Grapes of Wrath

Jae Gu is working hard at Camp Wrath attempting to liberate the Crowned from Rosenheim control. Yeowang discovers he is there, something he might have forgotten to inform her about.

Before returning to the Palace Lands after his liberation from his crown, Jae Gu had conversed with Yeowang on his desire to remain away from danger until his spawn point was set as something other than Rosenheim. Ultimately, Jae Gu decided he needed to face this fear of his, for there were people who needed to be freed, just like him. He may have neglected to update Yeowang on this, however...

At any rate, Camp Wrath has been rather active as of late. Recently, a trap for the rebellion was laid: the Adventurers deigned to spring it in lieu of the Rebellion, and Jae Gu had opted to join them. The bait had been some freshly captured adventurers, yet uncrowned, and the plan was to rescue them before they became so. The operation when like clockwork but for one wrench in the cogs. While Jae Gu attempted to open the door to the cage holding the adventurers, one of them recognized him from his days as a Crowned Adventurer sworn to Lorelai. Apparently, Jayu was the one to capture his wife, and now she is Crowned. This event has shaken him.

Jae Gu has made a pledge to himself to rescue every Crowned Adventurer that he can. This involves him taking an active role in the rebellion rather than the passive one he had first intended. And so, in this role he can be seen, assisting a male Werefang with moving boxes from storage to the kitchens.

Yeowang was not, herself, involved in that rescue operation, but understood some major players from the Yamato side were involved. She also understood her beloved was involved in the defense, and has been active independently over here on his own. This is as it should be, Jae Gu was his own man, never meant to be simply another tool for her use.

That said, when she rides in on a supply wagon, looking a bit rough and wearing a kerchief over her face, so that not too many people get splattered on when she coughs, which she still does from time to time.

"Jae Gu!" she calls, she hasn't quite got the hang of the game names, if they really even matter for us. "Ah, there you are. I'm sorry I've been so busy, but I see you've found your feet!" She smiles, hops from the wagon, catches herself, and moves towards him. "But I'm almost done with most of the things I had going on, and may have some free time in a few days."

Jayu is somewhat surprised by the presence of Yeowang so suddenly, but he doesn't believe it to be an unpleasant one by any means. The mere presence of the pugilist/banker is enough to bring a smile to Jae Gu's face. "Ah! Well, I have been keeping myself busy, what with a bit of manual labor here, some covert operations there... Nothing too dangerous. I just... Want to make up for what I have done in the past, you know?" He sets down the box that was in his arms, and moves to meet Yeowang. There is a moment's hesitation as he reaches out to take her hand with a nervous smile. "Are you feeling well? You look a little under the weather." A slight twinge of concern is present in his tone. There are very few instances in Jae Gu's memory that Yeowang ever looked less than perfect. Even when she was in the middle of a brawl, she would always show a divine radiance akin to an angel. That she is even a LITTLE rough around the edges has him worried more than he would let on.

Yeowang has dark circles under her eyes that would do credit to a racoon cait sith, and a quick Inspect will show her to have some kind of cold-like thing, brought on by her recent overwork. Well, she had been pedal to the metal for weeks, if you don't let up on that, things will break. She takes his hand greatfully to steady herself and admits, "I may have had a few too many irons on various fires." She covers her mouth as she coughs, turning away for a moment, then turning back. "I think I am doing better now, though on the ship ride over, I barely came out of my cabin."

Jayu does well to hide MOST of his concern, but a little still leaks out through his eyes. Still, he gives her a smile as he sits down on the large box he had, until recently, been carrying, and gently pulls on her arm, indicating for her to do the same, "Even for someone like you, who sometimes seems indestructable, resting is still important, I guess. Is there anything I can do? Chicken noodle soup? Maybe I could force you into a bed?" He takes a couple of seconds to process what he just said: he blushes, "Ah... Skip that last one. Soup would be good, right?"

