Talk Of Books & Spells

    Katherine Tanzer has asked for Kauchemar to come meet her at a nice little tavern. Mostly cause for two reasons. One, she promised she show Kauchemar her progress on what the Nightmare Were Fang helped discover and secondly, well, she needed her help once more.

The exotic, sexy imp didn't go into details, beyond where to meet her and at what time. Along with it being the back of the Tavern, away from most eyes and ears.

It's not hard to get the Nightmare Bard into a tavern, it's one of her preferred places to hang out. Play a few songs, help the drunks forget whatever they're getting drunk to forget (Both Landers and Adventures these days), and the tips tend to be on the nice side. Of course, she's as interested in gossip and other such things as well, but the locals don't really pay attention to a bard when she's doing her thing in the corner.

But that is not what Kauchemar is here for tonight, or at least not immeadiately. "This place must purposely keep itself quaint, considering how busy the Marina is these days. But a pleasant atmosphere is good for business. Hello Katherine." She pauses for a brief polite bow with the greeting, then slides into another chair.

    Katherine smiles as Kauchemar shows up, "Kauchemar!" She says with a bright glee and then motions to the chair. "Please, please join me, my dearest of friend."

The Imp then crosses one leg over the other. "It is so good to see you and I must say, you are looking rather well!" Then she flicks her hair gently, "I also with to give you a proper thank you, if not for your help... I fear what may now be, would never have come to pass."

Kauchemar waggles a finger playfully. "Careful with that flattery, someone might think you want something~" she teases, and winks. Then gives her hair a bit of a flick, though the bangs quickly settle over part of her face anyways. Not that it keeps the keen interest of her gaze from being noticabled. "Well, that is what a Muse does, after all. So to managed to produce something of fruitition in the end?"

    The imp smiles a bit devilish, "My dear, when do I /not/ want something." There is a bit of a laugh that follows, but a friendly smile on her lips.

Katherine then extends out her hand to the side and with a flick of her wrist, the staff she created appears there for a moment floating, before she grasps her hand around it. "It has indeed produced something. This. This very staff. I call it Selee-Geben."

Her fingers run along the ivory work, with the copper coil going around it. The very top of the staff as a crimson, ruby orb with the bottom of the staff having a much smaller one. "It gives me the power to bring to life objects, though at the cost of my own aetheric energy." There is a mischievous look on her face. "... Care for a demonstration?"

Kauchemar raises a brow a bit at the explaination. The staff is certainly a piece of art, but her interest is regardless more in the arcane forces behind it. "So.. you animate things with magic directly, rather than have it posessed by a Binder or moved via Poltergeist then?" She chuckles a bit, and sits back in her seat. "Oh, by all means, if you don't mind the attention it is likely to draw to you." Somehow she doesn't think that's going to deter the Imp much.

It rarely does herself, after all.

    With Kauchemar's interest, Katherine gives a nod and goes to stand up easily. She goes to rest the butt of the staff on the ground, with her hand lightly curling around the staff's shaft. Her imp tail flicks, as she looks for something to animate near them.

Then her eyes spot the simple spoon, the sugar bowl, then the pot of tea. With lavender eyes glowing she then focuses before she raises her hand and snaps her finger.

    The staff's runes glow gently up the base to the crimson ruby orb which becomes brighter. It is not shortly after the cup floats over to where Kauchemar is; simple enough. But then the bowl of sugar floats over and opens its lid, before the spoon moves on its own to dump in two scoops of sugar as the tea itself begins to pour.

At the right level it moves away, setting itself back down, the spoon stirs the tea, and the cup gently rises so Kauchemar can take hold of it. The nightmare may also notice that during all that, if she was to inspect Katherine, her MP dropped just a smidge.

"I can do far greater things with it." Katherine explains. "I have animated a butler who helped me clean up my little space, along with a knight to help me travel home safely. So long as I have the energy to maintain them, they will do as I command and how I command. Even fight for me."

It's not the most complex of tricks, but Kauchemar applauds in appreciation all the same. "That -is- pretty spectacular, considering how... mediocre the discovery seemed at first. It seems like the magic was inteded to be utilitarian, but you've been able to develope it into something much more formidable." Pause. "Though that mana drain is going to be a bother, I suppose. Wouldn't want to try and sustain that for too long in a protracted fight." Another pause. Then a bit of a smirk as she picks up one of the cups of tea. "But I see little reason you'd have for trying to fight me, so no worries there."

    "It is a concern yes." Katherine admits as she goes to sit back down and wills the same for herself, before shooing them off with a flick of her hand. She takes a sip of the tea. "It is a problem I will look more into later, however, I am-- on a bit of a quest at the moment."

The imp gently places down the cup and lays the staff across her lap. "One of the goddesses spoke to me and has give me a task. My assumption is to see if I can find out more about the author of the book we were able to find. That author being Krentel Gerolf." Katherine explains to Kauchemar.

"I need help, Kauchemar. Estelle is doing what she can, but she is simply one woman and is busy with her own research. You have the ability to travel great distances and meet many more people than I, in my current state, ever could." The imp then motions to the Nightmare. "Would you, once more, given me your aid in my quest?"

"Oh so there are still layers to this mystery yet is there?" Kauchemar sets the teacup aside, and leans forward on the table to fold her hands together thoughtfully. "But it sounds like you need the skills of a proper Messenger as well as the inspiration of a Muse now, is it?" Spoken to by one of the goddesses, meaning she may be... onto something more than just solving the mysteries of that book. "Fortunately for you, I have been working on advancing my capabilities for swift movement as well."

    "Then you will help me?" Katherine asks Kauchemar as if looking for reassurance to what seems to be implied.

Kauchemar laughs softly as she sits back in her seat again. "Who would I be to say no? To investigate farther into these mysteries of the world. Especially ones like this prove to be so useful."

    Katherine beams with a brighter smile, "Wonderful! I knew I could count on you Kauchemar!" she then goes to take another sip of her tea. "I do not know where this little adventure will take us, but where-ever it will."

Her tail flicks, before curling a little. "It will be a very, very fun little ride."
