Tournament: Opening Ceremonies

A celebration to launch the official beginning of the tournament is being held at Eas. There are promises of music, food, drink, and an aerial display.

(OOC: Social event, all are welcome!)

Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

The path from the first gate down in the foothills all the way to the Castle and Village of Eas is lit with torches and lanterns, keeping the dark of the evening at bay. While the ascent takes time for newcomers, the road is the finest in all the land, making for comfortable travel and easy passage of grunties, pekos, and carts.

Beyond the village, in what was an open space, is where the opening ceremonies are set to take place. Large wooden structures have been built here for the tournament battles and for the audience to view them. Much of the area has been turned into a festival ground, with merchants and food vendors hawking their wares. Music seems to be coming from a dozen places at the same time, mingling with the sounds of the crowds. Eas is, quite simply, filled to bursting with people.

Even though it is crowded, there is order. Guards bearing the livery of the Rose of Eas regularly patrol the area, ensuring that the laws of the land are being observed. Several of these guards help open a path for the Baroness Wake and her entourage to make their way through towards a wooden platform.

Merek
Village of Eas

Merek is with the entourage, taking the time to walk behind Baroness Wake and Tae. The man wears the dark attire he often does, though he also has an aide's assistant uniform upon it as well to show that he is with Castle Eas' people for the time being. He tries his best to look proper. He watches the place and along to the crowd, and prepared to assist in any way if he is needed.
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

Being one of the competators is the only reason Kauchemar is part of the entourage and isn't already out in the crowd doing her business as a professional Bard. There will be plenty of time for frivilous festival frolicing once the opening ceremony is under way.

Nor is she alone right now, as they are a part of her combat as much as her magic, but it's only the Binder Shield currently summoned to float near her arm. She doesn't trust the sword to not get a bit too ... eager to get to the fighting. That thing was slightly psychopathic at times, it'd be weird if it wasn't already a vengeful spirit.
Kotono
Village of Eas

Kotono was kind of a last minute arrival, so instead of showing up in the entourage, she's off to the side just watching everything happening. Of course, she's got Miyako by her side as this happens. "I can't believe I'm going to be doing something like this. It's gonna be better than sparring!" She says with a grin.
Fukaziroh
Village of Eas

It's a PARTY! And in this case at least, Fukaziroh is an invited guest! Not a fighter or anything, but she did sign up as an announcer. And that makes her official! Also she's very definitely Fukaziroh tonight, not Fuka. Gone is her vambraces and greaves and other armor, gone is her forest greens and browns. Instead the young Sylph is dressed in a lovely kimono of a pastel mint green colour, decorated with lavender leaves. Her hair is done up as well, an elaborate pile of seeming spun gold that adds inches to her height. It might almost make her an average size. Almost.

In all, her presentation is impressive and eye-catching. She may ruin it by acting like, well, like herself... but she does make a dramatic appearance at least!
Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako grins and slides her arm around Kotono to give the taller girl a quick squeeze. "It'll be grand, I'm sure," she offers. She's opted not to participate, herself, still waiting on a chance to get a new weapon commissioned - her daggers are enough to deal with most mobs, but for PVP? Not really her favorite. "I'll be cheering you on every round."
Mikage
Village of Eas

"Does this place look familiar, buddy?" Mikage asks, seemingly to no one at all. However, that's when Rama hops down off of a rock, the lynx seeming to look around, his nose twitching. Lynx like her companion were relatively common animal monsters in this area of Yamato. "Probably not, huh?" She comments, reaching down to scratch between his fluffy ears. "Found you on the other side of the mountains so I'm betting you never came this far."

In this sort of crowd, any distraction seems to help Mikage's usual shy nature. She does pull her hood a bit forward, moving along with the other fighters and remaining close to Cyrus in the process. Taking a deep breath, she stands up straight again and continues walking. "They only see what you are, they can't see anything beyond what lies in this world." She murmurs to herself, as if that were some sort of mantra to try to ease her nerves.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider is a part of the entourage, walking proudly along with the group as one of the competitors. He's looking confident, even eager, but his fight is not tonight. But soon. Tonight is for merrymaking, such as it is, though he's overshadowed by his recently failed project. Still, he'll make the best of his current circumstances, keeping his chin up and grandstanding a bit, raising a fist to the cheers of the crowd.
Cyrus
Village of Eas

Cyrus is on the quiet side as the two move along the opening made for them. Surprisingly, he's hooded as well, not feeling too social at the moment. He squeezes Mikage's hand and shows her a soft smile, his ears poking out of the hood he's wearing. He hears her murmur, but doesn't remark on it. That little squeeze of a hand is his support to her. Unlike other warriors, who might display magic, or show large weapons to show off to those watching, he is hiding his various weaponry beneath his cloak.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

When the Baroness moves to ascend the platform, she pauses to assist Lady Tae. It is only when they stand on the platform that most are able to clearly see them. The Lady wears a gown of snow white, with the Rose of Eas embroided along both sleeves and the skirt. Her hair tumbles in a cascade of soft, black curls and she carries herself as if having every eye upon her was utterly normal.

