A Progress Towards More

In which having just completed his project, Giganpor shows the results and reports to Shiroe among others in the New World Alliance.

It's the day of the voyage to Ninetails Dominion, and someone is probably not going, but desiring to show and give some hope that things can get done. That's lead to one wild ride on a Grunty by Giganpor.

Seriously, Grunties are unsafe for riding! Getting around by Pekko is safer probably! Or a regular freaking horse! That's lead to the red haired man making his way, looking disheveled and very much out of sorts towards the docks area as he looks for where the ship that's supposed to be leaving to Ninetails Dominion is going from.

That being said, he's kinda hard to miss. The over six foot tall avatar of his and the red hair stands out, not to mention the glowing blue cloak that he has on as he makes his way around the docks, probably in a bit of a hurry at that. At least it's hard as hell to mistake who it is for anyone who was there and paying attention on the Day of the Apocalypse with that bright blue glow about him.

The last few hours had been...Strenuous for the enchanter to say the least. With the first floor boss of the tower cleared, the aftermath was still on his mind. Truth be told the look on the Pooka's face seemed a bit more tired than usual, though even with his eyes being somewhat dreary he's able to spot Gig in the distance, and if he wasn't well...

<<I'm near the dock towards the bow of the ship.>>

The messaging system still had its perks. As Gig finally made his way to the dock he'd be greeted by a rather less flashy individual that had ended up becoming one of the Leaders of the alliance (even if he didn't look like one in the slightest). As he arrives he urges Gig to follow so that the two are a bit more away from the ship and out of the line of sight. "Sorry to keep you moving, but I know we're not the only ones near the ship. Figured you'd want to avoid having your surprise revealed too soon."

Giganpor makes his way over once he gets the chimlink, the glow quieting down. He looks a bit exhausted before he hits the 'clean' function in his menu. Not having had time to do so as he ends up a lot better looking. The giant of a redhead nods as he approaches.

"Thank you. I did not know if the others would be interested or not. Plus, it might be something we can offer in trade agreements. I remember the Dominion is heavy on the whole merchant bit." He says. The giant of a were fang is still breathing a little bit hard, at least until his mind catches up and he takes a deep breath for a moment before relaxing. "So, a bunch are heading for Dun Loireag and that hourglass?"

The news of that was not something pleasant, after all, and that was part of it. Giganpor looked annoyed that he couldn't go, but someone needed to stick back and make sure the newer players didn't try to go over.
Shiroe

Shiroe sadly doesn't seem able to have that kind of leisure to use the clean function. He's tired and there's not gonna be a lot to hide it, but at the very least he can still show a smile. "You're really underestimating your own accomplishment here. You might have been blacksmithing but at the very least you were working on something that was based in the system. You didn't copy and paste a recipe, this was something completely unique. Uncharted territory even. The fact you did this brings in a whole new world of possibilities that Adventurers never would have had access to prior to the Apocalypse." He pats the large man on the shoulder, probably being of the very few people tall enough to be able to do so without really having to overextend himself.

"As for trade agreements I think it's definitely something that might end up plausible. They might see the design of your shield and decide they want custom work done. I'm sure it'd be a big interest for both Kingdoms, Merchants, and Landers alike. I'm not sure how quickly word of the method would travel but I'm sure you'd be able to sell this type of thing higher than you could most shields in the same category as it. At the moment it's literally one of a kind." That was probably a lot of praise to give to just an uncommon shield, but that didn't mean it wasn't valuable in it's own sense.

At this point Shiroe also follows up on the question, "Mmm, it's the only one that's appeared so far that apparently is ticking down. It's possible that well...Just a theory, but apparently when we unlocked the second floor we triggered the countdown on some sort of event. The hour glasses apparently would fit in with the theme of the second floor as apparently it's a huge desert. Of course, we're not just going to investigate the hourglass but the land itself. If we wanna be able to negotiate with the Dominion we should learn a bit more about them as well. It could prove useful."
Giganpor

Giganpor nods, "True... but I am really not in it to make money. Just to make the world better for us." He says. Shaking his head, he seems to consider, "That's the kinda thing I'm glad I'm in Grandeur for. We do deals, but we try not to overdo it. I do wish I could come along, but I know that I'm needed here more than over there."

