Lost Thoughts I: Resurrected

Twenty four hours. Twenty four hours have passed since the death of the Adventurer's husband in Alne. The counter has passed down, even with its disfigured and bugged looking display...

Until finally, they resurrect at the Temple in the City of Beginnings. His wife waiting for him.

The man looks confused as she hugs him, pressing at her shoulders, pushing her away.

"Who are you?"

Carmina Gadelica - Church

There's the subtle sound of a hymmn sung in the beautiful church of Carmina Gadelica. The place is fairly small in and off of itself, with just a few stained glass windows streaming in light from the outside. Many of them hitting exactly onto the alter that stands near the back.

An early-to-middle aged looking young woman with black hair lets out a sigh of relief as the glisten of light appears, suggesting someone's respawning. From a beautiful white spark at the center, the form grows outwards in red light, until there's a spark of light-pearls that leave the man standing confused in the midst of the church. It almost looks like someone barely waking up, taking a stumbling walked.

"You're safe!" The lady calls out, throwing herself forward at the man, grabbing him by the shoulders and tugging him closed - only for the man to put his hands to her shoulders, and trying to push her off of him. There's earnesty in his tone, with that furrowed brow, as he presses her away succesfully.

"Sorry, I... Who are you?" He asks her.

A response that makes the woman step back, confused, tears immediately jolting to her eyes from the shock at first. "What do you mean, who are you!? This isn't funny!" She tells him.

The man looks at her apologetically, but his expression still shows no sign of a lie. "Sorry, I really don't..."
Reika
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Reika heard there was a few more deaths, after her own that is. Up to now though it seemed without much consequences. But after this man woke up with missing memories, she received a call through PM shortly after. If there's something to verify, might as well get first hand testimony after all, right?

Fortunately she was in town for other business, so it doesn't take long for her to join in the church "What's going on?" It's not like a death is a major event after all when you can respawn... at least for players, Landers don't have that luxury after all.
Merek
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Merek makes a way to the place, his white-black attire on, while he takes the time to look around, seeing what people are up to. He doesn't involve himself fully while he takes the time to consider folk.
Proteus
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Some might say that people die when they are killed.

But in the game, that's not necessarily the case. Even when someone is PKed, they come back. Usually. Haseo might have Words about things like that, but that's not Proteus's story to tell. No, the Imp, of course, expects someone to return after being killed. Since Alne has no Church, the next most appropriate one would be the one in Carmina Gadelica.

So, with an eye on the timer on that tombstone, Proteus arranges to be at the Church when the timer would end. The Imp, of course, has an eye on helping Haseo out with his investigation.

What she wasn't expecting was that blank look on the man's face, the lack of recognition. The Imp looks at the interaction between the pair, and blinks, her tail pausing mid-swish to point the tip directly at the man. "What?" She mouths quietly to herself, and tilts her head. Thoughts of pumping the man for information are suddenly flooded out by the new problem presenting itself.

Quietly, she approaches the pair, hovering at a short distance to see what happens next.
Mikage
Carmina Gadelica - Church

The attack had reached enough lips to have caught Mikage's attention. Enough so that she made a point to come to the Church in the aftermath. She had seen Reika's rebirth, and since then there had been others, but it is still a point of curiousity. So, she had taken up a place against the wall of the church, making sure to give others plenty of space.

When the man, finally, appears, she moves a little closer, if only to be within ear-shot and hear what is going on. She had been here more to find out more about what happened that lead to his death, but the exchanged words have her immediately glancing over at Reika. Afterall, she is the only other person that Miki knows personally who had been through this.

"It felt a little disorienting when you came back, right?" She asks, "Maybe give him a few minutes."
Shiruba
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Word of other deaths had gotten out. Guess even in the virtual reality the only thing to travel faster than a peco is bad news.

Shiruba was one of the people that happened into the church shortly after Reika's revival, so she's come to around to check out this new occurance. There was just something about the reports of that weird tombstone that had felt... weird.
Count V
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Rumors of the peculiarities of deaths have been filtering through the grapevine for some small while now. Count V, who has more than enough acquaintances to hear this and that, has been interested in witnessing a revival. The fact that they take a full day to occur is perturbing enough, but the details are of interest to anybody who has to live in this world now. That is a fate that they might one day suffer, after all-- or more accurately, very definitely will.

