Angeling Throwdown

As part of Pela's training, she and some of her friends (one of whom is Wake, who is her divine artes instructor) are going to take a trip to the Palace Lands and do some hunting around the Tower of Babel. It should be exciting! While the local cuisine comes highly recommended, the Landers' tacky taste in headwear has eliminated a visit from the agenda. This trip is all about dealing with the rare spawn.

The Tower of Babel! A place that Pela has... honestly... tried to stay the heck away from, really. It's one thing to go into the tower in yamato, that basically had its own little world inside. This one? This one was in an even more hostile land with even more hostile monsters. And yet, there had been rumors spreading of a light based being nearby it, something that could be useful in her examination and learning of the power of light and healing and protection!

And so... along with a couple of her friends, Pela had carefully made her way to said tower, to areas where the Angeling had been spotted in the past. And honestly? She's done her best to make it into just a nice travel with her friends more than anything. Good food. Good company. Good hiding places while traveling because the monsters and landers here be skeery.

And so the day starts as it had the past couple of times: Pela made breakfast for everyone traveling along with her and the Baroness, meaning that... well... it was time to hunt! Hopefully they could find it today. Every day in the palace lands away from the various 'safe' areas made Pela more nervous. "...So from what I've heard, we're looking for a pink slime with little tiny adorable wings floating above it. ...It's not necessarily the most aggressive mob, but when threatened it summons three green slimes to help protect itself and can cast light-aligned artes." Pela murmurs quietly.
Baroness Wake

For her part, Elly has had to transform for this mission. The Right Clothes have churned out nothing but skin tight garb, colored to match the terrain. She has the role of scout and has proven that retired or not, she still has the mindset of an assassin. She tends to go on her missions alone. Just in case she has to do something she'd rather not let others see. Whether she has met any Landers or crowned is unclear. She's certainly not telling. But she has seen combat when stalking around their campsites on the way here, that much she cannot conceal.

Breakfast, though, is always nice. Being away from her wife is hard for the Baroness. She's also gotten very accustomed to her own bed and castle.

"It sounds adorable, really. It should be just the thing to give you the kind of light dose that best helps one get a feel for the element. It's a tricky thing, light. It seems to be everywhere, but in so being, it becomes that much harder to fully appreciate."

Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"The perfect addition to my collection!", Uta repeats, possibly for the umpteenth time. She is dressed in the gi/nurse's unform Wake gave her as a present. Her eyes are twinkling, as expected; she has steamrolled into full slime geek rambling mode. "Halo. Wings. It'd be the perfect logo for advertising my adventuring and healing services," she rambles on, as she keeps walking, staff firmly clutched in her hand. "Now, -adorable-..." She inhales. Short pause. "I am afraid I really can't pull off adorable. But I hope people won't look too closely and I'll get a pass."

"Ah, the Babel Tower.. home of the Babylon Signal, I seem to remember... the system that ensures language translation. The one where Ovan pulled some strange shenanigans on April, 11, of 400 After The Princess Wars. You know, that time when our language system got briefly interrupted, and we couldn't understand people speaking a different language, including the Landers," Uta reminisces, having switched into full Lore geek mode.
Fukaziroh
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

An adventure with some of Fuka's favourite people, more than the lure of light magic and cute monsters, was the draw for the diminutive sylph. She's willing to help hunt down the target. If nothing else, she has the searching skills and ranged attacks to be... kind of a hunter. She's just not very sneaky, making up for this with enthusiasm. That and being appreciative that with Pela along, she's not required to survive based on backpack rations. A thing she's truly appreciative of, of course!

Fortunately some of Fuka's choices actually seem to have a point. Her coat, for example, is a dark green with brown highlights. In a forest, it's actually reasonably sneaky. In darkness too; more sneaky than black would be, because it isn't a void against the background. She's mostly covered her metals, so while she's not exactly stealthy, she's not quite anti-stealth either.

