War in the Waterpocket

With the Trident's function discovered, and its activation secured, the New World Alliance team begins to move upon the Leviathan's coils in order to reach the gem hidden within the surrounded former kingdom of the Undine.

Deep beneath the waters, coming through Byalan tunnel, the crew has made it back into the Undine City. A massive shadow looms high above them. The enormous coils of the serpentine Leviathan that has made this its home rest above and around the kingdom, like an enormous physical dome. There are massive gaps that people fit through, but they're only massive in comparison to the Adventurers' own bodies. Compared to the Leviathan, those gaps they push through are almost miniscule.

Waterbubbles flitter past people as they pass the enormous scaled hide. Handsignals is all they get to use to pass forward for the time being, aside from those managing the occasional bubble spell. There's a lot of waterbreathing potions that have been provided for this outing thanks to the Alchemists on the New World Alliance side of things. The Undine that previously had guided them are staying behind, not wishing to incur the wrath of a Leviathan were things to go horribly wrong.

Diving down along the bottom of the ocean floor on this plateau, they proceed onwards. Hiding away from the Sahuagin patrols that are keeping the area busy. One of them carrying the Artifact Trident in preparation for what must come.

Once they reach the central tower of the Undine city, barely illuminated by the sun's light, they begin to swim back up. Diving between small archways and gates to hide from the patrols, until they make it towards the top of the tower. Enormous tendrils from some kind of creature sticking out. It takes some work to get past them, as they come into a large domed room, littered with pillars. At its center, a dias carrying a blue gem.

And two red eyes, of the enormous octopus that guards it. Its tendrils partially wrapped around the Dias. Small pink 'Plankton' monsters floating around them, joined by some dangerously detonation-capable Marine Spheres. They must plant the Trident as they enter the room, and activate it - else this entire trip will go south real fast. After that... battle.
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

As of late, Mikage has spent a lot of time in the area of Byalan dungeon. Probably enough that she's sick of the same damp passageways and water monsters. However, this time they are not delving into the depths for training purposes. There is a greater purpose.

With the help of some others from the New World Alliance, Mikage had determined the activation phrase for the trident. The last step they seemingly needed in order to make a try at acquiring the gem needed for the repairing the shrine.

Not wanting to risk anyone else, she'd volunteered to take the trident and activate it. If anything went wrong, or she had mistranslated the activation phrase, that would be on her and hopefully not drag anyone else down with her.

So, she swims forward to plant the trident, casts a bubble spell to give herself enough air to speak the incantation, and then... activates the trident.

"Rre yor cenjue rre dgal xe." As Cyrus uses a Bubble spell on Mikage as she plants the Trident to the ground, the words bubble to the surface. They have a strange singing tone to them, even if Mikage had not intended them to. There's an immediate blue pulse that spreads from that spot. A sphere forming, pushing through the walls and ground and ceiling, silencing the world around them like a wave. The heavy breathing of the Leviathan above them still sounds. But they can all feel like the world around them seems to have practically become... Silent.

As they speak, none of their voices reach. But the moment one of them tries the Chimlink, that seems to function. Their voice coming through clear as day on the party chat.

The Octopus's eyes widen, and the plankton rush towards the team like whirling discs, but the team has the first attack!
Miho
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

This quest isn't over yet, and she knows there's more to come, Miho had made what preperations she could. Knowing they might have a ticket to the Chruch or something even worse. SO once more into the breach they go and it's a good so far. She does not like what she sees as they hit the city.

"Oh for the ..."

It had to be something like that. She seems about as ready as she can be. She draws her bow and just starts firing arrows she also looks a bit wild eyed. Maybe she just doesn't like Tacos who know what is certain is she's firing a very rapid fire salvo of arrows at the thing.
Shiruba
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

At least this time they have a notion of where to go. Not that it makes swimming their way in and avoiding the patrolling enemies to get to that point any less precarious. Just this time they are certainly better prepared as they make their way into the center of the formerly glorious city and up to the room holding the gem they seek. Mikage has the trident, she has the activation encantation.... and the sentries to the gemstone certainly don't seem to take kindly to it or their presence. Or maybe to the presence of the Trident. But that's just nitpicking.

