Duty: Distant voyages

Hey are you new to the game and want to run a duty? Do you still need access to the palace lands? Come one and all to sail the ocean blue with us and get access to the peaceful palace lands. All are welcoe.

Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

The port of Shibuya was lively as people were loading supplies to take to the camp in the palace lands. Rizadoman himself stood at the bow of the ship as he simply watches over the supplies being loaded on. His training was complete and he was looking forward to the seven day trip to recover. The captain of the ship shouts out to area , " We set sail soon. Make sure all preperations are complete and you are aboard or you shall be left behind!." Rizadoman watches the captain before taking a deep breath and looking out at the sea. " Please ancestors, don't let this be like last time."
Vertina
Plot Room 3

With Karluin dealt with for the time being Vertina has decided it was time she finally got a look at the newly discovered region... and it's possible resources for Brewing or Alchemy that Yamato may not have. She'd asked Mizuki to call her when her friend was ready to make the voyage so they could go together, and thus here she is. With a keg carried on each shoulder. A few of the sailors give her longing looks but the Salamander just smiles. "Don't worry mates, this is for celebrating later." She heads down into the hold to store her addition to the supplies.
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

    "What happened last time?"
That would be Amalthea asking the important questions as the old Paladin boards the boat, weapons on her back, a pack of supplies slung over her shoulder.
See Vertina isn't alone in deciding it's time to check out the Palace lands, so the officer of the Odyssiea Knights is here boarding the ship as well.
Naniko
Plot Room 3

Naniko...exists. This new continent exists. She's been hearing more and more about people's efforts there, so it's time to try and make it there herself, though she strongly suspects she'll be coming back. Her hood is up, and she looks out at the water, longingly.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang has made the trip a few times, waiting patiently now for the trip to begin. It won't be immediately on departure, but she's standing on deck anyhow and watching the progress of the loading with a critical eye. Ticking off items from a list, verifying all our supplies have been loaded aboard. She finds herself tasked as a logistician as often as not, but she doesn't mind, and she's usually pretty efficient at it.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

Mizuki finally found a group! She called Vertina on the chimlink, and here she is!

For this adventure, Mizuki's equipped her pirate armor set (it's a little more water-resistant, in the practical sense if not the elemental sense): This armor set is a mix of fantasy and history; Most immediately eyecatching are the black hat with a feather plume that seems to be somewhere between a cavalier hat and a tricorner hat, and the blue cloak. Under the cloak is a realistic buff coat with a red sash around the waist. Two shoulder belts cross over her chest, with pouches for holding things and sheathed daggers. A pair of black trousers complete the outfit. Lastly, boots (hidden in were form) complete the set bonus.

She waves and smiles upon seeing Vertina and Amalthea, nods in recognition to everyone else, and gives Naniko an apologetic look. "Ah... sorry about the other day." She's not sure what it was that put the girl off, but she won't forget that poncho.

Ears rotate as Rizadoman speaks. "Yeah, what happened last time?"
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman jumps as if not realizing he was being listened to, " It is much to grusome for me to share with such young ladies like either of you." The lizardman says to the battle grandma and the financial officer of Grandeur and simply walks away from the two. Where he would go it is hard to say, it isn't exactly a luxury cruise liner after all. Maybe over the seven days he would share what happened.

A few hours after setting sail as the crew is finally getting in to the groove of things , and while it has only been a few hours it appears to have been smooth sailing. That is until the boat shakes as if it hit something. Moments later tentacle monsters , which really seem to be a mass of tentacles covering up the core body have made their way on board the ship and they are trying to take the passengers and the crew down to davy jone's locker to do things that only tentacle monsters can do.
Vertina
Plot Room 3

It's only been a few hours... Vertina managed to keep occupied for the first couple by asking various crewmen what they preferred their rum spiced with, or what reagents are best used to in seasickness cures (that aren't drinking more booze), but by this point she's run out of questions and is bored.

Until tentacles start grabbing onto the ship. "Well damn, it's a good thing I didn't wear a sailor fuku for sailing." Because fukus have skirts. Not a good thing to wear around tentacles. She cracks her knuckles, igniting her fists in flame as she does, and goes to start punching one of the tentacles repeatedly to get it to let go of the ship.

But she's being careful to not let her fire splay too wildly with the blows, so it's not as effective as it should be. She is not going to be the one to turn this into a funeral barge this early into the voyage!
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

Too gruesome eh? Well, Amalthea does chuckle when she gets called a young lady, but leaves it at that if the lizard man priest doesn't want to share it must have been particularly bad. "Well hopefully it won't go that way." She muses as she stows her gear and prepares herself as best she can for a long voyage. Except a few hours in...
    Sea monsters.
When the boat shakes the old paladin wobbles briefly before she spies the tentacled beasts and draws her sword and shield, already making her approach.
Spamming her taunts to start her tank rotation, Amalthea's sword suddenly catches on fire as she... Raises her voice.

