What Are They Doing Now?

Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor, apparently taking a much needed break from constantly making and supplying armor, has taken up a new hobby apparently. A side area of his shop has a practice range setup and he's outside using it. Apparently he's trying to figure out something if the rumors are true. The other thing... his current armor looks newer. Just a bit shinier. As if it was more freshly made.

And that brings it to this afternoon with Giganpor out at the side alley, a small wooden fence setup to keep people back, and tossing throwing axes, throwing knives, even swords at a bullseye target across the way near what has to be the back shop wall. It's got a good distance behind it, too, and he seems to be trying to make the different weapons curve. Which he's mildly being successful at. At least with the axes. Swords seem to like to stick into the target like they were cutting through it.

But yes, the Were Lion is out and in human form as he chunks the weaponry out at the targets.
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba wanders over and hops up to sit on top of the guard rail fencing. She watchs a few throws with interest, but can't quite figure out what it is Giganpor is trying to do. Why is he not just throwing the blades directly at the targets? "I see someone has been keeping themselves busy." Hopefully this time with things that won't cause so many troublesome side effects. ".. But wouldn't it be easier to just throw a knife directly at the target?" Ranged attacks are kind of her thing so she can't really help but comment.
Kotono
Shibuya - Main Square

Usually she takes a stealthy or even acrobatic approach, but tonight Kotono simply arrives on foot. With her is Miyako, of course, and together they approach with Kotono having an intrigued smile on her face as they approach. "Is something going on here?" She asks as the duo approaches?
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor looks up from his latest toss, which seems to do what he wants, but ends up slamming into the fence. The very curve of the axe looked like it might have worked, too, at least to get around the target.

Huffing a little, Giganpor looks over, "Eh, not quite. I'm trying to do a getter thing, which is a lot harder than it looks. I swear I'm going to have to increase the sharpness somehow with magic at this rate and make it boomerang back."

He shrugs, "So how are things going, Shiruba? And hello, Kotono, Miyako. Nothing much. I am just doing some practice to try to make a new technique for people to use. Kinda working, kinda not. I figured if I can figure out the way to make it go around the target first, I'd have a better chance of making it come back."

The large red-head shakes his head a few times. "I was going to put it on my gauntlets, but that seems pointless if I want others able to use it, too."
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba perked an ear up at 'getter thing'. Which is farther explained by talking about making it boomerang. And that he's been trying it with axes as well. Realization hits. "Oh! Like the Tomahawk Boomerang." Pause. "Have you tried using Air magic to influece it's flight?" She raises a hand to wave to the other arrivals.
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako has been spending more time researching the runic inscriptions she found in the catacombs, getting more obsessive over it as the days passed. Which is why Kotono has dragged her out into the open for a bit. They've just had a late lunch, and now Miyako is being dragged down the street, looking around, when they hear familiar voices and poke their heads in to take a look.

"Hey, Gigan, Shiruba. New technique, hm?" She hmms softly, nodding as Shiruba suggests Air magic. "That could work, yeah."
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor shakes his head, "Wouldn't work for me. I don't have access to Air. Plus, I want to make it for everyone and not everyone has the same elements at their disposal. Like the Landers for instance."

He shrugs, looking thoughtful, then looks at Shiruba. "Oh, dang. Someone else is a giant robot fan, huh?" He laughs. "Exactly that, actually. I figure it will either have to definitely go through most things or hit and be able to bounce back. But well... seems sad to just limit it to axes. It's why I have the occasional sword out there."

He sighs and moves across to start pulling out and picking up weapons, with a barrel that he's apparently been keeping them in for this.
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba mmms. "Good point. I've gotten so use to seeing magic that I forget not everyone specced in classes with certain elements readily available." She laughs a bit afterwards, tail swishing over the fence behind her. "I've been through my brother's collection. Manga and anime were the only escapes I had before getting into gaming."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang wanders into Shibuya, looks around, her expression ... hesitant. She nods a greeting, though, and approaches the assemblage. She's pretty sure she's allowed here, she's even met some of the people. But the Japanese can sometimes be standoffish, she's found. So, she bows formally when she gets close enough to address everyone, and says formally, "Good evening. I am ... Yeowang." She looks around, trying to hastily take stock of the scene.
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor tilts his head, looking over. "Huh. Oh, hi." He gives a small wave, a bit busy pulling an axe out of the target. And another out of a wall.

He even accidently nearly takes off a chunk of the post holding the target out by pulling a sword out and sticking it in the barrel. "Huh..."

