Hunters & Books

Katherine Tanzer
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

The Hunter's Guild is a busy place. People come and people go. Some relaxing, others talking, many more looking for duties, quests, and other things to fill their pockets with riches.

One person who was here, was an imp with demonic features, From her upside down omega horns, to her demonic hoofed feat. She was the exotic end of what most imp players go for when it comes to looks. Add that with her feminine proportions and its hard for her to not stand out in the crowd.

Katherine Tanzer however was not flirting with men this day, dancing for the pleasures and coin. No, today, the woman is sitting in a rather comfortable chair, with a cup of tea beside her, and looking over a book of some kind. Her eyes very intently on its writings.
Merek
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Merek was not a man that is often seen in crowds, although this was the only way he could pick up the Hunter Contracts. The man walks up to the front when he enters the place, the black attire adjusted about his frame with the belt about the waist, a scarf along the features. There's an exchange of coins, while he also picks up a few missions, looking to them.
There's a nod, while he places those into a pocket, and begins checking the inventory for a few things, before his attention would move to the crowd as a whole, then noting Katherine, while he offers a nod along to the woman.
Kauchemar
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

After the aquainting at previous encounters it is not hard to understand why Kauchemar is one of those asked to help.

Though being a Nightmare has it's own peculiarities to deal with right now, with a few wild ones causing trouble as of late. Enough that a couple of guild sentries stop her at the door with a scrutinizing scowl. It takes a roll of the eyes and craning her neck to show the Were Fang tattoo of a snorting dire equine, and an Inspect from one of the adventurers hired by the guild to confirm she has the Adventurer Icon and not some manner of beastfolk half-breed, to get properly let in.

Once that's out of the way, the Imp that can rival her in provocative dance movements is easy to catch sight of, even when she's not moving so fenetically. "My my, hard at work already I see."

"The true question is," Katherine says as she lowers the book ever so slightly. "Is the work truly ever done?" There is an amused smirk there, though thanks to Kauchemar's distraction she catches Merek giving her a nod and returns it; Though very politely.

Her lavender eyes look once more to the Nightmare Werefang, "And what of you, lady Kauchemar? How does the day serve you?"
Silver Knight
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Silver Knight has reasons to visit the guild to search for information he had no idea whom might be here as he arrives to start checking the stacks however at the moment he spots Katherine, the lenses of his helmet glow red for a moment but he says nothing as he stars to check out the stacks.

"Good day to all of you."

He says politely as he checks the stacks looking for some book or another.
Kauchemar

Kauchemar glances at Merek for a moment, then turns back to Katherine with a nod. "Well enough." She leans with one arm on the back of the Imp's chair. "I got word you were working on something that would be relative to both our interests... I mean, other than the poison and slime things we spoke about last time." She smiles that sly, slightly offputting due to the snake fangs smile of hers.

The demonic imp looks over to the Silver Knight when they enter, giving them a little finger wave, before picking up her tea cup. Not even seeming bothered as Kauchemar rests an arm on the back of her chair.

She takes a very lady-like sip of her tea, before placing it back down. "That would be correct," She says to Kauchemar. Then her claw taps the book she is reading. "This has a tad bit on the subject, but nothing I have not already read over. However I continue to read it, in hopes that might be something further or mayhap a detail I could have missed."

Katherine sighs softly, "It is rather dull, but the subject itself is /fascinating/."
Merek
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Merek walks to the table with the people at it, seeming to think about it while he would look to the book. "Ah, what are you looking for? I have some materials that work for deciphering if you think there's more to be found in it," he notes, then he nods to Kauchemar, and waves to the Silver Knight.
Kauchemar

Kauchemar rolls her eyes with a soft ugh. "Don't I know it. Arcane lexicons are like college textbooks. Thick, heavy, informative, but bland as all get out to actually read." Silver Knight is briefly noticed as others waving to him draw attention that way, but her focus is much more on the discussion at hand. "I do know a thing or two about Binders and haunted objects though."
Silver Knight

Silver Knight says "Information on the undead. It seems there is some sort of force of them on the move." He keeps checking the stacks while he talks.

"It seems thinks are starting to change and the Landers will suffer for it. I wish to do what I can to mitage it."
Katherine Tanzer

"What I have found so far is there is an enchantment that traps spirit type monsters into an object. Then by means of a control rod, you can command the object to do as you will." Katherine explains to all interested in the explanation.

"I have been here and to another grand library, now back here once more in hopes to maybe find more on the subject, but given it seems a subject of grander scale." She turns a page of her book, motioning to the drawing of the control rod. "It has many parts that are in more books than simply just one."

The imp then goes to let Kauchemar take a look if she so desires, before taking another sip of her tea. "Thus I am employing help to search around to see what can be found."

