Seekers Sads

Jazz is being Jazz at Seeker's Landing

Jazuhanzu
Seeker's Landing

It's a beautiful day at Seeker's Landing! The birds are singing and chirping, the Landers are all in good moods, for fresh supplies have arrived, and all is well.

...except for the grey storm clouds on the horizon that is Jazuhanzu, who is seated alone (her bubble of personal space keeping the Landers well away from her for the time being) as she stares off into the sea. She's apparently lost in hought. Beside her is a book, and her fingers are considerably ink stained. Seems she's been writing, and she's busy contemplating ... something. the ocean depths? The fathomless of time? What the secret ingredients of KFC were? This world may never know.
Merek
Seeker's Landing

Merek will walk along and about Seeker's Landing, he often does that when he's working. They seem to be working with the defense of the place, and he waves a little when he notices Jazz about.

It's a rare thing, Jazz being about. She is, after all, frequently heard more on chimlink than seen in the flesh, so to speak. She straightens her crooked hat on her head and briefly picks at the pages of her book.

Merek will seem to think about it, then he walks along to the woman while he offers a wave, "You are doing alright?" he asks.

A look down her front and Jazz raises her gaze towards Merek.

"Well, I seem to be in one piece," she offers, "a state you yourself find infrequently, I think." She squints at him. It's been a while since she shared physical space with Merek, after all.

Merek will nod a little bit to Jazz, "Well, you know what they all say," he will admit, then he takes a look about the place, "I'm working and trying to build up the defenses of this place," he states.

"I noticed. I know how dangerous it is here but I admit to still being uncomfortable with us having an armed camp in another land."

Jazz looks up briefly. She shrugs. "Ah well."

"I don't think that anyone minds from the nations we talked to," Merek will mention to Jazz. "Though I know like any place it's probably people in both sides which like it and don't, when you think about it."

"They say they don't mind now," remarks Jazz.

"Now." She seems to think it would be very easy for those minds to change, in any event.

"They're people. We are people, we can't predict what people will do. Well, we can in a few cases, all the same. They've already dealt with Adventurers trying to change things. They seem to think we're doing a lot better. You need to put a little faith in people." Merek will mention to Jazz.

Jazuhanzu gives Merek a flat look. Apparently, telling Jazz have to faith in people is not something she likes hearing. at all. "Again, so far. We need to be careful not to wear out our welcome." She's evidentially sure that can be a thing that can happen. She's probably not wrong. "Small actions can have grand consequences." She tosses a stone out to the sea for emphasis on its ripples.

"If you want to be pessimistic about everything, well that's up to you," Merek will note to Jazz. "I apologize, that will be the way of things with any world. When there is a goddess of the world and a Bandit King, that seem to think that Adventurers will find answers, and that it's what we are good at, and that even they manage to keep faith in us, then I'm inclined to really think they might know what they're talking about."

"Oh, well. I should definitely rely on the perceptions and judgment of the man who can't stop touching the hot stove," remarks Jazz to Merek. She smooths her hands down the front of her dress, adjusts her long coat, and gets to her feet. "But, yes. Clearly, I'm just a pessimist. Feel free to ignore my concerns and continue merrily along." She waves a hand at him and turns to march off.
Merek

"You are. Because you expect the worst of the people you know," Merek will explain to Jazz. The man looks about the place and nods, "Well, you be safe. Your concerns are noted, except the fact that you don't give any thought to the people that came from the same place you did. We can be mindful, but we're not going to give up safety and let people be killed because you want to make an impression on people that are alright with what we're doing. Not everyone from Yamato is nice, not everyone from the Palace Land will be that nice. And monsters won't. It doesn't matter the path that you take Jazz, you will upset someone. You need to really think about who it is you want to upset the most."

"Piss off, Merek," replies Jazz. "You don't know me. Don't pretend that you have me figured out -- and don't you *dare* put words or feeligns in my mouth again." Her tone has gone as cold as the ocean depths she draws on. And then she's gone.
