Working on clar-ity

Pela Clarpuff
Shibuya - Pelapuff Cafe - Back Room

Pela can be found in the back of the Pelapuff Cafe presently. Jazuhanzu had presumably messaged her letting her know they needed to talk or whatever, and Pela let her know where she was. And it was... well. In the back of the cafe. She let the girls up front know to let Jazuhanzu through, and Pela could be found sitting on a tall stool next to that steel counter in the back room, idly working with a pile of herbs, a few slips of paper, a pot of ink, and a writing brush. Oh also a pile of dough and some sort of ... jam or jelly in a pot nearby. Really it's a weird looking pile of things to have, but that was what Pela had.
Right now she was kneading her dough with an absent hum, working it to the proper consistency as a few of the herbs are boiling in a small pan sitting over a small metal construction with a slip of paper with the 'fire' symbol on it creating a fire for said pan.

Jazz had only been buy the Pela Puff CAfe once before. It was just enough to let Pela know she'd seen it, and that she approved well enough since Pela, she thought, might like to know she'd seen it. Since then, she's been absent and off working on her own things, as she often is.

But now, she's stopped to acknowledge the girls out front, taking some time to talk to them before she dips into the back room to greet Pela, adjusting her haet as she does. She strides towards the stool and then leans against the counter.

"Pela," she greets, casually.

Which hadn't been that long ago, since the cafe had only been open maybe a week and a half now. But still, it was a good thing to know! She had thanked Jazz and possibly given a hug too! Maybe. Possibly. Regardless, when Jazuhanzu walks over, Pela's ear twitches and turns towards her. And then Pela turns to look towards her. "Hi Jazz." Pela responds with a small smile, starting to roll out the dough and cut it into several different sections with a clean knife. Ten or fifteen of them. "How are you?" She asks, as she starts rolling out each of them into flats with an absent hum. She actually was probably the most generally cheerful look she'd had so long as Jazuhanzu had known her.

This is terrifying. Pela? Cheerful?

THIS CAN NOT BE.

Still, she's glad to see it, in actuality. Her eyes close a moment and then she lets out a breath. "Seems like my plan fell apart. The Leviathin will be able to tell the unique energy signature of the Waystone and we can't replicate it. Which means that we're going to need to shore up Tsushima in defense againstt anything trying to take the Waystone from where it will be charged. I don't want Spatjahr to be alonme in defending it. But this also means that we're going to really need to hit the Sahuagin hard with a sizable party, use that trident, and then *get the hell out*."

Pela was in her element. Her favorite thing. She reaches over to carefully combine some of the herbs with the jam in a small container off to the side, mixing them together a bit. She hums lightly, waiting for it to cool a moment. And then... carefully takes a small taste of the jam. She pulls a face. "Okay, will need to adjust that..." She murmurs, before turning towards Jazuhanzu to look at her.
As Jazz starts to talk, Pela gives small nods occasionally, listening intently. "Mmm. Maybe instead of replicate it, try to mask the signature in some sort of dampening thing. Like that box that was used in that one event with the elemental beasts." Pela responds thoughtfully. "Still... sounds like... we should probably have a big group for that, not just one or two people... maybe a full party even..." She muses out loud, absently adding more jam to that mixture.
"Are we going to fight the Sahuagin? It might be easier to have two parties, one to run a distraction, one to get the waystone and go. Though the Leviathan complicates any party really, unless we can somehow draw the sahuagin without drawing the leviathan's aggro." Pela murmurs thoughtfully. Hmm. What could they do to draw away enough sahuagin that would make /that/ safe though? Probably not much.

"We're mostly on the same page. I think the Waystone may be too big to bring a container *and* for us to stealth in with it, though. I need to make sure of the dimensions and size before we arrange it."

Jazuhanzu's tentacles twitch a few timesa as she leans against the counter beside Pela. Being small, she's mostly alongside the stool.

"I agree, though. Dampening the signature on the way to Tsushima seems like a good idea. We can leave something like that out there, presuming it's possible. As for the Sahuagin, yes. We don't have a choice. It's too heavily guarded to sneak it out. We're going to need to kill a group, then we'll need to get out of there. A distraction might work *if* it draws them away from pursuing us, but it's unlikely. I'll see if the Undine might be willing to provide some additional cover, though.."

She pinches the bridge of her nose.

"...Getting it out will probably be the most important thing to focus on when under the sea." Pela responds with a thoughtful look, watching those twitching tentacles idly. Hmm. "And if we can keep it from detecting the signature on the way to the island so they don't know..." She muses out loud. She taps her lip a bit, before going back to working on the melonpan she was putting together, humming absently as she carefully begins to put the readjusted jam and alchemical mixture.
"Hmm... yeah... a raid group might be our best bet then... though I don't know at the same time, the more people, the more possible people who might get killed by the leviathan." Pela frowns at that. That wasn't a thought she loved, really.

Jazz nods to Pela, though, agreeing.

"Again, same page. We need to get it to Tsushima. There, it will take time to charge the dang thing. Spatjahr knows how, but i'm concerned that it's going to be in danger the whole time. I'm going to talk to Mifa some more, maybe start thinking about what resources we'll need to guard the shrine better. I don't want to leave it entirely to the Robot Girl." Her tentacles tips curl inwards, leaving them shaped like question marks.

