like. As usual, she's wearing her fishnet-style stockings and soft sandals so that she can move quietly and quickly. Ninja meido has arrived.
Haru

The situation with the war has reached an uneasy lull. It will not always be this way and so Haru has carpe'd some diems with a Hunters Guild request. Have fun while you can and earn stray funds for the expensive arts of Accessory Forging and Enchanting. And so the white haired Artificer has made his way to the scene.

The scene happens to be at a beach where the Triffids were seen to come ashore. They are naturally aquatic creatures after all. There is a heavy perfume in the air, denoting the passage of the Triffids through the area.

"This is a nice view," the oh-so-srs Enchanter says as he hops up onto a rock on the beach. Both legs drape over the edge and he catches some of that nice sea breeze. "I should take up fishing sometime soon," he says. It'll be a whole plot arc on a lake. Suddenly Haru fishes. Or rather he hunts fish. Fishhunter Haru.
Yeowang

Yeowang has hunted this quarry before. But her handlers on her process review and improvement team have just about had it with the level of involvement and the depth of the scrutiny she's putting into things. So, they've washed her up, fed her, and sent her out to help Haru, and the duty he's selected will certainly benefit from a Hunter, if her head can be brought into the game. Currently she's contemplating the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle on some of the warehouse processes, on the check stage, that is, and determining if the improvement resulted in a net saving of time and effort. So, she shows up, looking distracted, and stands around not saying much.
Fukaziroh

Who's afraid of carnivorous plants? Not Fuka, that's who! The Hunter's Guild needs a hero, and the little Sylph is big enough for the job! Or so she'll claim anyways if anyone asks.

She sniffs at the air. "Okay, now I'm getting hungry." Fuka comments. "Oh hey guys! Are we vegetarians today? We're hunting plaaaaaaants!" she grins. "This should be fun, if probably a little boring... at least we have good company!"
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

It seems that there's a rather nervous Tanuki added to the mix of gathering adventurers. Her ears are slightly drooped and her tail is hanging just above the ground. Himari Saito is also looking rather pale as well. It's possible that she might be filling a promise as she makes her way to the gathering point.

She's pressed rather plainly, even though she has a leaf on her head. With Haru talking about fish, her stomach rumbles and she gives a groan after remembering that she skipped her last meal.
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Starting at the water's edge and moving into the treeline are many twisted writhing marks from motile Triffid roots. Once into the foliage they become much harder to track. It will take some true skill to follow the path of mobile plants through a forest. Perhaps keen animal sensese or a deep understanding of plants will help.

"Fish are great. You can fry 'em. Bread em. Steam 'em," and yes, Haru continues the Bubba gump skit for a while before the scene comes back to him. "Here, I keep cookies on me for the guildies in Weird Moods that /forget to eat/," he directs that one towards Yeo, knowing that it will probably come off as static noise. The cookies, however, directed to Himari's hand. "No idea when we will get to snack next and it sounds like your tum demands a sacrifice." The Artificer hops off of his happy, peaceful seaside rock.

"Everything is a little boring to you, Fuka," Haru gives the Sylph an elbow which requires him to duck walk over to her to do it. "Its Earth. Time to make it boreing." Just for the fun of it, he keeps the duck walk up to Yeo. A squint from his blue eye not behind the monocle. His noodly arms give a fist full of cookies to her, duck walking back to the party. "How do you do it, Fuka? Being this low to the ground is a real trip." He decides that duck walking is the way to go as he looks for tracks and herbs. "It does help look for tracks, though. I can practically taste the ground from down here." Duck walking continues.
Yeowang
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Yeowang watches Haru duckwalking with a puzzled expression. Also, Yeowang has acquired .... Cookies. Send to inventory. Tracks. She finds tracksm right. Well, no, she doesn't. It's a game thing she's -supposed- to be able to do, but it's not a skill she has in RL, and so the ways and means of using the skill are not something she can do easily in her distracted state. She winds up following her own tracks in a circle until she realizes, then tracks Haru until she catches up to him. "You've found it, then?" she asks him.
Pela Clarpuff
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Pela is an expert on plants, herbs, and plant creatures! She very quickly was able to start following the path and discern the difference between the triffids and the underbrush! What Pela is not an expert on? Or good at? Communication with people she hasn't seen much before, even if she's heard them over the chimlinks. "...They... that way..." She mumbles under her breath, pointing. Then again, if she's been hiding properly... she might have just. Never been seen and just ended up at the back of the party. Whoops. Ninja nining too hard. And once the others go in a different direction, she decides to follow. For their safety.
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