Though when the Silver Knight speaks up on an undead hoard on the move. She quirks an eyebrow softly, "Oh really?" Then a gentle tilt of her head. "I suppose if we can find the books with further information, along with /how/ it works, along with constructing it... Perhaps this hoard would be a good test subject. Taking their soul energy and imbuing it into an object which we can control to stop the rest."
Kauchemar

Kauchemar looks up for a moment and points a finger towards Silver Knight. "You are a wise man, seeking to learn new instead of rely on the knowledge of our former world." She rolls her eyes. "Not all zombie movie tropes apply here."

The equine shifts back to lean over the chair and at the book Katherine is holding. As she does so, she explains "My 'dancing' sword and shield are Binders... However they are simply learned summons, not crafted by one's own hand. So you seek something more advanced, as it were."
Merek

Merek looks between the three, and nods a bit. He seems to be content to listen, "I will assist in any way," he notes, while he takes a moment to adjust that scarf with a little look to the place in full, "The undead, I will need to look into that."
Silver Knight

Silver Knight looks at Katherine for a moment pausing.

"I have not played a Wavemaster but I think I can grasp that concept. It could be put to many uses such as against the undead horde that is on the move."

The old knight finds the book he's looking for and pulls it off the shelf.

"We shall see I'm more concerned with the methods those who are not casters may make use of. Such as our line fighters or even the Lander's military. A few bits of gear or items from an Adventurer could turn the tide for them, in their favour."
Katherine Tanzer

"That is correct." Katherine says, as her imp tail gently 'thumps' the chair as it resides next to her leg. "I am after the very source of the magical spell. Perhaps the very origin of the dark art." There is a glint in her eye.

"After all," She laughs softly, with a smile on her lips. "There is so many /possibilities/ with it." Her attention then moves over to Merek, "If you like to help, darling," She says with a sincere smile, even if her words are still a flirt, "Is help see if you can find any books on the subject in your adventures. mayhap when you go to the town where those undead are?"

Katherine then makes a gentle motion with her hand, "After all, I have interest in maybe enslaving them for puppetry, but I have no desire in fighting. That is-- for other sorts to do."

Her lavender eyes then shift over to Silver Knight, "Simple, my dear sir Knight. The little puppets would replace the forces on the front line. They would get destroyed first, helping thin the numbers, before any other soul has to jump into the fray of battle."

The Imp laughs softly, as her claws nearly reach her lips. "It's Poetic really. Lost souls being used to protect the living ones."
Kauchemar

Kauchemar cackles a nickering laugh of her own. "The corrupted undead give the departed a bad rep! Surely some spirits would be willing to help set such matters straight." She's still leaning on the back of the chair, other hand rising to cusp her chin thoughtfully, until she smirks again. "Mayhaps, my dear, once you have bored yourself of books for a time, you can observe mine in action. They may be simple in comparison, but could help in understanding how controlling of such things works."
Silver Knight
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Silver Knight looks right at Katherine for a moment like he knows something on that or maybe it's something else. However the old Knight choses to say nothing, however for a moment his mind is lost in the far past and terror he once beheld surfaces. Snapping out of trip down memory lane hopefully before anyone really picks up on it.

"Such as that fallen Lander Samurai who only wished to cross blades with us? Mmm you may be on to something there. Perhaps his duty does not end in death if he soo chooses."
Katherine Tanzer

"Perhaps," She says, looking up at Kauchemar, before giving a flick of the Nightmare's hair from her horse like face. "I am sure you are, amazing to watch in combat." Then she goes to let Kauchemar have the book to read over fully if she wants, as she goes to stand up.

Her movements are kept in a style of grace befitting a woman of a higher standard; Even if her clothing choice is rather revealing. Her eyes glance over to Silver Knight giving a nod. Perhaps in agreement or perhaps in something else.

Ether way, she seems to remove herself from the general conversation, before saying simply, "Any that is willing to aid me, will be paid in coin. Thus is my offer in standing." Then goes to look to other books.
Kauchemar

Kauchemar accepts the book in one hand, and bows briefly to Katherine. "All in due time, to those who continue their diligent pursuits." She then drops herself into the chair the imp vacated and opens the tome back up.

She was here to help and inspire, but also pursue her own interests. It's got to be something more than coincidence that both the matter with the wild Nightmare and this both came to be at similar times, both problems to be handled now for the insight to her own desires later....
Silver Knight

Silver Knight says "I shall see what I can do in this regard." Yes this plan does sound like it could help the Landers against this undead horde which seems to be on the move. He looks ot Kauchemar.

"While the wisdom of our old home has applicaitons here? We are in a world that has it's own rules, and we do not ... have Ash from Housewares I'm afraid either."
Kauchemar

Kauchemar glances up from the book. "...Nor do we have S-Mart to shop smart at." She lived in the US for some time, she knows all those B-movie shlock horror classics.
Silver Knight

Silver Knight actually smiles. "Now there is a tale perahps to tell at an inn on Halloween."

HE notes as he contiunes to dig through the stacks seeking books.