He has sat among the pews for a little while now, his staff laid out across his lap. The eye atop it blinks up at him, lazily. The Spriggan himself wakes up a little more when the hymns begin to sound, the light begins to shine. The entrance of Proteus catches his attention briefly, yellow eyes flicking towards his guildmate. Then they turn back to the light, and the man, and ultimately the couple.

Standing up, V strides to the outside of the pew, staff clicking along the ground like a walking stick. As curious as he is, he decides not to interject into the couple's circumstances just yet. It feels just a hair too early, so he ends up joining Proteus, halting near her with a firmer stamp of his staff than he had taken with his steps.

"Do you remember the Flash?" He wonders, in a whisper.

Gwen
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Gwen heard about another death recently, this one was in town. That was very alarming so she'd found out the time of the death counter and had made for the church around the time that the man would respawn. She is standing there as the woman looks at the man who tell his wife. Who are you? Gwen pales a bit at this as she looks at them for a moment she's a silent towering figure. She watches not wanting to but in just yet but there is a look of worry on Gwen's face and Shiruba would be easily able to tell.

"Shir..."
Haseo
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Haseo has been religiously hanging out around the area ever since the murder. Ever since he confirmed that it was in fact, the work of none other than Tri-Edge. Yet despite his investigations, he hasn't been able to turn up much. He'd have to wait for the victim to respawn. Assuming he respawns.

Luckily, it appears he does, and once the news reaches him, he's quick to make his way to the church. He wants answers. Unfortunately, it appears the man has no memories to speak of. He can't even remember his wife.

Logic dictates this is a lost cause, but screw that."Alright. Everyone shut the hell up. There were four people, you, a woman, Tri-Edge, and somebody else. We can sort out your marriage problems later, but I want to know, who the hell else was there besides Tri-Edge?"
Wynfei
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Wynfei makes his way to the church, having been told of the murder, but honestly with everything going on he forgot to check into things. He wanted to be here like he was when Reika woke up after her death. Still the monkey like Cait Sith is here, he moves around until he has a clear view of whats going on.
Liminality
Carmina Gadelica - Church

The man reaches out to the woman. "Your name, I can't..." He tilts his head. "I know we have been going around together." It seems something is coming back to him. "But I can't remember your name... I can't remember... anything about you. But I know you... right?" There is so much confusion in the man's expression.

The woman touches her hand to her mouth, trying to stop herself from crying in front of so many people. But at the same time, there's stress showing in her shoulders. It's clear she just wants to grab him and take him away. But the questions come. Haseo immediately calling out.

The man blinks, looking at her, then at Haseo.

"There was someone else. There was... a young lady, right?"

"Right. I think she had pink hair. We saw her running away from this Adventurer in the orange clothing - so we thought we're check out what was going on" The woman seems a bit relieved, with the man at least remembering her here. "It's okay, it'll come back to you. We were married in the real world."

"Married?!" The man asks, frowning. "No - No I think I would remember that. I..."

He shakes his head. "Look, there was this young lady with pink hair. This jerk was chasing her. I tried to stop him, but he knocked me down as if he never even lost any levels. Her then cut this girl up entirely... and she disappeared. But she didn't leave a Gravestone. I was freaking the hell out. But I guess I was too close, and he turned on me and just kicked my ass..."

"I can't believe a gravestone appeared for you, but not for her." She remarks to her 'Husband'. "I was so relieved."
Reika
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Reika nods to the known faces. She catches this part of the conversation though, and tilts her head. Memory loss? Selective it seems, if he can remember the events just before his death... but not his wife?

She stays silent mostly because Haseo asked it, but she stays nearby, hands in her back, seemingly thinking it over seriously. She hears about the 'pink hair', but she doesn't know who that might be. "Memory loss can happen due to shock, like trying to repress something traumatic..." But that still doesn't line up with remembering everything else. Is there something more?
Shiruba
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Shiruba turns to look back as Haseo comes barging in and yelling about something. "Whoa, slow down buster." Pause. "Who's Tri-Edge? Or what. That sounds more like a weapon name.."

