The Forges Are Alight

In which Giganpor and Miho get up to forging mischief and try to not burn Dun Loireag down.

Giganpor
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Having finally made it back from the Land of Dragons mostly for supplies and other such, Giganpor realized he had a long overdue promise to keep to a fellow smith. That had resulted in his return to Dun Loireag as well as contacting the Arch Mage and gaining her consent to show something that had, in a way, cemented Giganpor's eventual journey to armor forging in the future.

The new location was far, far out of the way. More so than anything else in Dun Loireag as it almost seemed like the area was old. Extremely so. The building caves and misty waters haven't been disturbed in a long time at least, even by the standards of those races that are old enough. It is there that Giganpor waits for the moment.

And for once, he can do away with his armor since it's in the city safe zone, too! His usual outfit has him near the edge of the walkway, looking down at the mist covered waters and possibly deep in thought.

He did make a promise, however, and so contacted Miho to give her the location to meet him at.
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho has been making ready-to-go to help support the effort there herself when Giganpor got ahold of her. It has been very good timing really. She had a lot to talk to Giga about namely getting smithing supplies over there and to get some basic forges set up to help support the effort. She would have dropped everything when she found out about what Giga had contacted her for. She was there in her own smithing gear and bounced up to the werefang. 5R
"Giganpor hey! o/~" She seems to be bouncing in place at this, the small lizard lady is very excited and he tail is swishing pretty fast.

Turning, Giganpor looks over at the voice, then gives a smile back, "Hello, Miho."

He shakes his head, "Calm down else you'll tire yourself before we get there. It's back this way."

He motions down a back alleyway. "How have you been? I have not been able to make contact for a while, it seems."

Of course Giganpor is going to make small talk on the way there, and he seems to be working to retrace a few steps here and there. As if trying to remember which turn was which and what wall he was looking for.
Miho

Miho grins back and she pauses for a moment "Fine fine." She will stop bouncing but her tail is sitll going it's a bit slower now.

"Geting caught up on all my commisions finding someone to mind the shop and getting forge supplies ready to be shipped over. I hear the camp could use some extra help. Also can't let you be forced to work all day long keeping everyone rolling there."

She goes for a walk along side Giga for a moment she looks around watching what he's doing but keeps back and out of his way.

"You know I'm not sure I could walk now without a tail..."

Giganpor nods, leading her through what feels almost like a maze. Down stairways, side alleys. It's obviously not that hard to get lost in here.

"I appreciate it. Some of the weapons are beyond my ability to fix--" He holds a hand out to stop her suddenly as a moving vane almost catches them. "Ah ha."

"Here we are." He moves past where the vane... and literally into a wall. As if the thing ate him. Literally.

He pokes his head back out a moment later, "Coming?" Then he disappears back into it.

Seriously, it's a wall for all intents and purposes to sight and he just walked right through it. That moving vane at least gives enough time to make a decision without being caught by it. Which could lead to a long fall, a dip, and who knows what else considering it's hard to see the other side.

Miho says "Well you are the king of armor so far as I am aware." She grins and seems to be in good spirits as they get deeper. She would pause for a moment and look atr the wall, the vane and then will follow after him without much more hestation once he calls to her to come. She passe though as well and will stop for a moment looking around.

"Damn I don't think I'd have noticed this...on my own."

Bringing a hand up, Giganpor lights up the hallway beyond from the darkness it was encompassed in, followed by more from the shield at his side as it gives off a white glow.

"I think that was the point. We needed help. I received it from the Arch Mage, and you are getting it from me." Giganpor says.

Then the light spreads out as he moves forward. A hall slowly comes into view as the light spreads out, flickering off Gnome symbols before forges are seen. Ancient, wonderful forges. The air almost sings by itself with the senses. A lot of it is broken, damaged in a lot of ways.

But the sense of it is still there. Miho may have had the same feeling in her family blacksmith shop. This is an entirely different level. The fires she could make, the wonders, the /power/ inside it is something entirely different and very much at the same time like where she learned to forge.

Whoever, whatever worked here had the sense of trying to hone their art in a way that neither she nor Giganpor have achieved yet. That anyone might have achieved and is still living for that matter. The madness inherent in such perfection is obvious, but at the same time it is also obvious that in a way this is what blacksmiths are. That they strive to perfect.

And off in a pile in one corner is what looks like trashed metal at first. Until one of the light motes fly over it. At first it looks to be just armor, perfectly fine, well made armor. But at the same time there is more mixed in. Sword hilts, finished blades needing mountings, and more. All of them works of art that the two of them would probably take years to make.

Giganpor looks to Miho, "When I was first shown this, I did not know what to think. Now? I believe if we as smiths had a religion, this would be one of those old shrines."

Miho says "Arch-Mage as in The Arch Mage? The one who's willing to actually run alongside people like us? Damn, I have heard about her she's a very brave Lander."

She notes with a clear tone of respect in her voice. She'll follow after her friend as they head deeper. There was a feeling here like when she went into the older part of the family smithy. The part where some of the older and still functional tools were. The ones that really should be in a museum but it felt like a crime to not use them still.

She feels it even more strongly here she goes quiet her eyes open wide as she starts to take in this place.

