Tournament: Mikage vs Seliana

Round 2 - Tournament match between Mikage and Seliana.

Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

The early days of the tournament have come and gone. Now, nearly half of the combatants have been eliminated, meaning that those who remain are either skilled, or got here by means of dumb luck. Which of those has brought Mikage out onto the sands, is anyone's guess.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome back our first fighter of tonight! From the lands of the East, Mikage Yurei, the Were Fang Ranger! In her first round, she was able to trade some powerful blows, but will that be the case here tonight?" The crowd roars as Miki steps out onto the field, lowering her hood and raising a hand to wave into the audience.

Some of the anxiety she had had during the first round has ebbed away, though it is still there, faintly in the slight shaking of her fingers that only those on the arena floor might see. She draws her hands together, offering a bow toward her opponent, then rests her hand onto her sword, taking a deep, focusing breath, ready to face whatever might come of this match.
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Once again Seliana steps through the gate into the arena, walking with careful steps she looks around out at the crowd with ashen red eyes. She still wears her menu crafting black frilly dress, and her long grey hair blows slightly to the side in the wind.

As she is walking forward the announcer continues, "And next we have Seliana the Scourge! Don't let her small figure fool you, there is a lot magical power wrapped up in this little Were Fang! What she lacks in defense she more then makes up for magical offense! But how will she manage against another Were Fang? We will find out soon!!" The crowd cheers, and a very small section of individuals seem to have Duck themed banners that get waved around enthusiastically.

As Seliana nears the position she was instructed to walk out to she stops and stares across the field at the next tournament opponent, and then after a couple blinks she bows respectfully to Mikage. As her head comes up there are additional colors in her eyes dully swirling about.
Mikage

When Mikage raises her head, her blue eyes look across to Seliana with a strange sort of kinship. Perhaps it is because she is a Were Fang, but more than likely it is the fact that some people know when they are looking at their own kind. Though she chooses not to transform, word of a Gargoyle fighter surely would have reached her ears. Quiet, but respectful, she raises her sword in a salute.

Then the countdown begins.

<<FIGHT>>

Like in her previous match, Mikage is quick to fly into motion. The pale girl moves to close the distance between herself and Seliana. The blade glows faintly, as if it were charged with some kind of energy, wisps of it flickering as she lashes out with the sword, sweeping across the girl's path. Where the blade crosses, shards of stone follow, swept up seemingly from the sands and solidified into hard projectiles.
Seliana

As soon as the duel begins Seliana is in the process of raising her right hand to point forward, tiny pinpricks of multicolored light popping into existence around her, but Mikage was faster. The white haired girl launches into action, her sword technique causing sand to form hardened shard of stone that launch forward.

Seliana nearly has her hand raised, electrical energy flickering amongst the small orbs of light around her, when the shards of stone collide with her. Dozens of glowing red damage indicators appear along her torso as she is knocked back to land hard in the sand. A small poof a sand kicking up into the air.

Rolling to her front and starting to lift herself to her knees she stretches out her right hand, finally pointing in the direction of Mikage. Electrical arcs crackle between the tiny hovering lights around Seliana. The multicolored electricity sparks forward into the space in front of her finger, seeming to concentrate there for a moment, and then a blast of thaumaturgic energy cracks forth towards Mikage.
Mikage

Knowing that something powerful is coming her way, Mikage retreats her sword back to her side, the weapon swept through the air, trails of light following where the path leads. It seems to almost form a web out of those lines, solidifying into a shield before her which absorbs some of the impact. It isn't enough to actually stop the sheer force that impacts into her. The energy lashes over her arm, nearly causing her grip to falter, but she snarls through it, white-knuckled.

Teeth gritted, the Were Fang takes a couple of deep breaths. "Ow." There is a bit of smoke that rises off of her armor. Sword still glowing faintly, she takes a few steps back, taking the weapon and stabbing it down into the ground. Lines of light begin to extend from it, crackling along the floor and causing the ground beneath both of them to tremble.