Like a good hunter Shiruba takes advantage of the environment around them, working with the water instead of fighting against it. She fires one of her pressurized water blasts, using it to create a current of movement in the opposite direction and push the plankton discs away from the party as they get into position.
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

There is a measure of relief that passes over Mikage's face as the strange words seem to take effect. Though she isn't one who is skilled in singing, she has a decent voice, even if it is a little warbly sounding from the effects of the water around them. The blue pulse causes her to squint, blinking before looking around, as if trying to figure out the subtle difference the spell has cast. Her mouth opens, but no words come out.

Interesting.

With the silence having overcome them all, her attention snaps to the monsters racing in their direction. Drawing Dawnbringer from her back, she loads an arrow and fires it towards the octopus, since it seems to be the main foe trying to keep them from the gem.
Rizadoman
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Rizadoman had been swimming in the last year , he swears it, however there is absolutely some awkardness in his movements as he tries to figure out how to best move through the water. He has some time though as it is a deep dive down into the depths of the Undine city. Looking towards the center of the room the lizardman watches as Mikage makes her way to the center of the room and places the tribe. Then after that everything starts. Digging his claws into a near by wall he pushes in before launching himself off the wall, through the water like a torpedo as does his best to scrape the octopus's skin with his claws, hopeful for blood. Never know what could be attracted by blood.
Merek
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Merek of course would drink the potion which he keeps with him, which means that makes this a lot easier, which he provided to a lot of the party as well. When they come upon enemies to fight, the man takes a look and will draw his sword to begin swinging that along through the water while he nods to the party.
Cyrus
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Joining with Mikage, Cyrus finds that he can't just throw potions in this battleground. In fact, he's at quite the disadvantage in the waters in general. Luckily, he's got a technique that partially aids with this.

Nodding to her, he remains close to the humanform Were Fang and takes out multiple slim potion flasks, and points them forward. Air magic then takes over, launching them towards the smaller creatures on approach, but it quickly becomes apparent that he's having trouble adjusting to the underwater battle, as the potions shatter off-target and detonate too close to the ground.
Eliza
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Eliza had never been down here before; as she looks around in awe at the submerged city, she's glad she took the time to join the group. Of course, underwater exploration is a lot different from what she's used to, even with a waterbreathing potion in effect, but that's part of the appeal. She decides to stay close to her guildmate Rizadoman for now. She hasn't really been in the loop in the particular quest going on, but it looks as though the werefang with the trident knows what her job is here.

She's about to begin to sing to boost her allies' abilities, when she finds a sphere of silence has drowned out her voice. Looking a bit surprised, she decides to change tactics. Being underwater makes it easy to do ice spells, right? So she reaches up with her shepherd's crook, creating icicles that shoot toward the plankton.

Miho's rapid volley of arrows have a harder time sailing through the water. She has to really pull hard, and each release sends her partially back again. It's a lot harder to stay stable underneath the water, and firing a bow isn't something one does casually beneath the waters. Arrow after arrow sink into the thick tendrils of the Octopus as it raises them to protect itself!

Some of the Planktons are blown away by Shiruba's sea spray, sending them crashing back against a few pillars. One of them hitting a Marine Sphere, which immediately detonates in a concaving explosion, which almost devours Mikage's arrow. Luckily, the Dawnbreaker's arrows are enhanced by the gem set into it, protecting the arrow and causing it to stab into the Octopus' massive rear body! But those Marine Sphere explosions are clearly no joke!

Rizadoman gets in there soon after, slicing his claw along the body of the Octopus. The Big Tako trembling from the damage it is receiving. A red glow rising into the waters, through which Merek swims and slices the octopus. Cyrus' detonations have no such luck, but Jazuhanzu as an Undine makes up for that with her attack, and Eliza picks up the Cait Sith's slack by freezing the Plankton right in the middle of their tracks!

It isn't long after that Rizadoman gets his wish though. Two large sharks suddenly swim into the chambers, biting through the red glowing mist, and try to bite at his arm. The other making a quick round around the arena, trying to find the nearest person to bite their head off!

