Fey Mood - Kaydon's Anvil Adventures

Kaydon
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

When was the last time anyone saw Kaydon anyway? He had woken up in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and found a Lander that would let him work in their forge. Since then he hasn't left, has slept only when he esentially passed out, and definitely hasn't taken the time for a bath.

At the moment he's hammering away at a piece of steel when he notices something wrong with it. He lets out a frustrated growl, and tosses it across the room, embedding it in the wall. Now he has to start over AGAIN. But he'll do it. As many times as he has to until he gets it right.
Shiruba
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

If Shiruba didn't know where Kaydon already has she'd have no problem finding it!... Unfortunately. Uuf. They're gonna have to drag him to the river once he's done. But that's not the point of being there. Someone had to check on him, and she was going to have to go make sure Gwen hasn't bled herself dry with a needle yet, too. One thing at a time, though.

"Hello -- eep!" The chunk of metal was thrown in the opposite direction, but she jumps at the sound it makes as it thunks into the wall all the same. "Oh dear. Maybe I should of wore a helmet... "
Arashi

"Or a whole suit of armor," a familiar voice advises. Seems Arashi had made her way here, arriving a little sooner than Shiruba. She didn't seem to pressed about interrupting him, at least not yet. She had stopped somewhere along the way and didn't see a point in stopping the smith at his work until she got what she was waiting for. "That's not the first time he's done it."
Kaydon

Kaydon grumbles a little bit as he looks at the voices. He hadn't even noticed Arashi was there, and Shiruba gets a tilt of his head, "Oh. Well...Armor is more of Giganpor's thing, you should talk to him." He replies, not reaizing she was making a joke as he goes to extract the hunk of steel from the wall and toss it into a pile of scrap steel.

He takes a knee next to the pile, hmming a bit to himself, "Maybe if I forge these together.."
Shiruba

Shiruba's ears perk as she hears the dire-shire's voice. "Oh, Arashi! How convenient. Now I don't have to trek out to your campsite to find you." She walks over, takes one of the parchments she wrote notes on, and hands it to Arashi. "I figured you wouldn't actually come to the Alliance meeting with so many people around, so I brought you the basic details. I know, you're still mainly a solo act, but if you ever feel like helping out, or searching that area for your shards; you can drop me a chimlink line."

Then glances towards Kaydon. "I brought notes for him too, but he's been so focused on this that he's probably wouldn't hear them anyways." She shrugs. "Even if I told him about the alliance member opening their own smithy in Dun Loireag." Her tail flicks back and forth in a wag trying not to be too obvious. She's happy to see her friends, but she's got plenty of other exciting things on her mind too.
Arashi

"Not what she was getting at," Arashi notes, not expecting a response out of the smithy. He's in one of Those Moods. She had heard about it during the tournament. After a little time spent at her place, she had treked back out, placed a little order, and wandered for the forges. And as luck would have it, that order is brought up by a speedy little courier who hands the equine a bag and then runs off. "Well I ordered a bunch, fitting," she decides as the bag is opened. Burgers! Crescent logos! It's clear what these are.

At this point, the horse marches over to Kaydon, picks up the smith by scruff, despite any protests, drags him to a table, puts his butt in a seat, and puts the Crescent burger in front of it. "I will personally make sure you have at least one meal today, sir."
Kaydon

That he does hear, but that's a long time to stop working on stuff just to work on it in their own territory. Not when he's so close. Of course he doesn't get much of a chance to respond as Arashi literally drags him away from the pile of metal and sets him down at a table, "Okay, okay." He says, admittedly willing to concede defeat. Especially since they're in Alne and Arashi can beat him until he eats if she wants to.

"We might as well use this time to go over whatever's happening with the guild, since I didn't even know there was a guild meeting.."
Shiruba
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Shiruba just ahas softly as the food delivery shows up. Arashi thought ahead. "Sounds like a good idea." Plus then they can make sure Kaydon actually eats. "I figured you wouldn't want to," or be able to but she's being polite, "stop in middle of the project to move. But Miho's shop is open and available to anyone in the Alliance to use, to keep in mind for future endeavors."

