Meet the Landers: Mizufa Trude

Syx has been Strange Mooding recently, and as a result he has been spending most of his time in the ranch, until something else hits him and drags him somewhere else, which is how he found himself at Doc's casino the other night.

And perhaps it's what's lead him to Breg Epona, but he finds himself standing in front of the entrance to the arena, looking up at the gates, and thinking. He hasn't seen her in a while, but he had been seeking out Mizufa Trude. After the poor performance in the tournament, Syx has been looking for ways to better himself, for his sake and the sake of everybody else that doesn't have to fight when he does. She's a leader in the army, and while he's never exactly been much of a military guy, he knows that she might be able to help him train himself up with the Empire's forces. She did say she'd meet him here in the letter when he reached out to her.

It isn't often that Mizufa Trude gets an actual letter into her office. It isn't like the people of the Holy Empire Westelande don't do messages or can't read - but they have a preference for directness. People who come directly and demand.

As Syx steps into the arena - indeed Mizufa Trude's most common place of work to help the younger students in training - she is just finishing up. A few young men stepping back from the circle of the Arena.

"Welcome." The woman remarks at Syx, before lashing her incredibly long whip in Syx's direction, letting it slap across the ground at his side. "What can I do you for?" She asks of him.

"I wanted to talk to you. All I got back was that you'd be here, which you know, I shoulda figured." He says, as he doesn't quite flinch when the whip slaps the ground next to him, "I don't know if you managed to get to the Crownless Cup but I didn't do so hot. It's not a great look for a multi-time world champ."

He continues to move towards her, "So I guess I'm here to ask for help. Or I suppose more specifically, I want to do the Rocky 4 training montage." He knows she won't actually get what that means but it has the word training in it, he knows she'll get that, "And you're one of the best trainers I know, which is why the Empire's army has the reputation it does."

"I fear I did not. With the Palace Lands still being a potential threat, high ranking members of this army do not get to travel very much." She answers, considering Syx for a moment. "But if I recall - the name Syx did not get very far in the tournament."

When she mentions Rocky Four, the woman raises her brow. "Is that the name of an Adventurer?" She asks. "And I am not 'one of the best trainers' you know, I am <the> best trainer you know." She tries firmly to impress upon Syx.

"So, in short, you are looking to stop being weak, and join this army in order to get my training?" She inquires of him. "You understand this means properly joining this military - which means that if we ask for your presence, you must show?"

"Rocky is a really good fighter. He's...Sure he's an adventurer yeah. Not here, but he was famous for being the underdog. Which is what I feel like right now." He responds, as he nods in response to her saying she's THE best trainer.

Then he gets serious at her last question "I do understand that." He says, matter of factly, "If that's what it takes to make myself better, then that's what I'll do." The look on his face is a very determined one, as he's clearly thought enough about this to want to make a major shift like joining one of the militaries.

To the Landers, there's no doubt only upside here. To have an 'immortal' Adventurer amongst their midst is generally considered a good thing. And out of all the martial organizations amongst the Landers, this is certainly the most popular one.

Still, the woman considers this for a moment. Touching her hand to her chin while furrowing her brow a bit. Considering the one before her. "You will have to prove yourself." She then declares.

"There have been insectoid creatures harassing our troops. I want you to work on getting into some of their tunnels, and attacking their egg-nests in order to lower their population." She demands of Syx.

"Oh, that sounds like a lot of fun actually." Syx says, after she mentions the insectoid creatures, "If you can give me a general area where the troops are getting attacked, I can get together a group of adventurers and we'll clear 'em out for you. I will absolutely do that to prove myself."

"I'll send you a... letter, with the details on it." Syx might recall that her handwriting was not exactly the best in the world. In fact, she may have signed her name with a splotch of blood in order to seem more viscious. "For now, let's see what you've got to show for your current skills." As she lashes her whip and readies for a friendly duel within the arena with Syx, if he'll take her up on it.

"Okay. Lets do it." Syx replies, as he takes a couple of steps back, and then his gauntlets come up in front of him as he gets into a combat position, "You know I'll never turn down a fight!"