Breakfast is nice indeed. Food is the best part of these hunts, aside from the company of course. She grins playfully. "I do see a problem though!" she announces, and pauses for dramatic effect. "This cute little slime, who's going to attack it to summon these green guardians?" she asks. Then she looks over at Uta. "You're pretty adorable." she smirks. "But we're talking about the slime! And catching it and making it feel defensive! So enough of me making you defensive! Songbird, when we see the slime, YOU HAVE TO HUG IT! Then we can capture it properly. Or at least, then we can deal with its defenders, once it's properly responded to your capture attempt. Soulds good?"

There was no hiding from Pela. She is ninja and she was always watching for stuff going on around her campsite. Such are the habits of a solo player. "...Yes, definitely adorable. ...Honestly the fact it summons its own party probably helps, too."
Perfect logo for Uta too? Hm, interesting! "...I think you'll be fine, Uta. Adorable isn't that hard." Pela falls silent, listening to Uta as she walks. Hmm. Ovan and the babylon signal. She'd nearly forgotten about that nonsense...
"I will attack it to summon its guardians." Pela responds simply to Fuka. "I am the tank, after all." It's an easily forgotten fact, since Pela usually leans into a DPS role, but her class combo gives her a jack of all trades role.
A fact she doesn't hesitate on as they approach the area the Angeling is supposed to spawn. She draws her wakizashi and darts in quietly at first sign of pink porings, and... leaps at it. ...With maid headband? Yep. She's turning it into an angel maid.
Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

Haru is around on business with the Palace Lands. Something about a greedy man in Kallamore. He shows up much later in the day around the time Uta is being called adorable. "Sorry for being late." He takes the instructions for the encounter and will catch up on the social aspect later.
Baroness Wake
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"No problem at all, things are just starting to get going."

And in short order, they do. Now, Elly is not here to fight. Nocturnal matters aside. Defense is an exception! Details be damned, but as a diplomat, she can make any agreement dance on the literal and figurative when the situation demands it.

That aside, her role in this battle is to heal. To focus light artes so that Pela can develop her own attunement to their power. So she will be burning mana on two things. To keep the angeling alive when needed and to keep everyone else topped off.
Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

Haru is quick on the uptake as he provides support in the form of accuracy debuffs upon the little slimes. He sticks to the back of the fight, aiming to make it harder for the enemy and picking off weak or distant foes with ranged arcane magic.
Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"THEY HAVE HATS!"

Yes, this is Uta's battlecry when- wait, is it a battlecry? It's definitely what Uta screams. "Ok, so... we frist dispatch the green ones and then we can take the angeling, right?"

Uta, who normally takes the support/healer role, now has her secondary role as designated DPS come to the forefront, lowers her staff, frowns at the opponents, inhales-

...inhales...

"...I Can't do it!", she whimpers. "They're too adorable!"
Pela Clarpuff
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"...It's okay!" Pela comments towards Haru. "...The encounter is just beginning!" Pela says. Because, of course. It was now a Maid Angeling. And the forcible hatting of the Angling was just enough of an impact to trigger its defensive abilities, it immediately casting a small shield wall over itself, and summoning three green slimes that appear to immediately knock Pela back!

The three po-poring are all there, each now wearing their own hats. If this is due to Pela's actions or not, hard to tell. One has a little viking helmet on its head, a second one has a dapper tophat atop its slimy head, and the last one is wearing a big floppy wizard had. In spite of this fact, the three poporing seem to be behaving like normal slimes, bouncing towards Pela to continue their retaliation!