Then, the lines seem to converge underneath Seliana, the ground giving way to a blast of intense white light which seems to lash upwards with enough force to hopefully answer some of the power that had been thrown her way.
Seliana

Seliana continues to climb to her feet after her arcane attack is unleashed, her long grey hair looking somewhat frazzled from her fall. Once she is finally standing she looks down with dull multicolored eyes to see the webwork of lights concentrating under her. In a monotone voice she comments, "What is this?" as she starts to spread her arms to her sides, but then the light erupts upwards, Seliana only a dim shadow to the audience through the bright light, as she lifted up into the air. Her HP bar dropping notably.

Then as she begins to tumbled back down towards the earth after the light fades, she again reaches out to either side, arms outstretched, and the motes of light suddenly transform into a miasmic mist that spreads out from around her, obscuring her from vision.

Then suddenly from within the mist several laser-like beams of coruscating colors shoot outwards in rapid succession towards Mikage.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

The mist that surrounds Seliana is certainly more unusual than Mikage's more straight-forward elemental magic. She has more of the druidic leanings, channeling natural magics from the world around her. Squinting into the light, there is a moment of shock when it begins to lash out at her, the lasers causing her to have to retreat, abandoning her sword where it lay in the sands.

Mikage is quick on her feet, but that series of dangerous bolts of light are enough to make her have to scramble. There is a cry of pain as one strikes her shoulder and another into her leg, causing her to stumble. The Ranger rolls on the ground, trying to avoid the worst of it, rising with her hands covered in sand, only managing to get into a crouch as she looks for some form of retaliation.

Without her weapon, Mikage is left to the nature magic at her disposal. "Alright..." She reaches a hand upwards into the air, fingers outstretched. Her hand glows blue, then the light shoots skyward, hovering above Seliana. Then, it seems to shatter into a series of crystalline shards. Ice. The magic had frozen the water in the air into shards of ice, which come raining down over the other Were Fang.
Seliana

The mist having dissipated Seliana stands still in the sand, her dress and veil rippling in the breeze. New motes of light continually appear around her as she stares at Mikage, her facial expression having remained still throughout the whole fight so far, although the dull colors in her swirling eyes seem to start glowing faintly.

Then the light that is above Seliana shatters into tiny needles of ice that rain down on the grey haired girl. Several of the shards impact the sand around the stationary girl, but many find their mark as new glowing red pinpricks appear on her.

Driven down to her knees by the impact she never lost eye contact with Mikage. Then moving her arms in wide arcs she claps her hands together, the orbs of light quickly flowing forward to concentrate in front of her hands in a swirling mass and then a gout of thaumaturgic flames pours out towards Mikage.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

There is a stark contrast between the two fighters. Seliana seems emotionless, lacking any outward sign of the impact of the fight, where as Mikage shows every sign of strain. Sweat beads on her forehead, her breath heaves in great heavy pants as she tries to keep up with the onslaught of damage being sent her way. She is still half-crouched, making them look more-so like mirror images of each other in that instance, across from one another on the battlefield.

Her blue eyes meet with Seliana's, but there is no way that she can match the other woman's look. In that instant, she knows that another powerful blow is coming her way, and there is a choice to take the more aggressive tactic, pushing for raw damage like Seliana... but no. Mikage has to fight her own way. Like two sides of a coin, she chooses the more defensive option.

Miki raises both hands up, giving a shout as water seems to be pulled from her own sweat and from the air around them, forming into a barrier around her. It wards off some of the flames being cast in her direction, but the impact still barrels her backwards a little in the sand, feet digging deep trenches.

One hand moves to her side, the lingering after image of damage beneath her fingers as she darts as quickly as possible on the sands, grabbing for her sword before sweeping the blade in Seliana's direction. There is still distance between them, but where the sword slashes in the air, a blade of magical energy is formed, the edges of it showing green magic. Where it impacts, vines begin to grow, thorns seeking to wrap Seliana in their coils.
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Slowly rising to her feet the lights around her seem to intensify and become more agitated as they start to swirl around Seliana. Magical sparks crackly around her, and in a mirrored fashion her eyes glow more brightly. Raising her hand to point once more, Seliana is suddenly snared by thorny vines that reach out and grab her limbs. Looking down at the vines briefly, she is apparently distracted for long enough to allow Mikage to close the distance as she rushes in with blade drawn to slice through her midsection, a bring red streak appearing and dropping her HP to the red.

