Duty Session 209: Totally Typical Tomb

Landers don't leave bodies to bury, but graveyards are still created as a place for them to mourn the departed. For some reason these places are randomly becoming infested with undead. The Hunter's Guild has an open quest available for clearing these infestations.

June is June. She stumbled across one of the infested graveyards and just put out an open party invite for anyone who might be close enough. The middle aged librarian looking woman in barbarian princess cosplay just leans on one of the gate posts waiting for enough people to answer the call in order to go in and clean this place.

Distractions, thoughts on what she can do to help out with how things are. ... Pela had been frustrated a bit with how things were between the various alliances, so she had started to throw herself at almost any quest she'd heard of. Which included a quest that had her vaguely nearby that infested tomb when June put out that open party invite, and she rather calmly walked over to join that party. Those that knew her trance state she'd been in before might be briefly concerned when they see her, as she's actually not at full HP when she arrives, having taken a couple of dings when she'd been doing the quest before this one. "...I saw a party request. ... Assistance required?" She says as she approaches June.

And somewhere along the way, Pela had grabbed hold of Jazuhanzu and dragged her along behind her. When they arrive, she gives a quick and curteous bow to June.

The Undine's tentacles, hanging down past her shoulders, are twitching, however, and it's clear that she'd rather be just about anywhere else right now but an infested graveyard. Still, she takes a moment to pull her spyglass from her pocket and give the area beyond their immediate location a quick once over before collapsing it and placing it back into her belt, lambent eyes now focused once more again on the one who called them here.

June smiles "Hey thanks, glad to meet you. I'm June...Junko, Arima Junko..." she stops takes a deep breath and switches to Tolkien elvish (Sindarin). "Shutup Junie, it's a pick up group they don't need to know, they don't want you over sharing. So stop oversharing got... you can do this." she nods her head "Alright lets go kick undead butt."

She leads the way into the gloomy graveyard. It doesn't take long until the clatter and skitter of hundreds of skeletal paws. "Lets do this thing." she says rolling her neck.

Jazuhanzu's presence was always a good thing to Pela, so the fact she'd run into her while traveling was wonderful! She hadn't really planned anything about it, she'd just kind of snagged her after making sure she wasn't super busy at the moment. "Hi June... Junko... Arima Junko? ... Are you using your real name? Anyway, I'm Pela Clarpuff. It's nice to meet you. ...Yeah let's kick undead butt." She says with a soft chuckle, moving to lead the group, she shifts her gear slightly, putting on slightly heavier armor and pulling out a longsword, rather than her usual smaller daggers as she begins to make her way into that graveyard to help clear out some of the undead.

Skeletal rats were something she could relatively easily fight, her own natural instincts as a wildcat resulting in a quick and effective pounce and slice on the various verminous foes! Leaving each rat weakened for the other two to hopefully clean up in her wake, as angry rats chase after her.

A swarm of rats! Jazz's one weakness.

"OH, hey. Those are neat," muses Jazz as she stares into the undead eye sockets of the deceased rats.

She squints down and picks oine up. It starts biting her.

"Ow, hey. Quit it."

She then tosses it back down after a moment and lets out a sigh. Disappointment! It's a little late for her assitance, however, as Pela ahs already been decimating them while she's let herself be distracted by the undead rats with mild and perhaps morbid curiousity.

June just nods her head when she's asked about her name. She's terrible at hiding things and barely tries anymore. Pela starts in on physically mauling the skeletons. When Jaz picks one up she tips her head a little and shrugs then draws her hands back. "Holy light, allow us to crush our foes." she chants before golden light fills herhands and feet before she moves into a surprisingly graceful series of motions that flow from punches to kicks, the light enfused martial arts smashing through the bones. Once the last of the horde is crushed she stretches. "That's a nice warm up." she says "I think they said the mausoleums are where the undead usually setup their bosses."

She leads the way to the building but looks to the side. "Anyone else find that wall... stupid suss? Like...why is there a capped tunnel beside the obvious entrance to the dungeon?"

"Yeah, kinda neat. ...Still enemies though, unfortunately." Pela says towards Jazuhanzu, and then... one of the rats starts biting at Jazuhanzu. It was moments later that the one that was biting at her suddenly finds a longsword stabbed through its skull, while Pela gives it a ver /displeased/ look for daring to bite Jazuhanzu. "...Better get checked after this. ... Sometimes undead carry weird diseases in games like this." She murmurs towards Jazz.