With cookies being offered to her, Himari gives a surprised queak. She takes the cookies, and eager starts to nibble one. "Thank you, Haru," she offers sheepishly. She's too busy making up for her missed meal to notice anything, and she remains close to the group. She pauses for a moment, before finding a pretty stone. She stops for a moment, then shoves one cookie into her mouth and picks up the shiny stone. She quickly decides she doesn't want it, as she continues to move with the group.
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Fuka peers at Haru, who is being rather ridiculous. Never change indeed. "It's natural for me. Like being gorgeous and brilliant!" she claims, ignoring the barb at her size. "We can't all be tall and boreing, I guess!" she says loftily. Okay, maybe she isn't ignoring the slight entirely.

She is, however, rather baffled when it comes to following the tracks of plants. There are, after all, no footprints. She's also not particularly given to enhanced senses, and the various natural gifts of the sylvan race don't seem particularly helpful here. She follows along as best she can, occasionally pointing out some small detail... but anything could've made those marks. The foliage is just too dense for her to make a meaningful difference.
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

"Welcome, Himari," the blue eyed Artificer says with a smile. Likewise to Fuka he shakes a fist in mock defiance, "You forgot incredibly smart and charming. Comes with the extra altitude." Never change indeed.

The narrator of this story was not kidding when they said that the tracks were hard to find. The party is looking for little plants in a forest of, you guessed it, more plants. Pela is excluded from this as someone who knows plants very well. Everyone else is looking for a grain of rice in a pot of rice.

"I have," Haru says confidentally to Yeowang, "but first, lets see some cookie monching." He will not be fooled! By the time the whole 'to cookie or not to cookie' is resolved, Haru has lost the tracks that he 'absolutely found'. During the exchange he missed the one helpful tidbit from Pela during the duck-walk tracking and cookie catastrophe with Yeo.

The party approaches a clearing they think should contain the hunted Triffids. Instead they find themselves ambushed by the Triffids natural predator. A big. Giant. Gnashing. Bun bun! This huge dire beast is clas in hexagonal plates of what seems to be basalt. A crown of jagged stone rests between the bun bun's long ears. Giant stomping rampage of bun might be held back enough to get in a good shot, or someone who understands the way of armor can find a chink in the plating this beast has. When in doubt giant stone clad beasts might find themselves vulnerable to attacks that focus on stone.

"Ok," Haru points out, no longer duck walking, "polling the party. Is it bad that I /do/ want to pet that thing." Thump thump thump. And it is getting closer. Closer to be pet, of course. The tall human taps the ground with his foot, causing the ground to rumble. The four stones that orbit around him become the texture and color of a maple tree. The forest itself comes alive with vines to lash out and bind the dire beast.