Then the man starts rambling a bit, going on about how he doesn't remember the woman's name, or being married?! What, that's important. How do you forget something like that? That's a major life event. That's.. like.. a piece of the man's -entire life- somehow gone.

"Okay, this is getting weird." Shiruba slinks a bit closer to her 'big sister' Gwen, ears partially back and tail twitching like an anxious dog's... which isn't that far off. "I read a manga once about someone with amnesia, but it was nothing like this."
Proteus
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Proteus, for all of her faults, also seems to agree with Count V that it's a bit early to be poking into the pair's interaction. The stamp of the staff shakes her focus on the pair and draws her attention to the Spriggan, and she blinks at the distinctive and familiar sight of the Count. "Oh, V, you're here. I guess I should have expected as much." She smiles a bit under her hood at that.

The smile promptly vanishes at the mention of the Flash. "Yes. I remember it." She says, her tone heavy. "Do you think... that this might be something similar? I'm not sure..."

Of course, then there's Haseo, who has all the tact of a bull in a china shop. The Imp facepalms, grimacing under the hand as she looks over to the Count, then back to Haseo. "Do you really think this is the time for the direct approach?" She asks Haseo.

But then there's the issue of the man. He begins speaking again, and Proteus again observes, listening intently. "Hmm." She hums to herself, the play by play causing her expression to fall further. "This is getting more and more complicated by the moment."

Proteus looks to Shiruba when they ask their question. "Tri-Edge is a notorious PK. One who seems to have kept their power from before the Black Wave. A lot of people thought the being was a myth, but Haseo has been chasing them for some time." She shrugs. "If they still have that much power... Haseo, you're not going to beat them if you go after them like this."
Mikage
Carmina Gadelica - Church

It seems that Mikage is at least partly right. Some of the man's recollectons do seem to return, though the amount that is missing remains troubling. The idea of someone losing a relationship that is that important certainly has her concerned.

Haseo's usual charming personality has her drawing a bit closer to Gwen and Shiruba, likely feeling that they are a more stable force here than anything else. She nods her head, "Shiruba's right. You clearly have information we don't." Her brows draw in as she looks around taking in the man, his wife, Haseo and everyone else all trying to make sense of things.

Eventually she settles on Proteus since he is the first to give a bit more details. "They kept their levels?" After a pause, she murmurs to herself, "How could anyone escape the Black Wave?"
Count V
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I think..." V raises his left hand to his chin in a deliberately thoughtful gesture, "that it is worth considering. Enough deaths have occurred that the twenty four hour timer is a reasonably consistent quantity in the rumor churn. I think we can safely assume that it's accurate. This is the first time I'm aware of that anyone has reported memory loss this severe. I would suspect suppression of the memories if they were memories related to the attack itself."

"The Flash showed us what sort of damage could be inflicted through an ordinary computer system," He continues, "so I think it's plausible that a death within this system could cause such an effect. Whether that's actually what's going on or not... it seems premature to decide. But it's good to keep the possibilities in mind. Another possibility is that our 'Tri-Edge' has a greater range of unique abilities than previously expected, and one of them is to inflict memory loss instead of permanent death."

He lowers his hand from his chin.

On the topic of a PK who did not de-level, Count V cheerily says to Proteus, "That just means we'll need to get started again properly that much quicker."

His expression shifts to exaggeratedly gloomy to add, "Of course, my favorite leveling areas are lost, now..."

Haseo
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Multiple people ask who Tri-Edge is. Haseo just deliberately ignores them. Like he's going to take the time out of his day to explain something that's just going to ask them to ask more questions that he still doesn't have the answers to.

He's just scratching his head at this point in frustration. A pink haired girl? This guy wasn't Tri-Edge's intended target? What the hell is going on, and why is Tri-Edge all of a sudden deciding to be active again now? Even if hackers apparently didn't lose their levels like everyone else, it took months for him to hear anything about them again.

And that... Was only from Ovan. Maybe, just maybe, Haseo should be looking for Ovan instead of Tri-Edge. In the meantime, he needs to learn more about this pink haired girl. He'll spend time reassessing how he's gone about tracking down Tri-Edge later.

