Contacts and Repairs

After their fight in the tournament, Mikage had found herself quite busy. Her next match came quicker than expected and then there was the need to travel for the hunter's guild quest during the Spring Equinox. So, upon her return to Breg Epona, she had reached out to Miho, to schedule a time to speak with her.

Now, Mikage sits at a table in the inn. The place is relatively packed, with many people still here as observers and fighters in the tournament. Sitting atop the table, she has a banged up sword, shield, and chestplate which clearly do not belong to her. Miho had seen the way that Mikage fights, and these simply do not match her usual gear. In fact, it looks more like tank gear.

Miho had had been contacted that Mikage wanted to talk to her about something. She'd managed to get the time to go meet up with Mikage. Her tail was swishing fdor a moment until she locates Mikage.

"That gear isn't yours is it?"

She moves to sit down as she asks this. "So what did you need me for?"

Mikage raises her hand to flag Miho over, through the crowd. As the Salamander approaches, she offers her a smile, shaking her head, "No. I don't tend to use heavy armor." She brushes her fingertips along the place where leather and fur meets along her own arms. "I tend to stick to animal leathers and furs. It's better for my more agile fighting style."

The Were Fang lays a hand onto the chest plate. "These belong to my friend, Xander." She doesn't elaborate on how they came into her posession, "I was hoping to see if they could maybe be repaired and upgraded. Something so that he's got a bit better defense for the next time he goes into a fight?"

Then, she unclips her own sword, which is peace-bonded at her side. "And, I was hoping to get your thoughts on my sword. I'm still fighting in the tournament, so I don't want to do anything with it, just now. But, I was thinking that it really needs a weaponsmith's touch to hone it at some point."

Miho bristles at the mention of leather armour for some reason, maybe it's due to actually being a smith in the world they came from? Who knows she says nothing but her tail takes a bit to come down from being ram rod straight. "Did he lose a game of mahjong or poker to you? I'll see what I can do on them. I can at the very least repair them."

She looks to the sword for a moment.

"Yeah anything that comes out of the menu systems going to need a lot of what's the western saying? TLC to get into proper form. I think can very well do something witrh this."

"I know, I know. It isn't exactly the most realistic, but of the base armors available in the game, the leathers have the best armor to evasion ratio." Though Mikage might not be a smith, she has at least some knowledge that the fantasy tropes don't exactly align with reality. "My chest piece is padded, but the leather does help since I use a bow. It protects my forearms."

She leans forward a bit, showing quite some measure of interest. "Though, if you have any other ideas for light armor, I'm interested. I just usually can only supply the natural materials. And most of the metal armors are too heavy for keeping up good evasive stats."

The question on how she got the armor is met with a shake of her head, "He lost a match in the Arena. I think it upset him and he tossed this stuff on the battlefield. He was fighting a friend of mine, Cyrus, so he picked it up and gave it to me. I just can't give it back all banged up like this, though."

For now, she focuses on Xander's gear first, especially as her sword is a lower priority. "I'd be glad to pay for any upgrades to it that you can suggest. I think his class is some kind of knight, so he should be able to handle whatever you've got in mind."

Miho says "You might want to consider something metal over your vitals though, that's just me however. I'm not so mich into cloth or leather I have to admit. So he had a fit and blamimed his gear and not himself?"

Miho doesn't know Xander she's never met the man after all.

"I'll see what I can do, at the very worst I can get it back up to good as new."

There is a moment where Mikage's mouth opens, but then she closes it again, thinking carefully about her words. There are things she knows about certain people that are not her secrets to tell. "It's... not like that." She starts, her previous smile faltering as she folds her hands slightly beneath her. "Let's just say that Cyrus' way of attacking includes some pretty intense status effects. The sort of things that can really mess a person up if they've got some history there."

She doesn't blame either Xander or Cyrus, it is simply a matter of bad circumstances. "Xander has had this gear since I met him, so it's all the gear he had when the Dark Wave hit. He's due for some kind of upgrade, and it might help his confidence."

She shrugs softly, but there is real concern in her eyes. "Do what you can. I know I'd certainly appreciate it."

As for the idea of her own vitals, Miki looks down at her own equipment. She has a padded layer of armor over her chest, "My class gets a little restrictive in what materials I can use. Usually it has to be from beasts or monsters. I had this piece of plate from a spider, but I sold it to help fund the Alliance's work in Shibuya."

Miho says "Right I'll fix this up and if I make something else I can use the general base of this. I'm still pissed I lost all my high end crafting gear."

