Duty Session 27: Spinner's End

    The white bunbun woman in her wisteria kimono bounces along beside Jazuhanzu. "Look, sure spiders are well... ehhh not fun... but we're gona go kill them and then we'll get loot and maybe we'll get some stuff where I can get new armor or weapons put together and we should get some XP. I mean look at the upside, XP and loot... that's the upside to spiders." she says nodding her head as they walk towards the mine the Lander directed them too. Not being quiet at all about heading off for adventure... and loot.

"Here we go again," groans Jazz.

She is not happyt to be here, but she's going along because she said she would and, really, she's going to need a little money for her upcoming projects!

"I hate spiders, I hate spiders, I hate spiders..."

    Misa has been summoned!

    Thankfully it does not take a dog with a mystical dagger to do so. Just a request for help to fill out the party due to low numbers. Misa doesn't look particularly concerned about the fact that she is going off to kill some spiders again. But then not much breaks through Misa's poker face.

    The scythe-wielder walks along with the others, having just caught up to them. Her scythe rests over her shoulder, blade folded in for now. She glances at Wisteria, noting her bounciness, cautioning her, "Be careful not to bounce off the edge into a large chasm. There tends to be one or two in these mines." Yes. She would know.

    The PUG (pick up group) head into the mine. Wisteria smiles at Misa, her jagged razor teeth showing. "I'm not gonna bounce myself off a cliff, I'm no dumb bunny." she snorts at her own joke. Something has beaten them to spider stompping. The fleshtoned creature blocking the path and chewing bones, turns towards the party. It's red eyes taking in the group.

Misa joining them is a welcome enough surprise. Having worked with her before, in a very similar circumstance, she huffs a small laugh (which is of course entirely cute-anime-girl-soundsing) and she proceeds to head towards the mine becasue that's what you do.

Then, well... they come to the horrible beast out front and she just sighs. She pulls the purple-and-pink feather duster out from her coat interior and the tip of it swirls with a dark nimbus of energy. "...welp, here we go again," she groans.

    Misa looks at Wisteria briefly. They'll see if that's true...

    The group comes across the first challenge of this quest. That strange monster that blocks their path further into the mine. Misa raises her scythe, the blade snapping open menacingly. Is she going to once more strike the beast from range with a swing of her scythe?

    Misa chants out, "Heroes of legend, bless us with your song of power." She taps the bottom of her scythe against the rocky floor. Musical notes of colourful light spring up around Misa, an appropriately epic melody playing. Buffs appear in the views of Jazz and Wisteria, indicating a boost to their attack.

    Wisteria laughs seeing that there is some combat. This is what she needed, this is why she wanted to go 'do a dungeon'. She drops into her stance, and with a fast draw, the katana flashes, a curving line of fire slashing out across the beast. The buff giving her flame more oomph and the dark magics of the maid combining with her strike leaving the beast dead and clearing the way.

    Wisteria smiles "See, this is what we needed. Totally." she says brightly and leads the way down the tunnel, tapping her toes occasionally, her long ears turning and twisting as she listens to echos. The sounds bouncing around. She stops when the tunnel ends in water. "Really... swiming?" she sighs and looks down. "Lets go."

"Oh no," says Jazz at the water's edge.

"Water. How terrible." She's not being smug. She actually seems genuinely unenthusiastic about it. Her hands go up to the sides of her neck where her gills plainly sit, though obviously they're not in action at the moment. She put her feather duster back in her coat so as to avoid it getting wait. She toes the water's edge.

"You know, having gills feels weird. I've only been in the water once, really, since I got here and I nearly blacked out since I had no idea how to breathe through them. Kinda weird that my body actually insctinctually knew what to do better than I did. LAnd then it's like... breathing in a lot of ice. You'd think I'd have, like... ice resistance or something..."

    Misa watches as the other two manage to defeat the creature. With her help, of course. It's why she's here. Just imagine if they hadn't requested some additional support! The poor newbies.

    They come across some water. A lot of water. Misa raises an eyebrow, "Just like the rat quest... It's not quite the same. A nice touch." Misa brings up her menu, briefly unequipping her scythe and sending it back into her inventory. She doesn't want to try diving with it in hand.