The nod from June gets a soft nod from Pela. "...It's okay. ...Most won't share their names." Still, the rats were well-handled, and now they were... looking at a weird wall, squinting at it slightly. "Yeah, it is kind of suspicious..." She says thoughtfully, moving to touch at it curiously. Hmmm. She shifts weapons again, putting away that longsword and pulling out a massive greatsword. Something she didn't use much, because it was just... /awkward/ at her size. And she does what anyone would do when faced with a suspicious wall. She attempts to chop it down.

"I'll be fine," remartks Jazz, dismissively, to Pela. Stil, her eyes are turned now towards the wall. That wall there. She takes a moment, then raises her spyglass to her eye again. There's a pause, a nod. "Yep, there's something beyond it," she says, putting it back in her waistband thereafter. She then proceeds to take a moment.

"Let the ground crack," she mutters, her voice lilting slightly as she begins to cast, "let the stones recede."

There's a soft tremor for a moment and then, indeed, a thunderous split in the wall erupts. It's enough to weaken it for the others to pull it apart, get a leg up on it anyway.

June licks her lips and shrugs a little. "I... am shit at compartmentalization." she says and shrugs her shoulders again. As the feline goes in with sword of doom and the witch starts undermining it with earth magic. June claps her hands together. "Thorn Bind Hostage." she cries out before slamming her fists into the earth. The glowing vines of magic catching and pulling the wall appart while holding the tunnel open. "Come on, lets get in before the magic runs down." she says with a smile. Heading down the tunnel.

The low rumble, the temple like tunnle "Someone loved them some old movies..." she announces. "Run for it."

"Okay." Pela responds to Jazz. Hmm. Well, the wall was... pretty quickly opened with their teamwork. It worked out pretty well for them, it seemed! She smiled a little bit towards Jazz, before looking back towards June. "...Eh. ... It could be worse." She says with a soft chuckle, and then she starts to scurry through the open entrance... that is... until the sudden rumbling behind them. Her ears perk and she turns her gaze back towards them. "... Time for the small person trick." Soon, Pela was diving for a convenient corner of the corridor... and flattening herself against it as best as she can to let that boulder roll past her harmlessly.
Jazuhanzu
Overworld - 2 - -2 - 0

Oh, hey. A rumbling.

Jazz takes a moment to observe as the stone comes rolling down towards herself, Pela and June and then she lets out a breath. "Well, Thorn Bind Hostage won't work," she informs Pela and when the latter gives her a questioning look, she explains, very dryly, "Rolling stone. No moss."

Still, she raises her hands and speaks, "Darkest corners of the ocean, lend me the breath of your great tempests!" The smell of brine becomes noticable as a great breeze kicks up, first slowing the boulder's roll, buying time for them to make a decisino, and then accelerating it past them once she's able to meld her Smolness against a wall near Pela, taking advantage of her quick-thinking to mirror her.

June runs and then slides into a place she's just able to fit in, and then shifts. The slightly doughy middle aged librarian in cosplay is quite suddenly an iron scaled miniminotaur. Cross blocked arms lets the boulder glance off and roll down the hall to fall into a pit at the end.

June puffs a green fog from her muzzle. "Well... at least we know we can expect old movie cliches." she says and tosses her head back. "Like this." she says when spotting the bone organ. "At least they liked good movies."
Pela Clarpuff

What. Why would thorn bind hostage not work. Pela gives a Look towards jazuhanzu, quirking a brow at her. "...I don't get it, I think. ...Either that or you're speaking from experience." She says with a bit of a chuckle from her squished place in the corner. Yep. Pressing in close to the wall!

In fact it seems that's how everyone decided to do it, take advantage of smolness to squeeze into the corner all together. Pela gives a small nod towards that iron scaled miniminotaur. "Well that's... one way to avoid getting squished... just... overpower it." She gives a slight shrug, carefully beginning to stand up and move out of the corner, down to the ... bone organ? She pauses as she touches the slab curiously, only for it to fall and her having to quickly jump back away from it. "...Huh, gotta be careful here... The floor falls away if you step wrong..."
Jazuhanzu
Overworld - 2 - -2 - 0

AS the floor falls away, Jazz just sort of observes it doing so. "Oh," she says after a moment.