Yeowang's meals are almost certainly taken care of, she has the cash to keep a small staff busy with that, though rest seems to be catch as catch can in this gaming environment. She laughs at the idea of forcing her into bed, but says, "I think you would be bored," hecause rather than cuddling, she would just crash hard. "I ... haven't been very hungry lately," she admits, so she's probably been skipping meals. Malnutrition isn't one of the debuffs she's running, but she supposes, "I might be able to hold down some soup."

Jayu had every intention, with his words, to make her take some bed rest, and the words came out wrong. "I... remember taking care of my siblings when they were sick. Maybe some rice porridge would help instead?" A large chunk if Jae Gu's memories on his siblings were lost in the process of his Crowning, but he still remembers a great deal. Enough to remember he was their parent after... something happened? His dad died... what happened to his mother? He gives his head a shake. His memories were like swiss cheese after that Church...

"I don't know if they have much in the way of beds other than the infirmary, but... Maybe that's where you should go anyways, with you being ill?"

Yeowang rises with an effort from the box we'd been sitting on and she nods slowly at rice porridge. Maybe it's just the rich meals she's had made disagreeing with her? "I would be pleased if you took care of me," she says with a smile, and can sense Jayu's hesitation. She hates to bring it up, though, to remind him of what more he might have lost, instead saying, "Show me the way, I think maybe some food and a rest may do me good." Jayu was always better at taking care of people, she recalls, whereas she simply relied on others, he relied on himself.

Jayu was tempted to throw Yeowang into a full-blown princess carry, but such a thing at this point would be, perhaps, going a bit too far. Yeowang has her pride for one, and it would be distracting for all those around for another... He makes due with being a shoulder to lean on as he leads her to the Infirmary, "As much as I am sorry that you are sick, it is nice that we get to spend a little time with each other."

As they leave the box behind on the side of the road, the Werefang he had been assisting gives him the side eye, as if to say, 'Are you ditching me for your lady friend?' He shoots back a nervous smile with an apologetic look. He was, in fact, doing that. Because Yeowang is the most important part of his life...

And into the infirmary they go, which is surprisingly well taken care of for a wartime infirmary. Due to the presence of Magic, there are few people that actually STAY in the infirmary, so there are plenty of open beds. Jae Gu assists Yeowang into bed and pulls up a chair as he inquires on the quality of the bed, "How is it? 5-stars?"

Yeowang recalls a princess-carry moment with Jae Gu with amusement. The one she recalls, and he might be hesitant to remember, is when she saw a bug in his house and leaped into his arms. What might make him hesitant to remember was then when he realized our position, and how it certainly looked to her friends, he dropped her. But it was very nice for a moment, and felt quite right to her.

But she will graciously accept the escort to the infirmary tent.

The tent impresses her, and that's as chief executive officer of Yamato's Red Chain organisation. A parallel to the Red Cross in RL, but the point is that she's no stranger to field hospitals. As she settles into bed and feels the fatigue was over her, she says, "I don't know about five stars. You really need at least a four-piece orchestra for all five stars. But I wouldn't argue against four and a half."

Jayu gives off a chuckle, unsure if she is joking or not, "Well, it would probably be a bad idea to play music here, as we ARE trying to keep this location secret."

This would normally be the point where Jae Gu would have to leave to make the porridge, but rather than that, he opts to remove his hat and begin to remove things from it like a Vegas Magician. First is the rice porridge, which looks to be lightly seasoned with cinnamon, several different kinds of apples, and a tea pot followed by two cups. This is a really nice hat.

He sets the other things aside as he takes the porridge and a spoonn. He scoops up some porridge, and - this is the most important part - blows on it gently before offering some to her mouth.

Yeowang was, in fact, being ironic. She understands the need for secrecy. She sometimes forgets that Jayu doesn't come from the world of five-star cuisine, but she is never-the-less pleased with what he feeds her, taking the offered spoonful and smiling gratefully. "Thank you," she tells him, smiling happily.