Possibly the first time that Pela has been more properly interacting, she is now up towards Haru's side, commenting softly, "...Not bad. Though don't. Dangerous." Pela comments softly, "...Even if it looks kind of stony-cute." Pela nods, before lifting her hand up, drawing on the power of her (meager) earth magic to launch an assault on those basalt plates to attempt to create a weak point for others! Unfortunately, however, her earth magic is not really strong enough to actually pierce the rampaging bun's hide and stop it from attacking! Soon she is instead skittering out of its way instead! Afterwards, she coments towards Fukajiroh, "...Small and cute is fine too."
Yeowang
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Yeowang has been fed by her handlers, and does not have the hungry or unwashed debuffs. So she will ignore the urging to eat more. She's not hungry and she's doing important things just at the moment, thank you very much. These important things involve fighting a guant bunbun with stone armor. But she knows a thing or two about stone, and in this game, she can strike hard enough to crack a stone plate. Aided by Earth magic, but she doesn't understand that part. Only that she struck it, it smashed, and her subsequent strikes did HP damage as per normal. Why is this complicated?
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Himari Saito happily continues to chew on the cookies that she has, while still remaining close to the group. She's not much help, as she's getting distracted easily, too. Once she's finished with the cookies, she picks up the bottle gourd that hangs from her belt and takes a drink as they enter the clearing.

She blinks several times as the large bun bun comes into sight.

She looks nervous and almost terrified as the giant creature gets closer. She tries her best to help out, trying to use her magic, though her attempts miss.
Fukaziroh
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

"Why thank you, H!" Fuka beams. "I *am* incredibly smart and charming!" she agrees playfully. "And modest! I aspire to the utter heights of modesty. Right everyone?" she asks around, more trying to get people shaking their heads than to actually agree.

A time later, they are confronted by a monster bun bun. "I kind of prefer them more fuzzy." Fuka notes. "I mean sure, it's cute, but IT'S GONNA SQUASH US!" she cries out, whipping out her sword. She goes to town on the bunking, but her blows are ineffective, turned aside by the stone plating. "We're gonna need Terra for this I think!" she cries out, not enjoying being stomped by something that has to weigh several tons. "And yes, small and cute is better than HUGE AND CUTE!" she fervently agrees.
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Haru and Yeowang's combined Earth efforts let that big bun know whats up! It is not enough to push back assault as the ambush continues. It does a healthy chunk of damage to the party members in retaliation for their crimes against existing and being delicious snacks to hits dire maw.

Although damaged by the attack, Haru /does/ in fact get to pet the dire bun bun. All it costs him is a huge gashing damage line on his arm. "Pela," he says as he kicks back a health potion, "you were right. That /was/ dangerous. Also, worth it. Its fur is soooo soft." Though there is an 'aww' with the sweet comment from Pela towards Fuka. Just in time for the 'please stay in the back, you wear cloth armor' Wave Artes user to be kicked by a bunny foot and thrown into the back ranks. Also into a tree. "Terra is on vacation, Fuka. She got tickets to a Rock and Roll concert and won't be able to join us."

As the party survives the ambush of the stone clad King Bun, it begins a process of charging the party. It rurns. It charges again. Rinse. Wash. Repeat. This bunny is on a rampage! Evading these charges, falling back to take ranged attacks, or using some hunting knowledge to set traps are all viable ways to keep this beast from being such a pain train.

"Look, sir Bunnalicious, you are at an eight and I need you at a six," Haru tells the giant bunny, waving his hand as small crystals appear around him. They are shiny and bright, creating silvery lines between them. When the lines form completely the pane inbetween looks like distored light. His party inspect would show an evasion buff while the stained glass shell is in effect, something in dire need for dealing with a dire bun.

"...Huge and cute is also good, but I more meant you." Pela responds to Fukaziroh, giving the smallest of giggles as she recovers from the skitter to (mostly) get out of the way of the attacking bunbun. Lucky for that damage buffer that reduces that damage significantly, really. And then she notices something. Someone seems to be acting very much like a newbie. Someone who is not used to combat much. And who was now in the path of the giant creature.