    Misa turns her head to listen as Jazz starts... And then doesn't stop. Misa stares for a moment, before turning as Jazz is mid-sentence and diving into the water. She manages to do a decent enough job of swimming to the other side. And it doesn't even require gills!

    Wisteria looks at the water, looks at the maid, and steps back when Misa just dives in. "Well here goes." she says and pinches her bunbun nose closed, closes her eyes and jumps in with a splash. Down down down goes the samurai dressed rabbit. Like a stone to the bottom she goes. Swimming does not seem to be a caerbannog skill.

"...hey!" says Jazz as Misa just jumps in.

She lets out a sigh and then follows the pair of them into the water. As it darkens, she lights upw. Many of the spots and markings of her body have faint, bioluminescent qualities. Yes, she's as Glow in the Dark Jazz.

It does not take her long to deduce that Wisteria is in trouble. A flash of light sinking to the bottom, in armor, is enough. She takes a moment, then swims down towards her, seemingly in no great struggle, and proceeds to draw a great bubble of air from the surface down towards the hapless bunbun, who has it shoved over her. Suddenly, she can breathe again!

Jazz pauses for a moment, and then proceeds to roll the air bubble through the water, like Wysteria is some unfortunate, soggy hamster instead of proud bunny warrior. It's a bumpy ride, but hey, sat least she can breathe in the bubble, right?

Eventually, Jazz emerges from the water on the other side, soaking wet, and pulling Wisteria with her when the bubble collapses and unceremoniously deposits the soggy were fang on the water's edge.

Breathing hard, she manages to rasp out, "That was less than fun."

For her. It was probably even LESS fun for Wisteria.

    The party finds themselves at the end of the 'swim' in a square chamber. Lots of dust and spiderwebs that seem to have been moved about and disturbed recently. There isn't a way for the party to leave but for the way they came in. A hole in the wall and some odd rock formations the only clues for the bedragled swimmers to try and susout an escape.

    Misa is waiting for the other two on the other side of the swim.

    She's already dry. How did she do that? It's a secret!

    Misa nods to Jazz as she manages to resurface with the sunken bunbun, "Nicely done." They're already pretty short on party members. Losing one would be annoying.

    Misa glances around the room a little. She walks around its edge, looking. Finding no other way through. There's a hole. And some rock formations. Misa hmmms... She equips her scythe once more. And with a swing, she stabs the pointy bit into the hole. She twists and turns the scythe as she digs it into the hole... Surely this will work!

Jazuhanzu pulls out her feather duster and sweeps at some of the dust absently.

There is a pause.

"... wdhat the hell am I doing!?"

    Wisteria shakes herself "Swiming... caerbannogs are NOT made for swimming... thanks Jaz." she says and starts looking for a way out. Then there's the thwack and scrape of a scythe.. in a... hole? Then Jaz is tidying up... dust and torn spiderweb drifting up into the bunny's nose, her loud sneeze sends her staggering into Misa. Causing the scythe to pop free and thump Jazuhanzu in the rump. Sending the maid staggering into one of the weird rock formations. Suddenly, lack of floor sends the three girls tumbling down a chute and into a tunnel full of thick spiderwebs. Everything is sticky... and there are egg sacks and sleeping spiders.. JUST THERE.

    Jazz asks what the hell she is doing. Misa glances over in her direction and wonders, "Raising your maid profession level?" She understands that sweeping is a good means of doing so.

    Distracted as she is by Jazz's sudden desire to sweep, she doesn't notice Wisteria come staggering towards her. Misa is bumped, losing her footing and sending her scythe swinging into Jazz.

    Soon the group are falling, falling, falling.

    The roll to a stop amidst sticky spiderwebs. Misa groans quietly as she stands. She then goes still as she sees all the eggs... If they start folding open from the top and a big fleshy spider-like creature crawls out, Misa is sooooo out of here.

    Actually, better yet. Misa sweeps her scythe out to the side, the blade beginning to glowing. Misa then takes a step forward, pirouetting, spinning her scythe up over her head and then down around her in a full circle. Flames rush out from the swing in all directions, sweeping out across the eggs. Burn, suckers!

"...very funnjy. That's what I get for not really paying attention..."

butn then there's the sudden dropp and she lands on her back, admist the spiderwebs.

She groans, taking a look around, and then quickly decides discretion is the better pawrt of valor while Misa sets things ablaze.