The enormous Octopus moves its weird snout up, forming a bloated and engorged space at the base of it for a moment, before a violent jet of black liquid fires out, rushing from target to target with enough force to slice into some of the stone pillars!
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

A series of bubbles filter up out of Mikage's mouth, though the sound of surprise that would likely come, were they not under a silence spell, never realizes. She stares, wide-eyed as a shark comes barreling in her direction, forcing her to try to swim away, to little avail.

The shark latches onto her leg, causing an expression of pain as she turns, kicking out with the other leg to strike it once, twice, three times in the head. Once freed, teeth marks are visible on her leg, as well as a lingering trail of blood in the water.

Pushing aside the pain of salt water in a wound, Miki slashes her fingers through the surrounding water, forming three whirling blades that seem to be like miniature storms. They linger for a moment before she sends them out, slamming them into the shark and hoping that will be enough to discourage it from taking a second bite.
Merek
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Merek will swing along into the tako again, this time with the flame upon his weapon. Instead of fire, that will create a steam that begins to strike into it.
Rizadoman
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Rizadoman got his wish it seems, as the dire shark swims in to attack him, Rizadoman blocks a shark the best way he knows how. With a punch to the nose. The lizardman understood, this was a monster's realm, the monsters lived in a certain type of way here. All this understanding is what led Rizadoman to allow the lizard side of his brain to take over and do what monsters do in this situation. Yes that is right, while the shark may have tried to bite Rizadoman, Rizadoman does his best to return the favor and bite the shark.
Shiruba
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

When the Tako sweeps his ink blast across the room Shiruba uses her own elemental magic to draw more of the surrounding water around her, strengthening the bubble breathing spell already on her into a physical barrier that dilutes and deflects some of the spray when it blasts across it.

Having the bubble around her gives Shiruba a chance to consider a different tactic as she draws one of her Earth imbued arrows from her quiver. She'll just use her magic to make her archery work under water if need be, as she fires the shot at the floor beneath the Fat Tako's position upon the Dias. Several spikes of stone erupt from the spot, in an effort to catch the octopus from below and the impact start to loosen it's grip from their intended prize.
Jazuhanzu
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Underwater levels.

Jazz *hates* underwater levels. This isn't something she's made a secret of. In fact, she's talked about it in front of those present at least a time or two. This is reinforced by the shark bite, in fact, that she receives trying to get through the gauntlet. There were, in fact, considerably twee-and-anime sounds of pain from here, alongside a bit of lightning delivered to the shark's nose to drive it back from her. Clutching her side and leaking a bit of blood, she catches back up with the others. "Guh."

This is not helping her dislike of water levels.
Eliza
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Eliza covers herself in a hard rock shell to guard against the octopus' ink blast, before turning her attention to the sharks. Thinking along the same lines as Rizadoman, she readies her crook and gives the selachimorph a good whack with it alongside his punch, before watching as her reptilian ally goes for a bite attack.
Cyrus
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Cyrus is having no luck. His drenched body is a bit slow on the move, and his bulkier clothing slows him down as he tries to move out of the way of one of the ink beams coming his way. He tries to duck out of the way at the last moment, but with nothing to push off against, he ends up getting struck and knocked down to the walls!

He grunts, rubbing his head, and gets back up, pushing off and moving towards a nearby pillar, trying to use it as a way to get some cover from those sharks and the big tako, as he pulls out another bottle and tries to send it rocketing at some of the Marine Spheres, hoping to detonate them before they become more dangerous using more of his air magic infused in those alchemist bottles.
Miho
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Miho has super human strength this would be impossible on earth, here? It hard but posisble she strain herself and maybe she'll have to end up going up close. As much as she's loathed to do so. She's not got much choice. She will mvoe in but will make use of hit and run tactics as best she cain against the horrible thing from the deep! "We're going to have this thing cooked up for dinner! When we are doing with it!"