He calls back, "So what has everyone been up to? Since I am only overseeing construction projects these days, seems like I do not hear enough about others and what they are doing."

Reaching up, he pulls one axe off the roof. Seriously, he barely reached that one. He starts counting the different handles of the weaponry to make sure he has it all.
Kotono
Shibuya - Main Square

"Not a whole lot, honestly, just doing what ever comes up," Kotono says. "With Miyako at times, of course," She adds with a playful nudge and chuckle. "Other than that, same old." She stretches her arms over her head.
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako nods and elbows Kotono back. "Lots of runes and cryptographic analysis," she adds. "Like she said, same old same old." She hmms softly. "You haven't heard of anyone managing anything along those lines, have you?"
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

"Oh, you know. Undead hunters, malignants trying to use Festivals to poison innocents, rats, slimes, pirates. The usual." Shiruba huffs... and feels a little annoyed at herself at how 'normal' rattling off a list like that these days. "I've finished my defensive training, for the most part. Need to work on putting the techniques I learned into practice though."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang hrms as Giganpor asks what's been going on. She echoes Kotono, replying, "Not a lot here, either. Training, mostly. Running missions." She says, "I had expected the guild would be more active in dealing with the Landers, and in international affairs. That was why I joined. But now it seems we're not about that anymore?" She looks around curiously. "I've only just recently joined, though, and I thought I might not have the whole story."

Miyako gets a curious look, and she asks, "Cryptographic analysis of what?" But she shakes her head at knowing about anyone else, and she admits, "My skills are in corporate management, which seems to be unneeded here." She shrugs diffidently.

Shiruba's list gets some consideration; it's a bit like her list, as far as the training and missions and festivals. "I agree, things seem quiet." Which may beg the question about what she'd consider a life of excitement?
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba sighs softly at Yeowang's remark. It reminds her of a conversation she had with another member recently about similar topics. "No Yeowang, that has not so much changed... as some of the politicing has taken a backseat to dealing with threats trying to go to actual war with us." And not being fond of politics herself Shiruba hasn't tried to chase any of those connections again with everything else on her metaphorical plate.
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor pauses before lookng over. "Seriously? Someone's using festivals to poison people now?" He sighs, looking around and pulling a final sword out of a shadowed corner and tossing it into the barrel. Dragging the barrel back over, he frowns as he seems to be looking thoughtful.

"Well, the thing about training is putting it into practice. It's why I haven't taken an apprentice or anything and do a lot by myself or ask for help. I prefer being able to do things as I want rather than relying on others. If they want to help, I have no problems with it." He shrugs, then moves himself into a good position to begin throwing once again.

"Runes and stuff? Hm... might try Dun Loireag and the Mage's Tower. Also, guy might hate me for it, but talk to Prophylaxis. He was investigating the Alv writing just like some of ours were." He says towards Miyako and Kotono.

Then he eyes Yeowang, "What we are depends upon your view of things." He looks considerate. "Instead of expecting others to do it, why not try some yourself? While some might disagree with it... I do have a little bit of a reputation going on. Both good and bad. Good in that I am probably one of the best armor makers right now. I won't say I am the best, because that's just inviting trouble. I will say that I am skilled. The bad, well, everyone knows that one. It has it's ins and it's outs either way. If you want to go dealing with Landers, go for it. Find the people willing to."
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako hmms. "Prophylaxis, hmm? I'll check with him... maybe he's in town..." She shrugs. "It's looking like it's going to be a long-term project, but if it works out, we may be able to get the Chaos Gates back online."
Kotono
Shibuya - Main Square

After listening for a while, Kotono says, "I have to head back." She looks to Miyako. "You can come with me or you can follow me later." She gives a wave and a smile. "Good seeing you all."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang arches a brow at Shiruba, and says, "Threats? Is this about arming the goblins in the tower? I've only heard rumors about it, of course." To Giganpor, she admits, "I can't use armor, so armorsmithing doesn't help me at all, unfortunately. As to the other, I could go off and do things, but if they're at cross purposes to the Guild, or counter to other intentions going on, then it's wasted effort, or worse. Hierarchies are supposed to distribute information and guidance from the top down. We /do/ have goals, don't we?"

"Chaos Gates? What are those?" she asks Miyako. She nods to Kotono as she departs, "Take care."
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

"There's the undead army in Ninetails... the zealots from other worlds that have been turning up during the Calamity Waves... not to mention the Waves themselves... the other Alliances have been pushing technical advances that are... questionable if Yamato is ready for them yet. So really, if you want to help something, take your pick. Find where your skills can be useful." Shiruba hops down from where she was sitting on the fence. "We won't always be able to tell you were to go and what to do. You need to be the difference you want to see made."

