Duty Session 260: Threat to the Harvest
During the Harvest Festival, there are many who take to the fields to bring in the summer crops. However, there are also those who would like to claim those bountiful harvests for themselves. The Hunter's Guild has hired Adventurers to protect those Landers who have been tasked with working the fields. It sounds like a boring, simple task, but they wouldn't spend the money hiring defenders if there weren't real dangers looming.
OOC: This quest is only available during the Harvest Festival. This quest is largely 'Combat'-concept based.

It looks like there are threats to the harvest. Merek of course would ask people if they can assist. Which that looks like Uta will be able. The man speaks to a lander, while he begins along with making a way to the field. "Well, it looks like we will need to protect the harvest."

Uta is here, indeed, as expected. She clutches her staff, ready to tackle whatever challenges may come. "Yes, Merek. We'll have to be on the lookout. Bandits and monsters are a constant threat to the crops."

Merek looks to the field when it looks like birds will try and take what they can from the fields. The man nods a bit while he begins to assist with magic, "Alright, we need to keep the birds away!" he notes.
Uta

Uta grasps her staff and shoots zaps of electricity in the air, scaring the birds away. "Begone! Begone foul be- oooh, I got one. Hey! It dropped... are those chicken nuggets? Well, okay, maybe not chicken, but..." She runs over.

Merek doesn't manage a lot with the birds, although it looks like Uta is keeping the animal away. The man nods a bit, then it looks like there's a scouting party, "Ah, we should probably try to keep them from finding anything," he notes.

Uta says, "Hey, I saw someone use a neat trick! Look at this!" She intones a chant, and after her staff lights up in different spots, a beam of light in Earth tones with 'bubbles' (actually flares) shaped like jagged rocks shoots towards where the scouts are, causing the ground around them to give, and making them sink into holes.

Merek and Uta will both make use of magic, and manage to actually keep the scout away. Then it looks like there are bandits that will be walking along to take on the field. "Alright, we need to take on the bandits." Then he will begin working to assist with defense.

Uta begins another oppressive chant, but this time it fizzles out and her cloud of Darkness is not thick enough to offer enough coverage. Luckily, Merek's efforts are sufficient to keep the bandits at bay.

Merek looks to the stampede of the dire animal, then he begins to try and use maneuvering to try and keep that away from the field, "Well, that's a lot of work for farmers to deal with."

Uta dodges left and right to avoide the incoming stampede. She's mostly successful. "What is going on here? Why are all these creatures stampeding?"

Merek and Uta will manage to protect the farm while they use their own unique way. Then with a nod a little along to Uta, "Thank you, I appreciate it."

Uta uses her magical musical kung-fu techniques to address the final challenge. "No worry, always glad to protect the landers. And the food. I love food."