Whirling blades cut through the waters, creating small concave regions as they rend towards the enemies. They carry Cyrus' bottles in their way, pulling on them and making them travel at higher speeds, delivering them to some of the Marine Spheres. Mikage's slashes however keep traveling after the initial detonation, tearing into her targetted shark and detonating it into the usual monster-defeating glow!

Closer to the big Octopus, Merek slashes his steaming blade into its tentacle, causing a burst of steam on contact, which sends him back, slamming into the Shark. This causes the Shark to move within range of Rizadoman's claws, as he leans in and digs his large Lizardman bite into its body and tears down into it, chunking its health with a Were Fang's ferocity! This however quickly turns this flavor into 'lightningingly' as Jazuhanzu lightning-punches it, making Rizadoman's tongue and jaw numb. Eliza's mighty strike then finishes it off, shattering it into pearls of light!

A similar ferocity to Rizadoman's biting attack is shown in the stone spikes and pillars that rise up from the ground, ripping through and against the Octopus' tendrils, seperating them from the Dias! The stone goes flying in that moment, coming loose from the thing, and begins to shine a bit! A rather bright and dangerous signal for the team! Detonations playing across the battlefield, ripping into parts of its tentacles as Cyrus' potions activate the Marine Spheres dangerously close to its body! Using the concave regions of detonations blinding the Octopus from her position, Miho keeps moving in and out between the strikes, tearing into it with her weapon!

After which the Octopus suddenly raises its tendrils, bringing them in, trying to snatch the now glowing crystal, while suddenly breathing out a pitch black smoke of oil that starts clinging to people, trying to slow them down and poison them!
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

With the shark no longer an immediate threat, Mikage can bubble a sigh of relief. There is a certain lack of grace to her fighting here under water, and she is missing the support of her animal companion, which seems to be reducing her DPS output and her defenses.

However, she does have remarkable accuracy, which helps when the monster you are fighting is trying to make itself unseen. Drawing another arrow, she grips her hand over the relic stone in her bow, charging it with her own elemental energy which seems to wrap around the tip of the arrow before she fires.

It flies through the ink, seemingly seeking the target and exploding with a barrage of storm energy that creates a vortex around the creature, attacking with air and water damage.
Merek
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Merek looks to the marine spheres while he takes a moment to consider. The man takes a potion from the belt which he wears to begin throwing that into area, which then explodes with flame that shimmers along in the water, looking then to the shark which he put in the path of the party.
Rizadoman
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

The lizardman had a great idea , he could protect himself and get a breath of air at the same time. So as the tar and oil begin to surround him he quickly raises a shield AND....traps the poisonous cloud in the same air space of him. Quickly Rizadoman pops his own bubble and seems to be choking underwater batting wildly at the sealife as he franticly retrieves a potion of air quickly using it. Moving himself back away from danger , he spends this round mainly catching his breath. That was closer then he liked to admit.
Shiruba
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Shiruba curses, though it will never be heard, as that worked a little too well and the combined assault got both the Fat Tako and the Blue Gem off the Dias. She trusts this team to realize what they need to do, though. She switchs elemental energies, releasing a surge of fiery heat into her previous bubbly barrier that causes it to burst into a great plume of superheated steam. The surge of evaporation pushes outward, intercepting the oily ink and dispersing it away from her. Though it remaings clinging in the waters around them to still be a vision hazard as the Fat Tako tries to reclaim the gem.

Not so fast there, Squiddly Diddly.

Shiruba draws another arrow, one of the ones she's had Miho specifically craft for her, in her bow. Then activates the magical nature of her bow to inbue it with a specific type of Air magic, and fires it into the inky murk.

It actually doesn't matter if she succeeds in hitting the octopus directly. The specific nature of that arrow and aetheral combination makes the arrow vibrate with enough intensity that it pulses a resonating frequency as it shoots through the water. And as it turns out, water transmits wavelengths very well, meaning it only needs to pass close to Fat Tako to blast it with the resulting shockwave.
Eliza
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Eliza's wind-powered speed boost came out more like an ocean current, but it worked well enough to propel her away from the oil cloud. The glow of the stone as it left its place was concerning though. Someone should definitely get that!