"There once was a ship that put to sea~ The name of the ship was the Billy of Tea~."

And proceeds to lay into a monster, humming and singing as merrily as though this were any other raid. Except just on a boat.

"The winds blew up, her bow dipped down~ Oh blow, my bully boys, blow. Huah~."
Naniko
Plot Room 3

Naniko looks out at tentacle monsters. Calling on her inner fire, she does some cool poses. "I'm not into you like that!" she calls out as she grabs one of the tentacles with her bare hand. It sizzles and thrashes before pulling away, a hand print branded into it. "Call me!" she mocks it, making a cute pose.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang is on deck, keeping lookout, though there are others doing the same thing, so she's pretty redundant. Then the ship shakes, and tentacle monsters are boarding. She'll stand by to repel boarders, but she's facing a pretty deadly opponent that came up opposite her, and she's locked in mortal combat while monsters come up left and right, and she's unable to stop them.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

Ladies? Mizuki opens her mouth to object, then looks uncertain. She's not THAT secretive about it, but if others here end up thinking it's weird that she's crossplaying, it would make for an awkward journey. So she closes her mouth and gets on the boat. She occupies herself staring out at the ocean, then finds someplace to curl up for a catnap.

Until suddenly, tentacles! "Oh, come on!" She doesn't give voice to further uncomfortable thoughts, Vertina and Naniko do that for her! She will... not dwell on that line of thought!

Instead, she hops up on the railing next to a tentacle, takes a deep breath, and then spews a gout of flame downward over it, trying to turn it into calimari!
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman takes the back of the ship as he grips one of the tentacle monsters and breathes fire directly into its core before throwing it over the side of the ship. " Damn these things are truly a pest and to think they are only a few hours from shore." The large source of fire and the strikes of Yeowang appear to drive off the monsters without to much damage to the ship. They even managed keeping any of the crew to being taken away by tentacle monsters.

After the monster attack it is rather peaceful for the remainder of the day, and the night is calm, eerily calm. By next morning there are storm clouds in the distance and before anyone knows it they are sailing directly in to the storm. Lightning strikes and the wind howls, sheets of rain poor down and it is as if nature itself is trying to sink the ship, so the only thing the adventurers can do is try to fight nature itself.
Naniko
Plot Room 3

On the voyage, with nature crashing down around them, Naniko begins portraying The Sorcerer's Apprentice. She gestures with her hands, waves crashing up but not striking the ship. She tries to time the tall waves with the lightning to act as lightning rods and keep it from hitting the ship itself. She didn't do much about the rain. It was, after all, just rain. "Thor, you lazy bastard, get down here and fight me in person!" she calls out before throwing up a huge wave that takes a lightning strike instead of the ship.
Vertina
Plot Room 3

Vertina gahs. Rain. Water is the one element she doesn't deal in very well. And they're not on solid ground, so her earth manipulating is limited. She works the best with what she's got, forming a small ki barrier to try and help hold back some of the wind. Until a wave rocks over one side of the deck, slamming the Salamander into said deck. It tries to carry her back out into the watery depths but she manages to snag onto something with the knuckle claws of her gloves and keep from being swept away.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang isn't entirely pleased with how she fared against the boarding monsters, and so she's extra eager to make good on this, so when there's an opportunity to help the crew manage this hard weather, she's on top of it, appearing everywhere with an assist, lending a hand, or a boot, and if fighting nature is possible, well, she's pretty butch in a fight. She'll brace safetylines and belay workers suspended on the mast repairing bits she doesn't actually know the name of.
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

With the monsters handled Amalthea sheathes her blade and sets about to... Relax for the rest of the day.
It's a voyage. What else is there to do while the sailors do their thing.
    Until the next day.
"Huh. Well those clouds look ominous."
Ominous they are as the storm rolls in and she is no longer relaxing but doing her best to keep the sailors from getting tossed about. Looping a length of rope around her waist to keep from getting flung about...
A bolt of lightning comes down...
Amalthea raises her blade like a lightning rod...!
And freaking tanks a bolt of lightning before it can damage the ship.
She spends a second coughing and sizzling afterwards but it looks like she didn't take too much HP damage from that.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