Suddenly fireworks explode in the air as the duel ends, the crowd cheering widely - except for a very small group of individuals holding Duck themed flags. Large << WINNER >> text appearing above Mikage, and the vines snaring Seliana disappear as quickly as they came. The fragile looking girl falling to her knees, the lights around her winking out as the colors bleed out from her eyes leaving them their dull red once more.

After a moment Seliana slowly rises to her feet, first patting her dress to knock out some of the sand and then combing her hair with her fingers to straighten it once again. She turns to move over to Mikage and bows respectfully. "Thank you for the match." She says in a quiet and flat monotone voice.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

There is a tense moment after that attack, where Mikage is prepared for another of those powerful retaliatory strikes. Yet, there is a heartbeat. A brief few seconds. It doesn't come. She's so keyed up on the fight that it actually makes her jump when the fireworks explode above her. Blinking in surprise, Mikage steps back, breaths quick, only then realizing what had happened.

It takes a few seconds for her pulse not to be raging in her ears. Then, she turns to look at Seliana. "I don't think I've ever had a fight that intense before." Mikage offers her, then returns the bow, her white hair flowing forward in the process to cover her eyes. When she rises again, "I'm glad I had the chance. And I'm glad I didn't have to give away my secret." This part is spoken more quietly. Miki lightly shifts her hair with one hand, allowing the other girl to see the matching Were Fang tattoo on her neck.

"We should talk, sometime." She offers, then wipes an arm across her forehead, sheathing the sword to her side. Miki gives a quick wave to the crowd, then offers to Seliana, "Come with me? I have a friend who works as an alchemist. He usually has some healing potions ready after matches." She motions at her neck, then chuckles softly, "Just... don't tell him about that if you don't mind. I've got a wager going with him to see if he ever figures it out."

Of course, to the crowd, all of this is drown out by the roars of those cheering from the stands.
Seliana

Seliana looks at the tattoo and then back up, her own dull red eyes blinking a couple time. Finally she replies, "This is my first time meeting another." Then she looks back and forth between the two arena exists before gazing back at Mikage, "Alright. That's unusually nice." She says in a steady flat voice without much inflection.

Then Seliana checks the high neck collar of her dress, it was covering her own tattoo. "Alright, I won't tell." She simply says and takes a step closer to Mikage, ready to follow the other Were Fang. At the same time starts to continue to pat at her dress, knocking off more of the sand from the duel.
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Out of the sands, a little ways back through the gates, Cyrus is waiting for Mikage with a... cart. A small cart, mind you, but it's still a cart. Just large enough a smaller Peko could probably pull it. "Wonderful battle. I see you get a chance to use the poison potions this time." He remarks to her. Though he might just have missed it. The tall and regal looking Snow Leopard touches his cane to his hat and greets Seliana with a small bow of his head.

"Cyrus." He introduces himself, as he turns and starts rummaging in his cart. The sound of glass against glass echoes dully within the hall as he pulls out the typical looking red potions and offers each of them one. "This should help speed up your natural healing."
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Others might be bothered by the lack of inflection, but Mikage seems to just roll with it. She doesn't know Seliana so there might be any number of reasons for it. "Well, at least for me, this is friendly competition." The Ranger explains, making sure to peace-bond her weapon as they step off the field. Though weapons are common enough that most wouldn't blink, she does so mostly out of respect to Lander and Adventurer alike. "I don't hold any ill will towards anyone here. It's just a chance to meet new people and test out new techniques."

As Cyrus comes into view, Miki offers him a tired sort of smile. She really had pushed herself hard in the fight. "My hero." The potion is popped open, and she tips it back, taking a long drink before making a face. It does the trick, but the flavor... "Someday, you really need to figure out a way to make these not taste better." She sticks her tongue out in a playful way.

Then, to Seliana, she asks, "So, how do you do that thing with the light? I've never seen a technique like that before."
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Walking beside Mikage she looks back up as the white haired girl starts to explain her outlook. "I was in the desert investigating the calamity. When we came back to town I saw this tournament was on and decided to see what it was." She concludes as if this explained everything there was to explain. "I don't understand what happens to make the duels work." She appends on though it is unclear if this was a motivation for her to be there in the first place.