Eliza doesn't go for the gem herself, though. Instead she continues to focus on reducing the threat of the smaller creatures, using thorny vines to restrain some of the Marine Spheres.
Jazuhanzu
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

"Set days since I wished I was based on a Mantis Shrimp to Zero," says Jazz. She's still bleeding from the bite she received, but she's able to close in on the octopus for the moment. This is the single most important thing she's done since the Apocalypse and she desperately doesn't want to screw it up. "ONE TWO THREE DEATH," she squeaks at the creature, channeling a blast of pulsing water through the ocean current directly at it. She has to try. She may not be the greatest warrior, or most skilled player, but she has to try. Everyone is here on account of what she wanted to do, after all. Her hands held together to see the likely minimal impact, she t urns towards the others, watching the fight briefly. Her eyes are a lambent yellow here in the dim lighting of the ocean and then she whirls back. She may hate underwater levels, but she still seems to know how to move prettyh well in one.

Then again, perhaps that just goes with being a Sea-Witch.
Cyrus

Cyrus, spotting the glowing gem thanks to Shiruba's call, quickly tries to rocket towards it. Giving up on his support, he recognize the danger such a glowing signal spells under the potentially watchful eye of the enormous Leviathan that coils around this fallen city! Trying to shift his legs as fast as he can, reaching for it with one hand, hoping to get there before the Octopus can!

As Mikage's elemental magic carries through the water, it forms large eddies that swallow up the ink around them, turning from a brilliant stormy arrow to that of a black and almost poisonous looking one. It slams against the body of the Octopus, tearing away a chunk of its health, but not as much as she might have expected. The ink seemingly keeping it safe from some of the damage coming in.

Another shark then suddenly comes in, clearly summoned by the blood left behind by the continuous attack on the Octopus! Detonating from point to point as Merek unleashes his attack. At least it stops the new shark from reaching Rizadoman, as he tries to avoid choking out on the ink being spread out!

Shiruba's arrow, blasting and vibrating the waters, breaks down the ink just enough to restore sight a bit for some of the Adventurers. Right before one of the pulses slaps against the side of the Octopus, tearing into it and causing one of the nearby pillars to impale partially against its body! The thing wibbles and wobbles, showing pain, but unable to voice it!

Using this window of sight, Eliza's pale vines rush up, reaching for the Plantons which were attempting to get to people - their buzz-saw-like attack being halted by the plants, capturing and holding them! This stops them from interrupting Jazuhanzu, as her banshee-like pulse of water blasts outwards, rippling their Plankton bodies and tearing them apart second by second, shattering their little bodies along with the Marine Spheres, detonating the lot of them!

Cyrus tries to use this moment of seeing the gem to go forward in an attempt to grab it before the Octopus can get to it. But he has little such luck. The Octopus is far faster than him, laying the gem into its arm and grabbing hold of it, as it begins to lift it... towards the exit of the chamber! With such a brilliant glow, if it gets outside, it may very well alert the Leviathan of their assault.

But Miho's blade assault reaches the same tendril, pinning it against one of the pillars, and giving the Cait Sith the chance to get the Gem! Taking it into both hands, the catte ends up bumping against a pillar, as the Octopus suddenly releases its tendrils on the outsides of the building, and suddenly begins to SPIN.

Its tendrils slap and slam against the Adventurers. Trying to slam them to the ground, while the water starts to boil from the speed of its tendrils moving, creating constant bubbles of concave detonations. Yet it still manages to dedicate two of them to try and grab at Cyrus and drag the cat down and steal that gem back from him!
Rizadoman
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Rizadoman manages to gather up enough air to focus long enough to react to the incoming tendril as it smacks against him and while due to floating in water it does move him his HP doesn't move. As the dust and debris kicked up by the tendril settles in the place of the teal lizardman is a dragonman? No it's still the same old Rizadoman, just sporting dark red dragons scales instead of the usual lizardman scales. With a cocky grin his body shifts back, as he pulls out a lizard fang and drops it in the water. A magical circle appears around the fang and from it two skeleton lizardmen swim out and swim in to hold the octopus back. The ancestors of Rizadoman will most likely give their temporary bodies for the cause but it will be worth it.
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Seeing Cyrus jump into what is undoubtably the center of danger is enough to have Mikage's eyes widen. Likely being the one that dragged him into all of this, there is a certain level of responsibility for the Cait Sith. That, and her feelings for him are enough to make her unwilling to let him get killed on her behalf.