Mizuki does a lot of sleeping, like any cat. She's awoken by thunder, and tries to put up shields of ice, but... they don't work very well against rain, just kind of making a cold wet mess. "Sorry...!" The deck also ends up getting scuffed by a lot of claw marks as she tries not to get washed away!
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman looks out at the storm and is already feeling his stomach twist as he knows its about to get rocky. As the lightning begins to strike Rizadoman knows exactly what he is about to do, he is going to challenge, oh look Naniko is already doing that. After the giant wave blocks one bolt Rizadoman takes over, " I am Rizadoman, the one who shall become a dragon! I call upon the rage of this storm to strike me before anyone else. So by my ancestorss may lightning STRIKE ME! " His sacles shift to blood red as bolt after bolt strikes him and little to no damage is hit. Through all the shields and Yeowangs and Vertina providing extra hands everyone gets out of the storm safely. At least the adventurers do.

As they sail out of the storm it is obvious that while the ship is still floating, and the adventurers still stand the crew was not so lucky. The wounded need to be tended to quickly before things get worse for them. It will be up to the healthy adventurers to heal the wounded.
Naniko
Plot Room 3

Setting about what she knows, the plight of the wounded stresses Naniko, and she finds herself freezing up and not able to help. She rushes up onto deck and gets as far away as she can.
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

"Alright alright, let's get the wounded settled." Amalthea calls out once the storm settles. "I want several lines formed, we're going to triage by necessity first and handle the worst injuries and work our way down to the least." The old Paladin declares, quickly setting up triage and using a mix of medical supplies and healing magic to tend to the wounded.
Players or Landers, regardless; she's surprisingly gentle and dutiful in her healing ministrations.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang is used to sports medicine, but she doesn't understand much about how healing works here. The stuff she tends to recommend, direct pressure, ace bandages, and such, doesn't do anything here. So while she's entirely concerned ad trying to help, there's not much good she can do. It's unfortunate, given that she's running a relief organization.
Vertina
Plot Room 3

That is a lot of injured. It's a good thing Amalthea is a paladin!... and it's a good thing Godhands do know how to use their spiritual powers for more than killing things with their fists. Vertina takes an unorthadox approach though, as she makes a quick series of hand gesture and then in a flash of light there's multiple of her. That all go running off in different directions. The mirages are composed of a portion of her ki energy, and as each one touchs an injured person they dissolve into a soft glow that restores health and energy to the ones they touch.

The real Vertina eventually is the only one left, plopping herself down against the base of a mast afterwards. "There... just gimme a moment to rest..." she used a lot of ki, so she's feeling a little drained.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

Mizuki's spirits are buoyed by Rizadoman's enthusiasm, at least!

Unfortunately, Mizuki is not some kind of Medical Ninja. She digs into her stash of potions and tries to help, but potions can only do so much...
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman is quick to go to work and lets Amalthea lead the triage lines, something she obviously picked up from the doctor. The lizardman is simply saying prayers and calling on the sailors ancestors to help heal those in need. It appears to work over all as he touches . It is a team effort , even the potions are helpful in the end applied correctly. It leads to a time of peace for the voyage.

In fact things are so peaceful the ship appears to have lost it's wind, it's current and it's course. Thats right, everyone is lost and it had only been a 3 day cruise so far. Anyone who can read the future, read maps, or just call upon the wind is being called on to help, and even if you can't you are still asked to try.
Naniko
Plot Room 3

Naniko watches the sails for a bit. She gestures at them, trying to make the wind go, but she ends up just swirling some water spouts over the deck. Harmless, but hopefully entertaining, since they're not otherwise useful.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang can, she is told, call on the wind, so she will attempt to do so to drag the ship out of the doldrums. Much to her surprise, it works. Little puffs of air make the sails billow hesitantly as she gets started, then start to fill slowly as she continues to concentrate fiercely.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

    It's peaceful.

    Too peaceful!

Mizuki does the ninja hand seals thing to summon up wind, and observes that "Blowing on sails while *on the same ship* shouldn't work, thank goodness magic ignores physics..."
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

When the ship loses its wind and all seems lost, Amalthea makes her way to invade the captain's cabin.
Rolling out every map, sea chart, star chart, and diagram she can find she spends some time in study...
    Lines are drawn.
    She uses that protractor thingy.
    Dots are connected.
She uses the protractor some more...
And eventually steps out of the cabin to make her announcement.
"... I have no idea where we are."
Vertina
Plot Room 3

Once she's had a chance to recover from the drain Vertina is back on her feet and trots over to help with getting some oomph back in the sails. Fortunately airbending is something she is fairly good at, winding up some modest winds to give the sails a big push.
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman attempts to help with wind but his spell misfires and he gets a few bolts of lightning that almost end up hitting the sail. Fortunately for the entire ship the others manage to get the air going and by Amalthea knowing where they are not it is easier to tell where they are and soon they are all back on course and sailing.