As Seliana approaches the dignified Cait Sith, Cyrus, she looks up with somber red eyes. Watching patiently as he bows in greeting before she give a small bow and replies, "Seliana." As she watches Cyrus rummage through his cart she rises a bit on the toes of her slippers to get a better vantage before settling down again once he turns to pass over the potion which she takes and thanks him in an even voice.

She slowly drinks the red potion, then continue to hold the empty bottle in her hand she stares at it a moment before looking back up at Cryus and holding the vial to him, blinking a few times as she waits to see if he wants it back. "How much?" she queries, but without the inflection it comes off more like a statement.

At the question about lights she is silent for a moment before replying, "It's been this way ever since the black wave." She then looks down at her hand which she now has palm up. After a moment dull lights leech back into her eyes and swirl, and then a few motes of multicolored light appear around her, though none of them actually above her hand. She looks over to one of the nearby ones. "It's everywhere.. Just it isn't.." she trails off. "Where does the light around your sword come from?" she instead asks.
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"Well, as soon as I figure out how to brew drinks, I should be able to manipulate the flavor." Cyrus expresses to Mikage as she tells him that he's her hero. "But until then, I'm going to see you sticking that tongue out each and every time, and that's worth it." He adds bemusedly.

He then tilts his head a little to the side and watches Seliana trying to get a better look at his cart. "Feel free to take a look." He offers her, before adding that; "The one you are offered is free. Any after that is a few copper. Typical market price." He explains.

"I'll take the bottle back though, I can reuse it after washing it." He does add to that. The youth doesn't ask about the lights, simply observing for now.
Mikage

"The Calamity?" Mikage asks, "I was there, too. Though it seems that I missed out on most of the interesting revelations from it." She admits, shaking her head, "Ended up eaten by the Sandworm, and had to carve my way out from the inside." She raises a brow, curious, "Did you find out anything?"

As for the duels, the other Were Fang just shrugs. "I would guess the dueling is some sort of code construct, but I don't really know. It was never my area of expertise." With the other two offering their names, she offers her own, "I'm Mikage. Not... that the announcer didn't make that obvious." She reaches to rub at the back of her neck, clearly a little socially awkward at times.

She twitches her nose once, giving a look at Cyrus, then rolls her eyes. Seliana seems to have her attention mostly, though. "Nature?" Mikage hazards an answer, "Can't say I'm totally certain how it works, but when I use water, air or earth magic, I can sort of feel the elements and they respond. As for light..." she reaches in and pulls out a pendant that looks to be made of some kind of opal that she wears around her neck. "This seems to be the source of that."
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Seliana passively watches the exchange between Cyrus and Mikage. Then upon receiving permission to take a look in the cart Seliana steps over and looks down into it, as her long hair starts to fall forward she moves one hand to hold it back in a practiced gesture. She gazes at the vials of various multicolored substances before straightening again and looking back up at Cryus. "Do any of these cure the tiredness or exhaustion debuffs?" She asks the noble looking Astrologian. Then after moment she continues on. "Or to see more clearly? Or that help you to understand things?" she drones on, seemingly becoming less specific as she goes.

Then turning back to Mikage she replies, "There was someone named Glass that was leading the sandworm to either the hero Adlet Mayer or the nomad camp. We think maybe the Lander hero. There was also a broken mirror left where Glass escaped into a temporary chaos gate, or something." She relays the bit of information that she knows without concern.

She listens patiently to the descriptions of the dueling system and then on energy types. "The lights, they change colour depending on what you do. Brown lights for earth. Blue water. But they blend together if you don't pick, like they haven't made up their mind." As her eyes swirl again she looks at the lights that appear. "I don't have all the colours. There are others around different people." She continues on flatly.
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"What?" He asks mock-defensively as Mikage rolls her eyes at him like that, giving her one of those patented smiles of his. They're not common, but they do show up when he is in a good mood. Certainly different than when she originally found him.

"I am afraid I haven't dabbled in the more unique ways of casting. I just make potions and throw them at peoples' heads." Cyrus admits, as the two girls talk on how their own skills seem to function.

He then turns to Seliana as she asks. "Hmm, I have created something that helps with the tiredness debuff. But exhaustion isn't something that can be removed like that. I do have something that helps you sleep though." He explains to her. "This one helps with seeing - well... it cures the blindness debuff and makes your vision a bit sharper. But nothing to help you be smarter. That's not a miracle drug I can help with at this time."