The Baroness Wake looks at Tae for a moment, openly admiring her fiancee. Only when Tae turns and glances her way does the Baroness join her once more. Wake wears a gown of red, and the roses upon it are of white. Her dark red hair tumbles in braids and she smiles calmly as she surveys the crowd. When a cheer goes up, she lifts her hand to acknowledge her people.

On either side of the platform, behind Wake and Tae, are comfortable seats prepared for the competitors who wish to join them. When each of the participants comes into view, another loud cheer erupts, and here and there in the crowd children (and some adults) wave what appear to be plush versions of their favorite adventurers.

Merek
Village of Eas

Merek will step along with Baroness Wake and with Tae, then he offers a little bow to the two. With that, he will withdraw and take a place in a seat to relax for the moment, sitting with the competitors that will also take a seat. He then takes a look along while watching to see who the competition will be.
Kotono
Village of Eas

"I know you'll be there," Kotono replies to Miyako with a smile. "I'm sure I'll do great in the tournament! It always helps to keep these blades sharpened!" She tilts her neck from side to side a little. "And the whole tournament overall looks like it'll be great fun!"
Mikage
Village of Eas

After the events of the previous year, one would imagine that dealing with the crowds gets easier. However, that isn't the case for Mikage. In fact, she has been in tournaments for years outside of Elder Tale, and it always has the same effect. Yet, as Cyrus squeezes her hand, it offers just the right amount of support to keep going, even offering a few smiles and waves to some of the nearby children.

"You know, we're going to have to figure out who is selling those. I bet Sassaral would love one, especially the little plush Rama." Their lupine companion wasn't seen much these days, often remaining behind in town, but it's likely she is somewhere out in the city, likely selling food.

Moving to take her seat, Mikage offers a raise of her hand in greeting towards those on the stage, bowing her head respectfully.
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

There's probably a few gasps of "Wow she's fighting this time?" in the crowd from people that recognize Kauchemar from her emceeing.... shenanigans at the previous tournament. Which she will certainly do again. But for right now, yes, she is seated amongst the other entrants. The shield hangs itself on the back of her seat, ever protective against potential sneak attacks. "... You're letting the espionage training get to you," mutters the nightmare with a roll of her eyes, and then just leans back to enjoy the moment, chuckling under her breath. "My reputation preceeds me as usual."
Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako nods grinning back at Kotono. "Right then," she says, and gives her friend a playful swat on the rear. "Get up there with the other competitors, I'll be in the stands watching you." It would be *really* nice to have a camera to record it with, but that is not yet in the cards, unfortunately. "And kick lots of ass in there, or else!"

She grins and turns to head up into the stands with the rest of the audience, pausing a few steps in to turn and blow Kotono a kiss.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider is a bit weirded out by Plushie Schneiders, but he's not concerned, nor is he upset by fans. Even in high school, the basketball team he was on was a big deal. And his coat is absolutely flash. So he basks in the adulation, though it's probaly mostly not for him. He will wave to the crowd, then take his seat up on the podium with the other entries.
Cyrus
Village of Eas

"I am just wondering what contract I signed to have plushies of mine released. Though I suppose in this world, trademark and copy rights aren't really considered that much." There's certainly no governments to ensure they exist. The youth wanders along with Mikage and nods to Baroness Wake and her fiancee for a moment, then moves to sit with Mikage. Once seated, he leans in towards Mikage and remarks; "I hope I can be a bit flashier during the tournament, as not to get so many 'boos' from the audience." He notes.
Fukaziroh
Village of Eas

Fukaziroh is never intimidated, so of course she's not too intimidated to approach any of the combatants even though she's on a special platform as an MC, just like the combatants. Still while she recognizes most of them, she can only truly say she knows a few. So she starts out the evening, at least, staying near one she knows well.

"So, Kaumare, just what reputation would that be anyways?" Fukaziroh asks with a mischevious grin. "Are you famous or infamous?"
Kotono
Village of Eas

Kotono giggles a little, starting to take off before turning to blow a kiss back at Miyako as she goes up to join the others. Upon arriving, Kotono smiles and waves a little bit, but doesn't show off or anything like that. The girl may be eager to compete, but she's also very humble.
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

Kauchemar gives no other answer other than a single "Yes" to Fukaziroh's question.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

"Thank you for coming this evening!"