In fact there is nothing much else to do, it is smooth sailing all until the sixth day, when the food begins to run low. Empty stomach leads to empty morale and who knows what could happen if no one has any food. It is all up to the adventurers to go out and find well something, anything to eat. That is all they can do.
Naniko
Plot Room 3

Naniko peers under the water. She sees this and that, and a water jet splashes it up onto the ship. Hooray! Food! She looks pretty bored, though, for some reason.
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang is a hunter, so she will hunt. For fish. It's more easily said than done, but she's got a bit more insight into the details of hunting and fishing, and she can bring in a few large fish in with a spear and line, reeling in her catch with a grunt of effort and dropping it on deck, where it flops. Someone else will have to cook it, that's not her department.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

FISH? FISH ARE DELISH! Mizuki tries to help cook with her fire breath, but... oops. Nervousness over her mistake only makes further attempts worse! "I'm sorry!"
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

    Cook?
People are trusting Amalthea to cook?
"... I'm an accountant." The old Paladin says as though this will exempt her. It's probably for the best. A cookie baking grandma she is not.
Vertina
Plot Room 3

It's a good thing someone else is hunting, because Vertina gets dragged below decks. Initially to help with cooking, but she quickly backs out of that. Remember what we said earlier about not wanting to burn down the boat?!
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

It appears others have the acquistion of the food components covered so Rizadoman makes his way to the kitchen below deck to try and help prep the food. " I shall cook you up something from my home village." Taking one of the fish that Yeowang brought back and some of the provided seaweed from Naninko's search Rizadoman begins to carefully prepare a meal. Cutting away the unneccessary pieces he sets them aside and taking the organs and the sea weed root places together a delcious salad that he offers to the people. " Just as mother would make. " He takes a bite and forces a smile, " Yep just like mothers." At least people have fish and seaweed and some of the crew can actually cook so its not like they can starve but damn is it close.

As they reach the next day though they are back to once again being low on food and lower on patience, the captain swears they should be there any day and beseeches the adventurers to please just entertain the crew. Keep them going for a little longer and they will get to their destination. Just one more day.
Mizuki
Plot Room 3

Mizuki does her best to keep up morale, not JUST by being a giant talking cat who can hug, but, when the Landers need entertainment, she sings songs from Earth, and tells tales of old books, anime, and TV shows and movies and tabletop campaigns as best she can remember them, and maybe, if anyone has any dice, cobble together some sort of tabletop RPG experience to give the landers a safe taste of adventure!
Yeowang
Plot Room 3

Yeowang was called on to relate a story to cheer the crew, so she tells them about the tournament where she fought Hye Shin Kim, and what a tough fight it was. Not that it was /too/ hard. But Hye Shin was super tough and was wildly tenacious, and the crew don't really give a rat's ass about her martial arts tournament stories.
Vertina
Plot Room 3

Cooking was a big oh no not even going to try.

But when it comes to trying to raise the crew's spirit back up? We can do that.

With actual spirits.

Vertina disappears below decks again. This time when she comes back up its carrying those kegs she brought with her, which are set down on the deck with a great show of doing so. "Gather around mateys! We're almost there, time to crack these open and start celebrating!" A little sooner than she intended, but its what this ragtag lot clearly need.

And it helps that she gives each drink she hands out a little charge of ki as she does so, to help with the morale lifting. With songs and stories going around, a few drinks helps with easing the tensions.

SHE at least enjoyed Yeowang's story, being a martial arts competitor herself.
Amalthea
Plot Room 3

The crew is whispering... Things are getting bad.
    Amalthea...
Sits herself down on the deck with a mug of Vertina's brew as she breaks it out.
"Come come now, everyone, sit down... I'll tell you all the tale of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Darth Vader."
Yes, she's going to regale the crew with Star Wars.
"A long long time ago in a galaxy far away..."
Rizadoman
Plot Room 3

Rizadoman gathers around the crew who have spirits in hand and riled up from the singing and even amused by Yeowang's story. However it was when Amalthea started that the crew really got interested, though some of it was hard for just one person to really do it all. So Rizadoman steps in and helps provide supporting narrative with dialog lines and everything. After going through the trilogy the captain comes down and says, " So we have been at port for like 2 hours, are you guys going to be getting off anytime soon?" They had finally arrived at their destination.
