An Iron Fist In a Velvet Glove

Gwen needs potential dates to auction off at her charaity fundraiser for the Red Chain.

Gwen's friends help with the recruiting by heading into Mithrilscale Ironworks, and talking to Miho.

The first step in enchanting is to acquire suitable materials. Well, actually that's the second step. First you plan, then you diagram your intent. THEN you acquire materials. Fuka's pretty good at it though, and either knows the enchantment she intends to create or has enough confidence to decide to wing it. She just needs a few things to help set the stage, literally and figuratively. So of course she's dragging Uta around to help her shop! Besides, she also knows the smith here, and killing two birds with one stone is likely to be handy. Also amusing, if Fuka's any judge of what's amusing.

"Given what we need, I think the best place to find it is somewhere there's a lot of pounding going on." Fuka explains to Uta as they walk through the entrance of the Ironworks. Of course she hasn't explained exactly what she needs. From all she's bothered to explain so far, which is little enough, Uta *might* think they're here to recruit dates. Which they are, but that's not what Fuka's referring to. Probably.

"I would ask if you could, for once, NOT make this weird," Uta sighs, pinching the bridge of her nose. "but at this point I have lost any hope to ever achieving this result." What are you going to go? This is Fuka. You cannot take the Fuka out of the Fukaziroh and expect to have anything left. All you have left is ziroh, literally.

Or numberly.

She looks around, and an expression of recognition appears on her features. "Oh, I know this smithy!" She turns to Fuka. "So, you're planning to recruit Giganpor?"
Miho
Dun Loireag - Mithrilscale Ironworks

Miho is just working at her forge she's got various orders though most of them are from Landers these days, she doesn't mind though it's good honest work and she's hammering away in the forge as some new people arrive at the Ironworks. Her dog barks at the two new arrivals but they don't seem hostile he may try to get a snack out of the two guests cause what dog would not?

"Giganpor?! I haven't heard hide no hair ofd him in ages so what can I do for you two?" CLANG! she's still hammering something in the back.

Fuka grins at Uta's reaction, pleased. Everything is fine, everything is normal. Fuka normal, at least. "You should never give up hope!" she insists, though she's pretty sure Uta's not exactly serious with her statement. All the better to joke around about it.

She pauses to oooh at the doggo, putting her palms on her knees and bending down to be on the dog's level. Well, more on the dog's level than she normally is. Food? It's a possibility, but pets and ear ruffles are definitely in the offering! While attempting to woo the dog, she glances over at Uta. "Well maybe I was and maybe I wasn't!" she claims shiftily. "And Homi's cuter besides, don't you think?" she asks. Then, louder, she answers the smith's questions. "We've come to put you up for auction to the highest bidder to have their way with you! Also I need some metalworking. A nice metal frame suitable to signage, that has enough surface area to hold a slightly intricate but relatively low-energy enchantment engraving. But that's less important!"
Uta

Uta leaves Fuka to bond with the dog. The Nurse knows that Handling Animals is not one of her strong points, and keeps at a distance: Miho's dog seems nice, but one never knows. One can never be too careful, and all that. Still, she looks genuinely pleased that Fuka seems to enjoy the moment.

"Hey, Miho!", she greets. She winces at Fuka's blurting out, and attempts to add, more serious, "...What Fuka here means is that we wanted to discuss a bit about the Red Chain. One of the best things the New World Alliance came up with, right? As a nurse, I cannot but be in complete alignment with its goals and motivations."

"...Who is Homi?", she finally asks Fuka.

Miho looks over to fuka for a moment as she enter and sher tilt he head. "..."

Her eyes narrow at Fuka her mouth opens and the faint glow of fire can be seen for a moment before hse closes it.

"... I'm sorry what....?"

She gets the order for the sign.

"speak quickly before we both get a trip to the ..."

Uta with the save as she comes in and explains things in more detail.

"So what does trying to sell me to someone as a harem girl involves the red chain!?"

Fuka happily pets a canin while delighted at Uta's 'clarification' and Miho's confusion. "Hi Homi!" she chimes, answering one of Uta's questions. Fair is fair, so she answers one of Miho's as well. "It wouldn't be as a harem girl, not if that's not something you're into!" Fuka reassures, probably not very reassuringly.

"We're getting volunteers for auctioning as a charity date! And you're cute, so you'd raise a lot of money! Uh, for the Red Chain I mean. Heck I'd bid on you myself! I mean okay I'd bid on a lot of hot people and you DO work in a forge. I'm sure Songbird can fill you in on the other reasons you might join, but I'm afraid right now they completely escape my mind!" Fuka blathers, tapping her head with one fist and making a face.