"Well, that's a problem! Ha. I guess I can just ... make myself a bit lighter?" She's already small. Getting a little lighter footed isn't a problem, and it might help ensure they don't fall to their dooms if she missteps.

"Or I can make the organ play, I guess." She does, in fact, set about trying to use a little air through the pipes to make them play, experimentally. This may be a bad idea.

It doesn't seem to be. For the moment. She did at least follow the rules inscribed in the musical notes, as best as she can tell.

Maybe someone else will have some feedback there.
June

June snorts green fog. "Okay... guess I'm Andy." she says "I HATED piano lessons." she says starting to play the notes once Jazuhanzu has air flowing through the system, and by the time she gets to the end with several mistakes the door opening enough for the smol trio to escape and it's a good thing too since June loses her cool shortly there after and smashes the organ with her iron clad fists, as she roars in rage at the memories of hated lessons. It doesn't take long for her to calm down and follow the others through and into the cavern. "I... I have no words." she says and switches elvish (Quenya) "Stupid programers... did they even come up with a plausable lore reason a ship would endup in a cavern? It isn't even full of water." sure everyone can understand her but she really can't stop doing the switch of languages.
Pela Clarpuff
Overworld - 2 - -2 - 0

"Yeah.. that's a problem, but I think it was just that one?" Pela carefully pokes at a few of the other slabs... carefully making her way through to the organ, kind of ... leading the way with her quick and careful evasions and such. "...Making the organ play sounds like a good idea, Jazz." Pela nods in agreement with her. And then... June starts to play the notes.
And... soon they were able to scoot through the opening, carefully getting through as she looks... around curiously, squinting at the various things. "...Yeah... this is... uhm... weird... feels like an easter egg route or joke route of a dungeon..." Pela muses out loud, tapping her lip. She was an explorer after all. "These things happen sometimes. The developers knew exactly what they were doing." She smirks towards. ...Andy? What? Okay. Sure. She moves in towards the ship, looking at all the treasure. And the giant skeleton. And... she just... kind of ... looks around curiously. "I feel like... this is a trap... and yet... I don't see a way forward without triggering the trap, so..." She reaches to take one of the pieces of treasure. Followed by.... rather promptly having to dodge out of the way of sudden attacks from a skeleton crew. "Yep! Definitely a trap and event!"
Jazuhanzu

The sight of the ship in front of them leads to Jazz to offer a whispered, "You must be joking," to the sight of it. She's *from* the pacific northwest. She gets the reference. It's a cultural thing.

Her hand goes over her face, and gives them a lambent-eyed stare between her figners thereafter.

Then Pela gets herself attacked by the skeleton crew and she's reduced to trying to stay out of the way. Unfortuantely, there's too many of them, and she spends a not inconsdierable amount of time being battered by tghem before she's forced to more or less 'tank' some of them, ineffectively, with a combination of frost-armoring her body and throwing up rapidly cracked defensive bubbles. Her HP plummets quickly and she clearly does not love it.

June looks at the layout "Don't touch anything in the captains chest or on the scales... captain gets a fifth." she says "Leave it lets take the crew down." she says sweeping money into her inventory but specifically leaving the Captain's share alone. She leaps and grabs a rope swinging across the deck. The woman seems to be joining in in gag that she was just complaining about. She lets go of the rope with a cry of "HEY YOU GUYS!" before she cannon balls into a group of skeletons, iron clad bull woman + animated bones = STRIKE!

And soon they were evading, and fighting back and... Jazuhanzu was tanking. Her health was plumetting. Oh goodness. Pela was beginning to move towards her to attempt to do her secondary role as tank! But... instead... there was an ironclad bull woman knocking them off of her. Oh good. "Right... okay! Good to know... leave those alone... the rest is ours, huh?" She flashes a grin as she goes around, using her dagger to finish off any still-living skeletons with a quick stab to separate skull from spine. "...So... this... is ... ...not how I expected this to go at all." She grins.

One of the skeletons finaly gets an actual cannon ball loaded, thre is a loud BANG even as the last the skeletons starts to fade into light particles "Uhm... girls...lets make like a tree and get out of here." she's stuck in movie reaction mode. And she's running for the exits as the cavern starts crashing down. When the team makes it out they come running out of the same tunnel they went in... how this loop works is anyone's guess but likley it would be explained as some hidden door that was exposed with the collapse.