Luckily, in spite of taking a couple of hits, Pela is turning away the attacks with relative grace, the occasional appearance of a moonlit shield appearing around Pela as she diverts the blunt attacks from herself. Any time the slimes try to get away from her, she's unleashing her main tank skill as well: Vortex Draw, pulling the poporing back to her and following it up immediately with a Back Stab whenever they try to turn attention away from her. She's taking her job as a tank seriously!
Meanwhile, as Haru supports her from a distance, and Uta's cry of '...I can't do it! They're too adorable!' Rings out. Pela just... giggles. "It's okay! ...We're not here to kill them! ...Just observe the power of light!"
Speaing of, as those poporings are damaged, the angling was supporting them quite well, throwing holy attack spells at Pela, and casting healing spells on the damaged poporings each time Pela counterattacks them when they try to get away from her to attack her own support.
Baroness Wake
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

While the fight goes on, Elly is largely quiet. She might not even be officially in the combat yet. She could be doing her nails. But once there's enough damage, she steps forward and lets her power go.

She drops an incredibly powerful heal on Pela, timing it to land at the very moment a holy spell does. Hopefully nobody is looking right at her. Who knows what kind of retinal damage that might do?

"You know, they are quite cute. A pity these monsters are so unruly! Still, variety is the key to the Slime Garden of the future, right?"

Cause when slimes are involved, Uta's gotta catch 'em all (tm).

Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"Excellent," Haru replies back to Pela as an arcane bolt fires from one of the four floating stones around him, "I would hate to miss out on an adventure with some of my favorite people in all of Elder Tales." Dakka dakka debuff.

To Uta he gives a short laugh, "Think of them as stress balls. They are helping you relieve some stress through exercise. The hats are a sign of their commitment. Hats are very important, after all." No, they are going to murder-not-murder most of these slimes. He dakkas another slime. "Variety is the slime of life," Haru says in a spicy tone.

The key to a good capture is to reduce their attack, speed, and accuracy down so low that they are easy to capture. Haru is all over that with his legendary enchanter abilities! Plus Pela enchants, so all the enchantment going on right now.
Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"Oh, uh, right. I-" She frowns as she lowers her staff again, ready for a magic blast at a distance. "-I must fulfil the mission for which I came here. Which is -studying- the Angeling." At Haru, "...Or kill them, if necessary, of course." A somber look towards the floor. "You can't break some eggs without crying over spilled toast that fell on the butter side." And finally, after some thiking, at Pela, "...you know what? The one with the maid band would actually be an even better logo for -you-."

"Ok, party!", she reprises, tightening her grip and lifting her weapon again. The anatomically-correct-heart-shaped gem gives off a glint. "We are here to- wait." She squints at what must be her interface. "Why am I not partied with you guys? I- Oh, RIGHT!" She facepalms. "I'm supposed to try and -capture- the Angeling! If I'm not partied and keep far enough, I'm technically neither -aggressing- nor -being aggressed by- it! So I can pull some Monster Shenanigans!" She navigates through her menu and activates a connection.

"Flanfiction Writer to Red Panda One. Flanfiction Writer to Red Panda One," Uta calls, one finger to her pointy ear. Who made up those callsigns is anyone's guess. "Do you copy me, Red Panda One."
Pela Clarpuff
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

Pop! Healing drops on Pela, restoring her health bar as it drops slowly. She continues the rotation of defense, draw, stab. Defense, draw, stab. Controlling her DPS so that none of the poporings go down too quickly, allowing the Angeling to continue its role without huge amounts of issue, and allowing Pela to do her quiet observation of the Angeling's casting. "...It's fine. ...Not trying to kill them." Pela responds quietly. "...Though the poporings are just summons, not real monsters anyway, I think." Can you even capture a summon? Hm.

'I would hate to miss out on an adventure with some of my favorite people.' Pela pauses. Falters. Stammers out something awkwardly as she hears that from Haru, and messes up on one of her defenses, ended up rolling off to the side for a moment and landing on her back. "Uwah don't say stuff like that at your tank out of nowhere!!!!!" Pela calls out, rolling back up to her feet and dashing back into the combat. Huff! Her DPS is, quite suddenly, much less well controlled.

