Fort Ouph - Exploration

Chasing information, Wisteria arrives in Fort Ouph to speak to those who used to monitor the distant vault of the Sylphs' old home.

Seeking out those who administrate Fort Ouph, it takes some time to look back. To find those who keep track of the ancient trees, the old homes of the Sylph. But, after enough asks with those who were involved with the previous mess with the mirror, she's finally found it.

Stepping into a small house on the edge of town, she's welcomed by an elderly looking Imp with a firm and stern gaze. Were it not for Schneider giving her a bit of help, she may not have even been invited into this place. But it seems Pazuzu is willing to at least talk to her on this much for the time being.

He stares at her quietly, opening the door for her, and welcomes her in. The little house, further within, is small and simple looking. But the further she travels inside, the more crystals she starts spotting within the walls. Even with Pazuzu still at her side, she gets this feeling of being... watched from all sides.

Wisteria is a tall albino girl in purple, none of her cursed gear on display since scaring Landers isn't on her menu today. She smiles widely, the tall girl looks about noting crystals. "I was on the expedition to go find out about the mirror, the one that was broken out." she says with her hands clasped behind her back. "Well, I'm also an enchanter." she says giving a little spin on her heel. "Well, the big crystal lock, and your monitoring devices gave me ideas and so I started making new stuff." she says "Crystal enchantment circuts so that an enchantment can just run and react to things like if I get hit that kind of thing, and then recharge on their own... but what I really want to do is put up a barrier around cities that aren't Root like Alne... so that waves won't hurt people... I have plans for a massive curse that will aflict anything attacking the city." she says with a chipper tone "I've already managed to make it big enough to cover a castle... but I'm missing something... I don't know what yet but my Quest prompt told me I needed to follow in the footsteps of those who came before me soooo." she holds her arms out "Here I am."

"The one that was later found within the midst of the Mac Anu channels, and almost caused a serious problem." The man coins along with her as she mentions the expedition. "The one that now lies within the grasp of the Church of Law, and will no longer be returned to us." Pazuzu answers Wisteria with a gruff grunt. Letting her know that the end-result of that had not been to his preference.

He steps with her, hands behind his back as well. In a ways, these two seem remarkably well paired. When she spins on her heel, he slows, looking her in the eyes with this intense look that makes his gaunt old features stand out even more. "Such barriers are beyond what Magic can produce. Beyond what you can do with Enchantments." He answers her firmly, immediately dashing her dreams. "A castle is well at the edge of what you can do. I imagine you have to adjust the strength of such barriers to only be able to protect against attacks. Too many from too many directions, and you will have holes." He grunts.

Clearly, Pazuzu knows quite a lot about enchantments. "This way." She can hear talking up ahead down a door, but he leads her away into a small set of stairs leading into a small and plain cellar. The smell of kept food and the sound of dripping water surrounds her as she ends up down there. Candles providing vague light.

"You are seeking to become a Moonlight Enchanter, hmm?" Pazuzu then inquires.

Wisteria nods her head "Yah, and even if I can't get it as big as a town... well there is Wachigai (interlaced circles) or Kuruma gakari (winding wheel) (both formations used in the Sengoku period)." she smiles "There's always a way when it comes to the winds of war." she nods her head "I'm sorry if you didn't get the mirror back... I don't even know what the church of law would try to do with it, at least you had it locked up so it wouldn't be misused."

The old man listens to Wisteria talking about other patterns. "The issue is less the output of a single enchantment, though that is part of it. It's the sheer amount of magic needed. The amount of People you need to power them." He explains. "But you usually do not /need/ a barrier to protect in a full dome. You are forgetting what Enchantments are good at. And that is, reacting to external information."

The man then takes out a little gem, and offers it to her. "Try to take this gem from me. I'll give you a full minute." He remarks, and then starts pushing a bit of magic into the crystal. The simple looking gem.