So, Miki utilizes her cloak, activating the special power on it to phase across the battlefield, closer to Cyrus. She throws herself in the way, taking some of the damage that might have otherwise dropped his health down.

Unable to communicate, she just looks behind her towards him, giving a worried expression before motioning with her head. Then, she grabs for his arm, pulling it around her waist. Then, she loads an arrow, channeling light magic into it as she fires it towards the octopus. Even if the shot is off target, it's more about using the force to push the two of them backwards, getting more distance between them and the boss monster.
Shiruba
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Yay, Cyrus got the stone!... But now he's in trouble. So is everyone else as the Fat Tako starts to spin and thrash. Shiruba activates a different protective spell, forming several icy barriers around herself and anchoring herself in place by freezing her feet to the floor. The flailing tendrils slam into the barrier, smashing some of the ice barriers but not the wolfgirl protecting herself with them.

But times like this, it's more than herself that Shiruba is aiming to protect. Shiruba grabs one of the remaining ice formations with her magic, using a combination of air and water force to send it hurtling at Fat Tako to knock him away from her friends and the blue stone like a long range shield bash to the face!
Merek

Merek keeps up with the defending, and eventually he will nod when it looks like all the general enemies are dealt with. Then he takes a look along to that Tako, and will lift up a hand to fireball into it with a blast of the steam that will strike into the enemy.
Jazuhanzu
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Honestly, while Jazz was glad to disrupt the plankton, the detonation of the spheres causes her to flutter back, staggered. Such devestation was not her intention!

... but it worked. Still, the concussive force that sent her spiralling end over end after the blast finished leaves her floating there for a moment, reeling, before rousing herself. She sees Cyrus has the stone, though, and there's great relief in her expression before she jerks back to righting herself, spiralling upwards with an Undine's natural underwater grace, leaving traces of blood behind her in the water, dress ripped and torn from shrapnel. No one tell Gwen or she'll see the chance for a replacement.

Jazz clasps her hands together in front of her and brings to bear her mightiest Arte!

... another torrent of water is gathered and forced through in a stream at the giant sea monster, slamming into it. It's not so effective in and of itself, of course, but it's rather what it delivers: tiny jellyfish. A lot of them, all with their stinging tentacles along one of its arms. The jellyfihs fall away after having performed their mission.

...they are very cute. They even have tiny smilies on their ...faces? Do jellyfish even have faces? Apparently, these ones do.
Eliza
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Eliza does a rather awkward underwater loop, flailing her limbs a bit before regaining control. Still, she evades the tentacles, at least. Righting herself, she spots Rizadoman preparing an attack alongside his ancestors. Wanting to help keep Cyrus safe, she decides to join him with a strike of her own. With fire magic, she heats up the end of her shepherd's crook and swims forward, aiming a heated prod at the octopus.
Cyrus
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Cyrus takes hold of Mikage as she gets close to him, after avoiding multiple attempts by the Octopus to grab him. A slash of a dagger in his boot required to get it to stop crushing one of his legs after an initial grab onto his body, hissing at the thing in anguish and anger. Luckily, the pain is heavily dampened. He can't even think what it would be like if their pain senses were as they are for the Landers.

Seeing Mikage take a strike for him, he opens his mouth, bubbles flying. No doubt calling out her name. But the Silence Field makes it all go unheard. Still, with him holding her, they soon go flying thanks to the passive blowback of her attack, and he's still holding that blue gem, holding onto it like his life depends on it.

For the Explorers and Pioneers!
Miho
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

Miho is doing all right she is able to pin one of the monster's tendrils allong some of her friend to make use of that opening and get the gem. That's good news, Miho look at the thing there' some leveo of dislike here. It's likely just due to it having tentacles. She will pull her blade free and then she tries something really dumb, she will attempt to end up heating up her weapon with a art she knows and try to drive the now heat sword into thing and maybe start the cooking process sooner...