"The Red Chain has provided an invaluable service to all those caught in the most disasterous events this world has witnessed," Uta continues, trying to steer the discussion into a more serious track. "Gwen Pendragon of the Chain Mail Bikini +1, in Alne, is organizing an event to help finance it, so that Adventurers and Landers alike can be saved in time from the wounds of battle and natural catastrophes." She walks closer. "For the Landers, it can mean the difference between life and death. And for us Adventurers... you've heard about our memories, right? We're not as immortal as we thought."

"And... you know, this is a serious event, organized for a serious and worthy cause. It's marketed as a 'date' to tie into the Bonded Hearts festival, but actually, one just has to spend some time with the bid's winner. No romance has to take place, if you don't want to. It's all up to you!"
Miho

Miho looks to Fuka for a moment nad makes a face she's not reassured at all about what she could end up as then she now gets the full deal. "Well i can make you that commision but me as dating material?" She makes a face at Fuka then looks to Uta for a moment she tilts her head and pauses "She's involved huh? Yes I'm keenly aware of that we can only get back up so many times and I don't like to push it ..." She looks at uta she feels like Uta is almost on the verge of wibble face. "...Fine." How the hell do you tell Uta no, really?
Fukaziroh

Fuka certainly knows a few things about persuading someone shy to do something fun that they're not sure they're supposed to actually enjoy. Introvert handling is a skill, and Fuka's got it. Right now surely the best approach would be to simmer down and let Uta handle things. Kind of a good cop thirsty cop type situation. But Fuka's never one to let things go while lines remain to be crossed!

"Right right, serious event." Fuka agrees, at least in speech. In attitude, perhaps not so much. "Besides, you get to have fun at someone else's expense and trust me, that's something no one should pass up ever!" she grins suggestively. "Really, that's the only thing the dates have to do. Be themselves, and if someone decides they want to be with you for a time because of that, then they should continue being themselves!" explains the little sylph. "Of course you can also try *not* being yourself a little bit, for the sake of raising money for charity. But you don't HAVE to! I mean, I totally get it, and I would never want to pretend to be someone I'm not just to draw some fool boy's attention. Not for any reason. But this event's just a chance to have a little fun and help out a good cause. Getting a little hot you know what action has absolutely nothing to do with it!"
Uta

Miho may have accepted already, but dang it, Uta had been charging up the wibble face this whole time, and if there's one thing that one finds annoying is gearing up for The Thing and have The Thing cancelled at the last minute. That... no. Just... no. Now she's just going to have to do the wibble face anyway!

And so, Uta does the wibble face anyway.

"Fuka!", Uta finally exclaims at her friend's mentioning 'hot' and 'action' in the same sentence. "You ruined the wibble face," Uta complains.

A sigh, and then Uta returns to smile. "In any case, thank you!", she says, clapping her hands. "And yes, don't worry, I ensured it's absolutely safe. All those people who will be saved because of your contribution, I'm sure, will be forever grateful!"
Miho

Miho looks at the wibbling at her anyway "Fine they can even pick the outfit i wear just top Uta please!" She looking like she's been kicking a whole litter of puppies. "So you also needed me to forge something else for this event do you have the details?"
Fukaziroh

Not just hot action but hot you know what action!! Fuka's not convinced Uta knows what, but that's okay. She clearly knows Fuka well enough to know that Fuka knows. Or something like that. "It was a wonderful wibble face." Fuka praises Uta, accompanying it with a fond grin. It certainly seemed to affect Miho!

Fuka blinks, looking back to Miho. "Yes, thank you for volunteering! For the auction that is, don't worry I'll pay for the forgework." she says reassuringly. "It'll be pretty easy. I'm sure you've made tons of armour suitable for enchanting, so I'll leave the details to you. Like I said, I'm looking for a frame for a large sign, like... about the size of a video game banner!" Fuka explains, holding her arms wide. "You know, the sort of thing that overlays a fighter in a RPG, giving their base attack, defense, HP and stuff. I'll take care of the enchanting for it; all I need is the framework and the backing that'll support the engraved rune structures. Anything you can add to make it look more like a video game banner is awesome, but most of the heavy work's going to be done with light patterns so don't get too carried away!"
Uta

"Thanks, Miho!", Uta beams to the Salamander, and an equally cheerful "Thanks, Fuka!" is sent Sylph's way, because of the compliments for the wibble face. "Been working on it. Seems to be effective."

The 'shop talk' has Uta keep silent and quiet. She's no smith, nor an enchanter. But she can, in the meantime, write up all the needed appointment details, possibly chimming Gwen to set up a session to brief and prepare Miho for the event...

Miho nods once to Fuka "Fine get me the details and I'll get to work on it and I presume make it quick?" She notes for a moment before eyeing he dog petting him. "I should get to work then."