Uta, meanwhile, gets just. A quiet Look from Pela. Who stops for a second. She was focused on defense still, but definitely just going... "...What?" Pause. "...I just put that on it because I thought it would be cute. ...It's probably going to just eat it pretty quickly here."
Monster Shenanigans! Pela listens to Uta, continuing her defensive combat as she begins talking ... about... Flanfiction Writer and Red Panda One. ...What? "...What?" Pela, once again, ends up being bumped hard by one of the poporing and rolling away again. Good thing she has a good healer, because her party is /very distracting/ apparently.

Uta gets a really fast response from Asuna.

    "That's a big 10-4, Flanfiction Writer! What's your 20?"

Cause of course Asuna is using CB slang. She meets a lot of weird fans, you know? And for the uninitiated, she's asking for Uta's location.

Ignorant of that conversation, Elly is focused on healing. Well, mostly. This isn't really hard to heal through. "Really, now that you mention it, this is a really wonderful group. Like a family outing with a dear friend brought along!" She's happily pondering this now.

Meanwhile, Asuna has more to say, "Are you about ready to lay things down, Flanfiction? The trap should be good to go, but if it's damaged I'm sure a bit of Alabama chrome will do the trick!" By which she means duct tape. Obviously. Which doesn't really exist. Obviously.

Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

Haru noirs, "Its a slime eat slime world. Uta came to study an Angeling. Noble goals. Would the goal be permitted in a sea of bouncing, hatted chaos. A visceral melee of viscosity to victory." Pew pew. Haru is keeping it easy on the damage as waves of little black clouds go over the slime's heads. It helps make them bounce around aimlessly without the senses to consume. "A summon like no other. A monster with no mother, brother, or another. They need a home. Who will answer that call?" Clearly its Red Panda One.

"Looking good out there Pela," pew pews Haru, "One might say you are really... cleaning up." No? "Serving them their just desserts." No? He otherwise agrees with Elly. "Yes, a big family outing and fun festivus for the restofus."
Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"No slime garden is complete without some exotic specimens. Plus, let us face it, these are perfect for your dedication to the Beautiful One."

"You're leaving them in the dust?", Uta offers, helfully, to Pela. "They'll learn to not mess with you, and mend their own business? Is victory being handed to you on a silver plateter?"

With a glance sideways to Haru, Uta offers, "...I think our family has the strangest outings. The others go for walks in parks or something..."

"Uh..." Uta hesitates over Chims. What do those numbers mean? Did Asuna even explain them? These are important questions, but, counterpoint, slimes! They are here!

"...Hello. I am Uta Furore. Musical Kung-Fu Nurse, reporting live from close to the Babel Tower? We have an Angeling with a maid's band, plus three summons with dapper, fierce, and mystical headgear, respectively. Tactical assessment: adorable. Awaiting instructions."

Wait, the instructions have come already! "Oh. Uh. Trap. Laying down. Yes." Uta lays down the trap. What trap can contain a slime? Is it a Ghostbusters-style trap? (Because, besides Red Panda One, that's another solid candidate answer to the question 'Who will answer that call?').

It probably is not a Ghostbusters-style trap. Although that'd be cool. It might likely be some sort of easily shattered thing involving a lot of glass -- considering how glass is one of the few things that slimes don't eat through. And failing that -- likely some appropriately chosen and treated metal -- that's second in line for what is eaten through more slowly.

"The trap has been placed. I repeat, the trap has been placed. Hopefully trap is intact. I have no Alchemy nor Cartography, so I would be at a loss to produce Chrome -or- Alabama."
Pela Clarpuff
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"...R-right! Family outing! ...Flamily outing? ... No seriously what the heck, flanfiction writer???" Pela is just. Still confused as all heck, even as she's getting back into fighting. She's got a grin on her face though, even as her blade sinks into green poporing flesh and she gets bumped by another one.