Wisteria licks her lips "Well that's why I was thinking of overlapping enchantments that told each other what was happening." she says "Uhm... is this a snatch the pebble thing? Or a deconstruct the wall thing?" she asks her hand moving slowly towards the crystal. She came for instruction on enchantment she doesn't expect to have any teacher go easy... she spent months just swinging or getting hit to learn the sword after all. She warily tests the bounding zones of where she'd place an enchantment to have it react. "I mean my current barrier doesn't exactly try to stop people, if you attack the castle or residence then my curses drop on you... letting them defend themselves."

"Snatch the pebble." He answers her as her hand moves towards the crystal. She begins to test the bounding zone, and each time she starts to reach, it pushes her hand back as she gets closer. It's not a shield, but rather, the closer her hand gets, the harder it gets to move, more energy pushing back against her own. Moving her hand back, she might try to find a new position to go at it, find a blind spot. Under his hand. Over his hand, sneaking around.

Using two hands, it splits, without losing this force at all. Yet it only seems active very specifically around her fingers, or against her palms. Whatever is closer.

She may try for that full minute, but she keeps being held back by this strange... 'attenuation' barrier.

"You do not need to overlap." He answers her then.

Wisteria almost... plays with it once she notes what it does. She keeps trying to get the stone becuase she's that kind of strange determined that gets you into championships year after year. She tries pushing one way or the other to over load or move it she tries finger tips, palms, even curling her hands into fists to hide her palms and finger tips and going for it with her knuckles, because if she's one thing it's stuborn, and if she's a second it's clever. "I don't see any circuts or relays of enchantments or crystals... so how does it know where I am? I've been using multiple crystals to hold enough power and then relays of enchantments to give it all a big... well... kind of one big enchantment made of lots of little enchantments." she looks facinated and determined no matter how much she continues to fail.

The man smiles, and offers; "Here." And puts the crystal into her hand, after some time of her continueing to try. "The crystal's facets were cut in a very specific way. If you look a bit closer, you might see the subtle facets in it." He pauses, letting her toy with it. "There's grooves in there. It was created by a Legendary Moonlight Enchanter." He explains to her.

"And... it's a toy." He waits for her to hold the toy, to play with it. It just lays on her hand when he puts it into hers. "Okay, so you want to see how you can take this crystal from someone?"

Wisteria nods her head as it's explained, and then out comes her jewlers loop. She holds it up to her eye to start appraising, look over the facets and grooves, as well as then running the loops special check for flaws. "Ooh yah please show me, this is so cool!" she says with a big smile, the girl is almost vibrating with excitment, bouncing on her toes.

Pazuzu takes a moment, letting her prepare, watching with excitement. He moves his hand towards the crystal...

And then suddenly turns and swats the bottom of her hand, causing the gem to launch into the air, and he catches it with his other hand.

And just looks at her with this very old man calm look.

Wisteria "Oooh.... sneaky old man." she says with a laugh and obvious enjoyment. "You, are definately a sensei." she says with a bounce on her toes again. "You have wise sayings, neat tricks, and you cheat." she nods saying all these things as if they weren't just acceptable but expected.

The old man seems to regard her with some fondness. "Keep it. It's yours. Maybe you will learn something from it. Just keep in mind, you'll need to imbue it with Arcane magic in order to keep it running over time." He explains to her.

As she spots in her view; 'You have followed in the footsteps of those who came before you'. Unlocking the next quest.

Wisteria laughs the girl shifting to bun form and hugging the old man. A big squooshy hug like one might give a grandfather. "You're awesome!" she says with bright giggles and much fluffy white fur

The man stares down at her. He doesn't smile. He just kind of... lets it happen. "Off you go." He instead remarks. "Before I change my mind." With that raspy old man tone.

Wisteria smiles "I'll send cookies... as soon as I can get to Pela's." she nods "Mellon Pan for the sensei." she says brightly even as she skips her way out of his house. Restoring his peace with an absense of excited bungirl
