Duty Session 323: Karluin Reclamation - Keep

With the goblin forces largely cleared out of the bulk of Karluin Castle Town, and without any means of penetrating the fortress' mysterious underground yet, the reclamation effort has now moved towards taking back the main keep at the city's easternmost side. But with the goblins backed into a corner, and their new leader surely commanding the keep's defenses personally, reclaiming the citadel will by no means be a small task. Still, the quest to clear Karluin at the Hunters Guild remains open, with a new list of terms promising salvage rights of the valuable loot hidden away within the castle's ancient coffers.

Difficulty:    Hard
Rec. Party:    5+
Rewards:       4
World Rewards: Progress on freeing Karluin

Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

To get away, some people go the beach. Others might take a break in a remote village, or hang out in an urban center of arts with plenty of shopping. The Baroness? She goes from her recently restored castle to a castle full of monsters. Some people just know how to have a good time!

She surveys Karluin Keep curiously, simply waiting for the party to form up. Despite her remarkably calm demeanor, she's eager, almost impatient. It's good to get out from behind the desk from time to time and put one's life at risk.

Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade has followed Wake from Eas, where she's been doing the construction thing, to Karluin. It's kind of a vacation. Kind of like a shopping trip, if you need a few monster drops. But here she is, kitted up and ready to go. "The weather's not as bad as outside, though. I'm glad of that. Never cared for winter," she idly remarks.

"On the other hand, this is computer winter and I've got as much fire magic as a person can have, so I'm not /too/ worried about cold."
June
Castle Eas

June's strange mood is past... how can you tell? She's looking like a dollar store Red Sonja again. Scale mail bikini, fur cape, sandles, hair tied back with a leather braid. All while being a somewhat frumpy looking middle aged woman. She grins and steals hugs from the other Sleeping Knights. If you can count on anything, it's Sleeping Knights backing each other up... and probably being weird about it.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

Coming out to a monster infested keep in order to relax and have some fun was definitely NOT Yuuki's idea. Definitely. Not. Nope. No way. Mmhmm. Why would you even think that?

Despite this, Yuuki is definitely here. She's leaning forward on a rock, hands up in front of her head like she's holding binoculars as she scouts out the castle in the distance. Though she doesn't actually have binoculars.

Yuuki suddenly perks up, "Oh! Oh! Idea! If we can capture this castle too, maybe we can sell it to the Scalies? I'm sure they'd love to use it." Yuuki gets a hug. Clearly because of her excellent idea.
Showtime
Castle Eas

Problems like this, tend to attract stray, the faceless masses, or people just here looking for something interesting. And that is where the Were Fang Showtime shows up, unfortunately for him, he might take a little more of an active role than a passive observer at this point, but for now at east, he is trying to keep close to the group, offering only the vaguest of nods, and wondering what exactly he had gotten himself into at this point.

Dressed in various cobbled together leathers, and bearing the skull-plate of a large dire beast on his left hand. Showtime just waits, with trepidation."Guess.. there would be a market for castles." Bailing is still an option hell murmur to himself worriedly.

Maybe.
Merek
Castle Eas

Merek nods a bit to people while he takes a look about, he seems to be equipped while he waits, "Alright, well let's see what we can do about it all!"
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

"That's so true. I always like hot over cold. Odd that I wound up living on a mountain. I won't exactly be feeling the heat very often, will I?"

Wake happily takes a hug from June. She loves her people. "June, I'm happy to see you are.." The Baroness pauses, seeking the right word. "Back to your usual self. Thank you for joining us!"

The suggestion from Yuuki earns a laugh. "I'm sure the Scale would love that. Give them a castle and maybe they'll get so distracted remodeling they can stop blowing things up for a bit. Of course, once they are done here.."

She rests her steady gaze on Showtime and glides into a graceful curtsey, "It is a pleasure to have you with us as well. I am the Baroness Wake of Eas. I come from the Fourland Dukedom."

Though she rather enjoys introductions, it is inevitable that the work must start. First stop is with the Scale Emblem itself, ironically enough. The alliance has taken pains to provide intel of all kinds, here for the sharing. There is no doubt an opportunity here to make life a lot easier. The question is, can the group sift through all of this and find the best way forward.