"So, anything else you noticed about the pink haired girl? Or am I done here?"
Merek
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Merek looks to Haseo while he questions the people, then he looks to those that are... Well, he thinks, seeming to be a little thoughtful about it all.

"I don't know. I didn't get the time to INSPECT her." The woman answers, before looking to her Husband, who is feeling pretty weirded out about this entire /crowd/ of people around him. Words about him remembering things again in the future. But he feels like he'd remember... married to her. Right?

But he played with her.

"When did we start playing together?"

"Yeah, I think I remember that." He notes, frowning, rubbing his head, seemingly getting a headache. "Oh hun, don't think too hard. You'll remember in due time." She promises him. "It'll be okay."

He looks so at a loss about the whole situation.

"No, I don't remember anything about the girl. I think she didn't shatter the way people normally do though. It's more like... he absorbed her into himself with this weird glowing device, after taking her to zero HP."

"Oh yeah, he had this weird... thing about him."
Gwen
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Gwen looks to the woman and then to the man, this is some seriously nasty shit and then Haseo goes hunting whatever it is and she looks at him it's a rather intense look.

"Wait? Tri-edge? I saw a few posts about some ganker by that name before? I thought it was just another edge lord or just a wild story."

She looks to Haseo for a moment "So you got a beef with this Tri-Edge? If they can gank in town that alone is a concern. Given your history? What did this guy do? Or is this just the one PKer who got away?"

She now looks concerned at the couple for a moemnt but what can she do?

"It really is Proteus, and if this Tri-Edge didn't get leveled down? They could paste an entire raid right now on their own."

She looks to the pair for a moment "Do you two have a place to go?"
Shiruba
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Shiruba ohs softly when Proteus explains a bit. She never ran in the sort of player circles that ran into PK types. "He sounds like a troll," she mutters, as the best term from the younger days of the internet she can think of to use. "An.. unfairly powerful troll." If he didn't get powered down like others, that could be a really big problem if he turns up around here...
Reika
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Reika listens to the part about Tri-Edge "But does that description match at all? Couldn't it be someone else?" If they didn't lose their levels that is concerning though, it'd be tough to stop them without a small army, if not impossible even. She knows enough of the game to understand that a few levels make a difference after all, so can't imagine how a few dozens would do.

"If you need my assistance to find and stop them, I'm up to it. Let me know." She mostly says to Haseo, but lets him handle the interrogation. They really shouldn't gang up on the respawned player after all.
Wynfei
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Hearing the name Tri-Edge, but for now he puts that on the back burner for now. He watches the man as he has totally forgotten who his wife is. He isn't liking the aspect of dying. Shaking his head, he walks over to where Gwen, Proteus and Reika are, "Hey, how're you two doing?" he asks.
Kaydon
Carmina Gadelica - Church

If they didn't lose their levels, Kaydon would like to know why. The were fang has been sitting nearby, just listening in for a while. Trying to piece together the information he can. A PKer without the same lower level as them is bad news for everyone.

Even the few he's run into so far that have just been idiots kidnapping people because they can't just log out isn't unexpected, but they were still lowered down and had to use numbers to their advantage. This felt different though. Intentional. But he was no detective.
Proteus
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I have no idea." Proteus shrugs in response to Mikage. "But believe me, I'd love to have known that. Maybe we'll find out in the course of the investigation."

Her attention is drawn back to V, whom ponders the ponderous. "You're right, but the memories lost aren't those of the attack, so it can't be a direct effort of Tri-Edge, who would have everything to gain by keeping their nature secret except for their calling card." She folds her arms, tapping a foot as she thinks about this herself. "You're not wrong though. At this point, I would believe almost anything. But we don't have enough information to know for sure..."

She taps her chin at that. "I suppose what we'd need to do is watch for more incidents. This is hardly going to be the last time Tri-Edge strikes... Or even other PKs or simple accident. We can start drawing some conclusions from that."

There is another shrug at the mention of the loss of levelling areas. "I know. It's incredibly frustrating. The spawns are all completely different and the enemy AI isn't acting the same way anymore."