Tae's gentle voice flows out to the crowd, carried by magic so that all may hear. The excited crowd's cheering rises in a warm response. Clearly the chill air has done nothing to curb their enthusiasm.

"We are most honored that you are here to join us in this celebration! Before you are joined many of the heroes who shall amaze us all with their skill, courage, and cunning! Please give another warm welcome for your heroes!"

The cheers erupt louder than ever, and Tae does nothing to stop them for what seems to many like minutes, but is perhaps fifteen seconds. With a raised hand and a laugh, she has the audience back to a dull murmur.

"As many of you know, I am Tae, your friend and servant of the people of Eas. It is my pleasure to introduce our Baroness!"

Before cheering can once again break out, Wake raises a hand and steps forward to speak. "As always, you are kind, dear people."

"Welcome to the opening ceremonies of the tournament! I hope you are all enjoying yourselves. To our guests from near and far, please be at ease. You delight us with your presence and our gratitude to each and every one of you is beyond words." Wake smiles and pauses, her eyes moving slowly over the audience. She cannot see many of the faces, but for those in the audience, the gesture makes it seem as if she were meeting every eye.

"This is no time for long speeches, though, my friends. It is a time to celebrate and enjoy ourselves! So with that in mind, let me handle the official business at hand.." She draws out a sealed scroll at this and the audience grows utterly quiet.

"It is time to read the official matches of the first round."

Wake and Tae share this duty, and after each pairing is read, there is a chance for the competitors to rise and acknowledge the crowd (and face cheers that are ever louder!) Punctuating each reading are fireworks of red and silver, exploding across the sky.

Kauchemar
Village of Eas

Kauchemar is a performer of many means, so she knows how to stand and play the crowd for their cheers and applause when her matchup is called. Then holds two fingers up to point at her psychadelic lavander eyes, and turns her hand to point them at her opponent in the classic 'I'm watching you' gesture. Though it's all for the show, for the most part. She's not about to be antagonstic now, but you've got to give the audience the intrigue they want, so they have a reason to actually come watch.
Merek
Village of Eas

Merek stands up from the seat, and will offer a wave to the crowd, while he watches the announcement. It looks like the first match with him will be against Giganpor. The man seems to think while he crosses both of his arms, then he nods a bit. With that, he will take a seat and relax.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider rises up when introduced, and he bows, smiling at the fireworks, then resuming his seat. He likes the celebrating bit, too, though he shouldn't celebrate too much, as he has one of the early matches. He tugs the lapels of his coat to neaten himself up a bit, though of course he always looks marvelous.
Mikage
Village of Eas

"I wouldn't worry too much about it. They're adorable." Mikage whispers, and then, as soon as the the official ceremony begins, she shhhs at the feline and seems to sit still, paying attention.

The grace and poise that both Lady Tae and Baroness Wake have in their way of speaking is something that Mikage certainly envies. Even in the best of circumstances, she tended to stumble with her words more often than not.

When her name is called among the first round combatants, the Were Fang rises to her feet, raising a hand in greeting. Then, she plucks up Rama, who has grown a bit since last year's tournament, raising him up as well, so the crowd can see the lynx. Obviously, the cat has a few fans, by the look of it.
Fukaziroh
Village of Eas

Fukaziroh chortles at Kau's answer, entirely unladylike with that laugh, but it's okay. Few can hear her save those who likely know Fuka's no lady.

She quiets when Wake stands to make the announcements, though she cheers for the fighters as each pair is announced. Loudly and enthusiastically for all, clapping and whistling shrilly... which, considering she's among them at the time, might be a bit TOO loud for comfort. She stints none however, looking forward seemingly to each and every match, even those where her friends have to fight each other!
Cyrus
Village of Eas

Cyrus is similarly in awe of the reading given by Lady Tae and Baroness Wake. The youth is reminded of some of the nicer office parties as he watches the festivities. It feels strange, being in the spotlight like this again. It reminds him of when he used to be active in sports in Highschool and during his University Days.

When his name is called, he slowly rises, pulling his hood back, and taps his tell-tale cane up to the air, firing out a multi-colored spray of colors into the air to liven up the fireworks further, and then sits down.

"I took my cane back out of storage. It's a bit low level, but it's got some nice tricks to it still." He whispers to Mikage.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

While the reading is initially quite formal, it is clear that Wake cannot maintain stuffy formality around Tae. They end up having too much fun in each other's presence and end up holding hands and adding a few comments here and there.