Reaching around to his hip, he pulls out the finished product. An off-golden colored plate that's obviously the same plates as was donated from Spinner's End. He probably had to be careful to get that coloring with the material, and it looks like he managed to burn a lot of the black off to make it. Not to mention kept ridges to make it more fierce looking.

"I will say I am glad you three donated the other plates. It took three before I finally figured out how to bend it into shape and fasten the straps and handle without fracturing it." He says. A frown is given at the shield. "It's odd, though... it's obviously a unique item, but there's no... special ability to it that I have found so far. My earth elemental gave me the feeling I shouldn't call it from the one test I did with it, so... whatever class or type of shield it is beyond a buckler... I imagine we can make larger out of more exotic materials. Maybe even do tower shields or the like if someone prefers those."

As Giganpor starts to pull out the shield, Shiroe's eyes start to look over the weapon, his appraisal skills kicking in ever so as it gave him a better look into the specs and parameters of the newly forged item. "Hmmm, I see what you're getting at. More than likely it is a unique item in that it's unique designed but like you said we were still using rather basic materials for it's construction. Couldn't expect too much with what we find on floor one. All I can tell you is to keep getting creative."

As he mentions their donations, he starts scratching the back of his head, holding a hand up a bit reluctantly as if to deny the claim, "It's fine, it's fine. It's not like I could do much with it for my profession as a scribe. I'd probably just end up selling it back to the Ikigai or something anyway so I'm just glad it was used for something worth while.

Anyway, I wouldn't be too stressed about not being able to go. I don't imagine this will be as interesting as a trip as you'd think. Besides, if what I'm thinking is the case we might need you and the others to get more gear prepared for us..."
Giganpor

Giganpor shrugs, "Eh... it gives me something to do at least. I'm just going to have to be careful of what I get hold of. There's a lot more to doing this than I thought, really. The blue points are all steel holding the straps and handle, for example." He turns the shield over to show where the points attach to the straps and solid looking handle. It's not the best handle, but still one of the better ones. More of the material that was used it looks like, and probably held together somehow.

He considers, then shakes his head, "Nah, seriously. I owe you guys for that one. I definitely plan on trying to pay you back somehow. Weapons, gear, or something to help along the way."

The mention of needing more gear has Giganpor looking a bit unsure there. "... listen, Shiroe. I hate to say it, but we need to learn more than some of us probably know. Outside of this world, I didn't know more than your average high schooler. But... here, with this? It showed me a lot of what I don't know. Skills that I had to pick up from watching and observing. I'm worried about the changes. A lot."
Shiroe

When Giganpor shows him the straps and the intricacies of the shield the look on his face shows curiosity... And also just how lost he was without any form of recognition of the armor forging skill. He does find himself smirking when he hears Giganpor keep saying he wants to repay him, "Just keep helping out the others. That's plenty enough repayment for now. Besides..." Shiroe starts pushing up his glasses ever so slightly, "I'm sure there'll be a time when we'll really need you." Wasn't this guy's name Villain in Glasses or something? Should Gig be worried about that for some reason? Who knows!

His attention gets brought back quickly however as he brings up the situation of well...Not knowing things. "Yeah, no one should honestly expect to end up in a situation where we'll need to make a decision on whether we try to adapt to our circumstances here, or try to change the very foundations of where we're living. Though if what you built is anything to go by, it should mean it's possible to create technology and the like the game wasn't originally designed for. The question will be whether we end up trying to use it or not."
Giganpor

Giganpor shrugs, "I guess that's the most I can do in this case." He shakes his head, "As for needing me... I hope that comes after I've regained a lot of my summons and levels." He laughs, "Don't worry. I don't plan on forgetting this sorta thing."

