One Day in the Town of Beginnings

Jaundry
Carmina Gadelica - Town of Beginnings

Jaundry leans casually against the walls of the Town of beginnings, passerby occaisionally going by to and fro through the nearby gate into the city. He is of course dressed in his usual outfit of sturdy pants and little else, but the heat radiating off of the spiky haired Salamander shows that he is anything but cold.
Goldenblade
Carmina Gadelica - Town of Beginnings

Goldenblade is in the town of beginnings, redoing some of the newbie quests. She's not particularly good at the game, so she's hoping this might help her get better and slowly work out how the game works. It hasn't worked yet, she's still pretty clueless, but she keeps trying. She nods to passersby, because that's what you do, or what they did back in her day anyow, so Jaundry gets a nod, and she calls, "Hello!"

The seemingly somewhat exhibitionist Salamander turns his somewhat blank gaze away from the rolling fields of the peaceful town of beginnings towards Goldenblade at her greeting. "Ho there. Don't know that I've seen you around these parts before. Adventurer right? You can usually tell a lander by them introducing themselves first thing." Jaundry leans up off of the wall and begins casually padding over towards Goldenblade, untrimmed, claws on his feet leaving small divots in the dirt.

Goldenblade smirks at the Salamander, and shrugs about not having been seen here before. "Just doing the new player quests again, seeing if there's any details or information I missed. The game's a bit complicated." For her, anyhow. "Anyhow, it's good to meet you. I don't think I've seen you around before, either. You can call me Goldenblade," she says with a smile.

Jaundry reaches up to gently scratch one of the claws of his scale covered hand against his cheek thoughtfully. "That's honestly not a terrible idea. I might do the same at some point. Its been so long since I hung around the town of beginnings that it would probably be an entertaining experience to run through the quests here again. Even if the difficulty shouldn't be too high." The yellow haired Salamander chuckles heartily, before continuing "Well met, Goldenblade. I'm Jaundry. I usually spend my time in the Empire, perhaps thats why we haven't met. That, or that I tend to prefer the company of lander's when its not a fight."

Goldenblade nods slowly. "Nice to meet you, Jauundry. I come here fairly often. But my Academy isn't so far away," she explains. She nods about the quests not being too difficult, and says, "That's a fact I rely on." Chuckling, she nods about the Empire, guessing, "You're probably more at home around the desert? I like it here a bit better, though I'm technically from there, myself." As to company, she shrugs. "The Landers are OK, I guess, but they're not brilliant conversationalists."
Jaundry

"Not generally what I look for in company anyway." Jaundry admits readily, a fierce smile stretching across his face. "I don't blame you for being uncomfortable there. We Salamanders have learned to accept the frailty of the other races in regards to the harshness of nature." When Goldenblade mentions her Academy, Jaundry loses the smile and raises an eyebrow. "Oh, you're -that- Goldenblade? I do seem to recall hearing rumors of an Academy being started near here, but I never heard about how it ended up."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade has to wonder, "What -do- you look for in company?" But she smirks and nods about being that Goldenblade. "I think the names are exclusive, so there won't be -other- Goldenblades. But yeah, my Academy's built, at least. I'm not sure that we're doing much yet, but we've got buildings, at least, and I use it for training, myself, so there's that." As to the heat, she shrugs. "Heat, I don't mind. I -like- heat." Very old men are famous for their ability to bask in intense heat. "But featureless desert's a bit dull, to my mind." She smirks.