"It seems Yuuki has drawn the most difficult pairing in the first round," notes Tae.

Wake looks at her curiously, "But Yuuki has a bye, so she has no opponent, my love."

Tae smirks impishly, "Yes, which means she's fighting boredom itself, an enemy she can't hope to overcome."

Wake laughs in response, turning to look behind her. No sign of Yuuki yet. Which means at any moment a wild entrance might occur. She knows the Champion will show up, though. Yuuki has a way in picking dramatic moments. Which is a nice way to say Yuuki is always late.

When the reading of the first challenges is done, there is some general housekeeping. The start and ending of various festival services, directing people where to get help for a variety of circumstance, and to ask everyone to please call attention to any children who might be lost in the crowd.

"A very special thank you to all of our guards, both those in regular service and to the many who have volunteered for this event, ensuring our safety. We are all grateful. Likewise a thank you to all of our vendors and performers, who have traveled far to share their skills with all of us. You are all appreciated!"

More applause, but Wake presses on. "More than all others, thank you to our audience, to all of you. Without you this simply isn't much fun. With you we will forge memories that will last our entire lives."

A pause for cheering, and Wake and Tae glide into matching curtseys to the audience, heads bowed humbly to those who have come to their home. At this gesture many torches are put out and the sky is suddenly exploding with light as fireworks launch from across the lake to burst into roses in the sky, their petals raining down in every color of the rainbow, fading just above the heads of the people.

Merek
Village of Eas

Merek takes a look up to the fireworks, then he smiles a bit. Eventually, he will stand up while he begins to clap, then will take the time to look and make sure he isn't needed. With that, he will begin to make a way to check in on a place he can watch the fireworks quietly.
Mikage
Village of Eas

"You should probably talk to Miho about seeing if you can get that thing upgraded or something." Miki whispers, still trying not to draw attention away from the ladies of the hour. She has the utmost respect for Wake and her partner, and thus she tries not to cause any sort of interruption.

It isn't until things have been wrapped up that she stands, giving one move wave to the crowd. "So... food?" She suggests to Cyrus. "Food and ... less people?"

She hesitates. "And maybe we find out who is selling those plush?" Then, with a pause Mikage continues, "But... less people."
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

And as soon as the official ceremony is over Kauchemar gives a smile and a wink towards Wake as she gets up from her seat, and turns to walk away from the platform. Though as she does she grabs Fukaziroh by the arm with one hand, the other hand motioning to her to keep quiet and just follow, as the Nightmare Were Fang makes her way down from the stage and into the crowd.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider will hang out and take advantage of free food, fading into the background as much as a fellow of his considerable talents can do so.
Cyrus
Village of Eas

"Food and less people, and plushies." Cyrus agrees. Though he's fine in large crowds, unlike Mikage, he wants to make sure that she is comfortable. He can often be her shield in social situations, making sure she doesn't feel too imposed upon. But in this situation, he takes her hand once more and simply seeks to lead her off the podium, and stealth his way off towards the food.
Fukaziroh
Village of Eas

Hey, it's kind of fun being part of something glorious. Maybe next time there's one of these, Fuka can fight as well! But then again, maybe not. Maybe MCing is plenty of fun and spotlight for someone like her.

She seems startled when someone grabs her. A secret admirer? Someone who can't control themselves over her peerless beauty? Oh wait, Kauchemar! Fukaziroh allows herself to be pulled along, wondering what the nightmare intends. "I hope this involves food. Especially if there's ice cream." the Sylph adds in half ject.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

With the ceremonies concluded, Wake and Tae are free to get back to their normal leisure. There will be duties later and hundreds of people to receive during the morning and day tomorrow. For now, they encourage a few curious children to join them on the platform. With fireworks bursting above and music picking up nearby, a little dance party breaks out as several workers quickly clear most of the seats. Having free childcare is a nice break for the parents, who take full advantage.

"We get to hang out with the kids," notes Tae to Wake.

The Baroness grins, "Indeed. No enthusiasm matches that of young ones allowed to stay up past their bedtimes."

"Ohhhh, I don't know about that," replies Tae. "I'm going to give them a run for their money."

Kauchemar
Village of Eas

"In due time, my dear," Kauchemar replies to the Sylph with a mischevious smirk as she leads to the edge of the crowd. Then lets go of her arm, so she can draw her instrument from her back. Adjusts the strings and retunes a little. "But first, I owe you a little impromptu instruction~" She raises her voice to be heard in the crowd, yet somehow manages to keep the tone slightly ominous. "Com'n boys and girls! Come a little closer..." There's a pause as her eyes flash mysteriously. She starts to strum, playing low and melodious at first, but it doesn't take long to build up in energy, and then a single but reverbrant riff across the strings. "Com'n... REANIMATE YOUR FEET!"