The wolfgirl pulls over something to sit on herself. Looks like she gets to practice before having to organize any large meetings of her own. "Of course, there was discussion about the Tower Bosses and the Calamity Waves that happen after their defeat. Mostly in trying to be prepared as possible for dealing with them. It'd be impossible to stop the other groups from trying to climb the tower, and while an eye should be kept on the efforts to do so, in general it's more effective at this point for us to prepare and minimalizing the impact they have on regions and their inhabitants."

She takes out her own list of notes, and a quill to check off the Calamity Wave discussion, and the opening of Miho's smithy. That's two points covered.

Huh. Well. That was easier than expected. She really did expect Kaydon to make more of a fuss. When he doesn't? Win. She takes a seat herself, passes out the meal, and then settles in, listening to Shiruba the whole time. "Mm... heard a little of this on the chimlink. Something else happened near the Arena after I left, I'm guessing?" nomf.

"Oh right, that caused that giant sandworm to show up.." she recalls, shrugging after. Dragging her blade down it's spine didn't come off to her as anything special, despite some people in her newly populated friend list saying otherwise. Brain pause. Wait. "...Notes... talk about tasks, checklists..." smirk. "Did you get promoted..?"
Kaydon

Kaydon takes one of the burgers and takes a bite out of it. These are really good, even if they are from one of the other guilds...Silver Sword isn't exactly renowned for their cooking after all.

"After the second wave once we cleared the second floor, it was easy enough to put two and two together." He says, "But you're right, we can't stop the other alliances and guilds from doing their thing...Well at least not without PKing the lot of them." Not that he WOULD, but you know, the thought is there, is all.

It didn't even occur to him that Shiruba got promoted, he just figured she took notes from the meeting for him.
Shiruba
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Shiruba shakes her head a little at the mention of PKing. "We may not agree with all the methods and ideals of the other Alliances. But turning them against us, or starting a three-way war, will only drag us down farther. Not to mention put the Landers in a needless crossfire. Preperation and mitigation is the best course for right now."

She was about to continue on to talk about Shibuya, but Arashi's astute observation causes her to fumble the moment. Blush immeadiately reddens her cheeks. "Um, actually.. yeah." She had put that at the very bottom of her notes in hopes it wouldn't become a big deal. Since both her friends are in the same guild, and she doesn't want it to turn awkward...

"There's a lot more going on than the founders can keep up with on their own, so they promoted a few people to help cover all the needs." She rubs the back of her head with one hand and smiles, abiet now a little flustered. "I'm now a guild leader for the Silver Sword, and Giganpor was promoted to the same for Grandeur."

To be fair Shiruba was always a note taker. Just usually about monster attributes and geographical stuff. Not organizational matters.
Arashi
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Well, there hadn't been a situation where Arashi could have learned those things about Shiruba. Just a couple duties and a talk here and there. No classrooms! Back to the tasks at hand... "No Player Killing." Stern, Firm, -dead cold-. Both of them know how Arashi feels about player vs player in general, but PK'ing is her cardinal sin. It is unacceptable in 99 percent of situations. The exception ... might be obvious.

Ha! Promoted. She flippin' knew it. It wasn't something the equine would ever want, but it seemed to be something Shiruba could handle. "Good. Maybe you can tell Kaydon here to not worry about the sword he's working on so much." She was giving the gnoll a bit of a rub, not at all serious about it. She knew the mood he was in from something similar from before the Apocolypse.

"So, in that case, what is it you wanted me to do if I'm in an area, then?" she had the sheet, sure, but she would rather be on the right page from the start. Back to the task at hand.
Kaydon

"It was a joke." Kaydon says in between bites, "But congrats Shiruba. I knew you had it in you to do a bunch of paperwork while the rest of us go have fun." He gives a thumbs up, finishing off the burger after a couple more bites, and then getting back up from his chair and heading back towards his pile of metal. He just had an idea.
Shiruba
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Shiruba does a puffy cheek huff at the teasing. "If you think I'm going to just sit behind a desk pushing papers all the time, you're sorely mistaken." ... And he's already going back to work. Well, at least he ate something. Probably best to just let him finish so he can get back to more usual business.