"Well, I must give them credit, the Scale Emblem is quite thorough, aren't they?" notes the Baroness.

Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade is overwhelmed by the volume of data and the lack of organization. "You know," she says, "They dig all this up, but it's virtually impossible so sort through. It's like it was organized by idiots." She looks over maps and monster sightings and lists of supplies. She sighs heavily, and looks over the same reports again, her expression still blank. It's not sinking in.
June
Castle Eas

June would normally be digging into the documents... only she's just spent a month with nothing but writing magic on her mind and so she picks up some of the maps and starts to study them. A mug of beer coming out of her inventory... who keeps mugs of beer in their inventory... not bottles, not skins, not even hogsheads... mugs... yup that's June. She sips her beer and looks at the maps "Oooooh hey found a way in that doesn't involve punching every goblin in the face... maybe..." she shrugs a bit "I mean it's kinda hidden but it seems to be where goblins are sneaking out, so we can sneak in... THEN punch the goblins in the face." she grins brightly at her fellow Knights and then takes another long pull of beer. Yah June's back to normal.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

"Well, they already have a castle, so I'd be surprised if another one got them to stop. But I'm more interested in the things we could buy for our own with that kind of money!"

Yuuki jumps to her feet, dusting off her knees before she starts walking with the others to meet up with the Scale Emblem forces in the area. Along the way she waves to a couple of the SEA members, apparently knowing them from somewhere. Until finally they wind up looking over a bunch of maps and intel reports and discussions of methods of entry come up.

"I think we should just charge in through the main gate. Sounds like more fun." Yuuki is apparently overruled.
Showtime
Castle Eas

There is a slight odd glance given towards the woman who is addressing so many folks, a smile then as he moves to rub at his chin, "Miss, uh Barroness, Don't mind me or nothin, just gonna focus on myself, and uh, hopefully if I can do that, I'll help yah."
Showtime
Castle Eas

It seems though that Showtime has to help a little bit in unexpected ways, and honestly? Sometimes you just have to point at a place on a map, or climb up a suspiciously accessible wall and hope to not get attacked Sure it might get them all killed, but that's the thing. It might! And Showtime, the lucky dog, has managed to do something rather impressive- guess his way into the way forward. "What I'm seein is that this here, uh... point on the wall? Just toss some ropes up there, and we'll be right in without anyone noticin, I guarantee it." Probably.
Merek
Castle Eas

Merek looks along and nods a bit to a bit of writing which he finds, "Well that looks like it might, that's the writing which means what it means," the man notes.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

Wake's attempt at making sense of the maps is politely ignored by the Scale Emblem personnel. Being a noble has its perks. Unfortunately for Wake, succeeding at things she has no aptitude for is not among those perks. Still, it's an easy enough mistake to make, not knowing which way is up.

Goldenblade and Yuuki are also unable to make headway. Honestly, though, it seems that Yuuki's heart wasn't really in the whole 'avoiding goblins at the front gate' concept. There's a ton of information here, but in a way that is more of a problem than a blessing in this case.

The team is blessed with a mix of talent and fortune among its other members, though. June is able to sift through the maps and find a useful clue as to the location of what certainly appears to be a hidden path by which goblins might be pummeled. Showtime's findings provide further guidance as to the way in, and what Merek is able to discern from the copious notes is exactly what the party needs to reach the next area.

As it turns out, the goblins are coming out under the main bridge, which explains some of the rope usage. Of course, it's not as if the secret entrance is easy to find. The group must now detect it, ensure the entry is safe to use from the outside (as opposed to causing a bridge to collapse on their heads), and deal with any locking mechanism that might be found.

Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade eyes the terrain and the building around where the bridge opens onto, and there is, indeed, a wicket gate sort of arrangement. She deftly identifies the weak points in the construction and works out the easiest way to access it. It's a bit complicated, but eventually she gets it done without too much problem.
Showtime
Castle Eas

Sometimes you don't have to be good, you just have to be lucky, which again, is something that Showtime continues to practice and live in every moment of this expedition. The Were Fang moving to stand on the side of the moat/bridge almost looking about, leaning forward before nearly stumbling, catching glimpse of something suspicious which he will then point out, "SO uh, ya'll see that there? Looks.. like a mighty suspicious cave or something, a secret entrance maybe? Or an ambush point?" Beyond that though he'll look rather sheepish for even speaking up then as he withdraws to the side to let others do the work deciding the way forward. "Or we still goin over?" Indecision!
Yuuki
Castle Eas

Yuuki doesn't seem too bothered by the lack of head on charge. She's clearly confident that there will be further opportunities later for killing goblins. So for now she follows the others towards this secret path that appears to have been discovered.

Climbing under the bridge, they come to what looks to be how the goblins have been getting in and out without being discovered. Kind of surprising that the Scalies didn't already know about this. They must be slipping.

Unfortunately, the way through is blocked off. Locked. Yuuki's eyes shine as she says, "I've got this." She reaches for her sword...

Then past it around her back, before pulling out a small set of lockpicking tools. She kneels down, getting to work on the locking mechanism. It doesn't take long before there's a satisfying *click* as Yuuki succeeds. Standing and grinning triumphantly, "No lock is going to keep me from a castle raid!"
June
Castle Eas

June finishes her beer up and drops the empty mug into her inventory. Now the real question is... did she BUY the mug... or just the beer in it and then steal the mug... and how many empty dirty mugs are in her inventory?

She follows along after Golden, and then she shifts. Iron scales fold up along her limbs and body in a ripple of metalic flashing leaving her standing on hooves, and with her iron bovine head sporting iron horns. She follows Goldenblade's instructions just leaning her unnatturally strong muscles to the task with the gate.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

Thank goodness for a lock! Of course, first it must be found. That is where Merek comes in. Or at least he tries to come in. As it turns out, what he finds is not the secret entrance, but a cunningly-made fake. There is a team here for a reason, though. Once more Showtime is there to provide crucial assistance, and he is able to detect the door from just the right vantage point. Perhaps it looked like a good place to take a nap?

"Quite well done, sir," observes Wake. "Now we just need to.." But before Wake can do anything with the lock, Yuuki is already on it. When the lock opens, the Baroness looks-for just a fraction of a second-disappointed. "You know, I make a point of not killing boss mobs before you get to swing, Yuuki. Sleeping Knight courtesy!" A moment's recollection, "Well, I mean recently, anyway. The Blue Spider Dungeon was my last one. Practically a one off." Except for all the other times she snuck ahead and came back with the loot while everyone else was still clearing the path. Or simply never told anyone and snuck through a whole raid dungeon by herself.

Regardless... It's of course not enough to simply open the door. At least, unless one doesn't mind having a few tons of stone crashing down on one's head. This is where Goldenblade and June come in. There are numerous fail points around the secret gate and each has to be dealt with. A mixture of great care and considerable muscle power both prove critical.

You know, sometimes secret gates are best left closed. It is immediately clear that this is no tip toe through the tulips. Just setting foot inside sets off the first trap. Fortunately the deadly dart was poorly-aimed and clatters uselessly into the wall. This dank tunnel is full of traps. As if the /smell/ wasn't bad enough!

Merek
Castle Eas

Merek looks about a little and tries to search, though he's not that great with that, all the same when he walks along with the party, he will nod when they succeed and will take the time to begin assisting and waiting.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

"Well, you know. I would have waited for you. But we don't have all day, old lady!"

Yuuki joins the others in diving into this underground dungeon. For a secret entrance that's supposedly easier than charging the main gate, this has been a pretty difficult approach so far.

Made only more difficult by sudden TRAPS!

It's true that a keen eye to spot the traps and a sure step to avoid setting them off would be a good way to get through unharmed...

Or you could just be really fast.

Yuuki just off and runs forward, no doubt setting off a bunch of the traps as she does so. But her reaction times prove just as fast as her speed as she ducks, leaps, twirls and weaves her way around the aggressive traps until she is past them.
June
Castle Eas

June starts her way down the tunnel, showing off... dancing between the darts, avoiding them by a hair, letting them glance off scales. The bull woman makes it all the way unscathed... then shifts back to human and bows with an impish grin. "And that is how you do it." she says turning, and steps on a trigger that sends multiple darts into her now unarmored hide. "And... that's how you waste a heal...Junie you know better, what is wrong with you... never shift back after the enemy is engaged and traps count remember." she punches herself in the temple a few times as she speaks in Elvish... which is anoyingly (for her) translated by the system for everyone.