She pauses, then groans and buries her face in her palm. "Ugh, that sounded terrible and corny. I am not good at the whole inspirational leader speech cliche." Another sigh, and she lowers her hand from her face to steeple fingers together. "What I'm trying to say is, don't be afraid to find your own path and pursue it. The best way to understand your place in the world is to experience it."

She bites her lower lip for a moment, then huffs and slumps back against the fence. "That one sounded better... mostly just because I'm repeating something said to me by the gruff old panda that was helping my training."
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako nods, waving to Kotono. "I'll catch you later, Ko-chan," she calls, before turning back to the group.

She listens to Shiruba's list of problems, nodding, sighing softly at the mention of technology. "Is it really our place to decide what's 'good for them' and what isn't? SHouldn't we be talking it over with -them-?"
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor hums, then puts a spin that clears the back of the target, comes around and smacks against a wall about half way to them. "Hey, that's pretty close. Huh."

He seems to consider before looking at the others, "The arming the goblins is something I did to buy time, really."

After running a finger along the edge and getting a reading off the inspect window from the looks, he then looks to Yeowang, "If the body is not telling the head what is going on, how can the head tell the body what to do?"

Giganpor gives a small shrug, holding one of the axes and inspecting it idly as he leans on the fence. "I may not be an officer in the way that Shiruba is, but what she said is right. If you stand around doing nothing and waiting for orders, then you will continue to do so. In the corporation you were in, did you always wait for orders to get to where you are?"

He thinks for a moment, then seems to get a bit of a grin, "Oh, Shiruba, that reminds me."
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba points her fingertips towards Miyako. "Exactly. I'm worried about people trying to recreate things they miss from 'the old world', and this world not being prepared for it. Where do you even -start- to tackle an issue like that? I try to be a good leader, but... there are problems I have no answers for. Despite people looking to me for them." The burden of leadership. "I am just as new to these situations as everyone else."

She grabs the fence and vaults back over it to get outside the practice range. "And even I have let myself get too wrapped up in certain affairs to remember there's a bigger picture I need to look at. So many strings at once, they can't all get pul--" She snaps out of the introspective, ponytail wagging almost as much as her wolven one does as she turns back to Giganpor. "Nani?"
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang nods to Shiruba, "I've been trying to help in those situations when I can find a party forming." As to the inspirational advice, she nods, "I find my path where I can. This gaming thing is very confusing, but I think I'm starting to see why my little brother would get so involved." She shrugs at the quality of the pep talk, she says, "The important thing in leadership is to show the right path through your actions. Leadership by example is key." The bit about the panda, though, confus her.

To Miyako, she says, "We should take their desires into account, but we should also trust our own judgement. There is room for a negotiated relationship, I think, between ourselves and the Landers. They're not chidren, but we /are/ protecting them."

To Giganpor, she says, "It's true that the body should tell the head what's going on, but the head has to at least lay out a plan for the body to act on." As to waiting for orders in her corporation, she smirks, and says, "Of course not. I didn't receive orders, I /gave/ the orders. If you would like me to help organize things in the guild and try to keep things moving, I would be happy to do so."
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor shrugs, "That arguement would go in circles for a bit. The best thing to do right now is figure out where you want to go. Not us as in the Guild, Alliance, or whatever. You."

He turns, stepping away from the fence and taking aim with the axe again. "All of what we Adventurers have achieved so far is because we did not wait. I created one of the first fully custom items in the game because I had an idea and acted on it." The axe is chunked again, this time curving around and ending up in the ground.

He reaches over to pick up another out of the barrel of weapons. "I went to the Tradesmen to learn how to make armor because I wanted to. Our resident weapon smith Miho asked for my help. I could have said no, but chose to. The result is our Moonlight paths."

He looks at Yeowang. "You say you want to help, then go offer it to the higher ups. You say you want to deal with Landers, to help them. Then do so. The more you wait, the harder your path will be."

He makes a face, then looks to Shiruba, "Since when did I become the wise one here? I thought that was supposed to be Bear or one of the others who keep to the offices or whatever they do?"
Shiruba
Shibuya - Main Square

Shiruba smirks a little at Giganpor. "I have come to find that there is more than one kind of wisdom in the world."