Jaundry simply snorts at his smirky companion. "I like to think of it as an ocean, and everyone can agree on how gorgeous those are. Featureless or not." The Salamander raises up a clawed hand, then grips it into a fist. "Mostly aggression. I tend to respect you more the less time it takes for us to end up in a brawl, and Lander Salamanders are about the best for a more...physical conversation." Jaundry smacks his clenched fist into the palm of his other scaled hand to punctuate his point. "You really think the Academy will be much help? I don't know that we're going to be getting all that many 'new' players at this point."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade shrugs about the desert as an ocean, though she adds, "A bit harder to drown in the desert, but similar apart from that. More scorpions. Fewer leviathans. But apart from that, sure." She looks unconvinced. Apparently not a big ocean person, either. As far as ending up in a brawl, she says, "Well, there's enough of that, I guess, if that's your thing." It's not hers, from her tone. "I guess I'd got that out of my system some years ago. I don't mind training. And figthing monsters is important. But neither one are just for kicks, I think. Not for me, anyhow, at my age." But she smirks about whether the Academy will help. "I don't expect we'll get any -new- players. How would we, they'd have to be pretty slow. Hey," she mimics a voice. "Everyone's trapped in this game. Let's log on and get stuck, too!" She shakes her head. "But the point of the Academy is to maybe help players trade ideas and skills. To learn from each other. I'm already teaching one player a skill I developed. So, it's working."

"Your age?" Jaundry raises an eyebrow, his amber eyes scanning the human in front of him and seeing only a seemingly youthful adventurer. "Probably the only downside to the desert is the lack of leviathans, but the sand wyrms make up for it, I think. To each their own, but fighting is about the most exciting thing people can do as far as I'm concerned-and our ability to return after death makes us adventurers best suited to take advantage." Jaundry simply snorts at Goldenblade's thoughts on new players, bobbing his head in agreement.

Goldenblade looks down at herself after Jandry looks critically at her. "I know, I look pretty good for seventy five, right?" she says with a laugh. Like nearly all players, she looks somewhere between 18 and 26. She nods about the sand wyrms, agrees, "Not too many of them in the ocean, no." The mention of the ability to return after death does cause her expression to shift to one of concern. "There's some unsettling rumors about that," she explains. "I don't know too much, myself. But apparently it's not completely straightforward. I only know a few people it happened to, but some of them, there were ... problems."
Jaundry

"Not anymore. New world, new lease on life. If I were you, I'd spend my time convincing people of the age of your current body." The Salamander nods rather sagely, crossing his arms across his bared chest and causing a few of the tribal tattoos covering his chest and upper arms to ripple with the motion. "I suppose even the 'coming back with problems' isn't guaranteed these days, with an Adventurer ending up undead and not coming back. Won't stop me from enjoying the thrills of this world to their fullest."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade nods about a new lease on life, and she agrees, "That part's great, yeah." She shrugs about the age of her current body, and says dismissively, It is what it is." She nods about the fellow that didn't come back, though, and says, "That's got me concerned, but we're working on resolving that." She nods alowly about enjoying the thrills, though, and says, "Good on you for that. Enjoy life while you can, it turns out it's too short to do everything."

"Speaking of which, I should probably get going. Looking to hunt down a member of the duelist's league if I can find one, the reset just happened and I'm finally ready to start rising through the rankings." The salamander bounces on the balls of his scaled feet for a few moments as he lets his arms fall back to his sides, a look of savage anticipation crossing his face. "Or at the very least finding another silver sword to spar with. I haven't punched anything all day."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade chuckles, "Save your cab fare, I'm a member of the Duelists. Not a high-ranking one. Lost all my matches. But it's good training." She eyes the bouncing Salamander, and says, "You look like you'll do well, though. I don't really have time to spar at the moment, or I'd go for it. If I can help you with advice, though, I'll do that. Or you can head out and look for someone with a bit more time on their hands."
Jaundry

Jaundry blinks at Goldenblade, then tilts his spiky haired head. "Miss 'not a fan of fighting' is a member of the duelist's league? I'm not sure that really counts as good training if your focus is on monsters, the two skillsets are pretty wildly different." He shrugs at her admission of a lack of time, and simply says "A real shame. I'd have enjoyed getting my first fight in this early into the new matches. I think I will try to find someone who can give me a fight, though-I'm more of a physical learner than an advice taker."

Goldenblade laughs at Jaundry's reaction. "That's the difference between a hobby and a job. A job you do because you have to, or they pay you. A hobby is for fun. As I say, it's training for me, and if it's a different skillset, then it's better than nothing?" She waves farewell, and says as she departs, "I'd offer you your fight, but I've got to see a man about a horse." And with that, she departs eastward.