More information comes up. "... Absorbed her?" Proteus perks at the mention of the new information. "With a weird glowing device..." She looks over to the Count. "That might be an explanation too. Tri-Edge might have a way to absorb other people's EXP somehow in the process of killing them, which might be why they're so much more powerful."

There is a snort at Shiruba's commentary. "A troll wouldn't do this. Trolls want to make you mad. Get a reaction. This is something worse." Wynfei approaches, and Proteus waves to the fighter. "Hey. I'm doing fine. You?" She asks, then gestures to V. "Count V, this is Wynfei, part of the Ezzo escape group I was with. They're pretty good. Wynfei, this is Count V, a talented member of our guild." A pause, and a little smile. "But I repeat myself."
Haseo
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Listening to people speculate about Tri-Edge is really annoying. Of course they only started caring the moment things start going extremely fubar. It's whatever though, it's just how people playing games are. Why would you worry about some internet forum legend if it never affects you and seems implausible.

"Pfffft. Yeah, sure, 'beef'. If you wanna go with that." Haseo just rolls his eyes dismissively at Gwen like the shitty young adult that he is, as he's more interested in listening to the description of how Tri-Edge killed the mysterious pink haired girl.

"Drained her data into him...Huh..." That description doesn't bode well. In fact, it sounds suspiciously similar to what he's capable of doing, though so far he's only ever done it on the infected monsters. Which means if he uses it on players it might just...

The imp just shakes his head, it's too early to speculate, even if the information sort of lines up.
Mikage
Carmina Gadelica - Church

The Ranger nods her head, letting her hands rest on her belt as she continues to take in the information being offered. There is so much to unpack here and not everything really makes sense without a bunch of background that the others seem to have. "So... it's possible that whatever this Tri-Edge did may be why we're seeing this memory confusion?" She has far more questions than answers.

"And we don't have any idea why he might have targeted this woman, do we?" She glances towards Haseo, then right on past him. He isn't exactly the best source of information, so she looks at Proteus and Gwen. "Was he known for targeting any particular sorts of people? Maybe we can find out more about this girl and who she was?" There has to be more information out there, even if she was a stranger to the man and his wife.
Liminality
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I... don't think I lost any XP?" He pulls up his character window, taking a moment. "I guess I didn't really track my exact number, but it doesn't look much different from last time, I don't think." He notes upon having overheard Proteus' comment. The two then turn towards Gwen and then awkwardly at one-another again. "I guess we can... find an inn for two." The lady remarks. "Seperate rooms." The man then notes. "I... need some time." He explains. "Oh hun, take all the time you need."

The two look towards the others then for a moment, before subtly trying to start sneaking away from all the questioning players.
Count V
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I suppose we might be able to set up stake-outs of PKers, if we can identify a cluster of them that is reasonably safe for us to shadow..." Count V says, probably to Proteus but it's hard to tell if he's just thinking aloud.

Regarding the leveling areas, he says, "It's less that the spawns are different, and more that I liked those places. There is a certain magic to the places you cleaved close to, you see. And most of mine, well... Ezzo didn't fare particularly well, did it?"

Upon introduction to Wynfei, Count V tucks his staff underneath his left arm and bows theatrically. He rises again with a broad, easy smile, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Wynfei. I think that I'm doing well, considering the circumstances. Pardon me a moment--"

He slides forward towards the couple, untucking his staff and bringing it down lightly across their path of departure. Still wearing the same easy smile, Count V puts himself in front of them for a moment, withdrawing his staff. He gestures with it towards the man, "Sir, though it may be uncomfortable, these are exceedingly interesting times. Husband and wife or no, separating from your partner is unwise. Think of it as... a business trip."

Count V withdraws just as abruptly as he interjected, returning to Proteus and Wynfei. Clearing his throat, he nods towards Wynfei, "And how might /you/ be doing?"

Wynfei
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Wynfei smiles to Proteus and V, "Nice to meet you V." he says. He looks over to Gwen, then back to Proteus, "What guild are you with if you don't mind me asking you?" he asks her. He looks to Mikage, "Hello." he says to her. He looks over to Reika, so many people he knows now. He rubs his face a little bit, he seems to rock back in forth on the balls of his feet, his tail sways behind him.