"... Deepest ocean, grant me the grace of your abyss." Her face scrunchers up like she can't believe she's saying that, but the light around Jazz seems to diminish, the shadows deepen and darken as she slinks into them.

    Wist oofs as she falls on the ground. She's sticky, she's staring at the spiders on the ceiling. Then there is fire. Fire every where. "Light of protection, sheild and succor me." she says her fur lighting up with a soft glow that repells the spiderwebs and the fire letting her get to her feet and use her sword to make sure the two guard spiders are dead as the webs and eggs burn. Once that's taken care of she nods at a tunnel that's been exposed. "On we go?" she says before heading in. A walk along some twisting mineshafts finally opens into a typical boss room, for a typical boss fight. "Oh yes, this is what I needed after yesterday." she says settling into her stance and letting the party get ready before the first gobbet, of venom from the huge spider, lands burning the stone. "Let us do this thing." she says to the other two women.

    Misa stands amidst the flames of the burning eggs. She looks just a tad satisfied.

    Misa is disturbed from her satisfaction as Wisteria calls them forth. Misa nods in response, moving to follow.

    Entering into the familiar cavern, Misa eyes the large boss spider before them. Last time she managed to deal a major killing blow to it... But this time she decides to continue supporting these other two.

    Misa raises her scythe in Wisteria's direction, chanting, "Melody of Echoes, Encore!" More musical notes appear around Misa, along with a haunting tune. Similar notes appear around Wisteria and once she acts with her magic, she finds it activating a second time shortly afterwards, doubling its effect.

"Ugh, acid!" Jazz groans, "I hate acid!"

Again, she wields her powers effectively... for others. She's busy making sure that the people who can actually hurt it, Misa and Wisteria in this case, are protected.

Of course, she's paying a little less attention to herself and gets knocked off her feet by a powerful swipe by spider-leg that sends her crashing into a wall, dazed and out of it mometnarily.

    Wisteria has been craving this all day, doing what she's good at and putting away all of her concerns. Her sword flashes free of her scabard, shining in the light. Then she feels the burst of magic empowering her. "Alright..." she grins showing all those razor fangs to the spider boss. "Earth hear me, and tremble at my coming." she announces, and then she's charging, that odd shuffle shuffle shuffle of a samurai's foot work. Only each slide forward of one large foot with it's zeta sends a cascade of stone ahead of her, the cavern shaking and quaking with her steps. The large spider stumbling and losing it's balance after it's leg connects with the Maid trying to tank.

    Then the caerbannog is upon the monster, sword flashing, steps quaking the earth, sparing with it's legs and slashing at joints under the buffing magic of Misa. Until with a triumphant cry she beheads the arachnid queen. Panting and grinning she starts the looting spreading the love around to the whole party.

    As the spider disolves and the floor lights up her expression turns a bit sulky "Level Ten? Blast... I wanted more dungeon time than this." pouting killer bunny... is every bit as terrifingly sad as it sounds.

    Misa watches as Wisteria charges the large spider, cutting it down with an effective display of swordsmanship. Not bad.

    Misa makes her way over to join the other two near the loot drops that appeared. Though when she is offered a share of the loot, she shakes her head, "You two could use it more than I." Misa has spent a fair bit of her time on the front lines of Aincrad Tower. The loot offered by this quest isn't particularly important to her.
    Misa shifts her scythe to rest over her shoulder before turning towards the convenient skyrim-dungeon-exit leading out from the opposite side of the boss room. She glances at the other two, "Shall we head out and turn the quest in?"

"Ow, ow, oiw," is what Jazz says from her position on the ground. She doesn't miss Wisteria doing her violent thing, of course, but she's sloooowly picking herself up and brushing herself off.

"Wow. That ... didn't hurt as much as it should have and it STILL hurt." She waves her hand, "You can have it. I already have enough spider-chitin that I don't know what to do with."

    Wisteria tosses the chitin into her inventory "Thanks, I'm sure I can work out a breastplate from this bit alone." she grins "Thanks for coming along with me, we'll have to hit more dungeons." she says "Lets get this turned in, and .. eat.." she says with much less enthusiasm "Guess it's apples and carrots again today... and maybe some crackers from a vendor... then at least it's SUPOSE to taste like crackers."