"T...thanks Haru!" And the talking is just. Okay. Sure. "...S...sure! Cleaning up! Maybe the Angeling will evolve into a Madgeling or something, with the little cap I put on it..!" Pela calls out. Feeding them desserts? Hmm. Actually. Desserts sounded nice right now. Pela shifts, focusing on Tsukimi Divert as she reaches into her pouch. And pulls out a carefully sealed box, popping it open with an audible, soft, 'hiss'... she pulls out... a CHEERY CHEESECAKE! ... Which she starts to nibble on daintily while carefully dodging attacks, leaping, jumping, and twirling through the oncoming attacks as an image of grace and cheesecake-eating. "Mmmm..."

Meanwhile, the Angeling is slowly bouncing forward to join in the bouncy-bumping of Pela. This line of slime enemies was generally not considered the most dangerous, though its holy attacks and healing made the Angeling a bit troubling. At least it wasn't a Deviling. Those like to spawn in really difficult areas.

"...Uhm. ... I mean, I guess I could dust them." Pela murmurs thoughtfully. And as Uta begins to talk, reporting on the situation out loud to the talk. Hm! "...This is a walk in the park, for us, I think!" Pela responds to Uta. "It's just a very angry, hostile park. Full of adorable slimes and ... combo... monsters... the Palace Lands are weird." As the trap is placed, Pela turns, quickly slicing through the three poporing and unleashing a burst of electricity, the air being filled with the smell of green apple while the poporing are left temporarily stunned, and Pela darts towards the trap and over it, the Angeling following suit as she stops on the other side. Finally unleashing one last Vortex Draw to force it to come in faster towards the trap!

"I really should have come prepared for this. I don't have a hat, nor even a headdress!" Elly is quite concerned to be so out of the fashion of the day. The Right Clothes did not anticipate this.

She does her healing job. She's not an endless font of mana, though. She's also not at all casting efficiently. Still, there is a thing she needs to do, even if it means mana potions are going to be consumed en masse.

"Okay, Pela, I'm going to let the big heal fly. Do brace yourself!" And more than just that. She's going to boost her light attribute to its very maximum.

Now due to one thing or another, the RNG is messing with her. Making her weaker than needed. Knowing it just before it happens, Elly feels it. Time just pauses. The dice are rolling. She knows they aren't quite enough, though. And so she rejects that reality and replaces it with her own.

    "FEHU!"

And with that boost to her powers, Elly can unleash her most powerful light spell. The Shackles of Beauty blaze to life, glowing like the sun. The heal rains down, bathing the entire area with its power.

In this case, the trap is a bit of both. Glass on the inside, metal on the outside. It's well prepared and thought out! Asuna would have made it pretty, but she was in a rush and couldn't order stained glass from Haru on such short notice. But she will in the future! She'd like to trap more slimes, please!

"Alright, the hammer is down, Flanfiction! Now you have to use some bear bait to get smokey in there! A bit of meat or an old shoe will work!"

It's probably really hard to tell when Asuna is speaking in slang and when she's being literal. That's what makes it an adventure! Translated, she is suggesting that Uta should put some bait in the trap. Apparently Asuna has decided that the angeling is worthy of police officer slang (smokey). Oddly enough, an old shoe and a bit of meat are just referring to an old shoe or a bit of meat. Huh.

"Now once you get it in position, you are going to need to hit it until it almost dies. Not dies. Don't do that. Killing is a big 10-double-7, Flanfiction. Then spring the trap. Remember, after that, you'll have peanut butter in your ears, so you'll be on your own. Make yourself look big, too!"

Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

Haru pushes his monocle up on the ridge of his nose in a half-Shiroe as he goes to explain to Pela, "A flanfiction writer is one who rites about the finer lives of the subset of slime, the flan. The family one flan grows up into. The friendships the make along the way. Love. Death. The trials and the the growth." Meanwhile his ioun stones are doing /all the work/ for him. "Or one that writes about flan at desert shops." Gotta get them yelp reviews.

"Hats are important," Haru adds in regarding the hats. Really if the options are between hats on spiders and hats on slimes? Slimes. "You have better brought enough for the rest of us," the Artificer says after seeing the holy grail of sweets being snacked on.