"...I don't think I ever asked, because just... you needed help and I was here so..." Pela gives a helpless shrug. "...What's this for? I mean... it seems like an interesting quest and I like it, but, yeah! I was just curious." She gives a small nod, carefully taking one of those papers and starting to write out enchantment runes on it. Slowly, carefully, and consuming several herbs as she writes, which seem to shrivel up and then burn away to nothing as their energy is drawn into the writing. The slip of paper is then set on top of the melonpan, a hand lifted over it as she draws mana into the paper. "It's good to think of protecting her... and if this somehow helps her... that's good." She says warmly, before... beginning to focus, falling silent for a minute or two as she starts properly enchanting the bun. The paper burns up suddenly, burning magical runes into the bread. Afterwards, she carefully examines it. Hmm. "I wonder... some sort of barrier maybe..."

"...well, you know, that stone has anti-leviathin properties. It's why they're guarding it so fiercely. Once powered, it'll drive them back, open up the seas for exploration. Imagine a calmer trip between Tsushima and the mainland fo Yamato, and being able to explore outwards from it without an immediate attack from the Leviathin being a huge concern. This in turn will probably calm the seas down due to them being absent, and the Undine will be able to clear the Sahuagin more easily from their underwater cities, perhaps. It opens up a lot of possibilites." The spots along her face and neck glow briefly as she stares at Pela, leaving her briefly bioluminescent once more before it dims.

"It may also make Spatjahr open up to us a little more about what they know, and I can encourage the Landers to settle on Tsushima as well, bring people back to it to do their own thing, in a place that isn't being dominated by what *we* want, but rather, let them do what *they* want."
Pela Clarpuff

"...That's... definitely... something worth putting an effort into getting ahold of, yes." Pela responds as she thinks on that. "And... something that we'd want to defend for a long term as well, because I don't imagine monsters will want to leave it be even after we get it after it." She murmurs thoughtfully. And she leans in to gently hug Jazuhanzu with one arm. "Anyway. ...Yeah. ..." The talk of a place to be dominated by what they want instead of what we want, she taps her lip. "...It's a good thing to have, I suppose. I intentionally left tsushima off the maps I made while making herbs, too, so..."
Jazuhanzu

Jazuhanzu is being hugged. She blinks her eyes slowly. A little tension ripples through her and her glow brightens a moment.

"It is," she agrees. "Mifa said Tsushima was 'ours', but I want it to be their's, which means a careful approach to draw them there and encourage them, gently, to tell us what they want so we can support them, instead of them just being adjunt to our own desires and power. I'm not saying all the changes we can make are bad. We're here whether we like it or not, but wwe need to make sure we're integrating, not dominating. Not colonizing."

The glow is neat, that's for sure. Pela likes it when that happens, even if Jazuhanzu probably doesn't love it. She falls silent as she listens to Jazuhanzu though, just beginning the work on putting together the rest of the pieces of melonpan to experiment with making that little magical snack. These would be a failure, but at least they'd be edible and have neat runes on them? "Hmmm. If they're even... interested in it. That's one thing that we'll have to consider as well. People might not want to go to this strange island super far out of the way... it might only be us adventurers crazy enough to want to be there."

"A chance to settle a new land is always welcome, especially with the opportunities presented. In fact, I'm worried about the political possibilities," says Jazz, putting a hjand to the top of her head on her hat, straightening it. her tentacles flicker a little back and forth as the glow starts to diminish. She flicks her gaze down towards Pela's arm around he and then observes her finish her work.

"Yeah... mmm. If it has anything useful on the land, that is. We also have to think about Spatjar. Does she want her island colonized by the people of the land? Maybe ask her what she wants too." She murmurs with a helpless shrug. "As far as I'm concerned it's her island... I don't have much stake in it beyond that." She says as she methodically goes through each of the breads until they're all done, and slips them onto a pan, covering them with a light cloth to let them rise. "...Not to say you're not considering her too, you obviously care a lot about her safety."
Jazuhanzu

"She oversaw a settlement there before. She's clearly okay with people living there. IF she wasn't, she'd tell me. It'll be okay. I do believe that it won't be long before I can't keep the Proteus' of the world from harassing her for information." Her glow diminishes further and then evaporates entirely at last. Hr nose wrinkles. "It's bad enough that people like Mizuki tried to drag her into the Aincrad. I have concerns about her being manipulated -- but I think she can mostly handle herself." She leans into the counter that Pela works on.

"If she would even tell you. She might not be able to tell you unless prompted, depending on how deeply she's reliant on programming." Pela comments idly as she lifts up the pan of melonpan. "Again... there is kind of a reason I left Tsushima off the map. I like sharing information freely, but I feel like it might cause problems if the shrine gets too heavily messed with or tech from it copied..." Pela murmurs. "Anyway... I think I am going to rest. ... You're welcome to rest here too if you want. I have a spare futon I can put out." She smiles a little towards Jazuhanzu, letting the girls take over from there on the actual baking. They knew how to handle baking melonpan, after all. Pela would get out the futon if Jazuhanzu decided to stay, and she would actually let Jazuhanzu take the slightly nicer bed, while she slept in the futon instead.

"I.. I guess it *is* kind of late," says Jazz after a moment.

Seems like she'll be staying for the time being. She'll try to take the futon, of course, because she's not going to put Pela out of her own bed.

They may fight over it.
