A Debt Owed

Goldenblade, and Gwen. Meet up with Kaydon to settle some debts.

Gwen

Some time after the floor three boss is done, Gwen has maded sure to help Goldenblade make it back to the city. She'd have contacted Kaydon on the way hoping to have catch him in town. Gwen isn't mad but it's clear she's got her project on her mind as she waits in the main floor of her shop. "This shouldn't take too long I suspect."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade is waiting with Gwen, having come with her from the boss fight, mainly to avoid getting lost. She's got a project of her own, which she's idly puttering around with while we wait, mostly hanging out in a clear area of the store and sort of jumping back and forth thoughtfully. It's like a game of blind hopscotch, is what it looks like, but it's mainly just to fill time while waiting. She nods to Gwen about not taking too long. "I hope not. I'm not sure if it'll get compliated somehow or what." But that's just idle speculation, we won't know anything until Kaydon shows up.
Kaydon

Gwen told Kaydon to come on down to her shop but didn't tell him what he was coming down there for. It takes a bit of time but he shows up, opening the door and letting himself in, "Oh. Gwen, hey." He looks to Goldenblade, "And Goldenblade. What's up?" He seems to be doing better since his project finished.

Gwen says "I hope so. It should not be too hard." The towering purple haired woman grins at Kaydon. "Well Goldenblade did back your wootz project and she just lost her blade in a tower raid. She needs a new one and yolu do owe her back for her investment. Mine too but mine can wait."

Goldenblade looks up and smiles to Kaydon, calling, "Hey, Kaydon!" He may note one of her swords is missing, the scabbard empty. She says, "So, I was hoping you could somehow hook me up. I helped out on the Wootz steel project, and I was hoping to pick up the way of making it as well. But what I need kinda fast is a new sword. I left it buried in the boss at the last level boss, and ... it kinda seemed better to leave it there. So," she continues, "I was hoping you could either drop some knowledge on me, or hook me up with a fancy new sword." She acks as she winds up repeating what Gwen said, and grins sheepishly. "That."
Kaydon

"Huh...Did the boss not like, burst when it died?" He asks, as he considers, "So both of you lost your weapons, but Goldenblade's is more urgent?" He hmms a little bit, "I'll share the process to make the steel with you, of course. But for now.." He swipes his hand down and opens up his menu, "What kind of blade are you looking for?"
Gwen
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

Gwen says "No what I'd like from you isn't pressing. Golden gave up her blade to make sure no one could to respawn that boss." she nots for a moment for a moment. "The forumal works for me and sa I said it can wait. As for that while you two talk let me get you two something." She'll come back in a moment with some meat dumplings, and fries? Don't ask just enjoy food.

Goldenblade explains to Kaydon, "There was the boss, and it ..." she looks over at Gwen, then looks back, "I didn't really understand all the magical business. It was a tree-monster, and it sort of turned into a regular tree. Kind of pretty, actually. And my sword got lodged in there and it doesn't look like I could have hauled it out with the /Jaws of Life/." She hrms, says to Gwen, "Could we invent -those- here? That'd be pretty useful."

She turns to Kaydon, "So, yeah, anyhow, a new sword is what I need. The old one was a starter-sword, so nothing superlative really..." She mmmns at meat dumplings with fries. "Ah, thanks!"
Kaydon

"I see." Kaydon replies, as he considers a little bit, "Sounds like an interesting mechanic.." He browses the list of weapons he has, at least in regards to the ones he still has. He had destroyed a lot of them in the process of making his Templar Blade.

"Do you have a particular style you like? Rapier? Longsword?"
Gwen
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

Gwen says "If we could Jaws of life would be great maybe we can bring that up to someone who has the skill to figure that out." She also sits back and eats her own share of the food listening as they talk. "Honestly it was about time to get a new blade for frontline use."