She's still got Arashi's ear right now, at least. "Oh, yes. That's the point I was going to cover next." Shiruba ahums softly, recomposing herself. "We're moving forward with establishing the Alliance HQ and settlement in Shibuya. But that is a very densely monster populated region. It is going to take regular exploration and guard patrols to establish the routes for bringing supplies in and protecting them. So if you're ever in the area and feel like helping, we'll take everyone we can." Shiruba, knowing well how a wanderer's heart feels, isn't going to demand anyone be there. That's not the kind of attitude she was promoted for having, and she's not going to start now.

"But as I imagine you're the kind to come and go as she feels necessary, I'd just appreciate if you helped me keep aware of other possible important things that may come up elsewhere. I'm not going to be able to stray as far as I usually do while organizing stuff like this, but I want to stay informed." She nods her head after the gnoll. "You'll probably be around more to keep an eye on him while he finishes this project, if nothing else." Shibuya is a long trip away from here.

The were-horse hrms for a moment, then tugs out a map. She has cartography, after all. "Well, I'll keep around here for now, there's a few places I want to check, still. If Kaydon wraps up at around the same time I can shift my searching for a little while," she decides, eyes drawing toward Shibuya. "I haven't been that far out in a while. Seeing as I actually DID find a shard during the tournament, it wouldn't hurt to look around out there, too."

Aaaand Kaydon is wandering off toward the forge. Again. "Hey," she calls, tossing a decent sized waterskin to him. "You're by a forge. That better be empty in the next hour or two," she notes. Sure, game mechanics aren't the same as the real world, but she'll be damned if he ate and doesn't hydrate too.
Kaydon
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

"I will, mom." Kaydon replies, as he grabs a pair of trashed swords, picking them up. He hmms a little bit, as he looks over the lengths of them. He puts both of them on top of the anvil, and grabs a third one out of the pile. The others are all picked up and tossed into a crucible above the fire in the forge, so they can melt down.

As for the trio of blades he has on his anvil, he throws them into the fire to heat up

Shiruba bobs her head. She knew for Arashi it was better to inform and let the wandering mare do her own thing as she saw fit. Then ohs. "Which reminds me of the one other thing. If you go around the northern region of the Dominion lands, be careful. There's been an surge in undead activity there. We've got people looking into it, but seeing as you drift a lot it's best to warn you now."

The wolfgirl hops down from the seat she'd taken. "Other than that, we keep moving forward as we have. To keep this world and ourselves safe." She glances outside, having gotten use to using the natural light/dark to gauge times. "I need to go check on Gwen, she's in a similar 'mood' as Kaydon here. So unless you've got anything else to ask while I'm here..."
Arashi

The mare shakes her head, but shoves the bag toward Shiruba. "There's a couple extra. Take one to Gwen, then. I didn't realize that was going on with them, too," she notes, eyes wandering toward Kaydon. The quip is excused today. He isn't in the right mindset for her to really try and point out anything.

One thing DOES occur to the were-fang, at which point she produces the ring she got at the end of that GODAWFUL TRAIL DUTY. "Sometime soon I'm going to Ezzo. I hope I can count on at least you two, but if you run across anyone else that wants to make the trip to help the landers there, let me know, or even have them reach out to me directly."
Kaydon
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

"Thank you." Kaydon says, as he glances back over his shoulder from the fire for a moment, "Both of you. I am extremely close to a breakthrough, I know it." He says, as he smiles, "But I couldn't do it without you two. And the others who have been willing to assist me while I have been lost in thought...And other things.."
Shiruba
Alne - Hunters Guild HQ

Shiruba accepts the Crescent Burger bag with a smile. "Thanks Arashi. I appreciate it, and she will too." Food seems to be a good way to get them to at least temporarily pay attention to other things. "Ezzo is still pretty messed up from what I hear, and unpredictable. Kaydon does a fine job when we go out with the three of us, but we probably want a good dedicated tank or two so we don't have any aggro management issues."

She smiles at Kaydon as she turns to leave. "We're all in this together, even if we have our own paths to pursue. If I didn't know I had friends like you to count on, I wouldn't be so sure of this promotion business. Chimlink me when you do finish, I want to know how it turns out!.. And whatever it is." She's assuming a weapon, since that is Kaydon's specialty.
