Meeting the Landers: Bandit King

A private scene for Merek.

When Merek finally meets with the Bandit King, they do so within the city of Alne. Somewhere high up the hills, leading towards the Tower itself, The black armored individual is leaning on a stone railing, staring out over the city, considering the massive region before him.

He finally rises as Merek arrives, and turns to him. "I will be brief. Have you thought about the offer I made you? It isn't very often that I reach out to someone. But it's clear to me that you are rather commonly present in matters that have endangered other Adventurers, and seek a way to protect them from threats that would take away their... how shall I say... ability to respond? Their agency." The Bandit King comments to Merek.

"Do you think you have the ability to keep such a matter up, without getting yourself killed?"

Merek walks along and to that railing that looks to the city, he seems to be wearing that dark attire which he often does, while nodding a bit to the Bandit King. He doesn't know a lot about the man, he does know that he seems to know a lot more than he tells people all in all. "I have thought about the offer, and I would like to pursue that path. I need to be able to protect them. And myself, I think I will be able to, I'm doing better than I used to in managing to keep through the fight. I can't protect people if I'm killed," he notes.
Then he seems to consider the skies, "The enemies coming at us are more and more powerful every day anyway."

The Bandit King may be a man, may be a woman, may be something else entirely. None know. Especially not with this heavy armor. Their voice, their personality, it always seems to change. Male, it seems, by the tone of their voice at the moment. "They are going to only grow more powerful. They have a great deal of powerful actors behind them. And I fear that it will not be long before one of the new powers to be will take heavier control." The Bandit King points out. "There are dark clouds coming, Merek. As the power of you Adventurers grow, so will theirs. You must ensure you meet it, if you wish to remain in control of your destiny." They declare, before they turn.

He then offers out a hand. "Take it." He tells Merek. "Take my hand. This is just the start of your journey to power. But this will be the first step of many."

Merek looks then to the Bandit King, while he nods a bit to them, he doesn't know what they are and why they are. All he knows, is that they are offering the path to destiny that will protect people. The man takes the hand, "I will ensure that I meet it. I know there really will be a lot for me to learn. Why we're here and what it is we're meant to do. I will protect the people, and... Well, as the others all say, I probably shouldn't worry my friends."
There is a little chuckle, "Well anyway." He nods a bit, entwining with that waiting hand, with a look to meet the helmet of the face.

As Merek touches that hand, he'd feel something flow through him. A momentary power. It feels almost like a permission, before it's suddenly locked away. The Bandit King finishes shaking Merek's hand, and then smiles at him. "The first step of many." He tells Merek. "Now, from here, I need you to do something for me. There is a dungeon to the north-east from Eastal, pointed towards the Ezzo Empire. There is a black helmet there. I need you to retrieve it for me." The Bandit King points out. "It is filled with slimes, so I recommend you are careful."

Merek looks to that hand of his, while he nods a bit to the Bandit King, "I will find you that helmet in that case," he offers, while he thinks about it. He does note the Bandit King already being armored up. Well, he will try not to think about it too much while he watches the place, "I need to bring Uta. She's the slime expert." Well, it's always slimes, they are great.

"Bring whomever you wish. For now, I simply wish you luck. And good hunting, mister Merek." The Bandit King adds... before they suddenly jerk and shift, lookoing around in confusion. "What... where am I...?" They blink for a few times, and then starts just wandering off, rubbing their head.

Merek will look to the Bandit King, and notices that it looks like they were... What, not themself? That's pretty interesting, the man looks at that thing in the inventory, and nods a bit while he takes the time to then watch the city, thinking about that new quest.