Goldenblade will pull out her remaining sword, which is a stock longsword, and says as she holds it out for Kaydon to inspect, "This is what I'm using now. The two were pretty much identical, so this is pretty much what I'm looking for." She nods to Gwen and Kaydon, "Yeah, I'm thinking and planning a pair of blades for myself that are a bit sleeker than this one. But I need something right away because of the boss fight. Just for a month or so, or however long it takes me to make a set that's all me. That's kind of only a maybe, to be honest, I'm not sure about making my own, or if it'd help me much. That's another topic I wanted to talk to you about, Kaydon, though maybe not right here. When we've got time to sit down and really go over things."
Kaydon

Kaydon takes a few bites out of the food, enjoying the flavor, before he pulls something out of his inventory. It's a longsword, same style as the one that Goldenblade had been using, but is of a higher quality, "Try this one out."
Gwen

Gwen will sit back at this point to let Goldenblade and Kaydon get things sorted out. It seems to be going faily well from all she can tell. "Just don't damage any stock while you do."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade will accept the longsword, then step outside the shop where there's a bit of clear room, with a smirk to Gwen. "I wasn't going to trash your shop," she assures Gwen. "How am I going to manage a summer wardrobe? Oh, and a bathing suit. I had to swim like 60 yards underwater in a mission recently, and my normal gear got drenched and I had to wear it wet all the way home."

She makes sure no one's going to walk by too closely, then will execute a few complicated twirling attacks, designed to test the balance and heft of the swords. She switches hands, and does the same moves again. "That's good," she says, taking the new sword and sheathing it at her left hip. Her old sword goes on the right hip. That means the new one will be for her dominant hand. "Thanks a ton!" She smiles, wonders, "Now what all is involved on getting read in to the Wootz steel thing?"
Kaydon
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

"Well the process itself is...I don't want to say simple, because it's hardly the case." Kaydon says, "But you take multiple types of steel, and you merge them together through a process called forge welding."

He holds one of his hands up to demonstrate. "Say my middle finger is the steel in the sword I just gave you." He then clenches his index and ring fingers to his middle finger, "You sandwich it between two other types of steel, or one type of steel, or three different whatever you get the idea." He doesn't want to go off on too much of a tangent.

"The hard part is getting the forge hot enough to make the steel combine into one solid ingot. But once it does, you can manipulate it, though it still requires tempering and heat treating.."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade nods slowly, thoughtfully. "I see. That seems like it'd take quite a bit of experimentation to get everything spot on. I've built a few furnaces for folks that wanted to try the traditional swordmaking, so I've got an idea about that. The heating is mainly about forge shape and what you're burning." She smiles, though, and says, "Thanks for that! Now that I know, I can hopefully make something on my own."
Kaydon

"Magic fire can help too." Kaydon notes, as he considers for a moment, "I had Shiruba set me up with some flaming arrows to start my forge more than once." He muses, "I wouldn't have made my Masterwork if it hadn't been for folks that had helped me. Right Gwen?"
Goldenblade
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

Goldenblade ohs about magic fire. "I can do that, with the fire, but I don't have any idea what temperature it is." She shrugs. "It doesn't seem quite hot enough. Forging steel should be bright yellow hot, the fire I get with my flaming sword is barely bright red with flickers of yellow."
Kaydon
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

"It sounds like it needs to be a bit hotter." Kaydon says, "Do you guys have forges set up at your guild? I could swing by and offer some lessons. Least I can do after you helped me get the steel built in the first place."
Goldenblade
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

Goldenblade shakes her head. "Not to my knowledge, anyhow. I'd been using the public forges in one of the major towns ... I forget where it is, but I think another guild set it up on the western continent. It'd be cool if we had our own," she agrees. "Where is it you're set up?"
Kaydon
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

"I had been working out of Alne, but Silver Sword has our own forges now, though it's way out in Shibuya." He says, "We're still working on building that all up...Somehow I think I'll end up opening a shop there, though honestly 'sitting around smithing' was never my intention when I first got into this.."
Goldenblade
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

Goldenblade huhs, says, "The only Shibuya I know is in Tokyo. Where's the Shibuya here?" She nods about opening the shop, smirking, "It's all I can do not to just go back to bricklaying and bring these people's construction a thousand years into the future. I've been working on projects and fighting to try and curb that. I had not expected how ... motivating it was here."
Kaydon
Alne - Chain Mail Bikini + 1

"That's what they decided to call it. We're in Eastal, near Fort Ouph. It's little more than an outpost right now but it's entirely Adventurer built."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade nods to Kaydon, "I think I may have been there once before. But I mostly get lost when I try to go anywhere. But I will hit you up for more specific instructions if I need. I think I might have it now. Thank you." She bows.