Pela quickly makes a decision. Himari appears to need protecting. Rather suddenly, there was a bolt of lightning flying towards Himari as well as the charging bun bun king. Not in the form of an attack, no, instead, it's a Pela that is moving at extreme speeds to attempt to tackle Himari out of the way of the charge, roll with her, and then if she manages to keep hold of Himari, hop up while still using her momentum to pull Himari with her, setting her on her feet.
And then proceeding to pull out a small feather duster and dust Himari off. "There. Much better. ...Quiet Maidens should not be trampled underheel."
Yeowang
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Yeowang watches calmly as the bun charges through the party, and her first inclination is to just get clear. But no, this is a threat, and one she can deal with as a hunter. It's not a common thing, but she's got tools for just this sort of situation. So, when it charges her, it's got to charge over caltrops, or through stakes planted, or other tricks and traps. Not part of her MMA skillset, they're skills she's had to work on in game. And they do work. If not always. But they cost the bun dearly as it's coming way too fast to avoid the hazards.
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Himari Saito freezes up at first, unable to move at first and completely frozen in place as danger gets ever closer. Much like a deer caught in the headlights of a rapidly approching truck as the lightning bore down on her.

She tenses up, expecting to be hit, only to find herself carried to safety by Pela. It shakes out of her state long enough for her to unleash a blast of dark magic at the Bun Bun King as she's being rapidly moved to safety.

She trembles when as she's put back onto her feet, and gives a sniffle as her bottom lip trembles as she looks to the Cat that just saved her. "T-Thank you Maid-chan."
Fukaziroh

Fuka charges on in, recognizing the relative frailty of her companions. Two melee DPS attackers, two cloth-wearers... and herself. Sure, Yeowang and Pela are both considerably faster than Fuka, but they're not exactly armoured! It's up to Fuka to protect....

OOF. Fuka takes a bruising hit, which fortunately doesn't quite crush her. Her armour does protect her, but she's coming to regret being tanky. It's probably a lot less painful to dodge, right?

Still, she's tough. "Naisu, Pela!" she cries out encouragingly, once she's got her breath back. She continues chipping away at the bun bun king's health, thinking it'll probably die before she does. Proooobably....
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Who is an evasion tank? Haru is an evasion tank today it seems. After the beast gets past the mighty battle fae (Fuka), its up to Haru to take the next hit. "Olay!" the white haired Artificer says, waving a cape to one side as he dodges the big bun. Right into the caltrops that Yeowang laid down. However it redirects the charging bun's course right towards Himari after losing control of its charge. Himari's dark bolt blasts a large red damage circle into the King Bun and both tanuki and catte collectively dodge before the beast hits a tree. A good stunned moment for everyone to get damage in on it like a Dark Souls boss that just opened itself up to some attacks.

As the party finally gets the Bun King down below half health, a small white streak bounds from the woods. A /small/ white bunbun bursts from the trees. So there, Pela and Fuka, the cuteness has provided a non-big'n version! It zips quickly past the party, wanting none of its shenanigans, and boops the Bun King on the snoot. A burst of light magic causese its HP bar to rebound, then bounces out of sight. This happens each time the HP bar drops below half. The party will need to manage to take out the fast little healing bun, do enough damage to start the next stage of the battle, or apply a good poison that can keep pace with the heals.

"Awwww," Haru says as more adorable things keep coming out of the forest, "awww... you little gremlin!" No, not Fuka. He turns and shakes his head to the Sylph to get ahead of the response. He runs a finger along the silver rim of his purple monocle, "You leave me no choice, buns." The human swipes his inventory, taking out a potion and tosses it at the big bunny. Poison, right? Doom? Maybe it was just water to dampen the bun's spirits?
Pela Clarpuff
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Dust dust, dust dust. Even as Pela's being thanked for saving her, Pela seems almost more preoccupied in making sure that Himari is properly dust-free after the roll in the dirt. "...You're welcome." Pela finally says, before turning back towards the battle. Just in time to watch a small white bun dart in and boop the boss. A small frown crosses Pela's lips as she sees this. And she draws her blades, a purple energy starting to envelop the twin daggers as a Spell Battery is activated in the hilt of the blade. As the purple energy fades, poison begins to drip from her daggers.
After all, being a Twin Blade and Enchantress, Pela is one of the most dangerous status effect classes in the game: The Slayer. Pela leans down, her feet beginning to glow as she activates a simple quick-movement sword arte, her daggers glowing at the same time as she moves her body lower, lower, lower. "...Nyaaaaa...!" Wait did she just nyaa as her exhale as she charges towards the bun bun?! ... Yes. Yes she did. She never tried to pretend she wasn't a catgirl or anything. Soon, she was quickly spinning towards the giant bun, bringing those two poisoned blades up and cutting the giant bun in an X pattern as she dashes past, dust trailing in her wake as she flips her blades and re-sheathes them, not even looking back yet. Shink. Wait they're supposed to fall over dead after you do that. Why isn't it falling over dead? Pela's little tail fluffs up as she turns to look back at the bun bun. Was that a little bit of frustration on her face? Time to try one last thing. A reference. "...You're already dead." Pause. Silence. Nope, nothing. No sudden explosions. Dammit.
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