"Even when you improvise, you make it look all too easy, Elly," cheers Haru. Uta brings up a good point that makes Haru think, "I do want slime samples for later in alchemy. Enchanted tattoo ink with a slime liquid base could be a new trend." How does Haru have time to do all this talking in combat?! Oh, right. Caster. Pressure it low back there. Just keep slapping the ranged attack, debuff, debuff rotation.
Baroness Wake
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"I almost botched that cast," Elly asides to Haru. "I am not that great at this fighting stuff anymore! Perhaps I will have to get into practice again. Safely, though. I did make a promise and I don't plan on bending it too much farther." Sure, she said she'd be careful and avoid fighting, but if she comes upon enemies in the night and they might find the camp, she has to make a call! Or in this example a cloud of pixels.

"How are you feeling, Pela? Can you sense the light?" A pause. "I mean, obviously you can sense it but do you feel like you can grasp it? Manipulate it?"

    FEEL THE FORCE, PELA!

Elly does keep a very close eye on Uta. But she sees no danger there yet. She doesn't know much about trapping creatures. Surely it is safe, right? Nothing at all risky!

    .... Right?!

Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

The apple-flavored smell lingering in the ionized air after the lightning strike gets Uta to hesitate for a moment. Which is good timing on Pela's behalf, because this allows Uta to catch something unheard by the others on chims.

"Anyone has some meat? In old footwear?", Uta asks, abruptly. "Considering who suggested this, I suspect it must be Itlaian. Now that I think about it, I believe it's called zampone or something."

"Combo monsters only if they are Dire Beasts," Uta corrects Pela. "That's the fascinating part. Monsters, at least the ones not based on beasts, are NOT hybrid in the palace lands. Only Beasts and Dire Beasts are."

"I know where you get your clothes," Uta mentions, "and if you got no hats there, as strange as it sounds, it means you don't need any hats. It is probably some super-advanced Etiquette-fu at work there. Too advanced for me to fathom."

Even if the comment was not directed at her, Uta braces for the heal. And feels the whole area being bathed in the sheer element of Light.

"Oooh, yes, Pela. Feel this. In your heart. In your mind. Do you feel it? Do you feeel Light-hearted already? Light-headed too?"

"And yes, Red Panda One" Uta adds, belatedly, into her chims. "That part I got! 10-double-7! The British agent with a license to kill!"

"It's a tough life to be in a Flandom. So many feels. And all your favorite slimes either get hurt or die. You want to take them from the author and stuff them in a lab and- wait, that's exactly what-"

"...If you want, Elly, I can spar you? I love sparring people!"
Pela Clarpuff
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"...Don't you have that thing that lets you wear whatever you want?" Pela responds to the Baroness. And then she's told to brace herself. Which she does. Lifting her hands and both blades to cover her face, angling the blades to point towards the angeling to deflect some of the light at it as well. Because maybe blinding it would be useful? Who knows. And then a bright light washes over the area. Hooo man.

"I know what a fanfiction writer is It just took me off guard!" Pela responds to Haru, still huffing a bit as she adjusts her outfit. Alright, time to weaken the Angeling. She covers one eye, focusing carefully as it feels as if time slows for her as well. Ba-dump. A shining spot. Ba-dump. Vital areas of the slime located. Ba-dump.

Pela lowers down, one hand still covering one eye as she focuses, the other hand shifting the grip on her blade to a backwards grip as her blade begins to glow a soft red-black. Sword Arte: "Edge of Shadow!" And in a flash of movement, Pela slices through the Angeling with the power of her dark arte, slicing it two times, while the dark energy explodes in their wake, dealing heavy damage -- but not killing -- the Angeling. 'Can you sense the light?' ... She says to Pela, who just used a dark technique.

"...Yes? It's the opposite of the darkness I use for my ninpon techniques... really... that's about it, really? ...More... soothing. Like my cooking. Cheery Cheesecake or Mellowing Melonpan's soothing-ness." She nods quietly.

