Gwen Out and about

Gwen's out on a few Errands and runs into Goldenblade.

Gwen
Carmina Gadelica Marina

Gwen has been seeing to getting more supplies for the guild burger joint. She has some ideas to add a few things to the menu for this pending summer. Also, rumours abound about her looking for materials for new swimsuits for this year. She seems fairly chipper as she's moving along stopping briefly to put in an order with a lander merchant and then to his shock? Noting she'll pay a bonus if he can deliver on how fast he said it could be done. With that, she heads on her way, though she's distracted. She could very well run into someone without meaning to.

Goldenblade is paying attention to where she goes, it's a habit you pick up on construction sites. If you don't learn it, you don't survive to retirement age. "Whoa," she says, sidestepping the distracted Gwen. She's got a heavy bag over her shoulder, and clearly doing some shopping of her own, and of course her own school isn't far from here. "Oh, hey. How's it going, Gwen?" she asks curiously. The bag clanks a bit as she shifts.

Gwen snaps out of it and pauses looking embrassed more than a little. "Goldenblade! I should have watched where I was going! Good to see you!"

She beams a bit at this and then thinks about the question she was asked. "Supplies for the Burger joint, material for this year's swimsuit line. That sort of thing really!" Also revenge she may be making ready to step away from the Tower? Yet that one boss hurt her in a way she can't put into words. She wants to kill it badly for that.

Goldenblade smiles warmly to Gwen and says, "It's good to see you also. How are you doing?" She's been so busy she has lost track of the Tower business. She's got her own focus issues, not on where she's going, but she's got the Academy, and trying to get things moving in Westelande, and working on things at Eas. "Keeping busy?" she wonders, noting the cargo, and smirking with amusement.

Gwen says "I'm doing all right I have some things to think on. Oh! Hows the Academy is going? You have put a lot of work into that. Also, I have new menu ideas for Crescent Burger! I want to expand the menu a little bit this summer! Hotdogs, that sort of thing, shouldn't be too hard but something nice to add you know?"
Goldenblade

Goldenblade nods about the upgrades to Crescent Burger. "Sounds good. I'm finding American food strange after fifty years in Japan. But it's nice to have food with flavor." As far as how the Academy's going, she says, "I'm trying to work out something with the Westelande military, and hoping I can give them something like modern military training. They're currently all on-the-job here, it's very seventeenth century military culture here. Nobles as officers, and all O-J-T." On the Job Training, she means. "I'm hoping that once I've got a bit more weight to throw around, I can swing something like that."

Gwen says "Might ... wait! RIBS!" She just about will hug Goldenblade. "You have given me such a great idea!" She beams again and she listens to how thinga are going for her friend.

"It sounds like a plan and a pretty good one. If we can help the natives be able to handle themselves better? That would be good for them right?"
Goldenblade

Goldenblade is hugged, she's tough enough to take it. And if she isn't, well, she won't complain. Because then it'll seem like she wasn't tough enough to take it. But ribs, yes. That's what gets squozen by Gwen's hug, but eventually she can breathe. "Glad I could help," she says a bit breathlessly.

As far as the plan goes, "It's still just a plan. But yeah, that's my goal, a well-trained officer corps that can handle surprises and tactics and things without breaking stride or calling up the chain of command for guidance. Or without making stupid mistakes."
Gwen

Gwen is very happy. "I'll make sure you get a few free!" Yes, Gwen food without a fashion price? Rare indeed there. She now listens to the plan some more. "A good idea, also if you need or want some help. I know we have one marine at least kicking about who could help with some of the training. So a little more independant thinking when Command is unavailable."
Goldenblade

Goldenblade looks skeptical, but maybe not for the expected reason. "Well, the problem is, any of our military people could teach modern tactics, but no one remembers horses and charging infantry formations with spears. /My/ grand-dad was in the army with horse-soldiers who weren't just for show, but the job had changed even then. I'm hoping to lure a couple Lander generals out of retirement, maybe. They'd be the ones with the tactical knowledge."
Gwen

Gwen nods "They could help with physical training and fitness though. Those haven't changed much but that's a good point." She thinks for a moment "Oh that could be an idea to hit up people like that if you need help looking for them. Also, do you need a Dress Uniform for the school or just student uniforms?"
Goldenblade
Carmina Gadelica Marina

Goldenblade ahhhhhs, "That's a /very/ good point. Historical military training places almost no emphasis on physical conditioning. I'll bet a good PT program would give any force an edge." She considers, but then at the question of dress uniforms, she looks blank. "You know, I'd never considered that. But in this era, there's only the dress uniforms, there's no fatigues that you wear into the field. But maybe that's one modern innovaion I might implement. Working uniforms for drills, or obstacle course, dress uniforms for supper. If you've got ideas, I'd love to see them. I'm not sure how tied we're going to be with Westelande. I'm ..." she plucks at the side of the tabard she wears, which is a Westeland tabard, indicating some sort of affiliation, "...I've got this, but we're here on the Isle of Beginnings, so I don't know if I should aim for multicultural and accept candidates from everywhere, or admit that I'm Westelande focused ... but then why am I here and not there?"
Gwen

Gwen says "Aye, that's what I was thinking I'll hit up Kaydon for that as for unitform I'll have to hit up work and formal clothing designs I'd want something that would feel in line with local things but still do the job." she thinks for a moment "That's a call I think you'll have to make on your own but it depends on what you want to do as you have to consider the poltical issues of what you are doing there. We are living WMDs to the people of the land after all..."
Goldenblade
Carmina Gadelica Marina

Goldenblade nods to Gwen about being living WMDs, though she says, "Be aware, some Landers are very aware of what players do. The General I spoke with actually went into the Tower to look over the aftermath of floor boss fights. I'm not sure how much she learned, but she recognized my sword stuck through one of the things that turned to stone rather than fading out." Her own two swords are /nearly/, but not quite matched, the replacement was a copy of the original work.

As for the Academy uniform, she says, "I'll see if I can find some color scheme that's not used by any group already and go with that. I'll let you know...."
Gwen
Carmina Gadelica Marina

Gwen says "Aye I'm keenly aware of that. What's worse is the players who treat this as a total game. IF anything the people's reaction to that? Digital? Another reality? The mind's what matters right? Anyhow that's curious if they find anything of note? They might have insight we lack." She notes thinking on that. "Sounds like a plan I need to get moving though I'll catch up with you later again!"
Goldenblade
Carmina Gadelica Marina

Goldenblade corrects Gwen a little bit, and says, "The problem isn't treating this like a game. It -is- a game, or was when I logged on. The problem is treating a game differently than you treat real life." And with that, she'll get going, herself.
