Duet for Elf and Nurse

Uta and Erufu meet to discuss musical matters, and possibly more.

Closed scene.

Uta
Plot Room 2

Chimlinks were exchanged. A meeting was arranged.

Uta is waiting, off in a private room in the Astral Athenaeum, the Public Library of Shibuya. The decor marks this pace as more of an office or meeting room, rather than a library proper. The few books present are piled where Uta is sitting, as if she had brought them here herself. She seems currently engrossed in one of them, which she persuses while rubbing her chin.
Erufu
Plot Room 2

Erufu knew Uta was digging into the music of Yamato. So was she so when that /song/ came up due to Goblins. She had tp give the spriggan a warning about this song. Maybe she would be willing to trade some of what she knew about the Songs of this world to the elf. She would knock on the door calling out. "Uta? I'm here. May I come in?"

Uta raises her head from her tome. "Oh? Uh? Oh. Oh, yes, yes, please do come in," Uta says, semi-distracted.

If Erufu comes into view, Uta will greet her with a wide smile. "We finally get to meet face to face. I've been meaning to speak with you about songs for a long time now, and never had the chance. Glad we finally got around to it."
Erufu
Plot Room 2

Erufu grins as she comes on in trotting along her long hair swaying behind her as she does so. "IT is good to meet you so as you may or may not know. I'm collecting stories of local heroes to turn into a song. Though there is one i need to speak to you upon. Another song an ... one so evil my Harmonic Tattoo and my own body did not take well to it."

Plot Room 2

Uta steeples her fingers, eyes closed, as if considering what Erufu just told her.

And not liking it.

She sighs. "This does not sound good. Is it the same song Estelle told us about? And, uhm-"

She opens her eyes. "Jazuhanzu told me about Spahtjahr considering you different from the others because you possessed the 'Harmonics of her creators' or something along those lines. Was going to ask you about that."

There is more silence, then Uta stands up. Slowly. Mindful.

She begins to pace around the room. "Writing songs about the heroes of this world, huh? A worthy endeavour. Let me know if I can help you in any way, and if you want to use the phonograph to listen to the Lander Songs we've collected, feel free to!"

She pauses.

"There are other songs I should probably... let you know about at some point."
Erufu
Plot Room 2

Erufu would take a moment to look the Spriggan over for a moment. "It's something to do with a relic I found I was exploring some time ago and I found this wonderful waterfall hidden in the hills of Yamato. I explored around and a song came to me and soon found the mark upon my back."

She notes with a bit of a grin on her face.

"This song first up I felt physically ill at nearing two my mark starting glowing bright red and was visable through all my armour and clothing."

She looked concerned "It also looked like the Goblins unleashed it..."

She seem very unhappy about that as she goes into detail about this foul song.

"This is more something to be aware of do not sing it or play it."
Uta
Plot Room 2

Uta cringes. It is obvious she does not like the song. Not one bit.

"I do not like the song, not one bit," Uta says once the song is over, squirming in place.

She takes a long, long moment to think.

"I will keep it in mind. Knowledge of this song is good, but usage - bad, really bad. Not sure if it's worth recording it on a phonograph for transcription. Yet." A sigh. "Probably not..."

Uta thinks. Long. Hard. Long and hard.

"I cannot carry this burden alone. Not anymore," Uta says, standing up with a sigh.

"Erufu, I am looking for trusted people to share my findings with. And you strike me as one of them. Plus, you have a unique gift that makes especially suited for the job."

Uta pulls a small set of sheet bound together with a leather cover from the pile. Simple, nondescript.

"I think you need to have this." She places the notepad on the desktop, and she slides it across to the Pooka.

Should Erufu decide to pick it up and read it, she'll discover it contains the scores for three songs: most people will know them as Song 40, Song 41, and Song 42, but here they are each annotated with their actual titles, and some additional notes about them.

It is notable that the scores are full transcripts that report the complete song, melody and the whole harmony (something that takes multiple listenings, and is impossible for someone like Uta to have written down in one listening only). However, only Song 42 has lyrics (the part in the Alv language written down in a sort of phonetic 'sounds like' transcription).

"Please tell me all you know about these songs. I will fill in the rest. And pleas share all I'm telling you with Miyako."
Erufu
Plot Room 2

Erufu has had a love for song since long before she arrived in Yamato from some now Forgotten Realm. She would nod to Uta.

"Yeah it took the rest of the night to share the effect and a keg of ale." Yes she wants to the party. She thinks about what Uta.

"I hope to never hear it again, there is something wrong with it. We should look into why it affected me so."

She notes seemingly very concerned about the whole affair. She will take the book that is offered and start to read it learning about these songs and what they mean to this world her eyes go a bit wide at this as some of the things she did not know. After she done she will share what she knows in detail.

"Well with that out ofd the way I'll also happily preform my song once its done if you wish to record it. When I'm finished."
Uta
Plot Room 2

Uta nods, and recites the names of the songs one after the other. "The Primordial Song. The Earth Song. The Eternity Song," she srtates.

"When I medically inspect people in Strange Moods, sometimes, if I'm lucky, I get a message that says that they are resonating with one of those three songs. Primordial Song for the status effect of <<Fey Mood>>. Earth Song for the status effect of <<Mujou>>. The Eternity Song for the status effect of <<Yuugen>>."

Uta sighs. "They affect us, they change us... but... in a good way? I think?"

Uta begins to pace around. "When someone is in a strange mood, singing the appropriate song to them deepens their focus. I've tried this multiple times. It doesn't seem to affect people not in that particular strange mood." Uta stops and turns. "I am curious to see what would happen if I were to sing some of those songs to you, given your special gift. But..." Uta hesitates. "...Will not do so without your permission."

Uta adds, "I meant to share these... 'special' songs with you and Miyako at the same time. Sadly, there was no time." A sigh. "Anyway, if you want to follow me in the other room, later, I can share more songs with you." Uta flicks her menu open, and materializes her phonograph. "I have a few recorded here, on shellac cylinders. You can listen to them how many times you want. I have transcriptions on a different booklet, which I can give you. Oh, and I can possibly teach you what little I know about Song 43..."