'Some meat or something'? Hm. Pela takes a moment as she looks at the angeling. "...Ooh, I know." Pela quickly reaches into her pocket, pulling out a Mellowing Melonpan, which she tosses into the trap for Uta, standing right next to it and bouncing the Angeling back into the trap any time it attempts to bounce out of it, darting around as necessary. Stay where you're supposed to be, Angeling!
Haru
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"If it was a florafiction writer would it take you off gourd," Haru teases Pela to lay on the puns with his 'Yes, I must explain things. When you wear glasses its part of the terms and conditions'. Its really what Haru brings to the table right now. All his usual showmanship is reduced to puns and pews. Pewdiepuns. Without killing the slimes. Pewsubdue puns.

As for Elly, "Your worst is most people's best. Even in retirement you slay. Well. Subdue. We are keeping them alive." For future studies.

"I can't fight you, Uta! That'd be like fighting my own flesh-and-blood!" Elly is aghast at the suggestion. She'd probably do nothing but heal Uta in such a battle. And apologize profusely in the most convincing apologies ever heard in all of history. Likely enhanced in their sincerity with legend buffing.

"Well, yes, Pela there is that point. You know, light and dark are opposite. There's the divine aspect, too. Honestly, most light users seem to miss this part, but the sacred nature of light is truly its most critical matter. Without faith in the divine, it's nothing more than a flashlight, right?"

    She should really settle down.

"Haru, tattoos? That sounds really amazing. What could they do, exactly? Like, can they change color when someone is in a certain mood?"

Admittedly, that may have come out wrong. She is just asking for strictly theoretical purposes. And if not, she's married. Her private details are her private details!

"So I'm not sure of your sitch," admits Asuna as she drifts, horribly and thankfully briefly, into another slang minefield. "So listen up, good buddy! If you still got ears on me, it should be about time to activate that trap. If you've got the go-go juice for it, a flick of air will do the trick. Otherwise you just stomp on the lever and that slime'll be ready for your turn and burn. Just keep in mind, it's still dangerous, so you'll be suicide jockey until you get it handled successfully."

Uta
The Palace Lands - 32 - -9 - 0

"/Flan/fiction," Uta pointedly corrects Pela, as she sets the trap. "I'm in a Flandom. Not a fandom. COMPLETELY different ball game."

She flicks her inventory open, navigates through it, snaps her fingers, and shimmers an old shoe into existence at the battlecry of 'a-HA!', talking away; she doesn't know what she's to say, but she'll say it anyway.

"Today is another day to find you!". Shying away might be a thing Pela does, but Uta? Uta is coming for your Angeling. OK?

"I knew my disasterous attempt at fishing would come in handy at some point. Now, uhm... Pela, I understand meat might not be quite what we are looking for, but think you can add some cake to this?"

The trap is set, the trap is clear. Uta's the expert, and she shall catch this slime, whether or not it is in the shape of a kitten! Her gaze draws an invisible line between herself and Wake, and there's a silent, somber nod of acknowledgement at her reluctance to fight. Then it's Haru's turn, and Uta lets out a sigh of relief at learning that the slimes are stayin'alive, stayin'alive, a-ha, a-ha, talking away, she doesn't know what to say. She'll say it anyway.

"Wait... the tattoo ink can be made out of... slimes?!"

No, Uta. Do not think about the slime ink right now. About having a little bit of slime always with you to pet in those difficult moments. Focus on the task at hand.

The trap is set. The trap is clear. The shoe needs some form of food in it, then it can be tossed inside as a bait.

Rinse, repeat, victory.

"...T...that's so bad! It's maid me cringe!" Pela responds to Haru, huffing a bit, she's trying not to laugh. She's trying /really/ hard not to laugh, this is serious defend yourself from being murdered time! Sheesh! "...A-are we trying to capture the poporing too? Or just the angeling?" Pela asks out loud.

