Duelist League: Setsuna vs Schneider

    The crowd watched the sky as the rule of the day was that the fight could not start till the shadows vanished. As the shadows are vanquished by the sun moving over head Setsuna stood on one side of the field. In his right hand, a spear like object that appears to have been shrank to act more as a dagger. On his left hand, a golden ring that seems to be a matching pair to the skeleton knight that stands a few feet in front of him, their health bars synced to one another. It would be any moment now, as the crowd watched, ready to see which warrior of darkness would win.

Schneider stands in the arena opposite Setsuna, pacing back and forth for a few steps, then freezing in place. The real Dark Schneider would never do that, he'd never feel nerves, but this is just a player who took the name, and who tries to emulate that exploder wizard. And he's new to games, so he's not sure what to expect. He attemps a confident swagger, then, with a sly grin. He doesn't quite pull it off, but it's more what Dark Schneider would do. "Well, we shall see how this goes," he says curiously.

    Tick, tock, tick, tock. Setsuna shouts out to Schneider, " Remember have fun. Don't let yourself get caught up in things." Setsuna had seen to many people take this all seriously, this was meant to be fun. No reason to throw it all out there. Then Setsuna notices, that it is now no shadow time. HIGH NOON! With out hesitation Setsuna free hand launches a ball of electricity into the air that explodes into a bright light. Without hesitation Setsuna unleashes his knight as the warrior charges the lone mage on the other end. With a wave of the knights blade he unleashes a barrage of small flames and spark as he carves his sword along the ground, though any mage worth there salt would simply realize, Setsuna is channeling the magic through the knight.

Schneider smirks as Setsuna tries his initial attack. "DAMEDO!" he shouts in reply, "Magic Shield!" And a shield forms, deflecting the flames sent his way. He doesn't shift his position, just standing there, then suddenly vanishing into shadow. He darts forward with blade drawn, but he seems to be off target, his lunge not straight at Setsuna, but off to one side, as if he couldn't see his opponent clearly. Gah, he knows this one, he's played it on others. But what can he do?

    Setsuna wasn't expecting to do a lot of damage, he had just been thinking about taking things casual after all. Yet the shield had thrown a lot of the flames back in the knights face and Setsuna felt it. Instead of attacking the knight head on though, it appears Schneider has chose to try to ignore the beast. As Schneider comes in for the attack Setsuna dances around the blade, only catching the cursed dark energy as it sets a few of his skills on cooldown. However he doesn't bother to try to move behind Schneider either he simply smiles. " Poor guy, you've given up the field in able to attack your opponent. " If it wasn't clear what he meant it soon would be, as he touches the knife to the dirt for a moment and then raises it off to one side. A moment later a shocking bolt of electricity would arc from Setsuna's blade to the knights blade and back a few times, with Schneider in the middle.

Schneider brings up a more complicated shield as Setsuna taunts him, and he says, "Oh, I'm all about the attack." His defense is forgotten for the moment as he begins casting that forbidden spell. At least, forbidden in his source material. It's not like any spells here are forbidden. Not if you can research them, anyhow. He begins that deadly chant, "Kaizard, aruzard, kisk! Hansay Glossik! Unleash total destruction! Sage of Hades use the seven keys to open the gates of Hell!" He points to Setsuna and unleashes hell... "HALLOWEEN!"

    Setsuna had heard those words before and knows exactly what to do . RUN. Setsuna raises a shield of air before he takes off running and attempts to wrap himself in the very flames of the attack as he tries to roll out of the attack. Unfortunately he is still flung into a stadium wall as he has to take a moment to pick himself up and lets out a few deep breaths. "Ok so that wasn't half bad. "

Schneider smirks, "Oh, poor me." His tone is a bit sarcastic. "I've given up the field to attack." He begins casting, and flames surround Setsuna as he scrambles to defend himself. "But now you've given me the initiative completely." FIRE. He casts again. FIRE. And then, insult to injury, he casts, "Tai-to-ro! Blow this enemy away! Anthem!" MORE FIRE. Turns out maybe he really -is- an exploder wizard! Who knew?

    Setsuna grins at the mocking and lets himself be wrapped in an aura of darkness as he charges straight into the attacks. One flame , then another, then another, it burned but Setsuna smiles as he is now up close in Schneider's face, "Pain and I are old friends." With a twist of his left hand and a few hand motions he wraps a ball of water around Schneider's head. Then from behind the knight would activate his poison blade to strike at Schneider's back. "You haven't won yet."

Schneider chuckles as Setsuna admits to being an old friend of pain, but he doesn't back down when Setsuna gets in his face. In fact, he takes the full hit, such as it is. Though it seems like not much. What's worse, his regeneration seems to have kicked in, undoing some of the damage he'd taken. And with Setsuna in his face, what better chance to swing his sword, now on fire, at his unlucky opponent.

    Setsuna can feel the burns on his body continue to sting as his skin pulls on them but he manages to at least to create a wall of air around him. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to stop the heat though expanding the burns as his entire body feels the heat. Stepping back he wipes his face of the sweat and looks at the knight, " What the hell are you doing, step it up damn it. " It seems Setsuna is getting a little annoyed from all this, it was a two onone wasn't he suppose to be winning. Either way he raises his dagger again and tries once again to arc electricity through Schneider.

Schneider presses his advantage, taking small hits and losing a bit of HP, but he counterspells the drowning quickly enough, and he throws up a small shield, but then his voice takes that now-familiar tone of doom. "Kaizard, aruzard, kisk! Hansay Glossik! Unleash total destruction! Sage of Hades use the seven keys to open the gates of Hell! HALLOWEEN!" He unleashes that horrible spell /again/, and the flame is an inferno of ... well, there's a malevolent air about it, as if the broiling flames of Hell weren't bad enough on their own.

r    Setsuna's eyes go wide as he hears those words again and is sent backwards as the flames hit him and explodes. Bouncing along the ground he lays there for a moment and then the crowd cheers as Schneider is called the winner, Setsuna's HP sitting at 1 having been beaten down to the end of it all. With a grunt the knight runs to it's master and helps him up as Setsuna gives a thumbs up to Schneider, "Good job."

Schneider will offer Setsuna a hand up, and a handshake at the end to show it was all sportsmanship and no hard feelings. That's how you always ended a competition when he was in school, though that was sports rather than fighting. "Thanks," he replies. "I had thought you'd have more, we've all been around about the same time, yeah?" More or less? "Or are you giving a lot of time over to all our projects?" Schneider's spending time on projects, but obviously, he's not giving his all on them.

    Setsuna looks at Schneider as he shakes his hand with a smiles, " No thank you and yeah we do get pulled in to a lot projects." With that said his knight helps him walk off the field, however as he is about to exit the arena he smiles back at Schneider, " Or perhaps such duels like these should be kept casual and I didn't want to treat you as an enemy." With that said him and his knight continue out of the arena, leaving Schneider to take that as he wishes.

Schneider shrugs as he walks off as well. "It does you no good to underplay your hand in training. It teaches you bad habits and you get used to using suboptimal tactics. Play how you train, train how you play," he repeats that old mantra. But then he wanders off his own way. Now it's Miller time. Or something like that, anyhow.