Then she starts to play, diving right into a peculiarly upbeat and catchy tune, while whisps of green magic crackle amongst her fingertips and the strings. "o/~If you're feeling dead I'll be your reanimator...I've got the way to bring you to life
A superior existence with no one to control you... Where you can always do what you like.
Let me give you some green color and you will ask for more
You will see that you never felt this way before
Party without limits, have fun and don't be blue
Freedom is eternal for you, you, you! o/~"

It's hard to focus on exactly, but there's something in the combination of the music, her voice, and maybe some of the misty green aether waifing about as she plays her bardic magic, that starts drawing more and more of the crowd in, compelled to join in and dance along.

"o/~ Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
The secret will keep you alive
Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
You'll dance for the rest of your life!

Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
The secret will keep you alive
Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
You'll dance for the rest of your life! o/~"

Somehow she manages to riff more power chords on such a classical instrument, and a booming "REANIMATE YOU FEET!" escapes her once more to keep the dance party going.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider will hang out and talk with any of the fans that want to talk with him. He at least talks a big gamem though he's at best middle-of-the-road, skillswise. But his confidence is rock solid. When Kauch starts playing, he'll dance, not that he's got any specific training. He just likes moving with the music, and goes with the feeling. He looks around for any ladies that look ready to dance, so he can share that dancing feeling.
Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako smiles lightly, finding her feet tapping in tune with the song. She lifts a hand to beckon Kotono to her...

And then, her voice lifts to join Kauchemar's, following in perfect harmony. Her guitar appears in her arms, and she perches on the stands with one knee up so she can rest the instrument on it while she plays.

"Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
The secret will keep you alive
Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
You'll dance for the rest of your life! o/~"
Kotono
Village of Eas

Kotono comes to join Miyako and also joins in the harmony while dancing a little.

"Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones!
The secret will keep you alive!
Move your dead bones, bones, bones! Move your dead bones, bones, bones! You'll dance for the rest of your life! Reanimate your feet! o/~"

She wasn't expecting to do a song and dance, but she won't miss out when it comes to being with Miyako!
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

With the music kickin' in for real now, Tae is organizing her own little dancing troupe and teaching some moves that Landers have never seen. She has no problem getting them following her actions like an adorable kpop kid's group.

Wake can dance, but she's happier to sit back and enjoy the show. And to just take in everything. Thinking about everything it took to come this far twists her emotions many ways, but that steady smile hides it from anyone who doesn't know her well enough. Her eyes are the give away, if one knows how to look.

This kind of music draws a *lot* of attention, of course. Among the crowd is a young, lovely woman of House Corwen. She settles herself casually in front of Schneider, waiting expectantly as she asks, "This music makes it impossible to stay still, does it not?"

Fukaziroh
Village of Eas

Oh so it's not food? Fuka watches as Kauchemar sets up to sing. It takes her a bit, but she finally realizes what the nightmare has in mind. She's a bit slow, but she gets there eventually.

She laughs in delight when Kau starts into the song, eyes sparkling. "This is good too!" she chirps enthusiastically, hopping in to join on the chorus once it starts to repeat. She's not a professional singer but she does get some benefit from her hobbies and her profession, enough to make sure that she doesn't actually harm the song. Plus of course her enthusiasm is highly contagious, in the same sort of way many diseases are contagious. In this case though, it's a good thing. Probably.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider looks vaguely surprised as a Lander lady approaches him, but he'll smile and execute a sort-of-bow. When she asks about the beat making it hard to stay still, he nods agreement. "It's true," he agrees. "But luckily, there's no need to stand still." He's got no idea what sort of dancing she's used to, hopefully it's not Ballroom dancing. He knows zilch about that. But he can sway his hips and rock his arms back and forth to the beat so he'll take her hand and they'll fake it as best they can. Those who do dance know that any sort of motion makes the endorphins that let you feel good, so he's under no pressure. Which is unusual among Japanese, maybe, but he's danced a lot and no one has called him out for not knowing the right steps.
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

There's less seizure inducing flashing lights and undermaintained fog machines, but getting a good portion of the crowd and a few of her friends pulled into the dance number as well makes Kauchemar feel like the old world days on the club DJ turntables just the same. We do have fireworks to be colorful overhead at least. "The trick," she asides to Fuka, "is getting the right combination that is hard to resist. The music does the rest. It's less of a try, and more of a do. Just put your spirit into it, and the rest will follow."

