Crownless Cup: Syx vs June

Goldenblade smiles and waves to the crowds here to see another event in the great tournament. She looks around, and then shouts out to the crowd, needing no amplification as she's used to bellowing, "Ladies and Gentlemen, and Landers of All Ages! Tonight, you will witness a contest of strength and stamina, of grit and perserverence, a contest of /fists/, but more, so much more." She pauses as the crowd gives a cheer. "You have come together to witness a clash of titans," she shouts, then gestures towards Syx. "In this corner, the man who can suplex anything, Triple Syx!" She gestures to June, "In this corner, The Sage of Scripture, the Sleeping Knight, the Iron Librarian!" She smiles to the audience, "And so with no further ado, lets get it on!" She will step back, and signal the fighters to start.

Vertina isn't vending in the crowds tonight. Not for Syx's fight. She's here fully as a spectator and fan as well as fellow Godhand. Of course, this means she can also actually enjoy a few drinks and some food for herself, because she's not 'working'. "Whoo! This is going to be like the last Mega Slam-O-Rama."

Now there's one thing Syx knows it's how to make an entrance. So when he gets called out by Goldenblade, Syx appears at his side of the arena in a massive flash of light, drawing attention to himself for the crowd, "Oh yeah! Lets hear it for Goldenblade!" He calls out to the crowd, pointing at GB with one hand while holding up his other in a fist, which then fires a few firework-like explosions into the air.

    June isn't really one to be shown up, the short frumpy woman in the Red Sonja cosplay walks out into the arena holding her hands up in the air. A long rectangular box hangs on one hip where some people would keep a sword, and a pair of metal shell like 'boxing gloves' appear on her hands with glowing runes across the punching surfaces. "It's a brawl at the mall! Let's do this thing! Thanks for the intro Golden!" she says waving like a school girl spotting a friend on the street. Then iron scales slide over her skin and her face stretches into a bovine muzzle, long iron horns sprouting from her temples.

Syx finishes his entrance, and points at Vertina in the crowd, before turning to face June, "Alright June, I'm diggin' the outfit." He says, with a grin. He at least gives her the chance to transform into her were fang form, before he plants his feet.

Flames immediately burst around him, engulfing him in a firestorm, and he pushes off the ground, sailing across the distance between himself and June in a flash, aiming to grab hold of June and haul her up into the air, twisted around, and then slammed into the ground with all of the flames following her into the ground in a veritable explosion.

Yes Syx is opening with his finishing move, because nobody ever expects that!

    June and Syx come from similar schools of thought on combat. While she doesn't go straight to her finishing move, a small sparkle of golden light scintilates over her iron scales, and then she's charging. Her head down horns ready and she puts her all into trying to turn Syx into a rodeo clown.

Grappling with June is quite literally like trying to wrestle a bull. Which Syx did once in Mexico, it actually was a pretty popular video on the internet at one point!

The wrestler gets hit, the horns jabbing in and spearing him, but he flips backwards over top of June, taking a solid step and throwing a kick at the back of her leg, before reaching up to grab her around the waist and bend backwards to throw her into the ground with full force.

    June goes down, but as she lands on the floor of the arena. She speaks a few words and a torrent of water sweeps her out from under Syx and back to her feet letting her start running to come around for another charge. However that was a feint, while they were wrestling the iron clad bovine managed to stick an Ofuda to Syx's back, the spells contained therin detonating in a swirl of cutting winds and dark energy.

Oh man, water? That's the worst, with how fire based Syx's combat style is. Well, no sense in stopping just because he's getting wet. Syx actually lets the water wash over him, extinguishing his flames. It looks like he's not even moving to attack, as he waits for June to turn around and engage him with that spell.

Flames suddenly surge around him again, and he rolls away, the spell exploding across his back, but he finishes his charge, and he swings a massive haymaker punch, aiming to hit June in the head with a focused attack that'll send her flying!

Wow, that was a wicked set of combos going back and forth. Vertina always gets a kick from seeing Syx pull out the weapons she helped him made. But despite being a librarian or whatever June is clearly no slouch either. "Com'n Syx, take that bull by the horns!" At least she didn't call June a cow.

    June takes the hit, just as she was about to breath out the devastation that is her Petrifying Breath, and it seems she's sucked it back down the wrong pipe, a flailing kick sent Syx's way even as her iron scales start turning the grey of stone.

Syx jumps back as she starts to try to breathe that status debuff on him, "Oh crap!" He brings his hands up, burning gauntlets blocking the kick, before he swings one of those flaming fists upwards, trying to catch June in the gut with it and knock the wind out of her.

    June is sent sprawling as her body locks up with stone covering her iron hide, but as the effect fades another rush of water pushes her to her feet and she charges. The writing across her knuckles flaring into bright holy light. She starts throwing punches, one after the other, not even waiting to get to Syx before she starts doing so. Each punch sends a wave of holy light ripping across the arena bearing the inscription 'Ultima Scripta' the Final Word and 'Ultima Ratio' the Final Judgement.

As June's punches start to rain down on him, Syx starts to return punches to her. The two of them just standing there, blurs of flame punches from one side, and blurs of light punches from the other side. Something has to give sooner or later!

    And there it is, what the audience was looking for, the two Godhands going at it, fist to fist, face to face. June digs deep and with a bovine bellow another flurry of holy holy litsmashing out from the glowing inscriptions along the bells of her twin cestus.

It would seem that what gives is Syx's defense as he struggles to keep up, until June's punches finally overwhelm him and his health craters down into the red, ending the fight with the usual fanfare as Syx finally gets thrown back away from her, landing with a crash on the ground, "Ow. Hell.." He opts to just lay there for the moment, though his tail flicks faintly.

    June pauses after the final holy powered punch sends Syx to the mat. Just holding it like she's waiting for someone to do a Screen Cap... even after two years posing when the boss goes down is something she just feels a need to do. Then she lifts both hands in the air, her own HP bar well down to the flashing red. "No one doubt the power of the written word." she says before she clangs her cestus together and then sends them to inventory. "Come on, duel rules means you're not THAT hurt." she says playfuly nudging Syx's tail with a hoof before switching back to human form. "Come on, lets go get something to eat and get drunk." she says holding her hand out to help Syx up.

Syx turns over and grabs the offered hand after she nudges his tail, pulling himself up to his feet with the help, "Okay. I'm buying since I lost." He says, as he wraps an arm around her, "Hey Vertina, lets go get wasted!" He calls out to his fellow salamander, motioning her on over to join them.

Vertina makes her way out of the stands once the fight is over. "Sorry you lost Syx. But that was one heck of a fight to watch! Great job guys."

    June lifts a fist in the air. "Hell yah! Drinking till we can't see!" she's already forgotten or never cared too much who wins, she just wanted a good fight and she got one hell of a fight.