She flashes a pulse of light magic through her body the wounds healing even as she berates herself.
Showtime
Castle Eas

A nap? Sounds like an excellent idea, but at least for the time being, things are a little too dangerous to close ones eyes. Unless it is cowering in fear, or slinking along the side of a wall, watching some crazy lady just run through the dangerous traps. Not Showtime No no no, take it slow, very slow, one foot at a time, "I'mma say we go with slow n'steady. Or you can go first, Ma'am." He'll admit, even as again, through a mixture of skill, and no small amount of luck- and not going first, Showtime makes it. He tries not to look back at those who were not so fortunate.
Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade is quite useful at finding the access points for the way forward, but finding the safe way to go, not so much. Several HP down, she stumbles along with the rest of the party, who seem to have weathered the challenge much better than she, and she looks up with a weary and slightly apologetic look.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

The traps don't harm Yuuki, but Wake just might! Even with darts and blades and clouds of poison dust, Wake is right on her friend's tail. She doesn't seem to walk through the tunnel, though. She simply is in one shadow, then another, and another. Fast as this may be, Yuuki is faster still. While stealth is ostensibly the point of all of this, Wake's voice is hardly quiet.

"Come back here, Yuuki! I'll show you how 'old' I am!"

Behind this mess of activity that is somehow effective, Showtime follows more conventional approach to getting down a deadly tunnel. He avoids traps, rather than trying to simply set everything off and race through. At least the two crazy Sleeping Knights did empty quite a few deadly traps of their payloads. This is probably why Merek isn't even hit by a dart when he steps in the wrong place. Sadly, June isn't quite as fortunate. On the plus side, it is just a heal, right? No doubt as a Sleeping Knight, she's used to these antics now and faced far worse. Joining June in the land of missing HP is Goldenblade, who takes a few hits from the remaining traps along the way.

Getting past the tunnel leads to a weird chamber of blocks, some with torches. There are glphys and symbols on the ceiling and-quite frankly-a most distressing lack of things to punch. Someone should complain to the manager! Regardless, there are blocks to push and something of a puzzle to figure out.

Showtime
Castle Eas

Pushing. Pulling. This... this is what you need manual labor for right? And Showtime at least can do this without fear. As long as there arn't goblins about trying to murder him. Which isn't certain. So there is always a suspicious glance over his shoulders, even as he just follows instructions, whatever they may be to solve what is... well its a puzzle right? No complaints, just pushing. He just quietly thanks his stars they don't have to fight anything.
Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade is given the relatively easy task of lighting the torches, and she's able to do that with ease, sending flames to each of them with a negligent wave of her hand. They all manage to spring to life at once, though one gutters a bit before catching fully to life. She's not sure exactly how this plays into the way the room is arranged, but it wouldn't be a very good puzzle if it were obvious, would it? And some of the party seem to have figured it out completely, leaving Goldenblade to simply do the simple task.
June
Castle Eas

June steps into the room. "Oooooooh." and she's gone. Just gone. The short barbarian princess wanabe has out a notebook, pen, a little lamp with a glowing light crystal in it. Then she's writing down all of the glyphs to add to her collection of puzzle glyphs. Then she's organizing them and sitting on the floor chewing the end of her pen, another mug of beer... really how does she even manage the way she's drinking? A small medalion comes up from her cleavage in one hand, a flick of her finger and the disk splits into rings that start to spin independantly. Little glyphs on the rings, soft symbols glow like moonlight as a soft ringing sound like a glass harp playing from the rings as she works out patterns and finaly stands up draining the mug to drop into her inventory. "There we are... okay folks." she starts giving clear and concise instruction on where the pillars need to be and where the torches need to be to trigger the door.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

Yuuki is simply laughing as she outruns Wake.

    Right into a block.

Yuuki grunts as she's knocked back by the sudden impact, falling onto her ass. She rubs her face a bit before looking up at the offending block, "Who put this here!?"