When V introduces himself, he shakes his hand. "Just call me Wynfei, not Mr. Wynfei. Makes me sound old which I'm not." he laughs. "As for stake-outs, that may be a good idea, I don't like bullies and PK-ers aren't what I'm going to call friendly." he says to them.
Reika
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Reika looks over to Wynfei, frowning slightly as he's... doing small talk in the middle of this conversation about PKers? She's not sure she understands this.

Everything's fine as you can see, except for those people, and potential dangerous murderers... I wonder what that PKer was after in the first place." The fact that one person didn't get a tombstone is concerning as well. Is there some condition that leads to a permanent death?
Proteus
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I guess we could look for other ones. That's what Haseo was doing, after all, before the Black Wave. Cutting through all the PKs with that whole 'Terror of Death'... thing." She says, smiling once again. "Engagement is another problem, though. This is absolutely not a case where we should be bulling ahead." She says, with a Significant Glance at Haseo. "I really would like to not lose one of our primary DPS at this time."

Proteus goes quiet at the mention of what happened to Ezzo. "... No. It didn't fare well at all." Her head tilts down, the hood shading her face even more as she continues. "But we will be back. And we will find out what happened. This exile is only temporary."

She looks to what V is doing, then away. That no longer really is a concern of hers. "If you want to join us on the hunt, feel free, Wynfei. Always good to have another with us."

Reika asks about the permanent death issue. "That's the thing about Tri-Edge. Apparently, if they want you dead, you die. That's what makes this so crazy. No one knows how they do it or why, and this is apparently not the first time. Before, you could probably just explain it as character data being messed up, but now..." She shrugs. "It could be anything, considering we can't even leave the game."
Mikage
Carmina Gadelica - Church

The greeting from Wynfei is met with a blink of surprise, perhaps because she wasn't expecting someone to make introductions just now. Still, Mikage inclines her head. "Hi." Then, her brain catches up to her and she offers, "Mikage. I'm familiar with some of the people here, but some are new faces."

She doesn't seem interested in harassing the poor couple who see to just want to escape the questioning, but it might be better to speak to them later when things have calmed down a little bit. Instead, her attention focuses on those who seem to have the real knowledge here. "So, maybe we should start spreading the word to keep an eye out for this person? At least if people know what he looks like, they might be able to attempt an escape?"

The idea that if they want you dead, you die, sends a shiver down her spine, causing the Ranger to tuck her hands into her pockets. "Maybe best not to earn his ire, regardless, at least until we come up with a plan to deal with him."
Liminality
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"She's not my wife." The husband answers with a conflicted look in his eyes, which gets him a pained look from the woman. It's clear they aren't looking to just split up and ignore eachother. But they are also very much uncomfortable with the situation. "We'll keep it in mind. Thank you." The woman answers, respectfully bowing to Count V.

There's a few more bows from the two, before they depart, leaving the people in the Church just... guessing. They got the information. But now what do they do with it? Who is this Tri-Edge that can apparently just... kill someone?
Shiruba
Carmina Gadelica - Church

In the end Shiruba just rubs her forehead with a hand. "Just what we didn't need, another layer of mystery on top of the layers of mystery."
Gwen
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Gwen looks to the two as they start trying to leave, she'll let them go. They have some hard times to deal with, though he may try to keep tabs on them as she inspects them both to make note of their name before they depart. With that over, she'll look to the other players.

"Maybe but a lot of PKers are out there and honestly most people PVP once and a while. Least where I used to game before here."

"Still the ones who might still get off on ganking would be worth keeping an eye on."

She notes to Count V as she looks to Wynfei and then to Proteus.

"How is the Plants PVP crew handling things? Think someone might know something? Yeah, it's kinda like some old urban horror story come to life."

Mikage brings up a good point.

"That should be something I think we should post a notice about to the alliances and our guilds. To think of someone like that ripping though my guilds newbies...like some kind of asshole space bee."
Count V
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"Of course." Count V says to Wynfei, bowing a little a second time.

