One day in the Isekai Ryokan

Goldenblade
Dun Loireag - Isekai Ryokan

Goldenblade has had a pretty full morning, arranging supplies for various projects she's planning, and so when she pushes through the door this August afternoon, she bresthes a sigh and heads over to the counter and sits down, calling for beer and slumping a bit. She's wearing her mail coat and pants, and carrying her full gear, so if she's been wandering around in all that all day, it's small wonder she's tired. She stratches her back, arms over her head, and when her beer arrives, she takes a deep drink and lets out a long sigh.

Goldenblade is, on the other hand, quite gregarious, possibly due to her upbringing. "Hello," she smiles as she greets Naniko. Well, when someone sits next to you, you greet them. That's basic manners, for her. Also, zero social anxiety. She's not one of these effusive girls that have to talk with everyone at once, but she can hold a conversation normally. "How's it going?" More basic conversation, suitable for someone you meet at a restaurant counter.

Goldenblade nods sagely. "Not dying is good," she agrees. "I'm Goldenblade," she introduces herself, which saves the mouthful spilling out of the name box when she's inspected. "Nice to meet you. What brings you here?" she wonders, "I've been laying on supplies for some projects I'm trying to make happen. But things are a bit slow, now, with things going on. Haven't quite picked up to pre-war leevels yet. I wonder if the Landers are still nervous."

Goldenblade hrms? "Ah, yeah. Though the Palace Landers have squads of undines that fight underwater, I'm told. And they took your outpost in the Palace Lands and your place in Eastal and held it for a few months?" She means Shibuya, NWA's town. You would definitely have noticed that, if you hang out there at all. "But yeah, it's nice that they're gone. I think they were expecting more joy from the Landers at being liberated from us, the players, I mean, but in Yamato, we treat our Landers much better than the Palace Lander players apparently treated their Landers."

Goldenblade shrugs off that discussion, which she's heard several times from several people. "It was a game when I joined it," she replies simply. "And I haven't seen anything to convince me that it's not. Avoiding conflict in general is good, I suppose," she agrees. "But stopping bad people from doing bad things to others is important, too."

Goldenblade arches a brow at the tiny water thing. But she says, "There's a lot you can do that's low risk," she points out. "Even the duties where you have to fight. You don't always win your objectives, but in two and a half years here and with a lot of duties under my belt, I've never been killed in one. I don't solo, mind. That's -why- I don't solo. But as long as there's someone to pull your bacon off the fire in an emergency, you're pretty safe."

Goldenblade sips her beer while she's inspected, but not Inspected, and says, "I'm seventy seven, and the first time I picked up a sword was two and a half years ago. But I learned from an old gamer, you might have seen him around, Nyanta, and I learned how to do the blacksmithing, which like everything else, it turns out you have to do for real in addition to having the skill. But once I pulled my act together, I opened an academy, to teach players in your same place the basics of adventuring. If you come to the Carmina Gadelica Marina and ask for the Peko Ranch or the Crescent Academy, we're next door. Or to Uta's lab, if you know where that is. I'd be happy to teach you. That's me giving back as much as I can for the help I got in my own first weeks."

Naniko doesn't really react very strongly to the 77 comment, though she does ask, "Goodness, but whose memories do YOU have?" rather calmly. She does now, however. "I'd be happy for the assistance. I'm not exactly a noob, but I definitely haven't picked up the skills I need to do this new life well."

When asked whose memories she has, she says, "Just my own, thank you very much. Whose memories /should/ I have?" She gives Naniko a puzzled look, because for all that she might seem worldly, she's pretty much a noob in gaming in general. "You probably need to meet the Chief, Nyanta. He's been gaming forever, and can answer more of your questions, probably." She doesn't consider what him being a roleplayer here might bring to the conversation. She generally ignores it. "But as I say, I'm happy to teach what I know, both in skills and anything else. I'd hoped to make the Crescent Academy a bit more than it's turned out to be, but it's still suited to learning, if more physical than magical."

Naniko blushes just slightly, though exactly what Goldenblade said that set her off isn't clear. Awkwardly, she grabs for her silverware provided to her, but manages to knock it off of the bar. "Oops," she says. She clears her throat. "Sorry. Just let me..." Moving behind whatever it got flung past, she doesn't come back out from behind it. Erased! From existence!

Goldenblade huhs as Naniko goes to retrieve her silverware and seems not to come back. "Huh? You still there?" she calls out loudly. She's not particularly observant, but that was a quite skilled job of hiding. She will get up and look around, thumping on the floor in case there was like a trap door or something. "You OK!?" she calls again. But her lunch companion is nowhere to be found, and she will finally settle back into her seat at the counter and finish her late lunch.