Then turns to Yeowang. "If you want to help with trying to organize things better, I would certainly appreciate it. I know -almost nothing- about running a large organization. Sometimes I wonder how I got the position in the first place." Though with that she starts to meander off in the direction of the HQ building. "Though speaking of which, it's about time for the evening patrol reports to come in, I best be ready. The messenger sometimes gets whiny about having to leave 'important information' alone if someone isn't there to recieve it." She rolls her eyes. "Even if it's not -that- important half the time..."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang shrugs about arguing in circles. "As I said, I only recently joined, so I'm learning how things work. This is the first I've heard that rank-and-file members of the Guild were given such lattitude. I was expecting more centralization, but if it's not a thing, then I won't wait for it." She says to Giganpor, "As to relationships with Landers, I can set up a grievance-and-relief committee if you like. That'd be my first proposal. So that the people displaced by the wave attacks are taken care of, and can re-integrate as quickly as possible, and so their concerns are addressed. We might have gotten ahead of the heling potion shortage sooner if we had," she notes.

She smirks to Shiruba, and says, "I'd be happy to take care of things, if you like." Though she's a different Guild, if that'd make things complicated. "As to how you got the position in the first place, the position often selects the person, and you can only do what you must. But take care, and I will see what I can do to assist you."
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

"Since you're the one who seems to actually care and pay attention to what's going on," Miyako remarks to Giganpor. "Most people seem content to just fiddle around unless someone asks them to go do something."

She waves casually to Shiruba. "Hope all goes well."

"As for the Landers," she continues, "SOMEONE needs to talk to them. Your 'grievance committee' is certainly a good idea. A place for them to raise complaints about adventurers being assholes, for example."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang nods to Miyako about the grievance committee idea. "That'd give us a much faster read on what's happening to them, to be sure. And speed of information is important. That way we're not perceived as 'not caring' because we haven't resolved a situation we didn't know about."

Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor hums, "If you want to do it, go for it. Just remember that we don't have a lot of power as police or the like here."

He raises another axe and chunks it, again having it spin and this time having to move instead of being hit as it slides along the ground to him.

Sighing, he looks at the two, "This is going to take a bit of practice."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang nods to Giganpor, and agrees, "We're not police, of course. The cities and towns have their own police forces. Though you asked me some time ago to find out how Scale implemented root city protections in Shibuya. But they don't, they have a police force, just like all the other cities do. I think one of the Alliance Guilds does that here?" she asks. But she nods about going for it. "Well, all right. I had not expected to hold such a senior position after so little time. But I get the sense that the Guild isn't organized in ways I'm accustomed to groups being organized."

Eying the training Giganpor is doing, she wonders, "Are you learning to throw, or developing a new weapon?"
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako smiles lightly. "The Guild seems to operate on a basis of "you thought of it, you do it", unless somebody else steps up and volunteers. Which doesn't seem to happen all that often. I ended up running the catacomb survey almost entirely by myself, for example, and let me tell you I got into more scraps doing that..." She shrugs. "Damn glad I loaded up on healing potions before each run."
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor looks over at Yeowang, "You ever seen Getter Robo?" He asks, shrugging. "Old show from when I was a kid. And well... kinda lacking in the ranged department even with summons. It's more technique than weapon, really."
Yeowang
Shibuya - Main Square

Yeowang hrms to Miyako, and looks accusingly at Giganpor, "That's terrible organization. A leader's job is to make all the arrangements so the employees can get things done most efficiently. Making everyone do their own organization on top of the work wastes effort. We could probably benefit from an ideas committee, too."

Giganpor gets a puzzled look, and Yeowang shakes her head. "I never had much time for TV, unfortunately."
Giganpor
Shibuya - Main Square

Giganpor sighs as he finally gets one to at least come back to him. He shakes his head, glancing up as a rumble comes from his stomach. "Well, dang... I guess I have been at this for a while. Much as I would like to continue the conversation, Bear did take a lot of the responsibilities away I had."

He shrugs, "Then again, I am not really leadership material. I just look for the best and try to give what advice I can. If you really want to try this whole committee thing, go talk to Bear or one of the other higher ups. As it is, I need to go get some food and probably think more on this whole thing."

He moves to begin picking up weapons and getting ready to go back in.
Miyako
Shibuya - Main Square

Miyako shrugs, waving to Giganpor as he walks away. "Organization..... eh. I think things are still a little raw, even if it's been months. You'd expect folks would settle in, but really... they aren't." She turns away, leaning against the building. "I heard somebody's putting together a meet-n-greet for the whole group soon. Keep an eye out, bring your concerns up there. Best chance to be heard by everyone that matters."