In answer to Proteus's concerns, V scratches at the side of his head with the ornamental wings atop his staff. He seems about to say something, but then clams back up immediately. Instead, he addresses the fate of Ezzo, "I don't doubt it. The fall of Ezzo aside, I really would like to see what kind of differences the changes made otherwise. Making the place 'playable' from the start was already an exercise in trial-and-error and strategizing."

"It's a shame that it was overrun the way that it was," he continues, "because I think it would be one of the best places to begin a city for and by Adventurers."

Count V meets the man's insistence with a light nod of acknowledgement, but it's clearly tuned to validate him /just/ enough not to sting the woman. Once they've turned away, he fires both of them a friend request-- unsure either will take it, but suspecting that it's worthwhile to knock on the door, at least.

To Gwen's question about the guild's PVP crew, V offers an exaggerated full-arm-raising shrug, "Who can say?"

Proteus
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Proteus looks like she's about to answer Gwen one way, but when Count V interposes with his own style of answering she pulls back, with a shrug. "You have to protect your own. If you're not prepared to defend it, you don't get to keep it. That's just how things work. Past that... Who knows?"

She does chuckle a bit, however. "Space bees, huh? That's an evocative term."

Mikage gets a nod. "Feel free to try to get as much information as you can about Tri-Edge and spread it around. If we all know what we're looking for, then we can deal with things accordingly. And by deal with things I mostly mean 'see if we can get the guards to deal with them' because like hell am I going to face down someone who can permakill me."
Gwen
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Gwen looks to Count V for a moment and replies to him.

"Fair enough."

She nods

"Right that's what players like me are for in a guild like Crescent Moon. I know to prepare for war, right?"

She grins more.
thoughll see what I can dig up on this, though we likely want to hit up Shiroe though if we do? We should have something to offer in trade if we can. I rather not come off as a beggar. As for the image yeah? It is quite the image isn't it?"

Gwen thinks for a moment.

"I think policy for now with Tri-Edge? Is to /run/ for the moment."
Wynfei
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Wynfei is quiet as he listens to whats going on around him. He watches the player who comes back with loss of memories and the woman with him leave. He studies them for a long moment as they leave. Rolling his shoulders a bit he turns and looks towards the others.

"Well there are places where PVP was ok, but right now, we don't fully understand how things fully work now. Yes we can come back which is a saving grace, but we can't just have players out there just killing Landers and Adventurers just for fun." he says. Shaking his head a little bit, he lets out a sigh and looking back the way the man and woman just left, he's utterly confused by what happened to him.

He looks over to Gwen, "We run from Tri-Edge?" he asks her. He isn't a fan of bullies and if that is what they are to do, he will but if that option is taken from him, he will fight.
Count V
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"An anomalous player killer, with a history of 'deleting' characters that he kills, has killed a player in the current circumstances... after murdering another, unidentified party. When that player revived, they returned without an extremely important memory." Count V says, swaying his staff back and forth as if conducting some unheard music.

"Remember today," He advises, "write it down, mark the calendar. Whether as a mere baleful curiosity or a prelude to something worse, I think we can safely say that this incident will be a black mark on our history."

Swinging his staff behind his back, he turns away.

"Be seeing you, all." Count V says, flashing a sly grin over his shoulder before striding on out the Church doors.

Mikage
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"I'll see what I can manage, though it seems like your lot have more of a history than we do." Thoughtful, Miki lightly leans her weight from one leg to the other. "I'll pass the warning along to my guild as well. We might not have as many newbies as some others, but it's a good enough warning."

With a nod of acknowledgement, and at least some idea of what might be going on, she pulls her hood up and starts to make for the exit of the church. Time to go sniffing around for some information.
Reika
Carmina Gadelica - Church

Reika thinks about that, listening to Mikage "Then maybe I can do something about that information gathering." She does have lots of contacts as an idol, maybe it's time to see what she can use it for. Not to mention, stealthy ninja might be able to get something if she keeps her eyes peeled.
Wynfei
Carmina Gadelica - Church

"If we are going to look for them, I can assist as well. I've been working on my tracking skills, so if that is needed, I'm here to help." Wynfei says as he offers his assistance in this.