He then looks to Mikage for a moment, before he glances back to Seliana. "Adlet Mayer? You mean the Lander Hero? Yeah - I'm familiar with him from the lore reading. I think he's one of the younger ones, supposedly?" He's not a hundred percent certain.

"And I don't think a mirror can double as a chaos gate." He adds.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Lifting the bottle, Mikage takes another drink from it, continuing to scrunch her nose each and every time. It only takes a second long swig to drain it down, and then she offers the bottle back out to Cyrus, coughing slightly. "If they didn't work so well, I totally wouldn't use them. So gross..." Her blue eyes look between the two as Seliana begins to ask that series of questions, likely never having really dug into all the effects that Cyrus' potions could have.

"I've heard a little bit about what happened, but I hadn't caught anything about the Lander Hero being involved." She files that bit of information away, hrming to herself. "I've seen her before. Glass, that is. She was at the first calamity as well. I spotted her breaking away from the orc group that attacked up in Ninetails, but she vanished before I could catch up to her." Miki explains.

She seems to think a bit longer on the lights that Seliana describes, "I guess some of that makes sense. My sword glows different colors when I channel certain different types of natural magic through it. So I'm guessing it's a similar effect." With a motion in front of her own eyes, she adds, "Nothing so elaborate with the eyes, though. Though they do tend to flash whenever I'm close to shifting."
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

As Cyrus lists off the things that his potions can currently do she looks back over at the cart with a monotone hum. Then looking back at Cyrus "I will take two of the vision potions." Then as she pulls some coins out of her inventory and coins them in one hand she clarifies. "How much would that be?"

To Mikage she continues. "I'm told Glass has both Lander and Adventurer icons and seems to talk like she is confused about what people are. Everyone is a hero to her." Looking back to Cyrus she just looks at him with her impassive face, blinking a few time, and then responds. "I don't know. I didn't see myself but it sounded like the shard found might be linked to the portal that looked like a chaos gate. Some want to figure out how the gates work, but I'm doing other things."

Gazing back to Mikage, "My eyes?" she questions flatly. "Do they flash when I shift?" and simply blinks at the white haired girl. "Maybe it is similar to you then? But you seem to be very martial focused. I only deal with the magical." She considers without showing any visible change in expression.
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"I better be careful with that tell then, if we end up matched in this tournament." Cyrus remarks to Mikage as she mentions that her eye-color change isn't that elaborate. "Maybe I might get enough of a hint to spot your species before you transform." He muses with her.

The youth then grabs two of the potions which, ironically, look like they contain a black substance, and offers them to Seliana after agreeing on a reasonable price and taking her payment.

"Lander and Adventurer icons?" Cyrus raises his brow. "That's... weird. Immortal like us then, I guess?" He asks. He then touches his chin. "Hmm..." Pause. A shrug.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

There is a brief look of surprise when Seliana seems unfamiliar with her own unique manifestations of magic. "Your eyes sort of shift hue. Like a rainbow kaleidoscope effect." Miki explains, "I've never seen anything like it before, but I would guess it has to be tied to your magic somehow." The girl gives a thoughtful 'hmm'. "My abilities are kind of a mix. A hunter's martial prowess but with druidic magic. So it's a little of both."

"Yeah. Our Alliance can't really make heads or tails of the icons either. I think some people were going to look into it, see if any of the other Landers happen to have unusual icons." Mikage hesitates, then sheepishly admits, "I... sort of forgot to check. My mind's been so caught up with training and the tournament." She shakes her head, though, "I didn't see her teleport away, last time. She ducked behind a rock formation and then vanished. So I'm guessing she used a similar escape."

Glancing at Cyrus, Miki nods, "Shiroe has been trying to figure some of it out, but I'm not sure he's made much progress." She leans back against the cart, "I imagine we won't see her again until the next Calamity. Which means we're likely going to have to depend on Scale Emblem pushing up to the next floor of the tower." Her hand motions vaguely around them, at the arena. "Though they seem focused here until the games are over."
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

Accepting the potions with the viscous black liquid Seliana places one in her inventory before holding the other and gazing down at it. As she stares at the bottle the dull red in her eyes also bleeds away until there is only white left. Then a moment later the dull red seeps back into her eyes and she stores the second bottle in her inventory as well. "Thank you" she says, "I will try them out later."