It takes a great deal to hold back the powerful tendrils of the Octopus as it begins to spin. Rizadoman's skeletons being smashed to pieces after a long struggle, slowing its wind-up. But the strikes must come!

Its two tendrils reaching for Cyrus grab hold of his leg, starting to crush it, before Cyrus puts his dagger to use and cuts just enough apart to get let loose. Swimming around pillars and moving about, the two tendrils follow like heat seeking missiles for a while, before striking Mikage instead, who then uses her arrow to blow them away from the Octopus.

Just in time for the rest of the team to begin their retaliatory strike! Shiruba's icy strike slamming against the side of its head and dizzying it for a moment, breaking its guard! Merek's blazing steam-detonating fireball follows, bursting into its head and creating a large open gash of red light!

The creature is about to strike, when a wave of electricity seems to move it, as countless of small jellyfish press their little cute faces and tendrils against its body. If it had bones, there'd no doubt be some cutesy cartoonish outlike of it being electrified. But it's not really being electrified!

Being temporarily stunned like this, Eliza's fierce strike comes down on one of its tendrils that was reaching for Mikage and Cyrus, and detonates with a second steam explosion, ripping the tendril loose from its base and causing it to shatter in light! This gives Miho the chance she needs, sending her heated blade right into its exposed nose, her arms trembling as she drives it in for that last strike... and the Octopus shatters apart in its entirety!

And in that same moment, so does the Trident. The Silent Field failing just a few moments after the battle. Which means they need to get back, and they need to get back /fast/.
Mikage
Yamato - -3 - -3 - 0

As the octopus reaches out towards them, Mikage braces herself, ready to take the hit for Cyrus so he can escape. Then, it shatters into pixels just before reaching them. Her hear pounds in her ears at that, giving a grateful look towards the others as she and Cyrus float backwards.

In that moment that sound returns to them, she gives a small shake of her head. The sensation is a bit strange. But she keeps quiet, regardless. Patting Cyrus' hand, she motions towards the way out, and then towards the rest of the party, trying to get them to form up defensively. Even if they have escaped the octopus, they still have to get back around the Leviathan and through the dungeon.

The Archeologist in Shiruba cringes a little when the Trident also crumbles. But it did what they needed it to do... And some would argue being lost to performing it's purpose was more fitting fate than left to be displayed and never used.

No time to mull over it now. With the blue stone retrieved they need to get the holy hightail out of here. As the remainder of her frigid defense is fading Shiruba pulls her feet free, and turns to push off and start the long swim back to their passage to the surface.
Jazuhanzu

Jazz wishes she had more time to poke around this place. She really does. It's aching to be mapped. She'll have to do what she can from memory later, really, but for the moment it's time to *go go go go*.

With the trident crumbling and no doubt soon to reveal them to the Leviathan in waiting, she gesticulates wildly back the way they came and begins to kick off. Get. Out.

Yes, even her gesticulations are twee. Especially those.

Holding her hat to her head, she kicks wildly in the direction of the exit. Her swimming is very exuberantly animated, like the rest of her, her scales lighting up in a surefit of bioluminescent emotion.
Rizadoman

Rizadoman watches the octopus shatter into pixels and out of habit he is about to let out a roar of success when he notices that the trident is gone and swallows the air bubble containing his roar before it is heard. With a silent nod and thumbs up before swimming with all the might of his ancestors to get out of here before they learn what the inside of a leviathan looks like.
Eliza

"Goodbye, sea beasts," Eliza whispers with a bow of her head, before turning and following the rest away from the scene, as quickly as she can swim. Thankfully there's still time before the water breathing potion wears off.
Miho

Miho is not expecting to get the killing blow, she will not complain about it however she's pretty pleased about this she'll pull away as the thing dies. She then looks over ot Jaz and everyone else. "We should get going I don't want to linger here before something worse shows up. I also want to get dry..."