That's the point. The divine aspect too. Pela pauses at that, closing her eyes. Taking a deep breath as she lifts her blade, holding it in both hands as she pictures one of the statues of the blind one. The patron of the cait sith and the foolhardy, those who rely on luck and bravery. Seen as useless by many, but one that Pela had come to feel close to. A silent calm falls over Pela as she slowly breathes, the energy in her blade beginning to shift, moving from dark to light and back again. And then she opens her eyes, the glow on her blade a bright white. "...The Blind Blessing to the Brave." She murmurs quietly under her breath. She flicks her blade around, patting the Angling on the head as she darts past it, moving towards the three poporing to slice through them, a flash of light. ... And... ... Yep no that was just more lightning. Not light magic. The green apple smell is nice though. It was pretty close! Maybe!
When Uta asks her to put some cake in the boot, Pela pulls out another Mellowing Melonpan, which she flicks into the boot with ... careful accuracy! And/or assumptions that Uta is going to use it.

And... eventually... as the trap is triggered... pomf! There was now an Angeling In A Trap! Victory music!

"...Okay! Flandom! Flandom it is!" Pela says with a laugh, as she flops over as the trap is capturing the Angeling, and the poporings pomf into loot.

"We did it," victory fanfares Haru. Which for Haru is just standing there and letting the wind go over him like he is some badass or something. Monocle glint.

To the topic of tattoos and slime liquid, "Yes, I do need to have consultations for yourself, Elly, as well as Tae and others. The first people to get their tattoos, temps, or paints would be those closest to me." There is a handwave, "Which has also spurred my desire to formally learn Artisan(r)y. Subject to diligence and the grace of the Goddesses." As that is how you learn things, make a diety happy. Sugar is required.

Elly is listening to Haru's comments about getting ink done more than she is paying attention to the battle. She throws on two totally pointless heals on Pela, who is already fully healed.

"I'm sure Tae is going to be excited! And you are going to study art? That'd be wonderful. I imagine you could make stained glass wonders even more marvelous than they already are. When you have time and desire, perhaps I can commission something on an even grander scale?" A pause as she thinks. "Like, say, replacing the glass in an entire city? I'm certain the goddesses will take note of your efforts."

Priestess' got a straight line to the source, after all! Not really, of course, but it's about as close as one will get.

She turns her focus on the fight. Only to find it's over and there's a monster in a neat little glass and metal box. "Oh. Huh. How did that get in there?" Getting through a whole fight, wasting mana, and having no situational awareness?! She's already mastered being a healer!!
Uta

"Hole in one. Jack in the box," Uta attempts to chim over to Asuna, making up slang and hoping it's accurate. "Pop goes the weasel! It's a 24-7! The whole 9 yards!" Having successfully trapped the slime ends combat and restores chims, right?

"We did it!", Uta exclaims to those in the room, raising the metal and glass container. Yes, there's a victory fanfare. No, it isn't provided by the system, Uta is acappella'ing it.

"Art..." Uta trails off, absent-minded. Mental images of stained glass tattoo somehow dance in her mind. Glass noodle arms. How would those even work? *Magic*! But they'd sure look nice.

Back from her distraction, Uta comments, "...hm. Maybe I'll try something temporary to see what it's like... if it's the right thing for me...", then peers into the box, leaving enough room for the others to join into observing the Angeling. "So, Pela, if you want to swing by my lab and practice with this little guy here...", she says, gesturing towards the Angeling, "...I'd be honored to Handle it for you." Where by 'be honored' she obviously mean 'have a lot of fun'. We all know Uta by now.

As Uta turns to Wake, and quirks an eyebrow, and offers, "Oh, uh, it was because..." A frown. "Yeah, good question, how did this get in here?"

Seeing Uta blip to go into combat, then back out, Asuna knows all is well. She even drops out of CB slang! "Congratulations, Uta. Looks like you got it!" A pause. "Now I really need to get going cause I kinda may have sorta... lost Tomoe." Deep breath. "ButI'msuresheisfineandnobodyisgoingtogeteatenbye!"
