Duty Session 595: The Doodie

    "I mean, I hate to be that guy, but like..." Lauren trails off, staring into the literal hole they have been left to enter. "Does it strike anyone else as strange that we're hunting rats for the cats?" She asks. It's a very imp-like question. The shadows swirl happily at her feet, a native reminder that dark spaces and tunnels are not a universally shared fear. She stands ready with her party.

    "So..." Lauren trails off. "A water sample. Do we have an alchemist between us?" She glances bewteen Jayu and Soujiro.

"Adventures take us to all sort of places," Soujiro says as he heads on in with the group. Some of those places are under cities looking for 'water samples'. No, Souji is not an alchemist. He is a samurai.

    Lauren, however, is an artificer, and they're strange enough as is that she just takes Soujiro's word for it. "I'm an artificer," she informs. "Lauren. I am bad with introductions, holy mother of /what is that smell/," she hisses.
    And, to the disgust if not fear of many, a swarm of rodents.

Jayu looks rather upbeat for someone who is delving into a sewer. He has a cheerful smile not to dissimilar from Soujiro's though his lacks the raw charismatic power of the most popular samurai in ETO.

He hangs back from the group, practicing some punches where no one will get accidentally punched. When Lauren asks if there are any alchemists present, he scratches the back of his head with a nervous smile, "Well, we don't necessarily have to be an Alchemist to collect a Water Sample, right?" With that, Jayu just sort of... WATER BENDS the water into a vial. "Ah. They call me Jayu. I am an all purpose fighter. Mostly a pugilist, to be fair."

Soujiro Seta is friendly. Warm, even. "Soujiro Seta of the West Wind Brigade. It is nice to meet you, Lauren, Jayu." Polite without being all that stuffy. More like the kind of person you'd expect to see at some sporting event. "I am a samurai," he lets them know, drawing out his blade a the same time he attacks, slicing rats in twain, "So I'll be in the front tanking and dealing damage."

    It goes without saying that the artificer, while good with water, is not good with rats. "Hurk," She says, attempting to maintain distance from the swarm by employing-- as ever-- a ranged attack that misses spectacularly. And to catch her balance, she does indeed... step on a rat. "Hurk. It's so good to meet you both. I'm a spellslinger. I like my place in the back."
    Here, the challenge is a bit different: she slices and dices with the shadows, shooting arrows.
    "So. Either of you know how to track?" She asks, glancing between the (still foul smelling) cavern.

Jayu, who was pummeling on the rats in melee, slides back and instead uses some street fighter looking energy blasts in order to form the proper formation. "Sure thing, Soujiro-san, Lauren-san! I will provide vangard damage in the middle."

When the rats are all taken care of, Jayu confirms with Lauren, "I am a rather experienced tracker. I used to... ah... Track people. In the Palace lands." He laughs nervously. Perhaps he is uncomfortable about this topic? At any rate, he goes about tracking...

Soujiro Seta lets Jayu know, "Souji is fine, we are all new friends, right?" The casual non-honorific first name nickname in record time. "I am a sword saint," he says, across his many titles, "though that is less 'torchlight' and more 'holy light'." Know what that means? Holy torchlight! It does not do the same thing.

    Lauren is no more successful at finding anything, and so, the group... stumbles forward into the water-logged tunnels. Lauren's happiness is hardly affected. "I hope so," She tells Souji. "I love a good team of friends!"
    And she'll need it, if we are to find our way out.

Jayu's eyes seem to glow at the mention of friends as he tracks the trail of slime to its source, "Yes, let's all be good friends. After this I plan on doing some punching drills. Do either of you want to join me?" No XP Wasted. That's Jayu's motto.

Soujiro Seta enthuses at the notion of punching things. More specifically, "Training? One of my favorite things to do when not getting to know people and seeing them smile." Sparkle. Only Souji can make a sewer look spring time fresh with that attitude. And then uses his stronk-ness to press on.

    It is a team effort of magnificent proportions, and it leads to our heroes finding themselves... facing a giant cube.
    "I wonder who flushed it down the sewer," Lauren whispers. "Gosh I hope nobody tells Uta."

Jayu determines fairly quickly that punching this creature won't help... So he tries a different strategy: he magically grabs the excess water in the creature and begins to tear it apart piece by piece. It doesn't seem to enjoy this very much. "Ah. If you think this Uta shouldn't know, I trust your judgement."

Soujiro Seta gives a smile, for a bright smile can lighten any mood. Including fighting the biggest cube of crap that anyone has seen. Souji may sparkle, but he is not afraid to get messy! In fact, his attacks are almost negating the situation with brewtastic freshness.