With her sniffling and being close to crying, it makes it hard for Himari to concentrate. She remains at the back of the group, trying to stay safe and away from danger. Her hands shake, and her ears are drooping now. She watches as the catgirl runs back into the frey.

While she might want to run, and is close to panicking she takes a deep breath and rubs her nose against her sleeve with another sniffle. She takes a few moments to try and focus on the bunbun, but instead startles at the sound of rustling in a nearby bush and ends up attacking the bush instead.

Fukaziroh
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Fuka isn't really in a mood to put up with bunny crap. They're cute and all, but she prefers appreciating cuteness with a full health bar! At least at the start of the whole process. Her health bar is rather depleted, which makes it extra annoying when a small healbun rockets out and starts undoing all their hard work!

"Aw HELL no!" Fuka cries out, shaking her head. "If I can't have an adorable little bun bun pocket healer, HE CAN'T EITHER!" she growls, pulling back to begin a chant. A complex one, and one that goes on several syllables. Those familiar with the runewords she uses might recognize earth, fire, and distance. Those who aren't... well, they'll see the outcome as Fuka lifts stone from the earth and makes it form into a cylinder brimming with hellish flames. She directs the resulting cannon, pointing at the tiny bunny, and opening fire. The cannon operates like a shotgun, shredding a good section of forest as well as her target. "HEAL THAT, beyotch!" the sylph roars triumphantly.
Yeowang
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Yeowang must be in some kind of strange altered state, because she's not generally much use with the bow she carries as a hunter, but she's currently a deadeye and bullseyeing every healing bun she draws down on. Too fast for her to melee, she manages to lead them correctly and take them out before they can heal the main monster. It's hard to see how she does it, she doesn't appear to be concentrating, per se, but rather in some sort of zen-like state, simply pulling back, intuiting where her target will be, and letting fly at just the right moment. Not complaining, it works. It'd be nice if she could do that on demand, but it's almost certainly a function of her altered state.
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

No sudden explosions, but the King Bun was not expecting the poisoned blades to come out like that. Red damage lines loom over where the blade crossed and a chunk of the earthen armor falls off. Likewise the healer bun was not expecting to be roasted by Fuka's canon of wrath or the sharpshooting arrows from Yeowang. The white bun s charred black with two eyes blinking in disbelief, several arrows sticking in it before they are blown away like ash. It rigidly falls over, shattering like glass in the way monsters die with little pixels drifting away. What about Haru's thrown potion? UNKNOWN! It did put a status effect on the beast that says 'GRD Down' and 'Burning', but there are no flames. Never doubt an Enchanter has debuff mastery somewhere in their arsenal. The startled sound by Himari causes that bush to take critical damage, but alas, it has a lot of durability.

The king enters its final stage once the party has either killed the white bun healing the King or dropped the King below one quarter HP. The plates drop away from the bun. They fall to the ground with heavy thuds. The great grey bun bun enters a rage moving even faster than he did before. The crown of stone atop its head glows with elemental power. This last bit of the fight is hard. Damage from the King during the rage is heavy and its speed is great. However his armor drops greatly and the healer is now gone. Time to finish this fight.