"But seriously. Part of what I'm worried about is we're basically in a pre-civilized technology era. I remember a school trip to watch an actual blacksmith once with my class. Another thing... I'm wondering how far this extends. Like you said, I have a unique shield. One suited to my style. I might have to not have such large hammers, but I can already tell that I could use this to punch someone with the edges, hit 'em in the face. Things that are unexpected and give that opening I need sometimes to do damage."

He looks thoughtful, "Cooking is obvious, but... I think what we might need to do is find new ways to fight as well. A lot of our old strength is gone. Our old items are gone that we relied on. And to be honest, I am not sure if we can enchant items now. It's not something I'm willing to try without a lot of materials. If we can't, however, that means we're stuck with just skills and artes. Which means if we stick to the system, you have things like cooldowns on the more powerful ones."
Shiroe
Carmina Gadelica Marina - Inner Square

"Giganpor..." At this point Shiroe seems a bit more stern, his eyes tired but he's at least trying to be reassuring in this moment. "It's good your thinking so far in advance, though I think you're worrying too much. As far as things like enchanting goes anything that appears to have been part of the system before still seems to work. It'd just be a question if we tried to create our own enchantments. As for the technology...

Like I said, your shield literally shows we can build things that weren't previously in the game. If that's the case it's definitely possible to build technology like back home. Eldertale didn't advertise it alot, but even businesses and the like would apparent use the game inorder to deal with business and the like. There's a reason we have so many players who're unfamiliar with the game. They were just using it for communication purposes. If the alliances think it's worth looking into, we could probably see what kind of occupations and engineers we have in the Adventurer's population and work from there. But for now... Let's just take it one step at a time, alright? If you can't do something at the moment, then don't. Just focus on what you can do. That's the best way to keep moving forward and not get distracted by the 'what if's'. Anyway, unless there's anything else you think that needs to be addressed I think the ship will be heading out soon. Think you'll be good for a while?"
Giganpor

Giganpor looks thoughtful, "Create our own... I wonder..." He shakes his head, "Not a good idea for someone who's not an Enchanter or big on the magic system, I'm sure to be going down that path."

He seems to consider, then nods. "I don't think there was anything else. Just let me know when you want to borrow it or drag me into the meeting so I can explain the process. I'd write it down, but it's better to describe the sensations hands on, I think. And I can bring the failed pieces with me to let them see how many attempts it took."

Giganpor rubs the back of his head. "I guess I am worrying about what if's too much. Probably like that hourglass you guys are headed for. If it's a boss fight, you might need more than you have with you... or worse, some big event."
Shiroe
Carmina Gadelica Marina - Inner Square

Finds himself smirking at that last part, "Right now we're just investigating it. We'll probably end up having more people by the time the hourglass ends up ticking down. As for now, think of this group as the scouting team. Also I'll be sure to keep that in mind. I'm sure both Nureha and Misa will want to have as full descriptions as possible should the information become public. At that time I'll more than likely have you present your findings there."

Just as he finishes speaking a hand goes to his ear. Clearly getting a notification of some kind, "Anyway, looks like the ship's getting ready to head out. If there's any issues or we do need those extra hands I'll be sure to call on you and that shield of yours. Hopefully we'll back in a few days if even that." With that said he gives a brief wave as he starts heading back towards the dock where the ship was docked. Maybe there was a bit more he could have said before departing, though, Shiroe never really did seem too talkative about things besides what he felt was absolutely necessary. At least that's probably the sort of vibe he'd give on occasion.

Giganpor gives a nod, backing away. "Get going, then. I'll be sure to hold down the fort as best as I can here." He gives a mock salute, and a grin.

"I imagine my next task is learning actual blacksmithing now. And creating good swords and weapons for everyone." He says.
