Goldenblade asks tactical questions

Goldenblade
Dun Loireag - The Peaks

Goldenblade has sent out a couple messages, asking to talk with Xander face to face, the subject left out of the messages. But she will agree to meet anywhere, so here she is. She's not good, geographically, except in the broadest sense, and then again, with places she can see. So, she knows the Isekai Ryokan is nearby, and that we'r in Dun Loireag, but apart from that, she's hazy.

But the arrangement was to meet, and so here she is, waiting in an out-of-the-way area, where any eavesdroppers or ambushers would be easily spotted, off by herself.

Xander steps off to the side and makes his way toward Goldenblade. He extends his hand up with a gently, "Hey." Before he lowers his hand to his side.

The Salamander crosses his arms over his chest, his tail flicks gently as he says, "So, what can I do for you, Golden?"

Goldenblade raises her hand in greeting, offers a, "Good evening," and checks both ways for eavesdroppers one last time. "Sorry for the cloak and dagger," she says quietly. It's not -very- cloak and dagger, but it's more than she's used to using. "I wanted to ask you some things in confidence, if you don't mind?" She adds, "You had said before that you were military? Or, implied it, at least?"

"Yeah, I am an Army Vet, been out of service for about..." Xander looks up a touch, ".. Nine? Ten years? Shortly after the flash of death." His draconic eyes look back to Goldenblade.

"So, why you asking?" He tilts his head gently, moving his arms to rest on his hips. "What is it that needs to be asked in confidence?"

Goldenblade thinks about nine or ten years, and what conflicts that would have had Xander in. "That would be ..." she doesn't know the exact names of the operations, but guesses it doesn't matter. As to why she's asking, she explains, "I have a question about what, in my day, we would have called a commando raid. I don't know what you kids call it, I know the terms tend to change."
Xander

"If memory serves right, commando raids were also my of a british term than that of American, give I am part of the american armed forces..." Xander shrugs a little. "But was still a world war two operations."

He closes his eyes in deeper thought, "Though I think the term ended maybe around in the early part of the 80s..." He opens his eyes once more. "Either way, you are looking to go deep into enemy territory I am guessing by that term and looking to withdraw... something or someone?"

Goldenblade smiles widely as Xander seems to know exactly what she's talking about. "In the news then, I guess they used the British term. We got most of our news from the British, I guess. I was six at the time, so memories are hazy." She shrugs, goes on, "Myself and two other ... infiltration experts, I guess you would say, are planning on going into the area held by the undead in Ninetails," she explains. "We're trying to scout out the camps where the undead army has captured a bunch of Landers, and at least one Player. You probably heard about that, but I just recently learned. Anyhow, we've got some high-level plans," high-level meaning rough outlines without a lot of specifics, "but I was hoping you could give me something more concrete to go with."

"Honestly unless you know where this player turned monster is located. It will be a needle in a haystack." Xander explains to Goldenblade. "There is also the question if they stand out compared to the other monsters."

He shifts his weight a little. "The best you can do, is to go in on the edge and probably scout around that edge. To go in deeper with out better intel would be a fool's errand." Xander thinks a little more on the whole situation. "Also in general, a scout party could be useful for any future military tactics for use of by Wake or Amalthea. Maybe if we can find a weakness in their defenses or more intel on where they sink underground and raise back up to offload... we could actually stike at those locations."

He rubs his forehead a little, "But, that is getting off subject, isn't it?" He lowers his hand. "In truth, until you can indentify the targt, there is no point in even thinking of trying an extraction."

Goldenblade nods at Xanders explanation, and admits, "We know so little, that a lot of what we will be doing will be general intel gathering. I know it sounds crazy, but if we can gather intel as we go, it'll be pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps. I can't see any other way to go. I can't imagine what's going on, with a player trapped and unable to control his body. We don't know if they're alive or anything." She winces a bit as she admits, "Scouting is definitely a thing we plan to do. And we're hoping to arrange a diversionary raid that will pull attention away before we do try freeing the prisoner if we can locate him. We've got an idea that if we can keep a very small camp nearby, with fresh horses, it might help us to escape. And then again, suicide capsules, so we're not captured, ourselves. But what have I missed?"
Xander

Xander listens to the explination and closes his eyes. "You haven't missed anything. I am just saying that the chances of it all is a needle in a haystack unless you confirm which undead is the one you are after."

He opens his eyes once more. "So again, best to do a simple scout, get a feel for the location you want to target, along with their movements. Build a plan off that and see what you can see."

The Salamander tilts his head. "Anything else?"
Goldenblade

Goldenblade shakes her head. "That's most of it," she says. "We don't want to imprpovise our plan for extraction, either, though. Our plan was at first to kill the undead, and hope the player respawned normally. But that has a couple problems with it. If they respawned as undead in a player town, that'd be the biggest one. If they respawned in a monster church, we'd have to search all over again. So, an alternate plan would be to capture him intact and hope that someone like Setsuna could ... cure him. Or break whatever curse there is."