Taking stock of that bunny crown, Haru takes a step back. He looks over his shoulder to notice how rough the encounter has been on Himari. "Hey, we'll get through this. We are a strong party. And that bunny isn't the only one that can summon elemental crowns of superbuffing." He stays in the back with her, as he is also a squishy caster. The Wave Arte he uses is not something Haru has shown, well, anyone yet. He holds his hands outwards as the four small orbs that orbit around him come inbetween his hands. The enchanter begins to chant in an elaborate, old tongue that seems to echo in the hearts of those that hear it, "Was. Ki. Ra. Chs. Arhou. Merra." With the final word said, the orbs have spun so fast in a circle that they created a crown that holds each of the four base elements in them, glittering from the passionate red to the grounded earth. The inventive Air and the emotional Water. He slowly places the halo on his head and a strong, defensive party buff pulses out.
Pela Clarpuff

It didn't go down. But it did lose a significant portion of its enemy. And then it started to dash around, zipping around at high speeds. Pela quickly pops out a couple of spheres from her daggers, slipping a different pair of spheres into the blades as she draws them again, the act of drawing them seeming to spark a spell into existence, lining the blades with electrical energy. Possibly not the best of elemental choices.
Regardless, Pela was starting to dash once more, making a few quick calculations in her head to sip in to meet the bun king right in one of his movements from the side, her blades sparking with electricity as she quickly strikes at one of the Bun King's legs! ... And... gets a glancing blow. No major damage as the daggers strike a stony part which deflects the electrical paralysis debuff.
A soft 'tch' escapes Pela's lips, but she gets right back into the fight, turning to continue her attack, moving quickly along with the bun king, clashing in several places, Pela doing very little other than chip damage and activating occasional tanking skills to draw the bun's attention with her strikes so that the others can do their own strikes more effectively. Still, Pela's HP is definitely dropping quickly now, so it's time to finish this!
Yeowang
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

Yeowang drops her bow as the fight enters the last stage, the DPS check. The goal is to do enough DPS to put it down before it can put us down. Yeowang is all about that challenge, and will step up, throwing combos, left-right-left, each doing significant damage even though it's ready for the attack, but then she shifts the pattern, right-right-right, not even pulling the punch back, simply drilling it full strength /from/ full extension, somehow packing the full power of the punch in barely an inch of movement, knocking it back a couple steps, then punching again with the extended arm when the bunbun wants to block her other arm. Upsetting it's defensive pattern is the main 'trick' here, but getting a full swing worth of power out of one inch of movement takes leg and core stength, too. Luckily, she's got all that, and then some. She takes her share of hits in this process, but nothing like the damage she's dishing out.
Himari Saito
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

That bush Himari attacked won't be any more danger to her. Even though it wasn't a danger to her in the first place. She sniffles again, and wipes her nose against her sleeve again. She looks over towards Haru, frowning at him as he speaks while her bottom lip keeps on quivering.

She takes a trembling breath, and closes her eyes for a moment. She takes several steps forward, deliberately into the path of the bun bun before pushing her hands out in front of her.

Flame covers her body for a moment, before making a wall in front of her for the King Bun to be hit by. She's knocked heavily to the side in the process, but at least she got a hit in.

The little sylph cheers savagely as she and Yeowang murder the healer first. Yeah, that's proper MMO tactics! At the same time the others damage the bossbun more, depleting its health until it shifts form, dropping its basalt armour. "Oh hey!" Fuka cries out. "NOW it's fuzzy! It's much smaller and cuter now!" she claims, agreeing with no one in particular.