Then continue to discuss Glass, "I don't know what the icons means. No one I've talked to does. But I more wonder where she is?" She turns to look back out the arena gate as another match is in progress. "It is like people are always disappearing to somewhere else." Then looking from Cyrus to Mikage. "Do you know of any way to track someone magically? Or maybe to see them at distance?" The grey haired girl clearly starting to get sidetracked by her own curiosity, which is curious considering the lack of any kind of enthusiasm coming from her.

She stares at Mikage mutely after she reveals that her eyes shift to rainbows then responds, "Like a rainbow kaleidoscope?.. That's curious.. I will have to find a mirror." She says this as she looks around the area, not immediately seeing anything that can be used. Seeming to having given up on the search she continues to listen. "I can sometimes see the lights around others, but they are like they are ghosts, they only shine when people use their powers. I suppose the lights you have are related to the skills you've learned from those paths.?" Though it is unclear if that is statement or question.
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"Hmmm. Must be a pretty big mystery if the Villain in Glasses is having trouble figuring it out. But then, we're going off of a very small bit of information. I heard someone went looking around for information on Glass. But other than probably visiting some glass-blowers in various towns, I don't think they had much luck." He explains.

"Hrrm, I do believe there are ways to track someone with Enchanting, if you can get an object on them. But I imagine the range of that is pretty low at our levels." Cyrus explains when Seliana asks about ways to track someone. "I haven't tried it myself. But I hear someone who kept losing their pet Peko finally attached some kind of seeking item on them." He snickers at this.

Dude, where's my Peko?

The young man then reaches into the cart, and pulls out a small mirror. "You can use this, as long as you give it back. Just don't scratch it. I use it for small detail work." He explains to her.
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"I don't know that any of us really understand the icons to their fullest. But the castle is usually seen on Landers. Both Landers and Adventurers have the I symbol. And only Adventurers have the wing symbol, until now." She explains. "Beasts like my pet lynx, Rama, have a hand symbol, and monsters have this weird chubby looking fanged critter symbol." She seems unsure exactly how to describe it.

Miki runs a hand through her hair, easing some of it away from her forehead where it has stuck with sweat. "I usually track by sight, looking for tracks or signs of motion, or I use Rama's nose." She explains, "I do know that there's a relic that lets you see long distances, though. An undine girl I know in Alne named Jazuhanzu has one. It looks sort of like an old school spyglass."

She doesn't seem to have much to add when it comes to the discussion of the strange woman from the Calamities, other than to comment, "She's not the only one who can seemingly vanish without a trace. We haven't heard anything about Tri-Edge in months, either. They have to be /somewhere/." Right?

Then, she seems to remember something, turning and reaching into Cyrus' cart, pulling out a waterskin. "Forgot I stashed this in here." She uncorks it, then pours water in her mouth, giving a satisfied 'Ahh'. "I can't sense anything like that, but I imagine that everyone has some pretty unique powersets. Yours is really fascinating."
Seliana
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"Enchanting? I will have to talk to some others then, I don't know anything about enchanting." She doesn't seem upset though, but she hasn't seemed to change really at all this whole time, a seemingly permanent frown on her features broken only when she speaks. As she looks up at the regal figure of Cyrus she responds, "Thanks you" flatly as ever.

When offered she accepts the mirror and holds it in one hand to inspect herself. She then starts to comb her hair with her hand again and lower her head to the side to pat out some sand caught in the flower decoration of her veil. After a moment of this she suddenly stops and straightens, then staring at the mirror her eyes start to take on their chaotic patterns as more colors bleed into them. After a few moments of this she looks up over at Mikage. "They are still just grey. Do I have to shift to see them change?"