One could never reach perfection but they could always push harder, father. That is how people had advanced and she felt it calling to her.

"Aye there's no other way to describe a place this is the sort where you'd find Kagu-tsuchi and Hephaestus meeting to talk to each other on shop..."

She trails off a bit more thinking on this.

"Yet all of these left behind..."
Giganpor

Giganpor stays near the entrance, smiling a bit. "You were warned about it before hand. Hm..."

He turns to look at her at the left behind comment, "Ah, I think you will find it a bit more than that, Miho. Go look."

He looks at the pile, watching it from afar. "I think we might have the same problem. We reached a standing point where we have made our finest here. I recently made Byakko's Mane, my armor. Yet... it feels lacking."

Giganpor sighs as he moves from the entrance, over to the pile and looks at it. "This... well, it is hard to put into words?"
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho says "It's amazing these works are ... like nothing I have ever seen before in any reality." She goes to start looking over them abnut get the feeling she should not take but only look and learn.

"Yes like something moire could be done but I could not think of anything..."
Giganpor

Humming a bit, Giganpor reaches down and picks up a piece, a pauldron. Crouching down, he sighs. "We can look, and learn, maybe even copy the designs."

Giganpor shrugs, looking over the pauldron before putting it back carefully.

"This is more about you than about myself, however. What have you learned by seeing this, Miho? Put it into words. Work it out rather than keep it inside. We are all different, and while for me it was looking at this, you obviously need something more. Something personal." Giganpor says towards her.
Miho

Miho is pulling out a sketch book from somewhere shes' not pretty in her styule but it's enough to start sktching out a few ideas whil4e she's here. She looks over it for a momena nd keep working. "Yes this is more to inspire i been thinking there's a thought i had... I wonder..." She thinks "Something I don't see here but I think? I need ot think on it. Still I think this might get me in the right direction."
Giganpor

Finally, there's a dialog box that only Miho can see pop up as she sketches.

< You have found those who came before you. You have a long road ahead of you >
<< QUEST: Moonlight Weaponcrafter II unlocked. >>

Giganpor huhs and moves forward to glance. "Something you don't see here? Hm. I was thinking as well on an idea, but it's more tech than magic, I think."
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho pauses for a moment there and then looks to Giganpor for a moment then pause at the quest and stops for a moment before she hits yes on the quest. She knows things are going to get wild.
Giganpor

Unfortunately hitting the 'yes' doesn't seem to do anything at the moment. It just ends up being another quest in the log much like the original. And it doesn't up her profession at all. Just... unlocks something. Maybe.

Giganpor blinks at her actions, then huhs. "Lucky. I had to examine one. I was afraid the durability would zero out from me holding it."

He shakes his head, "So, what sort of ideas do you have? I was thinking about making it possible to change armor quicker... might be the fanboy in me, but well..." He shrugs.
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho has work to do and she knows it but now maybe just maybe she'll break though it. "I have been tyring to figure out how to make a gem that would be far easier to recharge enchanments with. After all enganged weapons tend to burn though thie magic fairly quit and if the gem could be recharged ... more easily they'd be more pactice to use also it could aid the landers in their own defence giving them an more reliable boost in power."

She looks at Giganpor.

"Which Rider is your favourite?"
Giganpor
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Giganpor looks thoughtful at the question, very thoughtful. "Hm... I would have to say Kuuga. Mostly because he ran into hardships and kept on going... Agito, not so much... and I know there's more, but I didn't get a chance to watch much as I would have liked." He shrugs.

"I was getting into the super sentai and Ultraman before getting stuck here, too. The sentai going with the animals kinda inspired my Were-Fang look over the whole beetle thing. Too obvious, and well... not as much fun?" He laughs.

Then he blinks, and looks at Miho, "Wait... enchanting crystals? Huh... y'know..." He looks very thoughtful on that, very much so. Then he sighs, "Talk to Katherine sometime. I think she's doing the same thing."
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho says "Ah! I admit I missed a decade or so of riders." She looks sheepishf or a moment. "Yes enchanting with her help would be a lot of good." She nods thinking She keeps looking around this place. "I also get keep this place not known to anyone save those we think worthy to learn?"
Giganpor
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Giganpor considers, then nods, "Definitely. Imagine someone stealing all of that." He motions at the pile. "Or wrecking the place."

He sighs, looking considerate, then blinks and looks at Miho with a laugh. "Wow. I just realized. No one's developed a Rider Kick here, have they?"
Miho
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Miho says "Think of SCALE getting in here..." She shudders for a moment at that. "There's a monk in Scale who might have or been close to it." She nots with a grin. "She buys supplies for her tavern from me. I think there was a guy in plant duck who was pretty much a rider but I haven't heard of him in ages."
Giganpor
Dun Loireag - The Highland City

Giganpor sighs, then nods, "No kidding. And I remember running across that one... I wonder if there's a way to make avatar changes or such?" He shrugs. "Ah well. So, ready to head back or you want to see if we can sketch out some of these for later?"

He looks thoughtful, "Then again, I may be taking a break from the armor smithing for a bit... one thing that the whole officer fiasco thing taught me was that I need to be better at... uh... talking to people, I guess?"