With the little impromptu lesson over, she continues the song, going through the second verse and chorus which is pretty much more of the same thing. Then settles into some bit more generic 'good to dance to' music. That's all it takes once the crowd is already in the grove.

Then her attention turns to Schneider and his dance partner, and she laughs a bit. "Save some of those moves for tomorrow!"
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

Children being children, it isn't all that long before their dancing evolves into a game of tag, and then into simply chasing each other around. This is where some of the ladies of Eas step-in to take over. Watching a dozen children scrambling in every direction is too much for Wake and Tae.

With the platform now all to themselves, they can focus on dancing together. The torches about it were put out, so they are illuminated only in the flashes of fireworks above. It's not quite privacy, but it's as close as dancers on a stage can get.

Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider is saving /all/ his moves for tomorrow! He smirks to Kauchemar and says, "Of course I am. I haven't set anything *on fire*, have I?" He laughs in what he hopes is disarming way, so hopefully that won't worry the Lander he's dancing with, but those that know him and just how much fire he can churn out will have to nod slowly. If no one's on fire, he's definitely saving it up. As the lights go down, as it were, his lack of moves are even better hidden, and his level of smoothness increases.
Yuuki
Village of Eas

The magical fireworks continue to light up the night sky with their majesty as the celebrations of the opening ceremony continue. However, as they explode high above, they begin to light up an object in the sky. Is it a bird? Is it a dragon? No! It's Yuuki!

    -Wait, it's Yuuki!?

That's right! The energetic imp is falling, falling, falling! ... Slowly...

Yuuki floats down towards the main stage, hanging beneath what looks like an actual parachute! Incredible!

Yuuki manages to land on the raised platform, the large cloth of the chute collapsing onto her as it loses its shape. There's a brief moment of grunting as Yuuki fights her way out from under it, before raising her arms and announcing, "That's right! Your Champion is here!"

Yuuki pauses for a moment, then actually looks around. She then quickly asks, "Hey, what happened to the people on stage!?" She was expecting people to be there. Wasn't there going to be a speech and everything? Noticing everyone in the ceremony grounds milling about doing their own thing rather than paying attention, Yuuki's eyes go wide, "Damn! Did I screw up the timing!?"
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

The arrival of Yuuki is a surprise! Enough so that Wake and Tae don't even notice it until the parachute brushing against their ankles as they dance. This brings them to a halt.

"Hey everyone! Yuuki is here!" Tae's voice is again magically amplified, and she hugs Yuuki, breaking into a fit of giggles. "You are right on time!"

There's a lot of cheering at the apperance of Yuuki, and several of the children racing around skid to a halt, waving their Yuuki plushies above their heads and jumping up and down.

"A parachute?" asks Wake as she approaches. "You never cease to amaze, do you?"

Miyako
Village of Eas

As the sound of Yuuki's plaint reaches her, Miyako chuckles softly and pauses in her dance with Kotono to call out to her: "I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!" Then she laughs wildly and turns back to her dancing.
Schneider
Village of Eas

Schneider looks impressed as yuuki drops down by parachute. He enjoys seeing people using them, it means we'll figure out flying eventually. Or at least that we, as players, haven't given up on it. He and his partner will dance clear to give Yuuki space to land, and he cheers along with everyone else as she makes it down safely.
Kauchemar
Village of Eas

"I'd say that your timing was spot on for dramatics!" Kauchemar motions at the excited fans waving their dolls. "They certainly don't seem to mind."
Yuuki
Village of Eas

Well, despite her off timing, people still seemed to enjoy her entry. So that's good! It wasn't a total botched attempt after all.

Yuuki laughs as she's hugged by Tae, "It seems so!" She gives a grin and a big wave to the Yuuki plushies and their very lucky owners. She then kneels down to gather up the parachute in her arms, grinning up at Wake as she does so, "Haha, yup! Got Prophy to let me borrow one. Not as easy to control as I thought! Almost got blown into one of the castle walls. Thankfully a few air based sword artes got me back on track. Guess I learned something useful from that awful trip to the Palace Lands after all!"

Yuuki clutches parachute in one arm, using her hand to take off an imaginary hat and bow to Miyako. Before she nods excitedly to Kauchemar, "That's what's important!"
Baroness Wake

"I'm sure Prophylaxis will be delighted to hear the story," Wake says, grinning. "Perhaps he will find some time to come here. I was rather hoping to see him!" The Baroness shakes her head, laughing more at the story. "I wish I could have seen you 'attacking' your way out of that situation."