As Mikage starts to talk about Tri-Edge Seliana also adds, "Or when someone dies, where do they go? They keep all their stuff and go somewhere. But where?" then she watches as Mikage fetches a waterskin from the cart and seeming to remember she still has the mirror she offers it back to Cyrus. "Or the Landers. Why do some stay when they die and become monster spirits? And where do the rest go?" Then looking back and forth between the two. "Where is everyone going?"
Cyrus
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

"I mean, I can probably guess at what the Wing icon means, based on the usual iconography." Cyrus offers with a vague motion of his hand. "Probably means resurrection in some capacity. But for all I know, it means we might just 'up and leave'. Free as a bird and all that." He explains, seeming like he's /largely certain/ on the whole resurrection thing.

"This game didn't exactly come with an instruction manual. Just... Landers who would teach you a few things, you know? Everything was just natural. Want to move your arms, you just... move your arms." He rubs the back of his neck, along the mess of his hair.

"But you are right. Tri Edge is probably somewhere too. Still haven't figured out what was going on with that whole mess." Cyrus sighs. "There's so many ways in which the rules have changed for this world." He steps aside a bit as Mikage goes for the water. "I was wondering why my cart felt heavier." He always seems to know when his cart feels heavier. And what is /in/ his cart. No doubt he knew /exactly/ that there was a water bottle in there.

As Seliana begins to mess with the mirror and claims her eyes are still gray, he side-eyes at Mikage. 'Chuuni' he mouths at Mikage. Then glances to Seliana.

"When they die, I think people just kinda are in the spot of the Gravestone? Probably. Until they get resurrected at the church." He remarks, letting that topic fly over and accepting the mirror back when offered. "As for the Landers, I think they just shatter like monsters. Some of them linger longer if they are important, before they shatter. I remember this quest in eastal where you kind of are forced to fail an escort quest to start the follow-up." He notes. "I honestly never really wondered about it. It's just... this world. I didn't really ask that question in the previous world either."

"Anyhow. It's getting a bit late. And I was hoping to make our reservation at the inn - before we lose our spot." Looking to Mikage. "Sassy is probably waiting for us."
Mikage
Breg Epona - Dragon Palace Arena

There is a quiet moment where Mikage all but stares at Seliana, and the fact she doesn't seem to be able to see the effect that everyone else does. Her eyes dart over towards Cyrus, and then back again. "Well, I can see them change. I wonder..." She doesn't really seem to have an explination for it, other than that this other Gargoyle certainly is a curious creature.

"I'm not sure. I haven't died in-game yet, but when Reika talked about it, she seemed to feel disoriented. She had no idea that time had even passed from when she died to when she was ressurected at the church." Mikage shrugs, tossing her water skin over her shoulder and giving Cyrus a wry look. She often snuck things into his cart. Sometimes including herself, or Rama. "I guess I haven't thought about it, too much. Though it might be worth asking some people at the church about their experiences?"

Then, Cyrus reminds her that they did have a reservation at the inn to keep. "Crap. Yeah, if we lose our spot, then we're going to have to join the camp outside the walls. I'd much rather have my floor space, thank you much."

Pausing she offers a smile to Seliana, "It was nice meeting you, and getting a chance to fight against you." She reaches out, swiping in the air to send a friend request. "If you ever need anything, feel free to let us know." Miki offers, then gives a nod to Cyrus. "Come on, can't keep Sassaral waiting. I hope she made pie tonight. I could go for a pie..." She chatters.

"I suppose that would be a plausible explanation for what the Wing icon means." She says in acknowledgement without really agreeing. "I never really questioned what the icons meant that much. I know people are more interested now because of Glass, but I still rather /find/ her." Then she looks up to the right, seeming to consider something as she stares into empty space, then back again. "Maybe.. I it would be good to understand them more.. What does capital I mean? Intelligent? But some of the monsters show intelligence.." she trails off in thought.

Then to Mikage, "Oh, people say they don't remember anything. But some people also say they don't dream, like they just can't remember." She looks over to Cyrus, "Eh.. You think they actually turn into the tombstone.." She pauses in though again before continuing "I.. will have to look into that.." She looks around at all the adventurers in the area. "I wonder if someone wants to volunteer.." She says a little ominously.

Then as the others prepare to leave she gives the couple a bow "It was nice to meet with you and talk." Then to Cyrus. "and for the potions." Finally she starts to poke at the air and sends a couple friend invites. "Goodluck with your reservation." She says still in a monotone flat voice before she turns and proceeds to carefully walk away.