Standing up, Yuuki has definitely started to notice the severe lack of goblins to stab in this route. IS there a manager? She'd like to stab it. Unfortunately not, the room is just empty. Apart from blocks. Some of which have torches.

Yuuki's gamer senses are telling her this is a puzzle room. This is clearly a job for...

    June!

Yuuki waits until the best bookworm the Sleeping Knights have is able to decipher the instructions, before she starts lighting torches with a flaming sword while others begin moving them into place.
Merek
Castle Eas

Merek looks along and will assist while he takes the time to make for the next place to assist. The man takes a look about then will lift up a hand while lighting up the place.
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

Wake is really not having a great duty so far. She's kind of ice cold on a lot of these challenges and Yuuki called her old. Grrrr! There will be payback, of course. But it will have to come when Yuuki isn't ready for it. Probably there will be ice stuck in undergarments. That's a classic for these kind of petty squabbles. Being a Baroness isn't all serious business, after all.

Once again, Showtime proves his worth. By moving really heavy blocks around. It's not glamorous, sure, but this place hasn't been the center of glorious conflict yet, in any case. It's about passing the tests, after all. Showtime nails it!

Another vital matter is the lighting of the torches. This is something that Goldenblade, Merek, and Yuuki are all handling quite well. Lots of fire flying around! This is done in a specific order, of course. Which is where June comes in. She's totally owning the whole dungeon drinking game. Not to mention the fact that she's figured out the puzzle and added to her collection. From a Sleeping Knight perspective, the collection is really more important than the winning. It probably doesn't make sense to anyone else, though.

"You know, this has me thinking," says Wake in a rather strained voice. She's trying to move a block, but she's not doing it right. Somehow. It's complicated.

"How many beers is your record, June?"

And look, presto! Another passage. With no monsters. Not even so much as a friggin' cockroach to stomp on. In any case, there's a tunnel, a climbing shaft, and a wall with light coming out. Sorry, make that a lot of light. Like a death laser. Which seems to set of yet more magical death lasers. And these clearly can't be punched, either.

Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade acks at the death laser, and will use her mad ninja skills, which Wake's somewhat familiar with, to vanish from their perception. Moving subtly, she hides from the magic attacks, using the shadows to avoid their counterattacks, slinking forward past them with sly moves rather than speed.
Showtime
Castle Eas

Showtime for his part has, well... a rather more nefarious and simple way of getting through a bunch of pressure plates, traps and the like.. taking from his bag the corpse of a small animal, he will give it a light toss, and have it lead the way!

Macabre? Yes. Effective? Also yes!

It is slow going of course, because every lazer trap triggered requires careful gathering of.. well.. lets not get inappropriate here. Needless to say, at least it works? And its a lot less stressful for Showtime.
June
Castle Eas

June shrugs "In a raid? In a dungeon? Or just like... before I fall over?" she says as the wall disapears. Then she shifts for BATTLE! Only to find herself with a long trapped hallway full of lasers. She starts sprinting, hooves crashing into the ground with a clatter of iron on stone. As she runs she tosses up walls of earth between her and the blasting light. Until she's not able to keep up with the blasts and she gets tossed down the rest of the halway hooves over horns as she bounces along ending in a smoking heap, the edges of her scales and horns glowing red... it's a good thing she's a wearfang or she'd probably be respawning right now.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

They might not be able to be punched. But swording them appears to work. Quite well too, if Yuuki's progress is any indication.

Indeed, a dark wind as rushed up to engulf the Imp, before she concentrates the majority of it on her sword. Then as she makes her descent, she's swinging her blade left and right as bolts of light are fired at her. Yuuki's dark-encased blade fights back against the menacing light, dampening the power of the shots to practically torchlight levels!
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

"I think a raid.. didn't you once empty your inventory, June?"

But then the lasers are there, screwing up everything.

"I wanted a normal vacation! Where I show up and put my fist through monsters' heads!" shouts Wake. Somehow she can be annoyed and still these traps. Mostly through her usual shadow trickery. She does have a way of flowing from one to another. Along the way, she smiles at Goldenblade, "I love it when you are sneaky! Oh, forgive me.. I'm still trying to strangle Yuuki! Pardon me.."