It's also faster, much faster, but Fuka doesn't care. With the huge decrease in its mass, she can much more easily tank the great beast. Fuka sets herself then lets out a howl guaranteed to gain aggro. "COME TO ME LITTLE BUN BUN FOR ALL THE PETTINGS!" she yells. Of course the skill she activates is probably what actually brings the boss to her, since it'll take damage should it actually attack anyone other than her. It's okay, she can take it! For a few moments at least...
Haru
Yamato - -19 - 11 - 0

The Crown that Haru buffs the party with pulses, creating a barrier of defense as the raging bunny crashes into it. It mitigates the King's own buff at a near trade, but even without the buff he deals a healthy chunk of damage. It is rampaging with sweeping attacks that are hard to avoid. It is all over the place like Fuka just told a puppy that it gets to go outside and play catch. Feet hopping everywhere. Teeth gnashing everywhere. It is chaos centered around Fuka's defensive position. It is that self-same rapid movement that makes it hard for Pela to get that /deep/ strike that she wanted. What is left is far more than just a cat scratch, but the helpful paralysis debuff doesn't stick. Yeowang piston punching takes the steam out of the raging bunny's charge. It keeps the boss on the defensive until it does a proper chittering rage scream and uses its whole body to bash forwards through the party. Yeowang is hit first, followed by Fuka and Pela. Each time the Anchor howl procs to punish the bunny for not focusing on Fuka while the duration is up. Knowing this, Haru steps ahead of Himari to get yeeted back like a ragdoll too and proc another Anchor howl. It isn't enough to finish it. The final stop on this destination is Himari, who bursts back fire at the boss during the strike that comingles with Fuka's retribution strike. The party is well injured from the last attack.

The King Bun stands there a moment, breathing as heavy as the party would be after such a prolonged fight.

Finally the weight of the rage and its injuries claim it. The Bunny King falls. It is finally over. A back leg twitches as it lays there. White light surrounds it and a crackling of ice covers its body before it bursts into the big 'you killed a boss' animation. The party is able to gather up some of the stone plates that were dropped from the beast. This wasn't what the party came for, but it is something.

Haru isn't about to look a gift bun in the mouth, but he will grab the loot later. He gets to his feet and makes sure the new guildie is alright. "How ya feeling there, Himari," he asks, rubbing his bruised noodly arm with one hand before offering her a health potion. "It looks like you got the final blow in," he says. Or Fuka, he isn't sure. "Good job."

Himari Saito gives a little cry as she remains on the ground. She doesn't know who got the last blow in, as she was too busy panicking. She gingerly rolls onto her stomach, and shakes her head when offered the health potion. "Thank you, Haru-san, but keep it for later. I can do healing," she admits. "Once I get off the ground. And I can walk. And everything stops hurting. I'll try to heal everyone."

Slowly she pushes herself up onto her knees, closes her eyes an holds her ribs. "I should have just stayed cleaning memorials. It's safer." She gives another sniffle, and then considers the other members of the party and smiles sheepishly as she looks between fukaziroh, Yeowang and Pela. "Everyone is alive, right?"
Yeowang

Yeowang is down a good chunk of HP, but doesn't seem -too- bothered about it. She eyes the bun as it goes down, then turns away and pulls some notecards from inventory and seems to be comparing them, noting on them with a thin device like a pencil. Seems she's back to what she was doing before she came here. Yeowang is indeed alive, and her HP is creeping back up on its own, so she's probably cast a self-heal after the fight surreptitiously. She's not as outgoing as many of the NWA-ers.
Fukaziroh

Fuka's not unsympathetic to someone scared to adventure, though someone could be forgiven for assuming the brash and bombastic sylph only appreciates similarly enthusiastic adventurers. "We're fine, Mari." she claims. "Well, you know, bruised and chewed-on, but you should see the other guy!" she adds enthusiastically. "Healing's always welcome. You did good! A monster like that's a terror no matter how cuddly it gets. Just try not to let it get out of sight." she advises.

Then she turns to the others, finally opening her arms wide. "Come to me little Pela for all the pettings!" she boldly offers. Only to pause and look around. "Did she just vanish? Huh! Imagine that!" she smirks.
