When Crafter's Meet

Miho's just working the forge at Haru pops in to check things out.

Haru has been seen around the streets before and recently an adventure or two. Its not the white hair that stands out but the fact he wears an outfit that fits more in towns than outside of them with a blue jacket and gray slacks. If there is a jingle when customers enter, it sounds off when the Artificer comes into the Ironworks. "Some range here," he says as he puts his hands into his jacket pockets and walks around to browse the tool section. Its the more mundane things like the tools and nails that interest him most instead of the more catchy display items.

Well now Miho is hammering away a the forge she does hear the jingle of someone entry. She'll finish up the nail she was making calling out.

"Welcome to the Ironworks how can I help you!"

She's a fairly shortish Salamander with blue hair done up in a braied pony tail. She looks Haru over and grins.

"So I'm Miho the owner and operator and thank you I make everything from weapons to work tools!"

A hand raises up from Haru's side in a wave. The greeting comes more from his smile as he turns to face the shortish Salamander. A tallish human, he has to look down a bit with those blue eyes. "You make all these," he asks in a curious tone, "I was just remarking that its some range here. Thought for sure some of it had to be outsourced to handle the sheer variety of it all." Eye contact breaks a moment to scan the store over one more before settling back down on MIho. "There truly are some amazing people out there," he says. Smile.

"Ah. I'm Haru, a bit of a traveling Artificer," he introduces as he takes his hands out of his jacket in good manners. Naturally good posture. Bit of a rich kid vibe to him. "I get a lot of inspiration to make accessories from all sorts of places and saw your store," the young man says. "It is," he says, looking to Miho, "very inspiring." A pause. Pause! "Is that your brand? The hammer and sword over a flower?"

Miho smirks for a moment "I make most of what you see in here though I do resell things for people when I can. Make sure it's in good shape for whoever gets it next. I'm a Blacksmith have been one since long before I arrived in this world." She seems pretty proud of that little bit of information too. Her tail swishes and she grins some more.

"Aye it's my maker's mark. Oh you make accessories? Wait does that mean you enchant as well?"
Haru

Haru is relieved to hear Miho was crafty even before the whole experience in this world. "No kidding," he says, stance relaxing to one of career or hobbyist interest. "Before here I had a heavy involvement in," the man begins cheerfully before the energy starts to reduce like someone poked a hole in his balloon, "electronics." The journey comes to a graceful conclusion with a well practiced smile. "So I guess I've always been good with small things."

"I do," Haru continues on to the new topic, taking out a small silver hairpin to show Miho. It has the most basic of enchantments to have a simple blue hue like the washing of waves against the shore. "A lot of accessories I make help bring out what is naturally there already, like this one was for a woman who loved the sea and also had blue eyes. Complimented her raven hair, but," he shakes his head, "she couldn't accept it." His other hand motions to the side, "technically speaking the person she was with couldn't accept it and it made things a little more awkward than intended." A fun little side story, but such is the life of a stranger in a strange land. He regrounds to the conversation Miho is more interested in, "so, yes, I am a fairly good enchanter. Artificer's main in Enchanting as a whole. The materials for major enchantments require a bit of work, which you probably already know, huh?" His smiling face and blue eyes leave Miho's for a moment to look to those impressive display items.

Miho says "Family's been working with metal since the warring states era and oh more modern but useful. Sounds like you got the hang of it. I had a lot of orders or design that needed enchanting. Though I did create an new method to allow echantment to be recharged in things from Magic weapons and beyond. The first ones I made went to the best knights of the Kingdom we're in to help with the fight against the undead. I haven't had a chance to use it on anything else yet. Though I have no actual skill in enchanting thing directly. I'd been hoping to find teacher if I'm being upfront and honest about it."

Warring states. That one has Haru shifting his stance from looser to formal again. "Weapons, huh," the Artificer says as he lets that one roll for a bit. "If I'm being upfront, I am no fan of watching things built to destroy become more powerful than they are." He takes a breath there. Not very Enchanting of him. "I had another person ask me to help them learn how to Enchant not too long ago. Then he showed me what it was for and I had to politely decline. Directed him to someone else I know that wouldn't mind as much to build weapons. We are in wartimes and I can appreciate it, but..." The young man crosses his arms over his chest in a more closed posture, "Sorry, I mean no disrespect to the craft, especially with as long a lineage you have. Before I got here I saw a lot of lives ruined and if I see things made, I'd want those creations to make people happy."

He stops, realizing the topic is drifting into one of a self-absorbed monologue. Haru smiles. "Miho, right," he says to recall the name better, "would you be happier not working with others for enchanting your wares? By the look of this store, if you branch out you'll have no economic need on others. Smith. Merchant. Enchanter. If you ran for town governor, I'd vote for ya." He isnt sure that position actually exists, but its the principal of the matter.

Miho says "Yes, though I suspect the material can be used for armour or even the sorts of thing you like to make. Well I thank you for your honesty about your craft and I won't force the issue. IT's not to say i'm against working with others and I can understand that. Just haveing the skills to make so many things and normally be making kitchen knives. Good work my family's makes some of the best if I must say so myself. As for that? I just find myself and those I work with being often short handed on enchanting. I also had plans for more than weapons. The sorts of things that could be done with tools or something like a plough. Haha I'll take that as a compilment."
Haru

"Heh," Haru says as he runs a hand against the back of his head and through the short white hair, "well I'd be happy to work with you on those kinds of projects. Ploughs that make farming easier through an Earth enchantment to harden the way it cuts through the soul to til it. Water enchantments to keep them at the right moisture level on scarecrows that also use Wind to shoo away birds." He smile to Miho. "Least I could do, especially if you made anti-undead weapons. I was in an engagement not too long ago to seal off their advance. I wouldn't be surprised if your supply helped me from losing my head that day, literally."

Haru offers a short laugh, "Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind. While we are being perfectly honest strangers, I've been giving it more thought since I rejected the last guy. I think I'd be more okay with idea if they were," he stops to think of the word, "a friend."

Miho says "Aye I didn't want the People of Yamato to have to rely on us to deal with it. Given what the undead were doing to /them/ as well? It was only right to give them the means to help their best fighters be more effective in pushing them back. Hopefully we can keep it contained for the moment while we deal with the invasion."

She thinks for a moment "We'll have to see where it goes no?"
Haru

Haru nods to that in a solid gesture, "Exactly what I'm thinking, see how it develops. With all the Palace Land movements, I'll be in this region a lot more." He gestures out a hand to Miho with a smile, "Plus you'd be doing me a favor. Its my hangup, I could use a hand seeing past it and it looks like you have no shortage of talent in a perspective I'm short on." A finger snaps as the mind starts turning, "Maybe give me a small shelf to sell accessories? Mine are typically made-to-order but sometimes I get inspired and have to get the expression out or people don't want them. Nature of the business, accessories aren't essentials. Its practically in the name."
Miho

Miho says "I would be willing to give you a shelf to sell your goods here. Might be able to add a few interesting things to my shop. Say a ten percent cut of the sales goes to me and you don't have to handle the selling. If that works for you? Also it's only when they sell nothing upfront obviously."
Haru

"Sure," Haru says with the ten percent cut, "that seems reasonable to me. It'll get them into the hands of people a lot faster on my own, thats for sure."