She makes a face about tht as she orders some water. What else can she get from a lander inn. She's not paying gold for soggy soda crackers.

"Huh we could go hunting for Wyverns or dragons eventually. Or some other large thing with scales. I betcha I could make you something out of that."

"Alright. I'll leave it to you then." Mikage pushes the gear across towards Miho. She seems to believe that the armor and weaponry is being put in the best of hands.

The frustration that the Salamander expresses gets a little quirk of her lips, though, "No kidding. We're all struggling, and it seems like it's a slower grind back up to the levels we were at before." Mikage reaches for her sword, returning it to her side. "If Xander's gear goes well, I'll probably have more than my fair share of ideas to toss your way."

There is a soft 'hmm' of consideration, "I've never seen a dragon in Elder Tale Online. Closest thing to a Wyvern was the drake a group of us ran into in the slime dungeon, but that only dropped a talon, rather than scales." She nods though, "But it's an idea. I'd certainly be up for a hunt."

Miho says "It very much has been slower, painfully so given we have all day to 'level' now maybe it was adjusted for us living here now? We need to figure out how to actually /skin/ creatures and not just deal with drops. Honestly this world is gamey in the strangest ways still. Still we can look into that later, still need to over see my smithy getting up and running."

"I usually don't have too many problems getting the right monster drops." Mikage explains with a slight shrug. "Probably the benefit of being a hunting class, but it also means that I can't do much in the way of crafting, like you can." She looks down at her hands, flexing her fingers, "Then again, I wasn't very good with that sort of thing in the real world, either."

Looking up again, she blinks, "Well, hopefully that gets up and running soon. I'm sure you've probably made a fair amount of coin helping out here, at least." There were plenty of people getting their gear banged up due to the tournament. "I'm actually not sure what I'm going to do after the tournament ends. My friends and I don't really have any place we've set up as 'home'."

Miho says "It's more the pure waste of it all honestly one wyvern could outfit many with how much hide it has."

She notes with a faint smile.

"I have been doing pretty good on that yeah. Amazing when you actually help the landers out with orders."

She grins at this.

"Their business is far more stable too. Oh you could crash at my smithy it wouldn't be much but it would be dry!"

"I wonder if Sassaral could make sausage out of wyvern meat..." Mikage seems to consider outloud. Perhaps because she and her companions often live in the wilderness, food is likely a larger priority than for other Adventurers. "I see your point, though. But I imagine that with the monster and animal respawn rate, that there would simply be too much raw materials if they let us properly skin and harvest everything."

Her lip quirks, "I appreciate the offer, but we make do. I hunt, Sassaral cooks, Cyrus makes potions, so even on the worst of days we an usually get an inn room if we need it." She seems thoughtful, "I was thinking of actually heading towards Eastal after the tournament is over. Check out Shibuya, maybe make some contacts there, since it's the kingdom I randomly chose at chargen." Miki laughs.

"But I'll keep an eye out for materials that I can bring you back or armor crafting. There has to be at least a few monsters that drop something useful."

Miho says "I'll be between Dun Loriag and Shibuya most of the time. It's been keeping me pretty busy but it's been going well. We should friend eachother so we can stay in contact." She grins as she sips at her water, she pauses for a moment. "Sounds like you have a good party to run with Mikage."

At the suggestion of accepting a friend invite, Mikage swipes her fingers through the air, quickly sending Miho a request. "Done and done." She answers, "We don't really have set plans, other than to travel. We came here when we heard about the hourglass, so we'll probably keep following the Calamities."

At the compliment to her party, Mikage reaches her hand back, rubbing at her neck with a sheepish expression. "Well, I have to fight Cyrus next in the tournament, but we both made it this far, at least." Which suggests the two are fairly capable. "Sassaral, on the other hand, she's about the sweetest creature I've ever run into. Doesn't really do the fighting side of the game that often."

Miki folds her arms, "But, I try to make contacts where I can. Having a good smith I can call friend is a good thing." With that, the Were Fang pushes herself up, attaching her sword back to her belt. "Speaking of the tournament, I need to get back to training. Send me a chimlink message when the armor is done and I'll pick it up. I just hope Xander doesn't run off before I can get it back to him."

Miho Says "Sounds like you have a good thing going with them. So you now know where ot get a hold of me. I should go watch the match, maybe there'll be someone actually selling food I want."

She'll get up and follow Mikage out, this match should be fun.