Tae releases the hug and does her best to help Yuuki gather the parachute. As she does, she asks, "So how are you going to spend your first round, Yuuki? A lot of time all to yourself. Though I imagine there might be a monster or two somewhere in the vicinity, cowering in a cave or hiding under a rock."

Yuuki
Village of Eas

"Whaaaat? No way! I'm going to be watching the fights, of course! Plus eating all the yummy foods. And then maybe hunting a monster or two. I've been in the Palace Lands for too long. Got to remind them that I'm still alive so they don't get any ideas."

Yuuki sagenods knowingly, before thanking Tae and putting the parachute aside. Sadly she'll have to return that at some point. But Yuuki does grin at Wake, "Yeah, you just need the right air based skill and you're set! Still can't go UP though. Will have to encourage the SEA to work on that." Yuuki rubs her chin for a moment, "Maybe a personal glider stuffed inside a staff. If that bald kid could do it, I'm sure we could too!"
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

"You won't have to wait very long and you'll be at it again!" Wake looks towards the fighting area. Or at least, one of them. "You can also help us stay safe when you are watching. It's up to our volunteers to keep this tournament safe for our audience. A timely parry might be just the thing to have around, in case someone doesn't control themselves well. Not that I expect that to occur. These aren't amateurs."

Tae doesn't have any official commentary on the dangers of the contest. She'll just stick to what she likes to discuss, "So, now that you are here, I have something special for you.." Tae grins in a most mischievous way and hands over a plushie. Not a usual tournament plushie, though. It's one of Wake.

"Wait, what the heck is that?!" demands the Baroness.

Miyako
Village of Eas

With Kotono running off to take care of Personal Issues, Miyako is free to mingle with the crowd. She went off to get a drink first, getting back just in time to hear the Baroness' surprised question. "What the heck is what?" she asks, as she steps up close to the group. She spares a casual wave for Yuuki. "Have to admit I do like the glider idea."
Yuuki
Village of Eas

"I'm usually more of the dodging type... Not that that would be helpful for the people behind me. So parrying could work, sure!"

Yuuki is then handed a Wake plushie. She stares at it, eyes going wide and a grin forming, "... Hahahahaha... HAHAHAHA! Yessssssssss!" Yuuki holds the clearly-not-an-identical-likeness up, so from her point of view it's showing beside the real Wake, then nods approvingly, "Exactly like the real thing!"

Though at Wake's consternation, Yuuki grins, "Think of it this way: Now you can nag me to not be so lazy when you're not even around."

As Miyako joins them, Yuuki returns the quick wave and then nods enthusiastically, "Right!? Though I'm not really a staff person myself... Maybe glider wings folding out from a backpack?" She chin rubs some more.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

Wake looks at the plushie. She considers it for a time, then frowns. "How.. did that come to be? I specifically did not authorize any plush toys of myself."

Tae almost hides behind Yuuki. "Oh, a few got through the cracks, with my, that is to say, the Lady Tae's specific encouragement!" She asides to a girl nearby, "There's a special stall just inside the castle gates that sells them. Tell everyone! They are a special sale!"

Wake watches the girl dart off and for the first time in public view, facepalms. "This.. is not good."

Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako hmms thoughtfully as she watches Tae run off with the plushie. "Well. That ... apparently is indeed a thing," she muses. "I wonder just how many they actually made?"

After a pause, she decides - it would seem - not to immediately run after Tae to get herself one. She'll settle for one of the Yuuki plushes. "Maybe we should have one of each of the contestants? I'd pay good money for one of Ko-chan."
Yuuki
Village of Eas

Yuuki grins and gives Tae a thumbs up, "Naisu! I might just have to go buy up a few spares. For when they inevitably go missing when a shadow plucks them from their home." Yuuki eyes the facepalming Wake with a wry smile on her face.

Yuuki then laughs and shrugs, "Don't worry too much about it. I think it's very flattering! It just means that people like you enough to buy you!" Yuuki looks around at all the Yuuki plushes floating around the crowd. Along with all the other competitor plushes, "Besides, it makes them happy!"
Merek
Village of Eas

Merek's been keeping to himself, and listening to people while he watches the fireworks. Eventually, he will begin to make his way to one of the stalls, where he places a few coins, while ordering plushies that he can buy with the money. Then he's adjusting the Blue Rose sigil which he wears while he makes a way to Yuuki and Wake, and nods along to Tae. "It is great, to see you all. I am not that great at fighting players, I will keep that power of mine in check of course. Don't worry about it," he will add to Wake, she would know what he means.
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

"Oh, all the rest are commonly available," says Wake, moving on from her embarassment with a bit of effort. A considerable amount of effort, really. "I'm going to have to ensure that Lady Tae is available, as well, in plush form."