She probably wouldn't do that. She loves Yuuki. Which is why they fight like an old married couple. An old married couple that stabs a lot of orcs, goblins, zombies, vampires, and so on. It's important for friends to share hobbies.

Besides, Yuuki is still to bloody fast for Wake to catch. Sure, Wake can dart right past Merek and his earth magery, but she can't catch her target. You'd think that being short would lend itself to a less than blazing fast person. But the champ just keeps moving, managing to cut light along the way. Even the best of Jedi would be envious.

While the group is moving through, they may not have time to notice that Showtime has found the most remarkable use of a wascally wabbit. By the time the lasers are done, it'll probably we hard to recognize!

At last, the party reaches the end of the race. They end up face to face with red version of the Silver Surfer. Who appears to have stolen his weapons from a mega man game. Or the Australian outback. How odd. Regardless, he's fast as can be and has endless boomerangs. They're bahYOOOOOtiful weapons. But dangerous, too!

Merek
Castle Eas

Merek lifts up a hand while he uses the magic Earth while he maneuvers to escape from the laser, while he takes the time to nod to people.
Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade acks at the boomerang boss! She's got no idea about Silver Surfers, red or otherwise. Or about whatever Megaman is. But she can box the boss's agile movements in with her patented fiery dodge that leaves trails of flame on the ground. The flames box it in surprisingly effectively, which may allow the party to do what it needs to do!
Showtime
Castle Eas

Got a good thing going, keep it up right? Unfortunately for Showtime, the corpse that he manages to find for his next trick? Well it may not be so quick. Sure it can swing its arms around, flail and lead the way, but I mean... how often does a zombie go down before its just a pile of bones? Showtime is finding this out.
o further compound this failure, Showtime has just started to find that out, even as he is cowering behind his shield slightly, peeking through the eye holes of the skull plate of the rather large skull he is using to protect himself, using magic to direct his uh... undead friend. It leaves much to be desired.
June
Castle Eas

June gets back to her feet. She shakes her head "That was a good raid." she says answering Wake's question like she didn't just get blasted by a giant laser before a boss fight. She rolls her neck and starts to pray. "Blessed Burning one, fill me with light that I may crush the darkness under hoof. Bring me the power, and purity to burn away all before me." she lifts the amulet she used before and flicks it, the rings starting to spin, the hum of the glass harp starting to play. Then she draws her fingers into iron clad fists, her horns shining with light. She charges into the combat, somehow always just to the side of where the speedy boss is going to run, slashing it with a horn or pummeling it with an iron fist. She keeps this up as she snaps from place to place in short runs that always leave her somehow just ahead of the much faster boss.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

"Yeah, where ARE all the monsters? We haven't seen one since we got here. IS THERE NOTHING DOWN HERE THAT CAN CHALLENGE US?"

Yuuki's call is met by a crescent boomerang whipping towards her. The Imp dives to the side, coming up on one knee to look at the strange looking boss. Said mechanical monstrosity begins moving fast. Very fast.

    Not fast enough!

Yuuki dashes off, chasing after the boss. Before she leaps towards it, arms outstretched! If she can just grab hold of it, she can stop its movements and let the others get in some attacks!

And Yuuki does indeed manage to grab onto the robotic speedster!

Unfortunately her plan doesn't go quite as expected...

Instead of pinning it to a single spot, Yuuki is simply pulled along by the boss, crying out in surprise as she holds on for dear life. At least her added weight is probably slowing it down some?
Merek
Castle Eas

Merek will begin to try to use his magic on it, and it looks like he will succeed in assisting the party with taking care of the construct!
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

If there's one thing that Wake really loves, it's a fight. Well, no, not really. What she really loves is her fiance. And her friends. Even if she really wants to torment Yuuki for calling her old. Again. Maybe this, plus a heavy lack of recent conflict is why Wake's magic is roughly as effective as yelling 'You suck!' at the boss. But the magic is sparkly. Until a boomerang forces the Baroness to duck for cover behind Showtime's shield.

"Fancy meeting you here, friend," she says in a forced-casual tone.