Tae laughs softly, "Already done. We come as a set, of course. I'm not letting you have all the fun!" She does indeed have both of them. "They are so cute! I think maybe we'll release some for every major event. The children, as Yuuki said, seem so happy!"

Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

The Baroness looks at Merek more seriously, forgetting, for now, the whole plushi situation. "I trust you to use it very wisely, indeed, sir. You wear the rose now."

Yuuki
Village of Eas

Yuuki nods along enthusiastically at the mention of more being created, "Absolutely! And we could totally start creating collections. And then special editions, variations, collaborative crossovers!"

Yuuki's eyes go wide, "I just realized... What if we enchanted them!? They could do all sorts of things! I wonder if we could get them to walk... And fight each other! That'd be adorable."
Merek
Village of Eas

Merek will nod a little bit along to Wake, "Alright, you take care. I am going to find a few things to do while I wait for my match."
Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako chuckles softly, nodding along with the discussion. Especially Yuuki's idea. "Might be an interesting profit venture, yes... I'll bet there's a lot of Lander kids who'd enjoy that kind of thing. Gotta make sure they can't hurt the kids if they're going to 'fight', though... or scare them with 'wounds'. I've seen Kampfer, you know."
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

"You know, Yuuki, there is such a thing as taking an idea too far." The Baroness abruptly grabs Yuuki in a firm hug. "There. it doesn't suit us to meet without that, now does it?" She did not steal the doll back. But the thought about it.

Lady Tae is looking at the plush pair she holds, herself and Wake. "You know, way back when I had lunch boxes, shirts, pens, notebooks, calendars, and many other things that bore my face and far more that had my name or logo. I'm not sure if I was ever captured in the plush format, though. I find it rather pleasing! Plus it's fun to squeeze!"

Yuuki
Village of Eas

Yuuki nods along with Miyako, "Of course! It'd be a very family friendly fighting. Especially since it would be with plush weapons. And you wouldn't want them to get damaged!"

Yuuki does actually check that she still has the plush. She knows Wake. Though she snort-laughes in response to Wake, "That's what people say when they're too afraid to get wacky creative!"

And then Tae mentions squeezing them, "Oh! We could enchant them to speak when they're squeezed!"
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

Tae needs little encouragement. She holds up the Wake doll and squeezes it. "I'm a real Baroness!" she says in her best Wake-voice. She moves the doll as if it were walking regally. "I should really see if I can make it curtsey.."

The Baroness has given up this battle. She can refuse Tae nothing, anyway. "So, the night is winding down. Oh! And you will be sleeping in your very own bed now, Yuuki. The Sleeping Knights wing is completed and you can come and go as you please. The Dome of Truth is finally ready to receive you properly."

Yuuki
Village of Eas

"My own bed huh..." Yuuki stares off into the distance, "Not sure I've had one of those for... A while... And yet at the same time..."

Yuuki shakes her head to clear those thoughts and then grins, "Finally! Gotta have somewhere to put my new plushie collection. Oh! Does the wing include a trophy room!?"
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

"Of course," replies Wake. "This is the Sleeping Knights we're talking about. Trophies of all kinds are expected. Well, at least those of the not-severed-head kind. None of that is needed. Though what one keeps in their private room is up to them."

Tae snickers at the mention of severed heads. Then she realizes Wake's not smiling. "Wait, you're serious? What have you got in your inventories?!"

Yuuki
Village of Eas

"Awwwww, not even that severed dragon head once we eventually manage to pull it off?" Yuuki looks a little disappointed.
Miyako
Village of Eas

Miyako nods firmly as she sets aside her plushie plotting for the moment. "Dragon heads are special. It goes up. Along with any Floor Boss heads from the Tower."
Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

Wake pauses, "Ohhh, well, yeah, that one has to be in the case, definitely. I wasn't counting that. I was thinking more like.. the Butcher King's head. That.. wasn't our best work."

Tae reflects, "Wait, ohh, I remember that story. Oh god! That's been in your inventory this whole time? It's a good thing you can't smell it."

Baroness Wake
Village of Eas

The night winds down, and the fireworks have long since been spent. Here and there, groups turn in, until at last the little carts hawking their wares are shut for the evening. The torch light comes up just enough to aid those tasked with cleaning the area. There is thankfully little to do, for the crowd has behaved itself with remarkable care and respect.

Only when the last of the crews has completed its work that Wake and Tae turn in. They do not yet sleep in the castle, though it is ready, but instead go back to the house they've been using. It has been a remarkable day and the tournament promises to be remarkable.