Once again, it's other people who are covering the bases while Wake practices 'alternative effectiveness'. Goldenblade has the boss more and more trapped with each clever use of her fiery dodge. June calls upon the powers of divination to continually stay one step ahead of the enemy, to the point where it's speed is no longer a blessing, but merely a source of yet more damage as it keeps meeting powerful strikes of horn and fist every time it tries to attack or evade. Showtime's zombie thing.. well yeah, Showtime's shield is really a helpful place for Wake to hide behind! No doubt there's some kind of strategy involved in this.

Meanwhile, Yuuki is doing what Yuuki always does. She's managed to throw a tackle hug on the boss. Which works really well with friends but appears to be somewhat unhelpful on the red robot guy. Clearly he didn't get a heart from the Wizard of Oz.

But hey, Merek's magical attack finishes matters up in one neat blast. The boss dies in a burst of pixels and (most importantly) loot!

Showtime
Castle Eas

"Gah, What? Where did you come from Ma'am?" The man nearly screams aloud and nearly drops his guard before again resuming it, to hide until well, all the chaos is done. "Don't sneak up on a man like that, Gonna get yourself killed! Or me. Honestly more concerned bout me, but yes." He'll mutter then as he shakes his head quickly and coughs then.

Then things are safe. Safer at least, and he'll scramble away to compose himself, and get to looting. Sure there are elemental shards, but bones. He's off looking at limbs, bones, heads (skulls) consiering them with very studious intensity.

After his rather curious and dark expedition, of looking over their odd kill, and taking whatever body parts seem satisfactory, he'll wander off, to continue his work.
Goldenblade
Castle Eas

Goldenblade looks around in the aftermath, admits, "The last time I was here, I wasn't ready for -that-. But that was pretty cool." She grins, eyes the other adventurers. "All's well that ends well, though, right?" she chuckles. "But for now, we ought to scram."
June
Castle Eas

Sits on the ground and produces another beer to drink. "Whew... it's hard to fight when you can't move as fast as you think." she says the rings having stopped sometime in the fight. She doesn't really explain what she means but it's June, Godesses know what goes through her head. She takes another swallow of beer as the light fades from her horns and scales... also peole get an education on how a bull would drink from a beer mug... mostly it involves stuffing lots of thick tongue into the beer and pouring it into her mouth by tipping her whole head back.
Yuuki
Castle Eas

Yuuki grunts as she falls face first to the ground, the boss she had been clinging to now turned into pixels of light.

Yuuki sits up and laughs, "Well, that'll teach him for trying to out speed US!" She gives some thumbs up the group before she rises to her feet and starts brushing herself off after her fall.

Though as Goldenblade mentions scramming, Yuuki looks a little disappointed, "There wasn't nearly enough mobs in this quest... Can we go storm the main gate now?"
Baroness Wake
Castle Eas

"Sorry, Yuuki. Maybe we can take the wrong way back to Eas and fight some mobs on a desert island on our way! You remember that one time I got trapped by sirens? For like, three hours?"

Wake has a lot of stories. Many of which aren't nearly as amazing as the old stories about her made them seem.

"And June, you better not pass out of me, dear. The way I'm playing today, I'll probably fail to carry you."
June
Castle Eas

June snorts and stands up draining her beer mug and dropping it into her inventory. "I'm not going to pass out... pfff... barely managed a buzz, too many traps not enough fights, but hey at least there was a glyph puzzle to add to my collection." she says with a grin, slapping an ofuda onto her chest, which burns away with glowing light healing the iron scaled cowgirl.

"Well, that sounds like something we /really/ need to fix. June finished a duty without even a buzz?! You know, we have some pretty nice sake back at Eas. I'm sure we can go way passed tipsy, if you are interested."

Wake grins in a quite mischievous way. That's a grin that hasn't been seen since the Apocalypse. It's generally an indicator of bad choices in the making.

"So we take a bad shortcut, fight some monsters, have a great time, and then show up at the castle. Tae will no doubt have a meal ready to go for us when we get there.."

If that lead-in is any indication, the Sleeping Knights are off to have another of their legendary adventures. Some of them might even remember it...
